They all love my dog and help me with all we need ! Brook helped me so much Thursday!

At first, I found this place to be difficult. The end result was supposed to be a teeth cleaning for our 12 yo chihuahua, Ren. They needed to give him an exam and run some tests. That’s understandable since anesthesia is involved. At pickup, I was told I would be emailed a cost estimate for his teeth cleaning. Great! Well that email didn’t come and his scheduled appointment was approaching so I called again and asked if they had my email. They had it because they confirmed last time but alright. Yes, that is me and here’s my husbands email. A couple days later, they called to tell us not to let him eat past 8pm and yadda yadda. I asked again if I could get that estimate emailed to me. They gave us a ballpark number. Finally, day of surgery and I get a call because his teeth were so bad- he needed a lot pulled and they were looking at an absurd number so I gave them our budget to cut off at and hopefully just get rid of the worst ones. I finally get a call to come pick him up. My husband already paid $1200 over the phone so really I should just be able to grab and go, right? Once again, I’m left waiting in the car. 30 minutes now- doctor comes out. Where’s my dog? So, he has possible respiratory aspiration. He has fluid in his lungs and needs to go to the VRC. Ummm what? YEAH. She says she will call to let them know we are on our way. He didn’t have issues before this! This all happened in their care. I think they weren’t checking in on him. Anyway, the cost to put him on oxygen and all the other things was going to be astronomically expensive. VRC told us we might have to consider the humane thing to do and suggested euthanasia. This rocked our family and we were exhausted with worry and helplessness. The next day, on our way to go visit him (we spent all our money with PSV we barely scrounged together an overnight stay with help from friends and family) we call Prairie Side Vet and cancel our other dogs appointments. They said, “oh yeah, how is Ren doing?” “Umm well, he might die so he’s not doing great.” “Okay, we’ll have a nice weekend!” JFC. The following day, thanks to my teenage daughter who created a gofundme- we were able to give Ren more time at VRC. Someone contacted us telling us that our old doctor from PSV contacted them, asking about Ren and that she said we “wouldn’t talk to her”. I said, “you can tell her everything- we never said we didn’t want to talk to her- she never called us!” Bonkers! Guilty much? People were saying I should sue them for negligence but I can’t because there’s a form you sign as a protocol that says this procedure can causes problems, ultimately leading to death. “Don’t worry, that is only in a rare case.” Ren was healthy. That’s why the gal said not to worry. So yeah, I do NOT recommend this place. They are a mess. I only tried them because we just moved to the Southside and it’s a block away. Never again! You guys almost killed our dog.

Very professional and warm staff! Really seem to want to do a good job. I brought our new St. Bernard puppy here for his shots and wanted them to advise us as We have noticed Bear has a missing toe and padd from his back leg. Very satisfied with the explanation and proposed treatment. Poor guy needs surgery!! Ugh. Also, it took 3 rounds of antibiotics for a terrible UTI, but it finally is gone!!! I like that we were able to solve the problem!! The front end staff are fantastic! There all very friendly and accommodating!! Brook came out to get bear for a follow up appointment and had to lift this monster out of the car because I was unable to get him out at the time, she had no problem!! Very impressive!! # beast mode! T staff here will do whatever it takes to solve issues!! Highly recommend this animal hospital!

Loved this Place. They treat you right and care about your animals. It has a small town atmosphere which i love.

Nurses and doctors are great with my animals and great bedside manner.

Dr. Susmilch was wonderful. He took the time to answer all of my questions and was very gentle with my new shelter dog.

All staff was warm, welcoming and professional. Dr. Huggins gave me all options available and time to figure out what was best for myself and my pet. Service was exceptional.

They took the BEST care of my furbaby and were very affordable! When tragedy strikes a loved member of your family unexpectedly, you worry- not only about their well-being but about an unexpected cost as well. The professional, friendly staff here treated us like FAMILY, completely understood and addressed my concerns regarding cost and getting good care for our dog. I’m HAPPY to say she is doing so very well after being treated here and Prairie Side will always be our forever vet!

Excellent care and they are always friendly. I love that I get a health report card sent to my email after each visit.

Am not very happy with this facility. The employees are unfriendly and sarcastic. The care that is given is more like being neglected on a daily basis. They talk a good talk in the beginning when taking the tour. And then it's totally the opposite when you move in. I would not recommend this if your thinking of finding this type of facility for a loved one.

Although I didn't end up bringing my cat here because it was an emergency type of treatment she needed... The people I spoke to on the phone about her condition were extremely helpful and comforting! I highly recommend!

Very good staff, they treated my dog good and answered questions and gave good advise.

Dr. Ed and his team have been wonderful with us and our dog, Hera. They have handled all of our questions and concerns with care and honesty, which is what you need from a vet. Thank you for the care!

My dog loves dr Williams! Shes super friendly and the staff spoiles my dog everytime she comes in!

Good morning spot I say that only because ive only been there in the morning lol the menu is bound to have something for everyone it has quite a few pages to look over.. prices are comparable to other restaurants around town. Service was good also

I cannot say enough good things about this vet! I live on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin and my dog became sick, very suddenly, and I called around and they were the only Veterinary Hospital nearby that would see my dog in such short notice. I was able to bring her in about an hour after I made the call, which was very appreciated. The vet was very thorough and she took her time and made sure to give me peace of mind. I felt that my dog was in good hands and unlike other vets I've been to, I did not feel rushed and they really did an amazing job of running all the appropriate tests and exams. I unfortunately forgot the Vet's name but she was amazing and considering I was very worried about my dog, she calmed me down and did everything she could do. My pup is feeling considerably better due to the wonderful staff, thank you so much!

They’re more worried about up selling treatments (mainly dental) then anything else. If you leave here owing less then 650$ it will be a surprise. We took our dogs here for about 5-6 years and had to switch. They won’t give you an answer on the cost of treatments anymore because the prices are so outrageous. They charged one of my friends over 1k for shots and stool samples for 2 dogs last year.

They do a great job and care about your pets.

My mom brought her two kittens here for 1st kitten shots. The first visit for one of the kittens was $1.00, not the other and they charged an exam fee for the first shots and then a few weeks later charged an exam fee again for the follow up shots. They scheduled the 2nd appointment for a few days to soon to give the next round of shots, so that was a wasted trip. They sold her deworming medication when the cats didn't have worms. When its all said and done she has spent close to 500.00 to have kitten shots given for two kittens. She also has two sick kittens because of the shots. I would not bring my pets here and would not recommend them to anyone.

Got my puppy in right away, given a thorough exam and sent us home with needed medication. Staff is pleasant and professional.
