Dr. Martell did a pre purchase exam for me as a first time horse buyer. He and his assistant were absolutely amazing. They were gentle with the horse and very thorough. I wanted someone who would be honest and open about findings and I was not disappointed with his honesty. Occasionally life throws things at you and you're not able to take care of all the details yourself. And, occasionally, there will be wonderful, caring superheroes that volunteer to help you out of a jam....that was Dr. Martell and his crew last Saturday evening. We needed to evacuate our home and two horses very quickly as the Calwood fire appeared to be heading right towards our property. Dr. Martell was helping others evacuate and offered to help us. Within minutes, our two horses easily(ish) loaded into his trailer (along with another family's 8 goats:) and he took them to a safe pasture. We will forever remember their kindness, calm help (as we were on the verge of panic) and will always be grateful.

Dr. Martell is the kindest vet I have ever met!! On his first visit with my very ill horse who is recovering from colitis, he spent almost 2 hours with she and I. Answered all my questions, treated us both with such kindness and concern. I am happy to say that after starting her on Dr. Martell's treatment advice, I have seen her recovery proceed more in 4 days, than it has in over two months!! And, I feel like we have a plan.
