Today I had an appointment for our kitten at Columbia Vet where we have been seen for the last 20 years. I was told that my appointment had been cancelled, at my request. I was told that at my request my care there was terminated since I was getting care somewhere else. I explained I did not cancel our care, and had no idea what she was talking about. She further informed me that records for all our pets had been transferred to another clinic. She could not recall who that might be. She declined to check her records. And the clinic has twice more declined to even attempt to resolve this issue. There manner throughout has been rude and dismissive. I have called several UP vets since she thought it might be UP. No luck. And no vet. And not even a sorry about that.

I was unable to make an appt due to clinic availability, but I have to give kudos to your receptionist who couldn't have been more helpful and kind over the phone! If all in your employ are like her, this must be a very fine business indeed!

Dr. Gay is amazing and I love the gals in the office too!!! even though we moved we wanted to stay with Dr. Gay and staff because they rock.

We brought our 13 year old pitbull here for a quality of life assessment. (It was our first time here) He has never been a good patient, he was terrified of the vet, but Dr. Self didn't seem to mind, she snuggled and loved on him and fed him all the treats! Today I opened my mailbox to find a sympathy card for our family from Dr. Self and all of the people at Columbia Vet Hospital, after only meeting us one time! Their compassion means the world to us!

I have been to many vets in Tacoma over the years and Dr. Self at Columbia Veterinary Hospital is the most knowledgeable and caring person who has ever helped me with my dog. The whole staff is great and you can tell they are truly passionate about what they do. Without question this is the place you want to treat your pet, they are the best in Tacoma.

to the receptionist who cant do her job or is just getting too complacent. Everyone knew about the snow storm in Washington. We had days to prepare for this. we show up for the second time (first time we had to reschedule because the doctor called in sick?? on a Friday... but they were still taking appointments all around us. what if our cat was dying?) with our sick cat only to find a sign that says powers out and phones out. Don't you guys have solar panels??? on top of that the receptionist didn't even contact each individual client to remind them of the situation today. THAT'S YOUR JOB! instead allowing clients to drive all the way to the vet only to find a note on the wall. I'M A MILITARY VETERAN WHO DOES NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF YOU TRULY CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS. GET A NEW RECEPTIONIST WHO ACTUALLY DOES THERE JOB!

Our Sweet dog Shep started having difficulty in the late fall with bleeding from a tooth that wouldn't stop. We took our nine year old Kelpie in to see Dr. Self. She did blood work and determined he had a very low white blood cell count. After time and various meds the count never approached a normal level. Shep was relatively active until Sunday evening when he took a significant turn for the worse. Monday morning while My wife Joanne watched he took his last breath. Dr. Self sent us a very "non-scripted" and sincere sympathy e-mail today. We cannot be happier with all she did for Shep. As well, all of the staff at Columbia were both professional and personally engaging with us and our dear dog, Shep.

We very much appreciate Dr. Reisen. He is easy to communicate with and very understanding. He is direct yet friendly, and very knowledgeable. We are thankful to have such a great vet to go to with our two dogs.

They don't care about animals unless you have money

During what I would say was one of the most difficult days I've ever had in my life of having to put down my dear cat Samba, Dr. Gay was amazing. He was very compassionate and empathetic. My french bulldog will continue to see Dr. Gay

We have been taking our dog there for a few years. First to Dr. Rutlidge, now she sees Dr. Wright. She has had some health issues and they have always been so wonderful and caring. Great service and I know our pup is in good hands with any of the Dr.'s there.

Don't go to these people, they are ridiculously over priced. I called to see how much it would cost to remove my cats loose tooth that's been hurting her. I had called a Colombia vet hospital in Astoria that came so highly recommended and got a quote of no more than $200 to get it all done but we live in Bremerton and didn't want to drive that far. I called to see if this place could do it and if so how much it would cost since they are much closer (thinking maybe they were the same company). Their quote was $1500. I have called like 10 other vets in the bremerton area and no one was nearly as ridiculously as these people. I would never go here.

Just moved to Tacoma after moving from Vashon Island and leaving our wonderful Vet. I'm really happy with Columbia Vet Hospital. My dog is a "drama queen" and they did a great job with him.

Outstanding care! Have taken my cats there for over 20 years to Dr. Power. Very caring, knowledgeable, and trustworthy! Excellent care for any pets!

Dr. Powers is great! Really nice and thorough. Perfect little place to take your loved furry family members :)
