Derek does a great job. My horses hooves have never been better, and my horse really loves him???? And he’s dependable. He came out in the snow! For his scheduled visit.

I've had Kolb put shoes on my haflinger mare for about 2 years now and the only reason I'm stopping his service is cuz I'm moving to TX. He has treated us great and dealt with my wiggly mare with much patience. He is a genuine man with fair prices. My mare had very tender front feet and I tried everything but she needed a half set in the end and now with the move, we pulled her shoes and her sole is in much better shape and she isn't as tender. Thank you for your service Kolb and good luck in the future.

Derek communicates better than any farrier I’ve had in the past. He sends reminder texts a week prior, and arrives to appointments on time (usually early even). He is patient with my horse and bratty donkeys, and does a good job trimming them.

Derek is on time, sends text reminders for appointments, and is very quiet/patient with the horses. He talks about what the horses need for trimming, answers all the questions, and makes sure that the horses are comfortable. I appreciate the careful work he has done in the transition from shod to barefoot, as well!

Derek took care of my horse for 2 1/2 years before I moved out of the area. I've always kept my horse barefoot and Derek did an excellent job of keeping a good angle and gave suggestions if he noticed anything that needed tending to by me. Derek was very gentle with my Smokey and there was always lots of release licking during his trims. Derek was always on time and usually early. I trusted him to pull my horse out of the pasture and do the trim even at times I couldn't be there. We have found another good farrier in our new location, but we miss Derek.

Great service, always shows up early and ready to work. My horses like him and he’s very quick with their trims, so they’re much happier and I’ve been happy with the quality of their trims too. Would definitely recommend.

Great farrier! I have a mini-horse (Mocha) who has unusual feet. Derek took the time to consult with his mentor at the Mission Farrier School in order to give Mocha the best care possible. He also arranged for a Mocha to visit said farrier school to educate the students there with a hands-on session. Derek is dependable, punctual, flexible, and patient -- even when the horse is having a bad day. He genuine cares for each horse. I highly recommend him!

Most people work to pay the bills. But, Derek does this because he loves it and it shows through his work. He’s patient, kind and so easy to work with. He communicates effectively, is punctual and all around a pleasure to have working on my horses. He will forever be our go to farrier.

Derek is wonderful. He takes such good care of both my girls! I very much appreciate that he likes to keep horses barefoot if possible! He is always promptly on time, never cancels, and responds to all communication. I was so worried when I had to find a farrier as I heard “they are all so flaky”. I’m very picky about who takes care of my animals and Derek is at the top of my list. He is also friendly, easy going, and nice to chat with!

I found Derek when our original farrier moved out of state. One of my horses is very emotionally sensitive and she took to Derek right away, absolutely loves him! My husband and I have two draft cross horses so they're big girls, as well they are rescues. Their feet have been historically problematic but neither has been off even a little since we've had Derek as a farrier (about 3 years now). We recently found Derek and he has taken on the horses at our barn and we are very pleased. We have a variety of hoof needs and he addresses every one as an individual. I have been working with Kolb Professional Farrier Services for a little over 3 yrs. Derek is exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and caring in his field. My horses absolutely adore him, giving him kisses and nuzzles. When I bought my horses a couple years ago, they came with not so great feet. He has done a wonderful job getting them to there prime. I have a nevicular horse and he worked great with my vet, to come up with a plan. The horse is still going on rides and moving properly. Derek has been working on my horses for a few years now. He's very professional, always prompt never missing an appt or ever been late.
