Dr. Murphy has been our vet for many years. Recently we had to put down our wonderful Himalayan cat who never met a stranger. He was loved by all and Dr Murphy was very sensitive and kind helping him cross the rainbow bridge.

There’s no better veterinary practice in NoVA. Dr. Boyd is especially wonderful. We feel like the doctors and staff “know” us and our pets and truly care.

I love this vet clinic and their incredible staff. After the passing of my Chihuahua, they were prompt in next steps and followed up with a kind sympathy card. My other pets continue to receive care here and there is always a follow up after procedures, I genuinely feel like the staff here is invested in the well-being of pets and owners.

It’s just one of the best places that I know; however, it’s so expensive compared to other places. Yet, I want the best care.

We've been coming to Caring Hands since we adopted our dog as a puppy. We have 2 that are cared for there now. We moved about 20 miles away and tried a local vet. Our dog, who's never met a stranger, didn't seem happy going there so we gladly make the drive to see the friendly and professional folks at Caring Hands!

Dr. Richardson was polite, gentle, and quick. He made sure I did not have any questions or concerns about my dogs health during her wellness exam. He took the time to explain a mild illness that my dog suffered and recovered from on her own that I had asked about. He delivered the annual vaccine my dog needed with care and ease. My dog was comfortable and loved on by Dr. Richards and the vet tech during her exam. The tech was also gentle and caring. She made sure my dogs records were up to date and made my visit as efficient as possible. My appointment was at 4:30, I was seen at 4:35 and was out by 5:00. Compared to previous vet experiences in the area, I'm ecstatic this practice values their customer's time as well as their own. Thanks!

We started bringing our dog, Elvis, to Caring Hands as soon as he was adopted. They were great throughout the years with routine care,  but things changed once Elvis began having a more serious issue. Getting them to take us seriously and not brush us off took 3 appointments within the span of 8-10 weeks. At our last visit, I demanded they take me seriously, listen & do more. They ran a wider blood panel (which we wanted to do the first appointment but Dr. Karen Murphy advised against), a Lyme test, and checked his other vitals. We were told on the phone after his results were in that they think he had Addison’s disease which affects the adrenal glands and makes it so he cannot regulate his hormones. After doing my own research, I then learned that Addison’s disease, when left untreated, is fatal. We again had to fight to get Elvis in for a 4th appointment to be tested to get an actual diagnoses. He was tested for two hours and it was then confirmed he had Addison’s. He was prescribed Prednisone immediately but would need a shot once a month for the rest of his life to regulate himself. We were told Elvis’ other medication would come in 5-10 or 7-10 (I’m not certain on what they said) days or we can take the prescription ourselves to see if we can find it faster. We took the prescription & ordered it ourselves but us not being a Vet, we were not able to rush the medication. Unfortunately, the information we were told by Dr. Grant Richards, that the prednisone would be enough and that he would be okay was not true, and due to the lack of urgency on obtaining Elvis’ medication, our dog suffered a heart attack & was found in our home unresponsive (he was only 6 years old). Caring Hands lack of sympathy during that time and the amount of time Dr. Karen Murphy interrupted my conversation to tell me I was wrong, is completely unacceptable. If they diagnosed our dog with a fatal disease, why didn’t they rush our dogs medication or why don’t they have access to that medication quicker than 5-10 days? While we take partial blame for not being even more demanding about our dog, we primarily blame Caring Hands Animal Hospital in Bristow for the death of our beloved dog. In addition- we had to put our cat down in May (less than 3 months prior), we were not sent a card or acknowledgment other than what the cremation services gave us. However, Caring Hands sent us a card for Elvis and told us they made a donation in his honor which makes me believe they know they did wrong, even though Dr. Karen Murphy or Dr. Grant Richards never admitted any fault. Caring Hands is severely overbooked, accepts new patients, and makes their current ones wait weeks to be seen. I do not recommend this veterinary clinic if you don’t not want to be brushed off about your animals and if you want to be taken seriously.

I took my 9 yr old dog in today with multiple concerns. Dr Gemmill listened thoroughly and helped me prioritize care for my sweet girl. I have always had kind, patient vets at Caring Hands.

They have been great to me and my family! I have used a few different locations now and all have had caring staff. I have loved being at the Bristow location now for almost a year. I have been able to get appointments pretty quickly, if needed talk to a vet via phone to see if I needed an emergency visit or could wait til next day, had calls/emails checking to make sure my dog was doing better after she was sick and the day after she got her shots to make sure there wasn't a reaction. They always answer any questions I have had and willing to provide printouts with info so I can make the best decision without being pressured at the office. Thank you for helping keep my girl safe and healthy!

The staff at caring hands is awesome! Over a year ago we had to put down our beloved 11 year old German Shepherd. He was already unable to get into any of our vehicles to take him to the vet, so Dr. McDonald and her tech. Would make house calls! When it came time to put him down in February 2020, they made their last house call for Dexter. Dr. McDonald and her tech. were so sweet and professional and made his passing so much more bearable. Our other animals have been seen by the other doctors and all of them are just amazing! Thank you and all of your staff for all you've done! Caring Hands in Bristow really goes that extra step!

My pup means the world to me and Caring Hands made all of my feelings, thoughts, and questions feel validated. They answer all questions and make you and your pup feel loved and cared for. This is my fourth move and out of all of the vets this one is hands down the best. I feel very at ease during covid to have my pup in their hands throughout the day. They checked all of the boxes other vets didn’t to get down to a reasoning for my pup’s illness and took it head on with the best care possible.

I love this place because my two standard poodles love this place. The staff treats them like the rock stars they are. We always receive excellent care, which is worth its weight in gold when it comes to the health of our pets. Highly recommend!

As part of my dog adoption from the PWC animal shelter, I had to have my dog neutered and I selected Caring Hands from my three options. I am so pleased with how my dog was welcomed and treated by the staff. The care he received was excellent and the services he received were very fairly priced. They had extra safety precautions in place during the COVID pandemic, but I still found they were able to be very communicative with me throughout the entire process. I will highly recommend them to others.
