We've went to Spirit for 22 years, primarily because of Dr Troy Semandel. After the loss of one of our cats in August, and what we feel was a mishandling of his health condition, we would recommend that you look elsewhere. Customer service is poor, and it's difficult to find an appointment if you are looking to have one with Dr Semandel. Communication between the doctors is also lacking.

I really want to give this clinic a 5 star review but every time I take my pet in I am sadly disappointed. It's in a great location, close to where I live, and the staff is friendly, which are really the only reasons I make appointments here. That being said, it seems there is a huge lack of communication between the doctors and the technicians and it always seems chaotic and like no one knows what's going on. I recently brought my cat in because she was losing weight, vomiting all of her food and had some concerning behavioral changes. I brought her in for a day stay at 6:45am and picked her up at 5pm. In that entire 12 hour period she was not fed any food...I was told when I picked her up that I had to request feedings for her otherwise they do not typically feed animals for day stays. If I would have known that I would have requested it and brought food for her...just seemed odd that they would keep an animal for the entire day and not feed it. When I picked her up they tried to release her to me without any medications. When I talked to the doctor on the phone earlier that day after the diagnoses he said we would be trying several prescriptions. After about 10 minutes of waiting the technician brought out 3 prescriptions and apologized for not knowing about them. I honestly felt like they wanted me to pay the $450 and shove me out the door- I then specifically asked to talk to the doctor because I had questions I needed answered only to find out that the techs had forgotten to give me the 4th medication. When I took my cat back next time for a follow up visit to get blood work done, the tech did not know what she was doing and asked me what tests she was supposed to be running...???? (for real??) Moral of the story- ask questions because no one there is going to volunteer any information to you... don't just let them shove you out the door, and look at your receipt to make sure you are getting all of the medications you are supposed to get for your pets!!! I find it very concerning that I wouldn't have known I was missing an important prescription for my cat that could mean the difference between her getting better or getting sicker if I hadn't specifically asked to talk to the doctor that day. Spirit- please get organized, train your staff, and make sure they know what is going on. I would love to keep taking my pets here but may have to find another clinic if I can't trust the staff here to do their job properly.

Took my one year old cat in for vomiting, not eating and hiding. He was seen by Dr Voss and I paid $1300 for fluids, 3 day inpatient stay and X-rays. 4 weeks later he starts vomiting and not eating again. Also noticed a piece of thread hanging from his butt. I called Spirit— talked to vet I asked if the thread could have been there one month ago and he said it’s possible but he didn’t see it on The X-rays. I asked what I should do next next was told that he can’t approve for my cat to be seen the next day because his schedule is full but maybe the two other doctors can see him but I would have to call the next day. I call the next morning and was told there are not appointments available. I already paid $1300 the least Spirit of 76th could have done is squeezed my cat in to be seen since they have his medical records, have the X-rays, and know what is going on with him. I was given a list of alternative places. I wasn’t asking for a free visit just the courtesy of reevaluating and treating him so that he could get better. I didn’t appreciate being turfed off to someone else.

HIGHLY disappointed. I have been going here for the last 12 years, and WILL NOT GO BACK. I had a scheduled appointment for the morning, they called me a few weeks prior to ask if I could change the time, which i did. Came in today, girl at the front desk couldn't find my appointment, had to go ask someone else, came back and did not acknowledge me, finally I asked if my appointment was found, (she thought someone else was helping me) We finally went into a room and proceeded to wait for over 30 min. What's the point of having an appointment, if they were running late, someone should have said something. My dog has very bad anxiety and its hard for him to be there, let alone wait so long. I asked another employee if she could find out how much longer, and I could barley understand what she said..... I was done at that point and left. Ever since Dr. Darren Lippmann left I have not been happy with the service here and I will be looking elsewhere.... Sad My dog has been here since he was 6 weeks old.

We have been long time patients at Spirit of 76th for our dogs and cats. One of my daughter's cats had a tooth abscess/emergency extraction and needed to see the emergency vet. The emergency vet asked us to follow up with our vet within one week to make sure there isn't any infection. Spirit provided no options for us, didn't call us back regarding the appointment (we had to call multiple times) - no possibility to be seen before middle January. I'm now looking for a new vet. Loyalty means nothing!!!! I made the mistake of referring people to this vet!!!

I only called to get info. Staff was wonderful. Was not able to get in for new appointment for 3 months so I looked elsewhere. Prices were average compared to other clinics

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The wait times are a bit long on the phone, you can get a call back or set up appointments easier using their Pet Desk app.

It was my 1st visit here with my kitty. All the staff & doctors were very nice here. They took care of all my pet care concerns. I would highly recommend them.

Pros: Staff are friendly and vets ask questions without being condescending. Cons: Expensive. They overcharged me and then put a credit on my account instead of my credit card; I notified the person immediately after receiving the receipt but he apparently was unable to credit my card. I overheard a staff member telling another staff member that they only slot in one appointment for a new patient per day. They'll keep moving out days until they have a "new patient" appointment available - even if that's months away (which I can confirm first hand from switching my animals there a year ago and needing to wait 2 months). They keep multiple appointments open every day for existing patients but will not give any away to new patients.

I call this morning at 8:30am to make an appointment for Friday since I was not able to get in today which was understandable. Jody told me someone will call me back ....my work schedule is tight n fter 3 phone calls to them n last one at 4:10- Josh than tells me I have an appointment but no one called me to ask if that time works. Customer service has changed as I have been going there over 20 years. Never again...I wasted my whole day for a call back that I never got. Who makes the appointment for you n never calls you to tell u or even ask if that works for you??? Good bye Spirit of 76th!!

I have to say that up until now, I have been generally happy with Spirit of 76th. I have taken all three of my dogs and my two cats, as well as previous pets, here for a number of years now. However, I have a new puppy and when I stopped in today to pick up meds for one of my dogs I mentioned that I need to get her in so she can continue her puppy vaccination series. The receptionist informed me that "new patient appointments" are being booked out a month. When I mentioned that it is more urgent than that because she needs her next vaccinations he interrupted to inform me that THEY will decide if she needs vaccinations and that the dog needs to be seen first and that will be a month. Well, in the meantime, my puppy needs to have her vaccinations so that she is not susceptible to diseases that could be deadly to her. While I understand *she* is a new patient, *I* have been a client for years and while I am disappointed she can't get in for a month, I'm even more disappointed by the way I was spoken to. A brand new puppy needs vaccinations and needs them ASAP and on a schedule, and I simply cannot wait a month for that. I'm sad that I was treated this way and that I apparently need to find a new vet for all of my pets because I don't want to have my pets scattered between veterinarians.

I called my dog’s Vet of many years to see my dog that was in dire need of attention. When Dr. Troy was finally reached he indicated to call someone else at the clinic because he was too busy. Which has never happened in the past seven years. Then when I reached out to the clinic they said that they would not be available for three days. On the third day I took my dog first thing in the morning with a completely different Vet. My dog died within hours of their care. Which I believe could have been avoided had his Vet been responsive as he was in the past. I find this completely repulsive, unprofessional and heartbreaking. I since then have set an appointment for my other dog with this clinic since this is the only clinic and Vet he has known. The appointment is set for tomorrow (7-22-21) I receive a confirmation email on the 20th which I responded yes to the 22nd appointment. Now this morning I get a short notice cancellation with no explanation. I had to take time off of work to make myself available for this appointment; that was scheduled a month ago. Again unprofessional and unreliable service. I can no longer recommend this clinic. RIP BUCKY

Love Spirit of 76th. The customer service is A+, love the Littman's, clean, inviting atmosphere. Everyone is so nice there! Don't mind driving 30 min for a great clinic when there's closer ones 10 minutes away.

My little Peanut had some fatty tumors, one was quite large, the other two were small. While he was out, he had a dental as well. Dr. Samandel is an awesome doctor, the incisions healed like a dream, I am so, so happy with the outcome, and the cost was super reasonable for all that work. Everyone who has pets, should use spirit of 76 vet. ????????

I took my pets to Spirit for close to 15 years. Two dogs and two different cats over the years. It’s sad to rate them as a 1, considering the # of referrals and business I generated. Yet, I’d rate them at a zero if I could. When in the time of need, as I called the clinic w sick elderly pet ... they could not see me or get my sick pet in to be seen because I didn’t have her there in two years. A year a half of which we were experiencing a global pandemic. Yes, Dr Semandel, I didn’t drag Bella out to get her vaccines because I’m a terrible dog owner, apparently. You grew your business beyond what your new mediocre at best staff can accommodate. I am disgusted that you turned your back on my pets during our time of need. I never did when I sent referrals, and voted regularly for the best local vet practice. The only thing that I shall miss is Josh who believes in the value of value relationships and is the only member of your front office staff that is used his head, is polite and understands customer service. I’m so disappointed in you, Dr. Semandel, and how you’ve allowed individuals with zero business or customer service savvy manage your practice. Clearly, $ became more important to you than the care of animals.

Employees and doctor are very nice. The clinic is clean and tidy. We have been going here for about 8 or 9 years now and we will continue to bring our pet here.

I made an appointment for teeth extraction. was told I would have to wait 4 months. so busy they cant even as an emergency squeeze it in. I was told if there was a cancellation, they would let me know. never happened. "they dropped the ball" I had to check up on it myself. when I did, was able to get an earlier one. was never told about needing to get blood work done. this first time. but was told about it, only after I reached back out. (what if I never called back, and just showed up for the appointment) just rude disrespectful/unprofessional Then I am told the appt for the blood work, needs to be a month in advance, and requires a $100. deposit. so I go to pay for the surgery. problem with there system! card gets run twice, ultimately draining my bank account of over $17,00. I get so fed up. I contact, another vet. And am able to get an appointment, the same week and a savings of $400.00.

Our dog, Beau, has seen Dr. Semandel for both of her back leg surgeries. He is an awesome vet and a great person! Very easy to talk to. He has *greatly* helped us through Beau's cancer diagnosis, giving us recommendations on doctors and specialty clinics. He has called to see how Beau is doing when he doesn't need to. Dr. Semandel has shown great care to Beau and we're beyond appreciative. We have recommended, and will continue to recommend, friends and family to Spirit.
