Pilchuck is one of the best vet practices I have interacted with. They are efficient and compassionate. My cats have never been so calm and well handled in an exam room. I always get the answers I need in a timely manner. I feel very comfortable leaving my pets with each of the lovely vet techs who work there. Shout out to Claire for being a fantastic receptionist and going above and beyond every time with a calm cheery demeanor.

The doctor and assistant were kind and helpful, however, did not seem to feel it was important to tell me the cost of the care they recommended. They did not ask me if I wanted her ears cultured at 59 dollars, they said they really didn't cut her nails but still charged me 28 dollars, they told me they recommended a teeth cleaning but did not inform me the cost of the blood work alone was 260! I found out at the front desk with the rude lady who checked me out that the cost of the teeth cleaning at the low end was 1097 and I had to book it within 30 days because the blood work expires, but if I would have got it done in February it would have been alot cheaper because that's dental month in the vet world! I asked if she could not run the blood work so I could wait and she said no. 698 dollar bill. What a rip off. Everywhere else I called would have been a bill cut in half. And the teeth cleaning I have to fork out 1100 for is 600 everywhere else. Don't go here if you can help it.

Pilchuck Vet stepped in when our old Vet retired. Both times we needed care, both times during the pandemic, they have been exceedingly caring and mindful of our needs.

These people let my sister's deathly-ill dog die waiting an hour (they quoted 5 min) for any help to come. Help never came until it was too late. Me an my family insistently kept calling and coming into reception to tell them she was declining in condition. All they ever cared about was the $750 they wanted to squeeze out of us before they even did anything at all . . . they never cared nor understood in plain English that my dog was deathly ill. I thought this was an emergency vet, but I guess I was wrong. What a wonderful depressing Christmas these people gave us, with nothing but wasted time and a dead family member. It's so nice and comforting to know that you can go to their doorstep asking for help and they won't listen to you. Help will never come.

Four of my pets (cats) have been helped by Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital. They are patient with questions, provide clear answers and options, and are exceedingly gentle with my pets. Landed with them after a couple nightmare clinics at least 20 years ago and won't go anywhere else while I live here.

I rated this after 2 years with them and saw their rating decline and put in the proper time to not be reactive with judgment, rather be precise. I can say I was along for the ride to watch it all. They make you wait on their schedule (not because of COVID that is understandable with waits, more they sign up for too much maybe), hurry you when you are here , don’t do all that they say they will, then charge you with a smile as if it was a great experience. Then to see that they set their prices as if they are in downtown Seattle. They did admit that they did not complete the task they said they would when I asked them as a second follow up immediately after they said they had completed it (I noticed this after the appointment went too quickly). I’ll give them that they are honest after the fact when I called them out and they agreed they didn’t do what it was they just said they did, but it took me asking them. I hope the best for them. I am not here to just complain. I hope they can turn a corner and do better. I am sure there are a lot of great people that work at Pilchuck but something in their management or something is a miss. I don’t think they care that they have less than 3.5 rating, it shows.

I brought my cat Maggie in because of joint discomfort, ok she was in alot of pain.. I had to use the emergency services because of timing. Because of Covid people are now spending more time with their pets. That means we are seeing more issues with them at home. Veterinarians are swamped everywhere. And finding extra staff right now is difficult. We have all seen the help wanted signs. So I knew it was going to be a wait. I got good communication and it didn't take as long as they said it might. I got lucky I think. My cat Maggie is resting well tonight and for that I'm thankful.

Our dog had a seizure and we thought we were lucky to be only a couple miles from a VCA emergency hospital, but they were full and turned us away, as did the places they suggested. Desperate, I went to Google Maps and looked for any emergency vet within 30 miles. I was so lucky to find Pilchuck here. The person who answered the phone remained calm while I frantically told them how desperate we were, and after we arrived and called to inform them we were there - and our dog seemed to be getting worse - the techs literally ran out to the car to get her. Everybody who spoke to us took the matter seriously but remained calm and talked us through what would happen next and was very transparent with everything from prognosis to costs. I watched them interact with other pets and owners while we sat in the parking lot and they all showed the same knowledge and kindness whether it was the dog with an injured paw, a family waiting for a critical surgery to be done, or the couple who arrived to pick up their pets cremains. While I was still anxious, I cannot express what a relief it was to know our dog was in their care.

This hospital was so friendly as well as very clean. I had the very unfortunate experience of having a kitty with late stages of cancer. They were so kind and compassionate about what my cat and I were going through. They were very caring and made our last moments together very special. I’ll never forget their kindness.

I truly can’t thank the veterinarians and technicians of Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital enough for taking care of my dog Peter. I had just gone on vacation and an emergency happened at home, long story short - my dog was bit multiple times by another dog with an aggressive history. It was nearly impossible to find an animal hospital because they’re all very busy and this happened late at night (we live in Kirkland and no other hospitals in the area had availablity to take in another patient). We finally got in touch with Pilchuck through their emergency line and they were able to take my dog in and treat him. Not only did they perform a procedure to close up his wounds, but they also approved medical boarding while we were away. One of the technicians even offered to help us and board our dog at her home in case medical boarding wasn’t going to be approved for the whole time we were away. Had the bite crossed the abdominal wall, they would have had to cut up his belly. Luckily, we narrowly escaped that situation. This was a terrifying situation, especially being on the other side of the world. The veterinarian explained everything in detail to me and made sure I understood everything before performing the procedure as well as after with the final findings. The staff kept us updated on his progress and I’m pretty sure they fell in love with my sweet charismatic pup. He’s healing up nicely now and I’m so thankful that he was in such good hands.

We met the staff at Pilchuck under the worst circumstance; so much so, the day and following month still feel like a blur. They took care of our family (furr and human) with the utmost patience and concern. We will forever be grateful to the kind staff.

In my opinion if I could give a review that is less than 1, that’s what Pilchuck deserves. On the Friday before the 4th of July my greyhound had a lump in his left hind that would not stop bleeding. My vet recommended that we take him to Pilchuck. So we did. Saturday morning Dr Murphy insisted that exploratory surgery was required, promptly followed by a call stating that an amputation was the only recourse. No other option was provided. Not knowing any better we agreed. Just 24+ hrs the next vet (we must have gone through at least 5 during his stay) was insisting we take him home. That would be because he wasn’t eating, couldn’t stand up on his own and was aggressive. How calm would you be if they had chopped off your leg? Not to mention have a tech step on you (yes I was there when she did it) and add to your pain. Luckily my sons fiancé is a vet and she told us to ask them to transfer him to a specialty hospital. They were eager to do that. They just wanted him out of there and out of there hands. We took him to Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle in Lynwood. They were fabulous. Took good care of him and we got him home. Unfortunately his wound started bleeding and we took him back to VSCS. They said his wound was infected and more surgery would be required, given he was now diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma it didn’t make sense to prolong his agony. However we have serious questions on the cleanliness of Pilchuck’s operating procedures and why his wound got infected jn the first place. We did have to say good bye to our beautiful boy. VSCS helped us through that. So bottom line…in my opinion… if you don’t care about your pet, take them to Pilchuck. If you are like us, you’ll walk out of there with a $9K bill and a sick dog that you have to take to a responsible hospital

Carrie came to our rescue today! The night before, I discovered my 13 year old little pup had a tick right above her eye. I’ve never dealt with this before so I was pretty distressed. My regular vet couldn’t see her and told us to call ER. The one I called had a 3 hour wait. I called Pilchuck and talked to Carrie. She was helpful and understanding and told us to come right over. I called when I got there and she came out with her supplies in hand and got the tick out quickly and gently right through the open window and didn’t charge us. She took a huge weight off my shoulders.Thank you for helping us today. I know who I’ll call the next time I need urgent care for my dogs. You are appreciated more than you know!

I had an emergency with a puppy I found starved and with a degloved tail. I didn’t have an appointment and Pilchuck Veternarian was very busy. The front desk had someone come and to my car and take a look at him (Karry Watkins) who went back to ( Dr. Dini McGregor) and asked if she could fit him into their schedule. Arrangements were made and my puppy is thriving everything has healed up beautifully. I received a level of care and compassion I will never forget. Thankful to Jesus who has established the work of these peoples hands!!!

I have had the worst experiences the last few times I have used this vet. The most recent event, today, resulted when I tried to use TeleVet. I sent in the info about 6:30 am this morning. When it was 1 and I had heard nothing I called. The person that answered the phone kept me on hold 15 minutes to come back and tell me he didnt know what to do, how to check the system and couldnt say when a vet would be back to me. He took my number and promised to have a vet call me. That didnt happen. Its been a total waste of my time.

They do have great doctors, and if you can make a regular checkup appointment it all works fairly well. The emergency portion of the hospital is less efficient though. There appears to be a shortage of emergency vets in the area, when they tell you the wait time for an emergency visit is 5 hours ! And you can’t wait at home, you have to wait in the parking lot. That is just not a reasonable time to spend in the car when there is something wrong with your pet. Even my haircut place has figured out a system to give you a 15 minute warning when your spot in the line is coming up after you check in online.

Thank you guys! We live all the way in Hoquiam wash. Our dog needed an emergency C-section. We started calling places and told to get there just to be turned away. An employee named Amber at VCA in Silverdale put us on hold and called around for us till Pilchuck said they can help. It was over 60 miles from where we were on a Friday afternoon but when we got there they rushed her right in and saved the day. Maggie and all 4 of her puppies are happy and healthy thanks to them!

What an amazing vet! I had an emergency with my dog and she had to stay overnight. I called at 9:30 to see if they could send me a picture of her because I was so worried, and I thought they would think I was crazy, but they were so kind and immediately sent me picture to set my mind at ease.

I don’t write reviews often. But Regardless of their highly inflated prices this is the worst vet I have been to. Doctor and staff repeatedly had extremely poor communication skills and continuously dismissed and talked down to me, all of my concerns of my pets well being of a responsible concerned owner as being unreasonable from the start. Highly counterintuitive. I believe the doctor humored me and put my pets life at risk under anesthesia for an exam without following through with a procedure, I believe would have greatly prevented any further complications and greatly helped my dog from the obvious symptoms she is still experiencing. However dr. Dukes assessment along with his rude staff was to dismiss any and all of my concerns from the start because I was being too thorough over my pets well being, overbook my appointment on the day of assessment and not give my time or money and importantly my pets health reasonable time nor care. Will be paying for a second opinion else where. Waste of time and money, and again put my pets life at risk for no benefit or reason! Highly unprofessional. Poor communication skills.

I took my dog in yesterday for an emergency care but they said it was going to be a 4-7 hour wait. i called them multiple times to see how long it would take for them to take my dog in but they refused to. We waited 3 hours to only have my poor dog dying in my car. Before they could have done anything, my dog died and took him in and “tried cpr” but it was too late. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS. If it’s called emergency care, would they take pets that are in desperate need?

Worst place I've ever went to! I had a kitten that was in extreme pain and suffering! THEY made me wait for almost 3 hours and when I was finally able to talk to someone they said it would be another 2 hours more.???? And after all that it was going to be over 500 dollars just to put the poor kitty to sleep. Horrible

I think about this staff often. We had a very unfortunate situation arise with our family dog. She woke up one morning with no use of her hind legs. We were able to get her in at pilchuck within hours of it happening. They were able to give us a diagnosis and treatment plan for a very affordable rate. Unfortunately, treatment didn't work for our girl. We ended up having to make a really difficult decision for her. I am so very thankful for how amazing the staff was in assisting us with her passing on. They helped us honor our girl in her last minutes and helped us to begin our grieving process. We love our Daisy girl so much, and miss her like crazy. We were able to pick up her ashes about a week after her passing. She came home in a lovely box. We are so so grateful for pilchuck. Everythin was affordable and I feel like we got really quality care. Will be taking any future pets back here.

Do not take any animal to this clinic, if I could rate zero stars I would. They are completely overwhelmed and overrun and not giving proper attention to their pets. Their information in their computer continues to be be wrong even though I have verified twice with them, no changes were made. My friend also lost a pet during a normal routine spay and they are claiming it's due to the animals bad heart, yet she had been cleared as totally healthy before the spay and earlier as a new kitten. Just devastating.

They list emergency veterinary services 24/7. My dog collapsed at home in the afternoon and we took her here because they said they had emergency services. They said they were busy and wouldn’t even look at her. They sent my teenage son who was scared to a different vet 15 minutes away. Was the few minutes to at least look at her too much to ask from an “emergency “ vet? It turns out my girl had already died but what if that time would have made a difference? Don’t believe their list of services.

Surgeons may be “the best” but their lack of communication is what gets 1 star. I would give 0 if that was an option. Especially during COVID times, you’d think staff would be more communicative. I wasn’t filled in on a procedure (so going out of my mind with worry in general) and then proceeded to not check about extra things that could have ultimately been done before discharge (that weren’t) that will now cost more money to have done by a different vet. Communication goes a long way. I’ve spent a lot of money with Pilchuck over the years, their reproduction specialist is the best vet I’ve ever met. But will not ever be employing their services again - would rather haul out of state. Their surgeons have a good habit of talking down to you and essentially acting like they are the be all end all. It’s a bit ridiculous. Will be also filing with the BBB.
