The staff are almost overwhelmed & understaffed. COVID protocols slow all activities down so pack your patience. With that said I was there with snow on the ground and they were fabulous. I was in retail business for my whole life and this group of people were very good at handling multiple clients simultaneously, all done with patients and and a smile. I saw adoption client smiles and excitement in spite of waits caused by COVID protocols.

You gave away a pug named Reggie yesterday. Reggie was chipped.. His human, whose wife died 2 days ago. was in line to get him. You are monsters!

The only negative was the long wait to get in which is understandable during Covid. Very nice facility and animals to be adopted appeared wellcared for.

We adopted Fred (Now called Rex because he wrecks everything) after my wife's cat she raised since she was a kitten passed away at the old age of 24 years old. I told her that our other cat could use a companion someone who was younger since the old cat wouldn't play with him. So we spent the day at the Humane Society deciding on cats we saw Fred and we fell in love with him. We could tell he was a bit skittish but he warmed up and demanded pets from us so we adopted him and took him home. He refused to come out from under the bed for almost an entire week. Mordecai our other cat really wanted to meet him so we slowly introduced them when Rex got more comfortable. They get along great now and run around the house playing. Rex does give my wife a lot of anxiety since he constantly manages to open cabinets and hide in them for periods of time and spook my wife when she goes to grab something However the biggest concern is him climbing up on the bannister to peer at us from the second floor. To mitigate this we got him some wall mounted climbing boxes and a large pet tower and now he prefers to sit in it and watch the woods outside. Rex is loveable even if he wrecks everything in his path, my clothes in the closet are never safe so we are looking at wedges to stop him from opening the doors. Humane Society was a great help and explained everything to us and made the transition easy for my wife and myself.

Adopt a pekingese from Kitsap… his kennel was clean, big, and he seemed content. The people who work there were friendly and to see how my 2 other dogs would interact with the new Pek we walked back and forth with one of my dogs with the new dog. They did great and Silo came home with us❤️

Spent a Saturday adopting our cat. Took about 3 hours from joining the cue to walking out with our pet. Be expected to wait! But that’s okay, they’re making sure everyone is safe during covid. It takes time for each person to choose their new friends. They’re a wonderful local resource. We left feeling informed and excited. Karen was so helpful and made things easy.

What a bunch of dummies. We had our dog scheduled to get neutered, and when we got there they said we'd have to reschedule because our dog is scared /aggressive. They should have mentioned that long before I drove 40 minutes for the appointment, during the countless back and forth emails in the scheduling process. Then the assistant has the audacity to tell me that I should have mentioned it. First of all, you're the vet and should be able to deal with a scared dog. Secondly, you should make people aware of the process PRIOR to coming in.

Thank you so much for placing this lovely girl with me. Aquarius (renamed Sabine) is a complete sweetheart and helped fill an empty spot in the heart after losing my long time girl, Cleo. Staff was wonderful.. Supportive and knowledgeable. People that are impatient about the wait period due to covid concerns should really be more understanding. Thank you KHS!

It was great except the wait time. But they need to do that now with all the covid concerns. We us to be able to just go in an view the cats and kittens and it was so much easier and did not cost as much. Its getting so expensive, that its no wonder they do not get adopted as fast. But everyone was so friendly and nice, and we were able to adopt two very cute kittens. They did a really nice job. We are very happy

Anyplace that saves animals is a place I love. It is a no kill shelter. Animals of all kinds are treated with love and respect. The low cost spay and nueter is a draw for people that cant afford the 600 plus at a vet. The people and volunteers are all amazing

I don’t know how humane this society is... they would rather let a cat sit in a glass box than allow them to go to a good home. Would not recommend, rude staff that make up “policies” whenever it works for them.. if you can avoid using them, that’s what I will be doing. Also VERY poorly managed, you will wait over 2 hours. I was “third in line” for 50 minutes, they did not help a single person for 50 minutes. Absolutely a waste of time.

We waited for 30-40 minutes than our name to be called and was called but the person who was supposed to be helping us walked away and had to deal with costumers they previously had and made us wait another 10 plus minutes until we finally just left. The whole experience was a waste of time when you wait for your turn and than get ignored. Never coming back.

I picked up a cat about a month ago so they were trying to get me to pay 85 dollars and I explained to them I was looking for the owner during that month so fun fact if u shelter a animal over 2 weeks their considered yours... and u have to pay that money... well I talked with a manager and made it clear I can't keep it and it's not mine so I finally talked them out of that 85... but over all they were friendly I didn't have to wait too too long...

Took care of a feral cat. The cat is doing great.

Waited 2 hours to be told that I could not adopt a cat because I checked "Maybe" to declawing on the questionnaire sheet they provided. Then was rudely rejected by the woman who was serving us. I was only given 5 minutes to look at a cat and felt like I was being rushed to choose one. Very unprofessional and uninviting establishment.

Great staff! Dropped off a lost dog that we found on the highway. They explained the whole process to us.

Do not like the new "application process" Would like to be able to see the cats available before filling out the paperwork, waiting an hour and then realizing they don't have them.

I wrote to them with a concern last year and they never even bothered to reply - they obviously didn't care

They refused to adopt any cat to my boyfriend because it would be an indoor/outdoor cat, yet don't think twice about cats who need exercise getting adopted to sedentary homes or apartments. Kitsap Humane Society was disorganized, it's volunteers seemed untrained, policies and process were inconsistent and it took 90 min for them get us through the process( even though we did pre paper work on line, identify which cats we were interested in meeting). Staff was very uninformed about any of the cats and had to go back multiple times to ask about things like medical history for each cat we inquired about. Highly disorganized and inconsistent in policy, hard to believe we were refused a cat who would live some of its life outdoors. The last cat adopted from there was white and lived a long life, dying of old age natural causes. Now the same shelter won't adopt a cat with white markings to us due to risk of predators seeing it more easily. The entire experience was disappointing, felt discriminatory, and was disorganized.

I can't say enough nice things about our Humane Society I appreciate everything that they do I'm an animal lover and I do feed stray kitties some of them had to go to the Humane Society and I took them in and hopefully they will be adopted.

Nice new buildings. Very convenient location. Volunteers work hard to help find animals new homes. We tried to help a lost cat but had many challenges trying to get assistance. We kept getting referred to other contacts. We ended up finding the cat's owner but the whole process of trying to get help was not easy.

DO NOT DONATE - The money is wasted. I do not live near Kitsap, but I made a one-time donation in memory of a friend there who died. Since then, they have probably spent the entire amount of my donation bombarding me with an unending stream of junk mail requesting more money, along with unwanted newsletters & what-not. There is no way to get off their mailing list. They don't provide any information or process for how to unsubscribe. You cannot get through to anyone via phone, & if you leave a voice message, it is ignored & they never contact you back. Donate instead to an organization that uses your money to actually help the animals rather than spend it all on more fundraising.
