The care for my dog was great. The problems I experienced was with the front desk staff. After transporting my dog from another facility (which treated my dog, but couldn't provide care after 7 pm) I was made to wait and in-process my dog even though the other facility sent all the information for my dog via email and I hand carried a copy also. This took 25 minutes in which time I provided them my contact phone number. I was then told I could leave, just to be stopped by the front desk employee (Alex) and told I would need to wait in case the on duty Veterinarian needed anything from me. I asked what they would need from me that could not be given over a phone call and was told "I don't know ". I explained that I had a 2 year old in the car who was hungry and also the fact that I lived over an hour and a half away. I was made to wait 45 more minutes just to find out from my parents that the Veterinarian had briefed them on the status of my dog. My parents informed the Veterinarian that he should call me, but that never happened. The front desk employee (Alex) could see me sitting in my vehicle 20 feet away and never contacted me as to the status of my dog. After receiving the information about my dog from my parents I re-entered the facility to ask the front desk employee (Alex) why I was not contacted or notified about the status of my dog. I was told "oh I'm sorry, I thought I saved your contact information in the system". The strange thing is that when they wanted my payment information, they were sure able to locate my contact information.

My baby girl, Mean Jolene was very sick. Dr. Smithee was so patient and kind. He answered all of my questions and listened to my concerns attentively. He laid out all the options for treatments and provided thorough directions for follow-up. Justine was also very helpful and knowledgeable. Amazing staff at this facility. I'm grateful to have local access to amazing emergency pet care.

The staff at all levels is professional and experienced, and the wait time negligible. They have registration and appointments highly organized; the entire experience was positive.

They were very responsive to what we needed and acted immediately upon arrival. We live 4 hours away from Poulsbo, so they did everything they could to accommodate us. The only complaint I have is treatment/aftercare information. I deciphered a lot of what was done based off of the itemized bill we received, which was very helpful. I’m not in any way dissatisfied with anything about this clinic, at all. They were so so wonderful. But now that I have my cat home, I’m at a loss of what more I need to do for his recovery. The staff at AETC have been so polite despite my obsessing calls, and they’ve helped me as much as possible. Ultimately I will be contacting his normal vet tomorrow to learn more about what my cat needs, which is what you’re supposed to do anyways. But I think a lot of my anxiety could’ve been relieved if I got more communication with a vet tech or a doctor when my cat was actually there and being discharged. But with how insanely busy they were last week, I am just so grateful that they were able to see my cat immediately and I’m sure I will get all the information we need from his normal vet! So do not let this deter you in any way from going to this facility! That aside, I will always choose this location if either of my pets need urgent care! Wonderful staff and services. Thank you so much!

We came in on Christmas night with our injured 10 week old puppy. Every person we met over the course of the next few days at the clinic was kind, professional and competent. We are so lucky to have this resource in our area! Thank you

This was one of the best veterinary emergency room experiences I have had. Compassionate, informative and knowledgeable staff made everything about the visit outstanding. I felt 100% confident and comfortable leaving my dog with them for overnight treatment. The online checkin allows you to wait at home until your turn is up. This is the best idea ever! I would recommend them to anyone who has an animal emergency in Kitsap County.

This emergency Animal Hospital has been there for me and my dog over the years. The staff is caring and compassionate. They were there for me when my regular vet wasn't. I am so thankful for this Emergency Animal Trauma Hospital. If you have a pet emergency this is the place to go.

What amazing people. Was snowed in and didn’t know how long it would take to get out to the hospital. AETC kept in touch with me consistently during the 24 hours it took to get Django to get there. What appeared to be a critical case wasn’t (thank goodness), but it never stopped them from checking on Django’s condition during the 24 hrs. I love the online check-in. Genius. No longer have to wait in the car, unless you want too! The staff was phenomenal and I was reassured by the reviews here on Google. They live up to their sterling reputation.

I had to take my dog in after some injuries from another dog. The online system worked well, we would be at home to wait. I did call after some time to just check and see what and ETA might be. They were very kind, honest and understanding to our needs. We ended up getting called in and was well taken care of. My pup ended up having to stay the night and have a small surgery. I knew she was in really good hands. She is home recovering now.

We’ve brought 2 animals in that were at the end of their lives. The clinic has a lot of compassion and in one of the instances offered a summer of meds to deal with pain and extend the 17 year old dog’s life a little longer. That alone was extremely helpful. It’s hard to explain, but we could tell she knew it was time and was ready to go. Yesterday we had a non life threatening issue with another animal. It is an emergency vet so it is expensive, but couldn’t leave her until her regular vet appointment. They treat animals really well. She got everything she needed along with any meds she might need to deal with ongoing pain. The online registration is very easy and very convenient. They text you when they’re ready to see you and just need to provide an ETA.

The staff here genuinely cares about animals, as well as humans. We had a sudden emergency with our dog, and everyone at Animal Emergency was so caring and helpful. I hope we never have to bring our pets in for emergency vet care again, but if we do, this will be the first place we bring them.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I spent almost 6 hours here and these people never even did blood work on my dog. My dogs throat and bottom jaw were swollen and are still swollen because they never even looked at him. I will never come back to this place. My dog is now at his normal vet who actually took blood work and gave him a thorough medical exam. This place is horrible.

Our cat Cheeto was very sick, could barley walk, he has crystals in his bladder which caused a blockage so he couldn’t urinate, he was extremely weak and didn’t want anything to do with food or water.. he spent 3 nights with them and he finally came home yesterday!! Eating like his old self again and staying hydrated! They were amazing with keeping us updated and didn’t go over our budget! Would recommend this place to anyone with sick fur babies. They’re amazing. Thank you guys so much again for saving Cheetos life. ❤️

This was my first time at this vet. Right from the start everyone was very helpful, very nice and patient. Dr. was very helpful and explained everything so I could understand. Without their professional, kind help my pup wouldn't be with me today. Thanks to everyone at this hospital. I will keep you in mind if my pup needs immediate care. Kind regards Rob

Let us take a close look at how ridiculous and dishonest their billing practices are. I'm going to use the 90th percentile wage (including ER) for all calculations. 90th percentile wage for a Vet is $76 per hour 90th percentile wage for a Vet technician is $19.50 per hour 90th percentile wage for a Vet assistant is $16 per hour As a point of reference, a general surgeon licensed to perform surgery on humans makes $110 an hour on average. Emergency fee: $75. No problem Examination fee: $65 No problem Biomax: $38.22 I've seen it for less, but okay. Hospitalization: $35.88 -- I was told this was why it was so expensive! -- And they lied. IV Catheter placement: $95.49 -- Catheter cost is around $3. Time for vet + 1 assistant 20 minutes for both == $30.66 == $33.66 (slightly higher considering other supplies) about 300% markup Buprenorphine $110 for 2 ml. Cost per ml $3.55 x2 == $7.10 == 1545% markup! -- No explanation given. Propofol 28: $5.51 for 2.5 ml discounted 100% No problem Wound Care: $15.76 No problem Anesthesia Induction $101.86 Reasonable -- No problem Anesthesia Intubation $24.51 Reasonable -- No problem Anesthesia Monitoring by Tech -- $291.09 for 46 minutes. == $379 per hour! That's a 1946% markup!!! -- No explanation given Anesthesia monitoring per mode: $92.66 for 4 modes. Can't find good data on this one. 1 vet + 1 tech == reasonable if it actually takes an hour. Suture pds: $12.71 -- Okay Sterilize (autoclave etc) Surgical tools -- $54 I could only find data on surgical tools used for humans. $0.51-$0.77 per instrument. How you got to $54? I don't know. -- No explanation given Surgery -- soft tissue 20 minutes: $237. 1 vet + 1 tech + 1 assistant == $37.16. That's a 640% markup!!! -- Flat out lied Cone/Collar: $5.35 -- Reasonable -- No problem Suture Ethilon: $7.31 Reasonable -- No problem My total bill was $1,453 I was quoted a range of about $1100 to $1600 After the procedure, I was told that it was going to be close to the low end. It was almost the high end! In fact, it was almost exactly how much I told you I had available to me. $1500. So they lied again. I shouldn't have told you how much I had. Anyone reading this please be aware they are feeling you out to see how much they can gouge you. Don't let it slip. Would you mind explaining exactly how you calculated the cost of each item on the bill? Statements like "veterinary care is very expensive' is not acceptable. 'It was a hospitalization.' is not acceptable. 'It costs a lot to run a hospital' again, not acceptable. -- omg, Still gave this explanation in response. I expected it to be a little higher than what it would cost at a regular vet clinic, but that was what the $75 Emergency fee and $35.88 hospitalization fee were for... Right? To be fair, I didn't account for things like electricity, receptionist salary, employee benefits like health insurance, but even if I had, we are still not anywhere near $1500 for this $200 - $300 treatment + take home meds. Actual care wasn't bad. One issue with the service, when I asked if this (as it turns out, small) abscess was life threatening, I was told "I can't tell you that." Word for word. After thinking about that statement along with the thorough research I did on the bill, I realized the reason she "can't" tell me that was because it was a routine procedure, and likely could have waited a few hours for the local vet clinic to open where I would have been charged a reasonable amount. Not $1200+ over a reasonable amount. I was told it was an emergency, and my cat needed to be seen right away when all you suspected was a small abscess. Edit: Unless you are paying your employees over $600 an hour, your response regarding wages is irrelevant lol, you aren't paying "much higher" than the top 10% of ALL vets. A 90th percentile neurosurgeon makes $492/hr. Your condescending "you are right" remark, isn't an agreement at all, unless you agree that what you charge is ridiculous! As you can see, the pad the bill in places that are difficult to verify.(not impossible though)

They squeezed us in when we needed them even though they were super busy. Text service is cool with them giving updates. Check in service was convenient, I was able to do that on the way. Overall; the bill was a bit more than I was expecting, but I felt like the service was good. They did IV treatment on my cat, which she really needed, temperature checking, keeping temperature down with ice packs, several different medications, and the vet assistants were good at handling her & very caring. When I picked her up, she had made improvement for sure. I would recommend the vet Cameron Smithee, and I would say that they will do a good job at taking care of your pet in a emergency type situation. At the end of the day, I called 20 vets and animal hospitals & these were the only people willing to help due to “high capacity” etc and they fit me in so I’m forever thankful

Our pup had Parvovirus and the vet gave him a high chance of survival. They took such good care of our little Brandon for three days. He was able to come home early and it saved us lots of money as well. He’s making a full recovery now. We also went to the Animal Emergency and Trauma when our Scrappy dog of 15 years passed away and our Daphne of 11 years was hit by a car. They helped us with the grieving process, were super compassionate and very patient. They handled the remains so gently and couldn’t have imagined our saddest day going any better.

I called on Sunday in a panic after my cat ate a very long string and they were able to see my baby 20-30 minutes later. They acted quickly and saved my cats life by inducing vomiting to get the whole string out. I was so worried about the cost of an emergency visit but it only cost $200 (which is SO WORTH EVERY DOLLAR to me considering he could’ve had to have emergency surgery) The string could’ve caused a much worse situation had they not been so kind as to fit him in immediately. THANK YOU AETC for saving Ozai ❤️

I wasn't sure about Online Registration at first. I've learned that it is a great way to get in line, provide detailed information to help staff triage your pet, and wait in the comfort of your home for a text or call to bring your pet in to be seen by the doc. Docs were thorough yet reasonable with their recommendations. Our little guy has been admitted and we are hoping for the best. We are also confident he will receive expert care. Thank you.

The online checkin is a great way to wait at home instead of the parking lot. I was kept informed about the wait time. The vet and staff were very welcoming and compassionate in their care and treatment of my dog. So thankful to have AETC to care for our pets.

These hard working folks have been life savers for my dogs..twice in 3 months. My first dog, a German shepherd, got badly hurt and needed drains and deep sutures. They did this right away and at a reasonable price for emergency procedures. They are so caring and thorough and their communication with me was top notch. Then my smaller dog got bladder stones. Again, champion work and came in less than the estimated price range. Emma, the technician on staff that night communicated with me through the night with updates. Her communication skills are phenomenal. When I went to pick up my dog, I was surprised to see their parking lot was completely full and the nice receptionist told me they're super busy at the moment. And yet, when it was time to take my dog home, they were polite, efficient and calm even though they had so much apparently going on inside. Good news! They are building a new facility that will be 10 times larger and have a designated cat wing and an ICU ward. It will be up the hill by Home Depot. Worth noting.... They do online check in. At first it confused me but it's a fantastic way to get your pet in for emergency work. Yes, the filling out of information takes a few minutes but it saves you from having a possible lengthy wait in the parking lot. The answered questions dictate the degree of emergency. There's even a question of how far away you are from facility to allow for your travel time. It really is a great way to get your pet seen as your pet can rest at home instead of the parking lot until it is time to be seen. What an asset to our community. I am beyond grateful for your care.

They are extremely neglectful and not worth visiting. They rather eat pizza and hide away then check on the animals brought in suffering from pneumonia. I had to call many times over the course of 3 hours to have my pets even seen, yes I watched them sit in the room not even checked on until I started to get angry with them. Then after agreeing to keep them over night they called back and told us as soon as we arrived home, hours away, that we had to return and get them. You're better off saying goodbye to your pet then bringing them here I would give them no stars if it was possible. They don't even deserve one star for their neglectfulness.

Our dog (Whiskey) was struck by a car in the early morning hours. He was in extreme respiratory distress. He had a traumatic pneumothorax. They immediately took the dog in and performed a decompressing thoracentesis to re-expand his lung. He had IV fluid and oxygen X-rays, ultrasound and pain management. I observed him closely for 24 hours to confirm he was stable. We brought him home the next day! There is no doubt he would not have survived had they not intervened so quickly. Dr. Emma Spatz was very kind and professional. I wholeheartedly recommend this emergency animal hospital.

I was concerned about my dog and had called several vets closer to me to try to get an appointment without success. Then I found Animal Emergency and Trauma. Check in process was easy and all online. They called to check in during the waiting process and I received a call when they were ready to see us. Staff was so warm, they treated my dog with such kindness The process end to end was a good experience, website, submitting what's wrong with your animal online, communication during the wait, the staff, and the vet. Highly recommend.
