Started going here when our regular vet still wasn’t allowing us to come in masked during Covid-19. I have one anxious pup that I was not handing off from car as that would be unnecessarily traumatic for her. So, far we like Longmeadow and they have ways to help save us money on medication and multi-animal homes which is was unexpected and very helpful. We will continue to go here. We’ve been here for about a year so far and all the staff has been polite and very helpful and kind to our babies on routine visits and vaccination appointments.

I contacted them to make an appointment and no one reached out to me. I checked my email and everything… and no response. Already bad service in my opinion. SMH.

Needed a vet to see our one kitten, Friday night could not get help. Sat called Long Meadow and got an appointment for 10:40. This is the second time they have come through for us. Thanks, I highly recommend them!

My pets are children to me, very very dear to my heart. My dear Teddy Bear cat was in a terrible way, not able to eat and had labored breathing. Although in my heart I knew I would probably not go home with him after going to the vet, I trusted the staff at Long meadow Animal Veterinary to give the most honest, most compassionate and professional prognosis . They are the best one could ever hope for. Sweet Teddy Bear is now at peace asleep, and while my heart aches, I know I did my best, all the way till the end. Thank you so much

I called to make an appointment for a new pet that I have and was told that they are not accepting new patients. I have taken my animals here for years I understand not taking on new clients but my other pets are established at this practice. So I was forced to make an appointment with another practice for my new pet and will now be transferring my other pets as well so that I will have them all at one practice. I have always been satisfied with the care I am just disappointed ☹️.

My cat is dead because of this joke of a vet. In particular the vet Rebecca Gurshman. They said my cat wasn't in critical condition and she died 12 hours later. They approached everything wrong, the communication was terrible, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They lie and can't even admit their mistakes.

I have been taking my dog here since he was born almost 14 years ago. I’ve had very few complaints. They care a great deal about your pet & very accommodating if your pet is ill. One time my dog got sick & the next morning I drove him here & parked in the parking lot & when they opened I took him in & they saw him right away. My dog is used to going here & I don’t think I could trust another vet with him.

We have 2 pure bred pitbulls, 1 red and 1 blue. So naturally one has skin issues. We had taken our babies to...I can't remember the name...over by city park. Right next to the circle over there. They were NOT pleasant and clearly didn't like pitbulls. When I found Longmeadow, I was skeptical. But from the second I walked in the door, I knew my babies were in good hands! Everyone was extremely welcoming and made the effort to stop and say hello to my handsome boy! The exam went well, was told what to change and what not to change to make him comfortable. The Dr we saw took her time with us. We didn't feel rushed or like we were just another #. We've had to go back 2 more times. Once more for Rocko who has the skin issues and brought his sister, Sasha over for her yearly. We have to put Rocko on Apoquel which is not cheap and a long term med. We weren't pushed into making a decision and was given several options and locations to get this med at it's lowest price. I give these guys 6 out of 5 stars! Great location, one visit with shots, trimming nails, physical...$150. Was prescribed prednisone for 2 weeks...$18. Sasha's physical with shots $120 I believe? I may be wrong with prices but I know for a fact I didn't pay more than $150 for any appt. I've had to call with a couple questions after visit, they took my call right away. They even called a couple days after appt to check on my baby boy. I get texts when it's time to come in. Truly great office! Thank you to everyone there for treating us like family. You have a life long customer in us!

We have been a taking our pets to Longmeadow Animal Hospital for years. We also board our animals there, too. My latest experience was upsetting and frustrating. We took our dog there in July for intermittent vomiting with blood. After explaining the symptoms, the vet thought it was a GI bug or partial obstruction (even though our dog doesn't really eat things he shouldn't - he is a dog, so maybe?). We did two weeks of supportive care, and he didn't improve. I brought him back and another vet saw him. The first thing she said was "Oh, there are sooooo many things we can do." I was not comforted by her enthusiasm. Instead I felt like I was about to get price gouged. I told her we needed to be judicious with spending. We love our dog greatly, but we didn't have thousands of dollars to work up a diagnosis. She seemed irritated. When I questioned rationale for diagnostics and treatments, she seemed to water down her explanations like she thought I couldn't understand. When I pressed harder, like asking what the mechanism of action was for a certain medication - indicating I might be smart enough the understand her complicated vet talk - she answered "the medications work together." Hmmmm.... that's scientific. She suggested I do lab work including send out blood to major vet center for specialty work up ($$$), xray ($150) and ultrasound ($200). I opted to start with basic blood work. She quickly told me that she could send me down the road to do an endoscopy with biopsy ($2,000+). What an unsympathetic response to someone that clearly loves their animals but can't afford that kind of work up. I agreed to try a hydrolyzed protein doggie diet at $100 for a bag to help rule out food allergies along with an extensive medication regime. A week later things weren't better, I came back and she said to stay the course or get the $2,000 endoscopy. It didn't sit right with me. Something bigger was wrong. This wasn't food allergies. Within a few days, I could no longer ignore my feelings that something wasn't right. I brought my dog to VetUrgency in Frederick. With a simple physical exam, the vet identified that something wasn't right with his abdomen. We confirmed with X-rays that the clinical picture appeared to be CANCER. The next day I took my dog to another local vet who offered to do an ultrasound for $50 (not the $200 that Longmeadow Animal Hospital wanted to charge) and further added to the diagnosis of CANCER with splenic lesions and fluid around his enlarged liver. In just 24 hours, the dog had become tachypenic and restless. We made the painful decision to put him to rest. I am not mad that my dog had cancer. That's no one's fault. I am not even mad that they didn't catch it sooner because it wouldn't have changed anything. We wouldn't have treated the cancer. We would only have made our sweet dog comfortable which we already did. I am mad at how I was treated. Longmeadow was not collaborative in their care. They seemed more interested in pushing expensive tests and products. They also didn't listen to my concerns. The clinical picture did not look like food allergies. My dog lost 10% of his body weight in weeks and was vomiting blood daily - that's not food allergies. When I pushed back that certain test and procedures were unnecessary, instead of working with me, they presented more expensive options. When I tried to get some of the medications cheaper on line, they refuse to fax in prescriptions. They will give you a written prescription which you have to mail in... with the recent delays in USPS that seems unnecessary and not in the best interest of caring for sick animals. Of course, you can pay double with them to get the medications immediately. I needed a script for a new dog food since my dog didn't like the first one, and they would not even email or fax it to me. Even when I told them I worked 60 miles away and would have to come and get the script then drive back to Frederick to get the food. Come on! Its dog food. Animals don't come first there.... $$$ does.

Had to put down a dog and they were very friendly through the process and honest with me about my options. Although the experience was horrible, they were professional and had my best interest in mind.
