We got a 3 year old dachshund who had been surrendered. Her life was not good before sunny skies got her. Yes, we went thru a rigorous adoption process, but our Bella (not her original name) has been one of our pride and joys. We wouldn't trade her for anything!!Thank you to Sunny Skies..

Due to covid many changes have taken place. Go to Petfinder.com to find pets offered by SSAR. Fill out pre-adoption papers and ask for an appt. Only open for adoptions 2 days a week at this time.

1000 stars adopted the best dog in the world from sunny skies as well as my cousin also Coincidentally adopted another amazing alumni from sunny skies and I had the great opportunity to meet some of the pups and kitties they foster when one of their wonderful volunteers needed a pet sitter I even ran into a lot of sunny skies alumni when their owners needed a sitter. And I definitely would adopt from sunny skies again and have had the best 6years with my best friend that came from here!!

We went to the pre-approved event at the Cannery Yesterday! What a great group of people volunteering their time to place animals in loving homes!

We love our new fur baby! The process is very detailed and involved, we are thankful that they are so diligent about finding appropriate placement.

Went in to adopt a dog. Right off the bat the older woman who showed us the animal we were looking at starts discouraging us and telling me she doesn't think it's gonna a good match though my dog loved my son and my son who is 19 loves him I told staff we have a huge fenced back yard and someone's almost always home to be with the animal that didn't seem to make a difference. Staff made judgement against us because my little dog growled 1x after getting scared over other dog who was much larger wanted to play. I completed application anyway 9 pages and never heard back. Dog still not adopted.

Hope my personal experience will be helpful for others. We applied for a kitten and got approved. But when we traveled for hours and arrived the same day, we were told the kitten has already been adopted. Then the staff suggested to check other available kittens. We chose one finally in the hope of rescuing another kitten. When the kitten arrived, he transmitted roundworms to our existing kitten. We immediately dewormed them both. But when I saw the roundworm in their stool, I felt very bad. It reminded me of those kittens cuddling together in a small cage, and getting disease easily from one to another. A lengthy application and reference calls confirmation initially gave me a good impression on the shelter. But when I saw our newly adopted kitten, he was skinny, not dewormed, I became skeptical that the shelter is really responsible for their furry friends.

We adopted our first cat Cinnamon (formerly Milford) at Sunny Sky's Kittenpalooza event. I had read reviews and was prepared with the paperwork to support our application: proof of current shots for our other pet, a utility bill, and a mortgage statement. In addition we had provided two references. Sunny Sky's called our vet and one of the references before approving the application. They are incredibly thorough and clearly want the best for the animals. There were about 40 people in line for the event (some were whole families) and about 30 kittens, so I think everyone went home happy. We waited about an hour for our turn because due to Covid the capacity was very limited. Still, the staff allowed us all the time we needed to meet the kittens and then processed our application swiftly. They remained responsive even days later when we messaged them with questions. I am so impressed with their kindness and professionalism. This is a volunteer-run operation. If you live nearby and have the time, they can use your help!

Lots of animals to adopt. Good process.

They would not let my wife and I adopt puppies, because they were going to stay in a heated two car garage while we were at work. Very unreasonable.

My son and granddaughter adopted two pups here. The staff was awesome and very helpful. I could tell they loved all of the fur babies! I am interested in fostering a small dog so want to get hold of the owner/manager to see how to go about this. Blessings to all the amazing volunteers!

Pre-approved me. Told me I needed to have a dog that shows no agression (we will be starting fostering kids soon). We brought the entire family and dogs to do a meet and greet. Found a dog. Got through the whole process of adopting. They found out the dog doesn't have her vaccines, so we would need to come back. After leaving they discovered the dog is agressive towards kids. No one person seems to know what's going on. Kinda like a circus without a ring leader. They had a line half a block long for a first come first serve adoptions. I will not be adopting here. They had a dog that they didn't know has agression problems, medical special needs, and didn't have vaccines and they didn't know any of it when showing or doing aa meet and greet. I asked questions. They had plenty of opportunities over a 2 hour time period to share that information that is important to know when adopting.

Along with the other bad reviews..I've seen..I wouldn't give this a one star..along with the long application and application process..absolutely no communication on your application..I do know my application was being processed..then they adopted the dog out from under me..and how do I know that..his picture was gone..no email..text..nothing..do not adopt from this place..your heart will be broken..

Love this place! The volunteers were excellent and knowledgeable. They kept the place clean and all cats (I wasn't in the dog room so I can't comment on that) seemed to be healthy and well. The pre-screening took longer than expected but it was all worth it. They took time to make sure that the potential owners would indeed take good care of the animals.

I found a senior dog that had been left in a house when the owners moved and I called sunny sky's and without hesitation I was told to bring her in the morning and they would have a place ready for her. I was in tears and so happy for this little girl.. the day after she was brought there she was featured on the website and already looked better . So thank you sunny sky's for the love, compassion and hope you give these rescues your amazing..

These places are great. As an animal lover I like to help when I can. Donating food and toys. We all should do our part.
