I’ve been bringing my pup here for roughly 7 years now, and I will never use another vet for the remainder of his, or my life. The family at Companion has been there for me every step of the way - any questions I had years ago as a new dog owner, to rather silly questions and concerns I still have to this day. I have never ONCE felt I was a burden or annoyance, and there are times I probably should have, lol. My bad. Companion in New Berlin is special, because they make it known our animals are just as important to them as they are to us. They listen to our concerns, they answer our questions, and are always prompt with anything and everything they offer and provide. All of the Doctors that have cared for Sherlock over the years have been welcoming, knowledgeable, confident and professional. I would specifically like to address Kay, Hope, and Tori, as you have all given me much needed reassurance and patience over the years. Thank you, more than I can say. Companion Animal Hospital has set a standard for veterinary care - and it’s because the amazing and caring people who dedicate their time to us, and to our families. Thank you!!!! - Brian & Sherlock

Well, I’ve been taking my cats here for a while. Back in July I had a health scare with 2 of my cats that could have been fatal. It was never really figured out exactly how it happened …but anyways now I can not say how many times I have called this clinic last minute and in a panic and they squeeze me in for something. All the receptionists are amazing, the techs are always full of compassion and the vets always answer my questions very thoroughly… I fully recommend and love this place and I have had experiences with other vets that were not as caring and compassionate… this place is everything you look for in an animal clinic!

Took my 10 year old dog that had some odd spots on her skin. The Vet and techs were able to give my girl a good exam and figured out exactly what was going on. I was very relieved to find out she had some minor issues that were easily treated with some meds. I had a great experience and was so thankful for the professional help I was given.

Been going to Companion for many years. Great caring helpful staff and Dr. Benton is honest, caring and wonderful with my dogs. Update: well since original review seems to be many Dr. Changes but still seem ok

The vetenarians and staff were great, except for one employee named Kay. Time and time again she was rude to my wife and I and made every encounter/request a nightmare. We have since switched to another hospital due to this woman.

We've been going to Companion for years with our 2 dogs and 2 cats. The doctors are great, but we also really love the front desk staff. Kay, Hope are always super friendly whenever you call (which is often having a pet with prescription diet needs for food pickup ☺️).

Very nice people. They were ready for me when I arrived. They kept me up-to-date on what they were doing and what they found. Then gave a lot of information on possible plans to take care of the problem. I would highly recommend them.

Staff does not have the patience to work with animals. Terrible experience, took our dog to a new vet and couldn’t be happier.

The staff are always so kind and caring. They treated our cat as if she was their own. They were always helpful with taking care of our cat's medical needs and advising us, right down to her last days. Wonderful place to take your pet.

Our cat Albus has been losing weight, and we were getting very concerned about him. We recently moved to NewoNew Berlin, so we needed a new vet. We reached out to one vet clinic, and they never got back to us. When we reached out to Companion, they responded first thing the next day. They're very prompt with their responses, and were able to look at Albus that week. When they got his lab results, they called and explained the results in a way that was very reassuring and easy to understand. I was very worried about Albus, but now I feel confident that he's getting the help he needs.

Had a super hard time finding a Vet to treat my sick chickens. Dr. Waldoch was great. Even turned me on to a local animal pharmacy!

I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff are always phenomenal- they're welcoming, friendly, and so so kind to my anxious pup. Before I used to have to heft her into the office and now she's excited to see staff at checkups. The staff is also very knowledgeable and patient- explaining everything very clearly, offering advice, info, ect. I can't imagine taking my pet elsewhere, the care and service is top tier for sure!

The clinic is very good with the pets. They explain everything in an easy to understand way. I consider their prices to be in the middle of the pack. Not too expensive and not the cheapest. What makes this a 5 star vet for me is how friendly everyone is. You can tell they love working with animals.

Dr. Jenny is a phenomenal exotics vet. I have rats, and every time i meet someone who has rats I refer them to her because I really feel like she's knowledgeable and cares very much about my pets. She has done several surgeries on my rats (tumor removals and neuters) and my rats have always been able to recover quickly from the high quality work that she does. Not only that but every member of the staff that assists during vet visits is always super kind. Having rats is sometimes a little controversial because some think they are gross, but it always warms my heart to see how excited everyone gets when I bring my rats in, even if some aren't too fond of my pets I truly appreciate them keeping that to themselves and letting me feel like this is a safe place for my pets.

Awesome staff and doctors, especially for cats that dont like vet visits or shy/nervous dogs-they take the time to work with them! My cats appreciate the extra love!

The receptionist & tech were amazing and very caring, & my sick rat loved them. The vet, however, was far from ideal. She was condescending and patronizing as she criticized me for using my asthma inhaler on my rat when he started gasping with his mouth open while his feet turned blue prior to the visit. I had tried steam from the shower until the hot water was used up. It did nothing. When I tried the albuterol sulfate, he could breathe again. Feet returned to their normal color right away and he stopped gasping. I told her this, yet she told me to use steam to help him & to stop the albuterol as it wasn’t necessary or appropriate for a rat because of dosage. I had already found multiple trustworthy & credible sources (including a published one) from experienced rat owners who used albuterol via inhaler & nebulization with oxygen to treat their rats who had the exact same symptoms as mine. I used the same dosage they did, since it had proven to be safe & effective. It worked & he felt well enough to eat and climb like normal. I was told he responded very well to oxygen but immediately struggled to breathe as soon as it was shut off. The vet told me that all he needed was Doxy, Baytril, & Meloxicam to treat symptoms that couldn’t wait long enough for those meds to start working, while witnessing him gasping with his mouth open and his feet + nose turning blue. She sent him home after seeing him display clear signs that he wasn’t stable enough to leave. He died 6 hours later. In pain. From slowly asphyxiating while his best friend cuddled with him. So now I have 3 depressed rats at home, lost the one who helped with my ptsd, and have a vet bill I can’t afford but had to pay, thinking it would save him. In hindsight, I should have driven 4.5 hours to the vet one of the sources recommended, as that vet did everything he could to save their rat, and was successful by prescribing albuterol for use with a nebulizer. I received a follow-up phone call asking how my rats were. I said that one died in 6 hours and the other showed no change aside from being depressed. I was promptly told to return in 2 weeks if no improvement was seen, and she told me to “feel better” before ending the call. How am I supposed to “feel better” about this? My 3 rats are miserable, I lost a best friend with treatable symptoms, and my rat’s aunt & grandma are devastated because they adored him. This is the second animal hospital I have been to a few minutes from where I live that has taken my money (CareCredit) and shown incompetence & lack of knowledge despite supposedly having vets who were knowledgeable in care for that species. Do not go to this clinic for emergency rat care, and find someone recommended by rat owners or organizations who will care more about saving your pet than making a profit.
