I was a very happy client at Yelm Vet for 13 years until this year's TERRIBLE experience with a vet we hadn't seen before --Dr. Raleigh. This is a 1 star rating based on that intolerably unprofessional experience that put my dog's health at risk . My husband took our 14-year-old dog in for an eye infection and health check. Dr. Raleigh never spoke with my husband, but conveyed a bunch of care notes through the vet tech. He was never apprised of the severity of the situation, but was asked to give the prescribed meds and come back for a follow up in two weeks. We were not given a collar to protect our dog's eye. When I brought the dog back, I asked for clarification and prognosis since her eye and not improved much with treatment, and then the day before she had bumped her eye on something which made it even worse. Dr. Ralieigh advised me to give my dog newmedicine and come back again. I was asking for her longer term prognosis given that the initial treatment hadn't seem to do much. I stated I didn't want to simply come in over and over unless she thought this was the best course of treatment since my dog's eye seemed pretty bad to me! She became heated, stated SHE HAD ALREADY TOLD ME this indformation last time! (Duh, my husband came in last time. The man is not a liart, but even if he was and Dr. R. actually spoke with him which she didn't, clearly she can tell the difference between a man with a German accent and a woman?) Since we paid over $400 for the fist visit, I certainly didn't feel it was justified to continue treatment there without knowing her thoughts on how well this course of action might work compared to taking my dog to a specialist. She was unwilling to say how many visits her plan might take until I pushed our discussion to the limit -- finally she stated I might bring the dog in every two weeks for two or more months or more because it was a serious situation, and she couldn't apprise me of any of the expenses involved, and whether each appointment would continue to be $400. How irresponsible unprofessional, and offensive! To top it off, their office did not link this visit to any of my dog's previous treatment records there--this woman treated me like an unknown and unwelcome bother who was wasting her time with questions when she hadn't even spoken with me or my husband directly about our old and precious dog. Her tone was like "do what you're told and don't ask any questions." Needless to say we've transferred care to an opthamologist who was up front about the substantial costs of treating this problem and who comes highly recommended by other veterinarians. If you go to Yelm Vet, you will find many excellent veterinarians. Steer clear of Dr. Raleigh.

We have our 3 pups with Yelm Veterinary. We appreciate the kindness that the vet tech and vets provide. One of our puppies had an umbilical hernia and the surgical sight has faded very nicely. You can hardly see it unless you know where to look. Even before we brought our youngest puppy home, we had a nice informative conversation with the vet about best options as two of our puppies are 7 weeks apart. One is a large breed and the other a giant breed and we want to do what's best for both of them over the long run for their joints and health. But, also not produce a litter of puppies when the female goes into heat. The vet provided us much details and thoughtful considerations as to neutering our male pup. We feel much better about the health and longevity for their joints. We usually have appointments and are in and out in a timely manner; we rarely have an extended wait time. However, after adopting one of our pups, we felt that she needed to be seen and they had no appointments available that day, but could do an Urgentcare walk in. We checked in and this was the first time we sat for quite awhile. We wish that the front office had communicated this information to us, rather leaving us to to wonder why a weight check would take so long. We discovered that the vet wanted to see our gal since we were wondering if she was underweight. The reason that I have rated this 4 stars is due to several continuing front desk mistakes and the many inconveniences because of these mistakes.

I have never experienced worse customer service than I have at this vet. Please save yourself the time and troubles, and go elsewhere. I should have known it was a red flag when they were able to get me in for an appt as a new client within 2 days. As you know, many vets are not taking new clients, and if they are, booking is months out. You will receive a different answer to your question every time you call. The puppy plan is a joke, I signed up with this plan on Saturday. On Monday, my puppy was extremely sick (vomited 12 times & was having diarrhea after medicine and a shot they had given.) I called between 9-10 am and was told they could not take her in, they were busy today and I needed to go elsewhere. It’s crazy because If I did not sign up with a puppy plan, they would have gladly taken her and charged me an emergency fee and all these other fees. This vet only cares about racking up a bill and taking your money. The 3 minutes or less I was able to speak with the vet (on the phone from the car during the appt) she was not very friendly. I will never be going to this vet again and caution everyone to go elsewhere.

YVH was able to take me on as a new client. I was able to schedule vaccines and routine care easily. When my cat stopped eating well for a few days I was able to get her seen with a walk in appointment within 48 hours!!!! The staff is kind and ready to help.I'm so thankful and appreciative. Dr. French was thorough, knowledgeable, and cared about my pet's comfort. The techs kept me updated with my estimate and communicated what she needed for home care. Thank you for working when you're understaffed and busier than ever. Ducky and I appreciate this clinic so much.

They are good Veterinarians and good people with big hearts. My Lil sister's 7 month old puppy had run off to the back of our property and was attacked by something. We got him to Yelm Veterinarian as fast as we could! The Vet working that morning ran outside with me to our car to assess Red immediately. His injuries were too extensive for them equipment wise. She referred us to an animal hospital who was able to help us. Yelm Veterinarian Clinic never charged us for this. Most Veterinarian clinics charge $50 for an assessment without treatment. I have never forgotten this. I am loyal to this Clinic for revealing their hearts to me. For being compassionate good people.

They are not taking new patients. We were there 7 years ago but they didn't have time to check. Our regular vet took 10 days to get in. Everyone is stressed.

They were completely unstaffed when they should have been according to all of the information I could attain before arriving. I drive the half hour there from downtown (where I found an I injured corvid near my home) only to find it dark and with a sign on the door about staffing problems. They realistically should have posted something to their website amended their voicemail / call-routing system. If that was inaccessible to them, then they need a new / more adaptable system so changes like that can be made. If not, then at least 1 person could be on-site to reroute people coming in with urgent issues. UPDATE: someone labelled as the owner responded to my comment. Their response did not acknowledge that I called them in advance and blamed me for trying to bring them wildlife because of that. My comment that they need to do some work on their call-routing/voicemail system to address the problem. Maybe it wasn't worth their time - but with a response like that, they get to keep their 1-star review.

This clinic was very compassionate and caring. They accommodated helping us with end of life care for our beloved dog. This is not my regular clinic as they were closed on our day of need. I want to thank the staff here for helping us during a tough time. Our family appreciates all you do and thank you for your dedicated work.

Competent, thoughtful, pet- and human- friendly service at a difficult time for family. Our old lady dog was relaxed and comfortable. Staff utilized infection control precautions. Made the day easier on arrival and on departure.

I was a complete mess when our guinea pig was passing away. Unfortunately he didn't make the trip to the vet and passed away when we got there. Everyone that helped me. ( wish I could remember their names) were so compassionate and caring. The receptionist was quick to get a tech out to me to check on our little furry friend. Thank you to the staff for making a difficult time for us easier.

I just wanted to thank the staff for being so kind, gentle and caring. We had to have my daughters dog Euthanized yesterday and as heartbreaking as it was, you can tell that they really care and that helped us through. We were reassured that we were making the right decision at the right time! Thank you so very much for helping us to help our sweet baby go gently and peacefully!

I Called to bring my Basset Hound in due to he had a wound above his left shoulder blade that he was bleeding heavily from. He is mostly outside and inside when he eats.. so I can't figure out how it happened. So according to their website they close at 7pm and I called at 5:15 pm so plenty of time to be seen, but they refused to see my dog. Told me to take him to Olympia or even to Lakewood or as far as Tacoma. So how can you claim a small community but not support your community?

I love the fact they are so accommodating. They accept walk ins. Sometimes you have an urgent matter that doesn't require an ER visit but can't wait weeks for an appointment. I've never lived in a place where you can't just walk in until I moved here
