Absolute horrible customer service. Atrocious reactions when trying to compromise when services aren’t met. Very biased establishment- surprised they’re in business.

The vet took our bunny in at midnight on a Monday when no one else was able to help us. He spent the next 2 days caring for him and giving him midnight feedings then back at it the next morning at 6am. They truly care about your pet as much as you do.

My partner was in the hospital. THE HOSPITAL. And they asked to speak with her so they can fine us for missing our vet appointment. They care more about money then about customer relations. This also shows they care very little for the pet and will look for top dollar issues.

When I was setting up an appointment the lady was rushing to get off the phone for one! Told me to go on the website to find the new client paper to print out but the website said they had to email that to me and she never said anything about that and hung up. The day of my appointment, I had to wait a hour and 15 mins just to get my bearded dragon nails trimmed. They don’t have good communication. They said they got my bearded dragon and another bearded dragon mixed up, and I don’t know how when mine was in the car with me, so that was their reason for me waiting that long instead of calling me or coming to the car asking if it was my bearded dragon with them. At that my Bearded dragon nails looked the exact same from when he came.

Folks, Don't believe the hype this place gives. This place is clearly looking to get the market cornered in this area. As for not being Board certified Avian professional? Well your name advertises this dorks. It's misleading and totally wrong for people to remotely believe otherwise. I've never been to this place nor will I ever simply because of the price gouging that takes place for treatment and surgeries. There are other exotic vets around the area much better and no where near as expensive. I will take my birds, beardies, and my iguana elsewhere.

My mom had a cockatiel named Kevin. He was 24 years old. Very happy and energetic. Couple weeks ago he developed cancer So, we decided to have him euthanized the only that we knew who could do was the avian exotic bird in Salem. We were very pleased with their service Although my mom did not want to go because it was very hard on her losing Kevin I let her know how he was well cared for. This company really care and they treated us with dignity and respect They put Kevin in a beautiful box with flowers on top and inside he was placed in small blanket and his head on a tiny pillow like. They did a wonderful job of caring for Kevin and my mom was very pleased Thank you so much for your care Although we live an Hour and half away It was worth the trip

Dr Stewart and staff have gone above and beyond for my guinea pigs. We are so thankful to have such an amazing vet in our area! One of the most professional and outstanding things about them is that they call to check on them, and will answer all questions and concerns I have. They are thorough with all check ups and explain everything in detail, which helps me to properly help and treat my senior pigs. The way that they speak about my girls shows me that they care deeply for their quality of life and well being. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with them.

The vet side is wonderful. Don't expect the price quote to be super accurate though I asked when confirming my appointment a rough price because I need to make sure I had enough. They told me roughly 130 so I saved 150 just in case. Now come to find out there are mandatory fees and such that no one told me about, that have to be paid that day, no payment plan or anything. I also made it clear that I work from 11 to 7 and they said that was plenty of time, so now I'm scrambling to find someone to go get my boy because pick up is at 4 and they close at 7. I was willing to pay an overnight hold fee but guess what? Apparently they're closed on Tuesdays. Still love them as far as vet care but don't expect much from the front desk side of things. EDIT: Removed a star because i spoke with the vet we normally use at the store (exotic pet store + breeder) and was told that I paid wayyyy too much. I kinda agree but wasn't going to say anything but if a vet says so unprompted then I'm inclined to agree.

They took great care of my chicken and she made a complete recovery. The care she received, while wonderful, was not really feasible for a farm or flock environment. The services were very expensive. It was ~$500 for treatment of one chicken. There were various additional charges that I did not anticipate. I was charged an additional fee for the tech to demonstrate tube feeding and the required follow-up visit was not included in the original $500 charge. She showed a significant recovery within a few days, but I was still pressured to consider surgery to spay her. If something ever happened to my whole flock, it would not be cost effective to treat them here. I would definitely consider taking my companion animals here in the future. I could tell that all the employees really cared about Tina, even though she’s “just” a chicken :)

One of the best experiences with a vet that I've ever had. My ferret Rikki was feeling sickly so we brought him in to find out that he had stones in his bladder. We were instructed to keep an eye on him and to call if anything got worse over the next couple days. A few days later he started to go downhill very fast, so I called around 3:00 a.m. expecting to leave a message for the following morning... However the phone was answered and we were able to set up an appointment within 20 minutes!! I was definitely not expecting to have a them drive out in the middle of the night just to check on my little guy. They ended up having to do surgery, and now he is on the fast road to a full recovery. Rikki and I were treated amazingly throughout the whole experience with consistent calls to check up on him post surgery, and to schedule follow-up appointments. Could not recommend this place more! 5 out of 5 stars

We live over 1.5 hours away. Our lizard became suddenly ill and we called and were told "come on in". What a blessing. The staff are professional, kind and respectful. Price was very affordable and we are so thankful for your kind services. Dr. Stewartis exceptional, informative and kind. Thank you.

Our scarlet macaw was a very recent addition to our family since his former owner no longer had the time to care for him. We set up an appointment for him right away "about 2 weeks after being re-homed" and we were thrilled that we decided to come to Avian and Exotic Pet Clinic in Roanoke. Dr. Stewart and staff treated Archie with upmost care to trim his nails and polish and trim his beak "which was really needed. He was unable to close his beak before the procedure and had even ground down the left side really bad". Even without being able to put Archie under anesthesia "which was our fault we had let him eat before his appointment" they still managed to do a great job. I posted both before and after photos showing how well they did with our large macaw still awake. Dr. Stewart called and discussed all his health and diet concerns and told us how Archie's appointment went. Dr. Stewart also made diet suggestions which we are currently planning to implement. Archie's stool sample was examined and we also had Archie's blood-work done as requested to make sure he is in good health and are awaiting the results. Archie was happy and eating within 1-2 hours of coming home and is very happy he can once again close his beak. We drove from Lynchburg "over an hour" to come here and were very happy with our visit. The visit was very affordable which is a big plus. We would definitely recommend anyone with a pet bird to come here and I look forward to Archie's next visit here.

Dr Stewart and his staff have been very understanding and patient with me as he helped save the life of one of my fur kids. He would not still be here without them. Thank you

I called for help/advice for a bird issue, they fit me in for an appointment that evening. The staff were all very kind and helpful. Dr. Stewart is excellent, very patient with me (and my chick!) and answered all of my questions. I felt so much better about my chicks predicament after seeing them, and just 3 days later she's doing much better.

Dr. Stewart and staff went above and beyond expectations in making our guinea pig and family feel so loved and cared for. By far the best veterinarian in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas.

Dr. Stewart has the most perfect compassionate bed side manner & the patience of a Saint! We had to meet him under very sad circumstances when our 10 yr old Silkie chicken couldn't walk...he did an ultrasound with us right there holding her for him, didn't have to be separated from our beloved house chicken. He confirmed a huge mass pressing on her organs most likely cancer ???? with the only humane thing to do for her was to help her cross...I was very emotional & he handled us with the utter most kindness & compassion ???? I would not hesitate to bring any of our beloved pets to him! Just wish we could have met under better circumstances. A huge thank you to Dr. Stewart for being there for us when we needed him most!????

So much compassion and commitment to clients and their pets. They are not out there looking to make a buck, they truly care about their patients. I highly recommend them for all of your exotic pet needs.

I moved to Roanoke a few months ago and Dr. Stewart was recommended by my cat's vet. My elderly guinea pig had an emergency and had to be put down. Dr. Stewart was able to see us on a Saturday with no notice. He explained all my options, but unfortunately there was not much he could do. He was so kind and compassionate with my Ferdie and his receptionist talked with me for about 20 minutes and helped comfort me. I have 3 other pigs and I can't imagine taking them anywhere else.

I am incredibly thankful to Dr. Stewart for everything he's done for my pet. After taking my guinea pig to another veterinarian who could not properly offer a diagnosis, I brought him without an appointment to Dr. Stewart who was willing to see him on an already busy day. He was quickly able to offer a diagnosis, and his staff took the time to teach me how to treat my guinea pig. Since this initial visit we've been seeing Dr. Stewart and his team long term, and they've continued to be exceptionally helpful and compassionate. These are wonderful people with genuine concern for the animals they work with.

I called in on Monday with a sick guinea pig and they squeezed us in. We came home with meds, special food and treats. All of the meds were drawn up and ready to go. Took much stress off of an already very stressful situation. Dr. Stewart and his staff were all so kind gentle and helpful. So fortunate to have him in our area.

Dr. Stewart is kind, intelligent, and highly skilled. He has taken great care of our snakes and even alleviated some of our guinea pig's suffering before she passed. I trust him with my pets' lives. When I move from the Roanoke area I will miss his compassionate care.
