University Place Best Pet Grooming Tacoma, Washington

My doggies were supposed to have an appointment today, but we didn't receive a call or update telling us you were closed. I understand safety comes first, but would have appreciated a call. At the time of confirmation was told we would receive a call if closed or unsafe for staff to drive in. Having an 8 am appointment made it difficult to call ahead of time. I also had to make special arrangements for someone to watch my two small children since our doggies do not travel well in the car. Due to anxiety of going to groomers my poor dogs whined in the car while we waited, but no one showed. 12 hours later still no word. As far as services the price for nail trimmings are pretty steep. Grooming services are okay.

This was my first experience with a groomer, and I was blown away. Super friendly staff helped with my mild anxiety of "what do I do?" and gently guided through the process with a consultation. Drop off and pick up was a breeze! We will definitely be returning, in fact we already have our next appointment set up. Thank you so much for being so caring to not only my puppers, but to me as well. ♥️

My Havanese Barney had three good cuts at this groomer, but the fourth time I brought him in was a disaster! The groomer took it upon herself to cut his long ears down to the skin. It looks terrible! It will probably take more than a year to grow the hair out again. Worst of all Barney seemed traumatized as if he was treated roughly. So the owner has responded below (not however to my previous voicemail, which is why I posted the review) She says that his ears were severely matted. They were not. I had brushed him that morning and he had one small matted area behind his left ear and another on his tail which I mentioned when I dropped him off. These could have been easily cut out without cutting the length off his ears. An action that is so drastic it will probably take a year to grow back and have him looking normal.

Don’t bother coming here if you have a doodle, apparently they are too much work. They will refuse you, it just happened to me.

Olivia Newton Jones (My little Yorkie) looked so cute when I picked her up. I don't know what is is about this place but Olivia is actually excited when we pull up and park. She knows where we are and she can't wait to get out of the truck. She suffers from separation anxiety and barks like crazy whenever I have to leave her with anybody but NOT when it comes to U.P.s Best Pet Grooming. They've been taking care of Olivia for a few years now and she has been cared for by all of the Groomers and not once have I been unhappy. I'll never take her anywhere else.

Used to take my Labrodoodle here and the woman that groomed her was awesome. Always adding wash out dyes to match the time of year or holiday and finished off with a cool bandana. When they re-opened after the lockdown she was gone and the person that took over (don’t know his name but only male that works there) did not have any personal touches (not even the custom bandana) and what ever shampoo he used did not get her smelling clean. He nicked/cut her on her fur once, I mentioned on the next appointment and then our dog had another nick and he cut her nails too short and one split causing a bloody mess in my car and at home. I called to complain and he did not seem concerned nor did the owner. I will admit my dog can be excitable but there is no excuse for not addressing customers concerns. Now looking for new groomer.

First time service. Last time service. Unfortunately, my experience was very poor. Upon arriving at the facility I waited in the lobby for my initial intake. The grooming stations are just passed a glass door where I could overhear a groomer shouting at one of the clients/dogs. I understand animals all have different needs, however I do believe it unprofessional to bark orders at them. My pup is often frightened to set foot into these places. Aggression would not be my first choice, rather the carrot than the stick. The night following my dogs cut, and subsequent morning, he developed a terrible limp. To the point where he could bare no weight on his right paw. After a quick inspection, I discovered the groomer had trimmed much too far down his nail and cut into the quick section of his nail and possibly nicked bone. We will be visiting the veterinarian clinic to exam the extent of injury. I will not be coming back.

The staff is incredibly friendly, warm and caring. They have done a great job with my little guy. I have a bichonpoo. Earl's work is truly impressive, we have been to other places nearby before discovering them, and since I was always asking others at dog parks etc,, for groomer recommendations until I found Earl, I feel I should definitely share this information.

Very friendly and fast! Would highly recommend for cats!

I took my girls to get groomed and loved it. They are good with my girls, they came out fluffy and clean with cute little bows. I can't even get bows on them. Amazing job!!!

1st time there, just got anal glands done. No appointment needed before 2pm for that service. I was in & out in less than 10min! This is my new go-to spot.

I’ve been going here for a over a year and the groomers are great with my dog. It’s the lady at the front desk that is so rude and unprofessional. She called to let me know my dog was ready for pick up. I was at work and got pulled away and she called me back an hour later yelling at me to pick my dog up. She said they don’t keep dogs longer than 4 hours which I’ve never been told that the whole year I’ve been going there nor do I see it listed anywhere. When I picked my dog up she said they’ve always had that policy but that was the first I’ve heard about it. I refuse to go back there she was so awful to me but the groomers are great.

Our dogs love this place, as soon as we pull into the parking lot they get excited. Once inside they jump up on their groomer and lick, (kiss), them.

The groomers were awesome. They were friendly to us and to our puppy who needed a flea bath. They even cut her nails and cleaned her ears as part of the visit. The prices were reasonable and they also groom cats. We will definitely be using this groomer again and highly recommend them.

Upon arrival, I was greeted and my poodle felt comfortable as well. Earl did the grooming for my poodle and I couldn’t be happier and this is worth the 45 minute drive! Thanks Earl and UPBPG!!!

Good groomers, good grooming for a small dog that needs a hair cut. Kinda pricey. Lady who answers the phone most the time, think her name is Kathy, could be Nancy or barb, is the owner, she isn't very friendly
