My cat was diagnosed with diabetes in early 2019. I kept her alive since then but recently times have been tough for everyone. I got laid off and affording the over priced diabetic supplies became too much. Pet insurance wasn’t an option …

Very caring and understanding personnel. Although we didn’t receive good news after they did the X-rays on our friend’s pet Venus, they made the process a bit less stressful and allowed us to share with our friend via FaceTime so that he could say his goodbyes. Thank you.

In the past few months we had three occasions that needed emergency treatment. The third did not end well. At all times the clinic people were kind, considerate and clear. Because of covid interaction over telephone was kinda difficult for us, but the technicians and veterinarians were never impatient and thoroughly answered our concerns and questions. The final trip was, of course, difficult for us and for the sister dog. We were treated kindly through our tears. The clinic folks were sensitive with the sister and helped us understand her concerns.

I’m currently outside of Artemis waiting for my baby boy Pawsley. He’s a 6 month old Toy Goldendoodle. The staff has been AMAZING. So kind and so attentive and the Dr. was so sweet and thorough in our discussion. Pawsley was experiencing vomiting and diarrhea over the weekend. He also lost his appetite and was very lethargic. I became concerned when I noticed that he’d pulled bits of string off of the end of his rope toy and immediately worried that he may have an intestinal blockage. I called his vet and they were fully booked but recommended that I take him to the ER. I rushed to Med Vet in Manassas as this is where we used to take my last dog years ago. I had a HORRIBLE experience there. Pawsley didn’t even make it inside. When I was finally able to get someone on the phone at Med Vet they very nonchalantly told me they were at capacity and I needed to go to Woodbridge. Mind you their parking lot was virtually empty. This was after I called 5 times but their phone was off the hook. Once I got someone on the phone they put me on hold for 5 minutes. Then came back and turned us away. I literally burst into tears. I couldn’t believe their reaction and lack of care or concern. Literally the worst customer service I’ve experienced with my baby boy so far. I called Artemis and explained my situation and they were so compassionate and told me to come right away. I arrived and though they had cars in their parking lot, they immediately answered the phone and came out to take Pawsley in. They’ve been FANTASTIC. Pawsley received phenomenal care and we walked away with a treatment plan and I’m so happy and relieved.THANK YOU ARTEMIS!!!

My experience at this place was excellent. My puppy got diagnosed with Parvo Virus 2 days after we got him. Artemis made sure that he was given everything necessary in order to fight the virus, they were so helpful, patient and gave very knowledgeable information. This hospital, Vet and the staff are absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for helping Sawyer!!! I am more than grateful.

They almost let my dog die by saying she was not an emergency and the vet take lady that comes out to your car was very very rude. Even called on the way to let them know my dog was bit by something and her leg was swollen very bad with bad wound. Went to Manassas emergency very nice and ran out to grab my dog immediately and good thing they did cause she was on the verge of dying! This place does not care about your dog take them to Manassas instead.

Called ahead that my dog had possible copperhead snake bite she had swollen leg heavy breathing and wouldn't stop bleeding. I arrived and checked in the receptionist was polite and thorough and told me someone would be out shortly. After waiting patiently for 45min another car pulled into the parking lot and 2min later they came right out for a dog that looked fine they said had respiratory issues and was more important than my dog ( literal word from the vet's mouth and with a snarky attitude) very unprofessional! I left and went to med vet and was seen in 15min with a full parking lot! So take your animals here if you want to waste your time and be told you are not important!

Our dog had blood in his stool and I called to ask if we should bring him in for emergency care. The response I got was, "If you think he needs to be seen, he needs to be seen. We don't diagnose over the phone." I'm not a vet. I'm not qualified to make that decision. That's what we (would have) paid them for. Will never again use them. If I was qualified to make that decision I would be a vet and not an IT guy.

Great vet that saved our bullmastiff's life.... He had eaten many grapes that are toxic for dogs and they immediately stopped everything, swooped our dog into the exam room and pumped his stomach so he wouldn't die. They are truly life savers and I really appreciate all their quick efforts to save our family member George the bullmastiff. A++++

Very good emergency veterinary. I had to bring my dog Silver here because he had kidney damage due to too many drugs given to him for TPLO and dental work. He had to stay there for a couple of days, and they took care of him and kept me informed, I am very impressed with their staff and doctors. They also provided kidney care food to last me until I got an online order. I can tell when my dog is treated well because he's a very skittish rescue and he has no issues walking into this vet, compared to other veterinarians where he pulls back as we approach their door.

My mom brought my cat, Mindy, here on Sunday night due to a medical emergency. I live out of town so I was unable to be there with her. Mindy was my first pet and I’ve had her for almost 14 years so it was devastating not to be able to be there with her. My mom rushed my cat to Artemis after her health suddenly deteriorated. She told me that she got lost on the way there but someone stayed with her on the phone and guided her to the location. She said the vet was super thorough and helpful. My mom had to make the difficult decision to put my cat down and they were there with her through the whole process. I called the day after to ask for clarification on what happened. One of the vet techs explained the situation and also told me about the cremation process. I’m really impressed with the private cremation and how the ashes will be in a wooden urn with a clay paw print of my cat and also a plaque with her name on it. I plan on keeping that forever. Thank you to all the staff at Artemis for making this as easy as possible on myself and my mother.

(1/16/2021 4:58 AM) Took my pet to this location because his face was swollen and his breathing is shallow. Called the outside RECORDED line and the lady told me to go to Med Vet Northern Va because the doctor is in surgery. She also stated that, “They will just give him a Benadryl shot and steroids anyway” and nice asked if I needed directions. We are in Gainesville so the next emergency vet is 30 mins away (I used google maps app like every millennial would) this is ridiculous. Never again.

Our Bichon became seriously ill with organ failure due to an infection... Everyone at Artemis from the front desk to the vet techs were wonderful... It was a very clean facility... Dr. Galanis was very smart decisive and saved our dogs life... she answered all my questions, put us at ease while she was hospitalized... Staff took my 4 a.m. calls to check on her currrent lab values and condition.. In an emergency situation I highly recommend Artemis..

They were absolutely wonderful! This place has very nice, caring and knowledgeable personnel. They even gave our pup a get well soon card. No one wants to be at a vet emergency but if you are in this awful position, this is definitely the place to go to.

I feel lucky to have Artemis so close to home. I’ve driven by their facility almost every day, and have always found it comforting to know that there is an emergency vet a mile from where my dogs and I live. I was hoping that we would never need to make a trip to the emergency vet, but when my dog became so sick that she didn’t want to walk, I immediately called Artemis. This was right when Covid-19 hit, but their facility was still fully staffed when we arrived at 5:30am on a Monday morning. As terrifying as it was to have my dog in such an ill state, the staff at Artemis were so comforting and kind to both of us, and I could instantly tell that they genuinely enjoy caring for their patients. The process was extremely quick for them to diagnose her, which they had thought was a blockage. Surgery was an option, but the vet had highly suggested that we wait a day to see if she could pass whatever it was naturally, which luckily, she did. They gave her fluids to re-hydrate her before sending us off, and gave us clear instructions and a few prescriptions to bring home with us. Even a couple of days after our visit, Artemis was still calling to see how she was doing. They also coordinated with our family vet, Ohana, to help simplify things on our end which we greatly appreciated. The care we received from Artemis was top-notch, and if we ever find ourselves in a scary situation again, I know we’ll be back in good hands.

We were unfortunate in needing to go to an emergency vet but very fortunate in finding Lindsey and Dr Scherrer! Both were so kind and patient with us and our poor pup! Thank you!

We had a to visit Artemis a week ago due to our dog becoming very sick. Unfortunately, we had to put her down, but thru all the sadness, I have to say the team here was absolutely wonderful to us. They showed true compassion in a time that was so hard for our family. I would highly recommend them.

Our 15 year old cat, One Eyed Jack, had long time kidney failure. He took a turn for the worse recently and we tried to get an appointment with our usual vet. The earliest date we could get was a few weeks out. We called Artemis and were able to get in that afternoon. The COVID procedures were excellent, we felt very safe. Unfortunately after an exam we had to make the choice to put Jack down. The staff, Doctor and process were all caring, very understanding and respectful. The room was very peaceful and we were able to say goodbye to our long time friend, taking as much time as desired and being there with him to the end and afterward to say a final goodbye. All the staff were very understanding, including sending a signed condolence card a couple weeks after our visit. We were also very pleased the cost was quite reasonable and very much in line with what our usual vet charges. Bottom line we whole heartedly recommend Artemis for quality animal care.

Our 1 year old Husky had eaten 10+ pieces of sugar free gum (xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs and can be deadly if not treated promptly) and showed symptoms within 30 minutes. We arrived at Artemis within an hour and they quickly began treatment. Everyone was very helpful and polite during our pup's time here and we were able to take her home after just 1 night. I was skeptical about her quick release considering the seriousness this POISON can cause, and even asked if she should stay another night just to be sure, but they assured us she was ready to go and didn't turn it into an opportunity to make more money. Hopefully never have to go back again, but this will be the place to go if needed. Thank you for taking great care of our baby during a truly scary time!

Worst experience ever. Do not go here. Horrible customer service and bedside manner. They have no respect for your time or your pet’s health.

If I could give 0 stars I would, I came to this location because my dog had an allergic reaction and broke out into hives. After she was seen one of the vet assistants were extremely rude after checking out my pet when I asked if there was a payment plan. When asked she said “No your pet was already seen and given treatment that’s not our problem anymore” and rolled her eyes. Also after calling asking what it was that my pet had been allergic too because she had just gotten vaccinated the day before they said they had no idea and to call my regular vet. Now I fear for my pet for when she gets her next vaccinations if the same thing will happen to her again and I will have to pay another $300 for something that could’ve been solved today. Never coming here again and also telling other pet owners to avoid this location. Honestly so disappointed and extremely upset.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE; they deserve better and so do you as your fur baby's owner. I had a very negative experience at Artemis last night when my senior dog required emergency services. Upon getting a Vet recommended pain injection for a shoulder injury at Artemis, I took my dog home and he got drastically and progressively worse. Within the 3 hours of no improvement, I called them back and they said they would need diagnostics to allow me to put my dog and I would have to pay for them and the euthanasia, which was over $614 just for him to be euthanized and that was not including the price of the visit from earlier that evening. I decided to call another another emergency vet to see it was less and it was less than 475 dollars for diagnostics and to put my dog down with dignity and compassion. When I called Artemis back to see if they would at least match the price since they were closer and that's where I was initially, I sadly and very unfortunately had to speak with Laurie/Lori, one of the assistants at Artemis who has no appropriate interpersonal skills. She laughed at me when I communicated to her the state of my dog. She said, "Just because you're dog is breathing heavily does not mean he has to die!" Immediately after she said that she laughed with complete disregard to what the situation was at hand. She has no compassion, empathy or basic interpersonal skills to be in the field of animal emergency services. I put the phone I speaker so she could hear what my dog was going through and she quickly retracted her voice to a less vile tone. My dog couldn't even get up to walk and Artemis missed how severe his cardiac arithmea had become and thought it was best to just manage his pain. My dog had to unnecessarily suffer as a result of their negligence. They do not care about the animals; it was purely transactional experience for monetary gain only and an incredibly negative one at that.

The staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and responsive. The facility was clean and inviting. I hope to not be back for a while, but I would definitely go again in a heartbeat if I were concerned for a pet’s health.

There is a woman vet here that has zero compassion and needs a reality check. As I have rescued multiple pets and gave them the best care and even have revolved my whole life around and schedule to make them well for years and put my own life on hold for them.... To have a "professional" vet scream at me to put my cat down like I WAS MAKING HIM SUFFER, is absolutely despicable! This is not the first time I have been here but this is the first time I have dealt with this veternarian. The tech and receptionist were very kind towards me as I already foresaw the unfortunate death of my little baby coming.... But for a vet to act as If I was neglectful and uncaring for him... Shame on her! She has no idea what i have done for him! The first vet who saw him this past Monday when I came in was very kind to me and suggested euthanizing him because his quality of life do to his diabetes and progression of kidney disease just wouldn't be good for him... It was when the shift change happened and I got the new vet "caring" for him .well when I asked for his blood sugar to be tested again she refused and said she would only do it if I ran ALL his blood work. $800! Afterwards, I asked the tech to have this new vet come in so I could ask to have him put down as soon as my mother came in, so I would not have him suffer anymore.. and this woman started viciously verbally attacking me by saying I caused him to be like that and started describing all the things he was suffering from.... Well lady he only got sick all of a sudden. The vet that I had previously suddenly came in the room as the new vet was harping me about his pain in the most uncompassionate manner, and she said my kitty was seizing... The new vet screamed at me "Just let me put him out of his misery!" And ran out of the room to put my cat down... i had already made the decision of putting him down and just was waiting for my mom to come to say goodbye... She was a minute away and they knew it. Well the other vet came back in after the new one ran out and she asked me "are you sure you want to put him down now? I have to get second authorization." And I said yes. But to be pressured into it, screamed and to be blamed after so much I had done for this little baby.... And NOT SAY GOODBYE TO HIM, was horrible. And then for that cynical woman to not even come back in and apologize and say it was done... Was absolutely unacceptable. This woman is absolutely terrible and she should in no way be treating people in that manner. FOR HER TO ACT LIKE I NEGLECTED HIM AND CAUSED HIS SUFFERING when this kitty had no signs of abuse or neglect... He was 20 years old... They aren't going to be in perfect shape.. certainly not after I had already saved him once before from death.... Let's say this woman is just into money and making animal parents suffer... and maybe even animals too. Because who knows how she can actually care for them when she can't even be kind to strangers...wouldn't even check one simple thing for me... Without wanting whatever she wanted to do for $800 more than what it was already going to be for putting him down and cremation... Well for one thing this lady needs to know that no one surrenders their right or decisions for the care of their animals when they come in. At the end of the day it is OUR decision on what we do with them. So if I am spending MY money I can have you check whatever I would like, because the vet does not know everything about the animal or previous medical history.. You are at the service of my animal and I, not your own agenda. It's too bad this is one of the only emergency vets around here. Because I never want to come again. And I have friends who went here and had the same thing happen to them with this uncaring woman. Shame on her! Like I said the tech and the receptionist were very kind to me. But this woman vet is the worst I have ever dealt with!

The Vets there guilt tripped me with a 7 week old pup with parvo. I am not a monster, I don't make the big bucks, but i really fought hard for that dog. Charged me 500 bucks for a 10 dollar iv bag and needles and sent me on my way to bury my dog. They knew he wasn't going to make it. They knew he didn't have a chance, but boy did they sell it like it was 50/50. These people knew it wasn't going to work. Look no further than their response below. Two grand for spinal tap and feeding tube, or putting him to death. They didn't even think that was going to work. Then they said, "Oh well fluids at home might do the trick, its 50/50!" It was a lie for a quick money grab so they could make rent. I am sure this rebuttal will be priceless. Ask your vet about this place...they'll tell you the truth.

The staff was wonderful and compassionate, especially during my time of crisis when I brought my dog in for treatment. They treated me like I would imagine they would want to be treated during a very stressful event.

Artemis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Services Stay away from this place—A big Money Grab. And prices are CRAZY. DO NOT take your pet to this vet! My experience with them was disgusting! Very incompetent. The nurse did not know the gender of my poodle. I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism. Doctor did not even come in the room, did not diagnose the dog and DID NOT SPEAK TO ME. The nincompoop nurse had the program down…FULL SERVICE>>>MAXIMUM CHARGES… typical scare tactic saying the dog could be maimed for life…and she could not tell the gender of the male dog! They play on the stress you have for the possibility of losing your loved family pet. And, the doctor will not come out until you agree to the exorbitant costs Then I go up front to pay, the receptionist says my total is $400-something, this seemed very high to me even being an emergency clinic. I asked for an itemized invoice. She said she could not give me a bill until I paid. I paid and then asked for the receipt. She said they email them. CROOKS! She did not want to give me the bill for fear that I would complain and other customers were standing there. Charges are not commensurate with the services provided. They are new and struggling to produce AT YOUR COST with totally outrageous fees for services that could have been done for a fraction of the charges. Atemis was more concerned about payment. They don’t care about your pet, they care about MONEY. Please pass this on to your pet owning friends and family. However, this experience was the WORST I've had.

I took my 15 year old Chihuahua here after he injured his paw and was limping. I had first went to another emergency vet but they had a long wait time and they called over to Artemis to see how busy they were at the time. My dog was seen right away and Dr. Scherrer explained her findings and diagnosis. I felt like my fur baby was evaluated and taken care of properly.
