Very obscure “membership” requirements. Go to Wet Noses Dry Paws, they’re amazing and they don’t DISCRIMINATE against the breeds that Fort Fido does.

I wish my work days were as much fun as a day at Fort Fido! Outstanding facility and staff! Maybe I can dress up and go in with my two dogs. Just watch the videos an see for yourselves.

We love Fort Fido! The staff is always very friendly, helpful, and they all seem to love what they do. My dog gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot - he has a great time playing with his friends and socializing with new dogs. My only wish is that they had live cameras so I could check-in on my dog while I am missing him at work.

My dog is 4 years old. He’s been going to Ft. Fido since he was 7 months old. He loves it so much that he gets excited when we pull into the parking lot. He knows they like him. I know they will take good care of him. I feel comfortable because I know that all the dogs are evaluated to make sure it’s s good fit. It’s so friendly and many of the employees have been there since it opened which is the sign of a good environment.

Fort Fido is a great place for doggie daycare and boarding. I do both as needed. I have never felt anything but goodness from the whole crew! Keep up the good work people!

Absolutely disrespectful on the phone, I asked if they were hiring and the man who answered the phone was very disrespectful and had absolutely no concern for anybody but himself. Shame

The best place ever!! My German Shepherd loves going there and really has a great supervised work out with the same sized dogs which has her sleeping like a puppy by nighttime; calm, relaxed, mellow. The staff are courteous, professional, and committed to making sure it is always “all about the dogs. It is meticulously neat, clean, organized, and well run—and behaviors which can escalate towards agitation and into aggression from any dog are swiftly and adeptly managed competently by staff, which makes me feel confident all the dogs there will be safe and well managed before in any “canine event” is allowed to escalate.Everyone has to sit and wait before entering or leaving; everyone takes a nap in the afternoons, and the playtimes are rocking rollicking fun from the videos I have seen if the dogs down thru the years. I have taken both my German Shepherds to Fort Fido and would not even consider any other place. So grateful and appreciative for this place—they need to start a chain of Fort Fidos, because they truly exemplify all the highest qualities and standards of appropriate and optimal doggie day care services. Cannot speak too highly of this business and I am an exacting customer. Fort Fido Rules!!!!

Fort Fido is an open play based facility. Our dog loves it, he is always eager to go in the back and play with his friends. When joint issues made it so it wasn’t healthy for him to play with young dogs his size the staff accommodated by putting him with medium dogs and enforcing afternoon rest for him. I love the fact that they audition dogs and keep out dogs that aren’t socially compatible with the environment in their facility. You will see some negative reviews from dog owners whose pets were rejected. I understand their disappointment, but don’t let their negative experience keep you from giving this place a shot.

Our girls go regularly and they love it! They get excited when we pull into the driveway and can’t wait to get inside and play. And the best part is they come home tired and no bad behaviors! This is the best place all around for good playtime, food, advice and/or mentoring. Everyone will spend all the time you need answering questions and helping out with issues and ideas. I highly recommend The Fort and don’t know what my girls would do without them!

We love Fort Fido! They are always so helpful with any questions you may have, always have great information and you can just see they truly love what they do. I was really weary of daycare because my pups are my kids but they are always so happy when we get there and when I pick them up they are exhausted (when you own heelers this is an amazing thing) we started with one puppy and he thrives there, so now our new puppy attends and I have no worries that she is in great hands while I’m at work. Thank you for all you do Fort Fido

My dog Niko has been a regular at Ft. Fido for over 7 years. He loves coming here during the day to socialize as well as board when we are out of town. When I pick him up he is happy and tired. All the staff have been kind and helpful with any issues or questions I have had over the years. I completely trust this place for my dog.

We love the Fort! Our beagle, Levi, is 12 years old. When we moved to Washington last year, I was stressed out about finding a new place to board him during those rare trips for which he cannot join us, such as when we're out of the country or traveling for business. I am so thankful that we found Fort Fido. Whenever we drop him off, it's clear that Levi is happy to be there. He greets the staff and trots off to the play area without so much as a backward glance at dear old mom—which would break my heart if I didn't recognize it as a sure sign that he is comfortable there. When I pick him up, he greets me enthusiastically, but he is never stressed out, whiney, or overtired, as he has been after staying at some other boarding facilities in the past. This indicates to me that the staff are tailoring our little older gentleman's experience to meet his needs, that he's sleeping well while he's there, and that he feels secure and cared for until we pick him up. That, in turn, puts my mind at ease while I'm traveling. The facility is clean and well maintained, and the staff are some of the kindest, friendliest, most professional people you could hope to encounter. It's clear that they LOVE dogs. We're happy to give them a chance to love our Levi anytime he can't be with us. Thank you, Fort Fido!

Very very very bad experience and I warn you not to send your dog there. Bad service, bad attitude and insects. We have a 4 month German shepherd. We sent our dog there for two weeks, the first week they said that he was doing great...very smart dog. The second week, they started providing mixed feedbacks everyday. Some said that he was having great time, some said he may have separation anxiety issues, and some directly told us that daycare may not be good for him??? When I asked one girl over there whether I need to get a trainer for him, she said no, your dog is very smart and if you need help you can ask us. And today when we went to pick him up, some old lady told us that our dog is not welcomed to go back any more, saying he was barking at other dogs??? And my dog didn’t like them? I was told this morning when I dropped him off that he listened very well. She was not even willing to provide suggestions or details as why he changed from enjoyinging daycare to barking at other dogs? I feel like we were basically kicked out of the place. This is the kind of service you are proud of? You apologize for mixed reviews from your own employees? What the heck is going on? We were not sending him there anyway as I started have lots of bug bites the second week we sent him there.

It has been 3 months since I have been able to put into words what exactly happened at this establishment. My dog Maggie May had been going to Fort Fido since she was 4 months old (she is now 3 years old). She has always LOVED going to daycare and playing with her friends. Every time I would pick her up, she would get praised for how great she was doing and how much fun she had. In April of this year, that all changed. My husband and I were expecting and I was 9 months pregnant. We decided that we were going to let Maggie play at daycare for the weekend so she could be with her friends. When I went to pick her up, the young lady behind the counter said my dog had a terrible time...she wouldn't eat, she wouldn't play, and was having large signs of anxiety. My husband and I were shocked because our dog is like our baby and we were so saddened and confused to hear this. I get home with Maggie, and she has two bite marks in her nose, a large scab on her hip, and some hair missing on her behind. I WAS FURIOUS! I went back to the establishment to show the owners pictures I had taken of my baby, to let them know she was attacked at their establishment and that this is why she had a rough time. They SEEMED to be sincere and said that they would look into it immediately. About 35 minutes later I receive a phone call stating that they couldn't prove my dog was attacked, that my dog has always suffered anxiety at their place of business, and that we weren't welcome back. When I asked/questioned why we weren't told for the last 3 years that she wasn't having fun, he responded that my husband was abusive towards my dog and accused him of punching our dog in the face in their lobby. When I threatened slander, the owner quickly backed up stating "let's pretend I didn't say that". ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?! The owner wrote me a check for the weekend...which is honestly the least of my concern. I didn't need their hush money, but at that point, I was so distraught with what I was hearing. I do not want to see what happened to my baby, happen to yours.

This daycare is by far the worst place I have ever been. Not only are the owners awful, uncaring people, they literally TELL their workers to abuse your dog's. The workers are trained to YELL at the dogs who are distressed and upset as well as hit them with dirty mops used for cleaning their fecies and pee. The dogs are given no comfort all day, only hard rubber mats and plastic cages. The dogs are not encouraged to play with the employees or other dogs. No exercise or outdoor time is given to any animals staying at this terrible boarding facility. The employees are undertrained and do not care about your dog's safety and well-being. The dogs in the summer are kept with no air conditioning and limited water time. I'm not surprised to see some very distressed pet owners also writing reviews about this awful place. I hope nobody boards with these terrible people anymore. No dog deserves to be tortured in this place.

Since rescuing our Chocolate Lab mix 2 years ago, we were looking for a local business to support and socialize our dog. After trying a few other places that did not feel right we started using Fort Fido. Initially we really enjoyed this facility. They understood that our dog was a work in progress with a lot of energy. The staff was helpful and the owners were able to recommend a great chew toy that has lasted more than 1 day. Due to not being from WA, we travel 13 hours back home a few times a year and did not want to put that stress on our dog so we turned to our "friends" at Fort Fido for boarding, 4-6 days at a time. They encouraged breaks mid day and at night to ensure rest. The first time we brought our dog home, he had a cough that lasted about 5 days. After a trip to the vet it was deemed strain from labored breathing during his play during his stay. We checked with the folks at Fort Fido who assured us that he was not barking or whining uncontrollably and that he is a rather quiet dog, even when playing. After every boarding experience, we would have this same issue with our dog. Not much could be done is what the vet told us. Today we picked our dog up from Fort Fido for the last time today after a 6 day stay. I received a call from the owner today stating that following a check in call from me asking during our trip about the coughing and over excitement we have experienced every time after our dog, who showed no issues days prior, suddenly started demonstrating some coughing issues last night, the final night of his stay. The purpose of the call was not to inform me of this concern but to let me know that "due to our concern for your dogs health, he is no longer able to come to Fort Fido". I made an appointment at my vet for a check up same day as pick up. The vet checked out my dog and assured me that his coughing (which was not present when we were at the vet, nor since having brought him home) was not a virus, contagious, or anything to be worried about relating to stress or anxiety as suggested by the owner of Fort Fido. Our vet stated that he simply played hard. Thank you, Fort Fido, for turning away my 2 year business with multiple day visits during the month and boardings within the year. I am sure another local business owner will be more than happy to hear my concerns regarding my dog playing continually and over exhausting himself and look for a way to work with me rather than turning it into what seems like an attempt to avoid future issues for lack of care to my dog. Good luck with your business and I hope you stop grooming your clientele to be simply the cream of the crop rather than welcoming all types of well behaved, and friendly playful dogs.

AMAZING Dog Daycare in University Place. The staff is so knowledge about dogs and have so many helpful tips. The place does not stink like urine like most dog daycares do. I love how someone is there 24 hours, it makes me feel extra safe about leaving my dog here. Their location is so convenient being located on 27th, it is also next door to a veterinarian office which keeps me at ease. They understand dog behavior and body language which is HUGE when having lots of dogs grouped together. This dog daycare is smart that it doesn't allow toys during daycare since I know many dogs that can become aggressive over toys. The facility is very large unlike daycares nearby, they are separated by sizes which is great. Definitely recommend to all dog owners!

Fort Fido--We appreciate you!! "By continuing to provide exercise, discipline, and affection, you can be the Pack Leader your dog needs to achieve a long and balanced life" (Cesar Milan). As his Pack Leader, I provide my new puppy Max, an enthusiastic and energetic German Shorthair Pointer, with exercise, discipline, and affection every day, and as a result, he is developing into a wonderful dog, best friend, and true companion. To complement my efforts, I brought Max to Fort Fido already at about 10 weeks of age; he is now a little over 6 months old. From the assessment his first day to all of his subsequent visits to the Fort, Max has been met consistently with calm and assertive leadership from the top down. Owner Dave modeled for me, from day one, the effectiveness of being calm and assertive, from the most seemingly simple yet crucial task of dropping off and picking up Max. The Fido Crew models calm and assertive leadership daily with Max and all the dogs at the Fort; their human efforts (discipline and affection), along with dog interactions in the medium roll (exercise), all complement what I do at home and contribute to Max's continued development into a happy and confident puppy and dog, and overall well-being as a part of my pack so that he can achieve a long and balanced life, something I seek to achieve for myself as well! Although I am impressed with and thankful for ALL of the Fort Fido Crew, I am giving a special shout-out to both Danielle and Christy for seeming to take a special interest in my sweet boy Max; thank you both so very much for the special interest and kind affection you have shown Max, and thank you also for all that you have shared with me as well, whether tips, stories, updates, even videos, so that I can share in Max’s adventures when we are apart and also so I can continue to grow as Max's Pack Leader. Thank you to Fort Fido Crew for so purposely and passionately providing exercise, discipline and affection for my Max and all the other lucky dogs who attend The Fort! Love, Susi with Max in UP

Best dog daycare in University Place and Tacoma & just learned they have overnight dogcare and boarding! We used them years ago when we lived in North Tacoma Proctor district and our Rottweiler mix Grizzly Bear always had a great time and came home with a smile on his face. With a new (high energy) Doberman puppy Winston and believe it or not high energy Daschund Corgie mix (dorgie) Walter we need their great pup care again and help with the socialization part of puppy training for our boy!
