The best emergency vet. So kind and compassionate. They were able to squeeze us in when my puppy needed it the most. Would definitely recommend VCA SE! Thank you ❤

Our dog collapsed suddenly and was unable to walk. We called another emergency vet clinic - their phone message said they were unable to see any animals as they were "at capacity" but would we like to speak with someone. Saying yes, we were put on infinite hold. We hung up and called VCA Southeast. A human answered after one ring. She said bring your dog right in and call us from the parking lot. We weren't there more than 5 minutes before they came out to our car with a stretcher and took our dog inside to take care of her. They listened and were completely human and compassionate even though it is New Year's Day and the parking lot was crowded. Five stars for VCA Southeast! I had forgotten what it's like to be treated with respect and compassion like that. No phone menu, no waiting on hold, real humans, caring staff. So grateful!

We scrambled to find a vet open on Christmas day after our cat seemingly ate some chocolate. We found these folks open and they were incredible. The vet put or minds at ease and didn't even charge because an exam wasn't needed. So thankful we chose VCA Southeast.

Just had the report sent to my normal vet for a visit two weeks ago. The Doctor at VCA told me my dogs heart was significantly larger since our last emergency visit in June. Prescribed a life long heart medicine. Consulted with her normal vet today about both reports and the information doesn’t match what I was told at VCA. The Radiologist consult states his heart is normal yet the Doc at VCA prescribes a life long heart medicine - that is not necessary. Horrible and offensive.

Brought in my 4 month old kitten for upper respiratory problems. They rushed him in and took excellent care of him. Treatment was quick and he responded very well. By the time we got him home he already looked better. His eyes were open he had a huge appetite and was purring like crazy. He feels much better. Thank you VCA.

VCA SEPAH and Dr Krug were amazing! Everyone was so nice and helpful and kept us updated. We brought our old dog in yesterday, because when we woke up she looked terrible. They helped us right away, let us know that they suspected that she was septic. They treated her shock quickly and appropriately, and treated her and us with the utmost kindness. Dr Krug made all the arrangements for us to bring her to VCA Northwest for an ultrasound. So it was super easy peasy for us to bring her there. They were already expecting us, and everything was breeze. We are forever grateful to dr Krug for going above and beyond. Everyone that we encountered at SEPAH was so kind and nice. The receptionists were wonderful and all of the techs and assistants were amazing. It felt like they all dropped what they doing, to stabilize our sweet old lady Mazey, and it was greatly appreciated. Sadly, the ultrasound found badness, and we decided to humanely euthanize her. We ran home to get our other dog, and then brought them both back to SEPAH. When we returned, we were met with even more kindness. I can’t say enough wonderful things about everyone that worked yesterday at SEPAH.

Got a kitten and two days later noticed that he had worms. Took him to VCA on a Sunday morning and they diagnosed him quickly and prescribed him a pill and provided me with instructions on what to do from there! Had to wait two hours to be seen but that is nothing unusual for a busy ER vet on a Sunday morning. Thank you for helping out a first time kitty mom!!

Great vet. were able to help my dog in an emergency situation. My wife waited in virtual queue at another vet—8AM-1:30PM—only to be told they couldn't see my dog that day. An abscess which increased in size from an orange to a soccer ball within hours was the problem. I do not blame the other clinic. Maybe they had more critical animals at that time, maybe they were short-staffed? Who knows, but during the pandemic, everyone is quick to anger and slow to extend grace. The other clinic has been good in the past, although pricey. This problem would have set us back about $5,000 if they had seen him. SE PDX Animal hospital saw him that day, did surgery, found severe underlying trauma in abd. muscles, repaired it, gave us meds and a good plan of care, cones of shame, and an excellent conversation with the vet, via telephone. The bill was under $1000. Yes, they need money upfront. The neighborhood isn't Lake Oswego and I'm sure they have been stiffed plenty of times in the past. Rules that that don't appear without cause. Saw all the negative reviews. People have unrealistic expectations. Go to a human hospital in the US and they are mandated to treat you. They make up some of the lost money by charging more and writing off the expected loss. Most people have insurance. Very different in the world of animals. Economically, it operates more like an auto repair shop. Do you get to take your car home if you haven't paid for the repairs? Many people expect an animal equivalency to the human model because the emotions are the same. We love our human families and we extend that love to our pets. Asking for payment up front allows the business to survive. It isn't personal.

Took my dog in for x rays and they gave our dog back to us while we waited for results. While getting the results they told us we needed to pay the bill and proceeded to tell us they wouldn’t give our dog back until we paid. We had him the whole time and they were very rude about it all and over charged us for just an x ray they didn’t even do an exam or take his temperature and charged us $500. Will not be returning

Compassionate and kind, they helped me today when my kitten had to be put down. They helped me take my baby across the rainbow Bridge and made it as peaceful as possible for our KitCat.

All in all, if I needed another emergency visit, I’d roll the dice with somewhere else. If I needed a new regular vet, I’d give them a shot. Did not have a great experience, but what else are you going to do? Took my dog in for some swelling of his face. It seems like they weren’t able to examine inside his mouth, gave up, and just prescribed antibiotics and pain meds. Then told me to schedule dental work with my regular vet. I’m not a doctor. I’m not going to schedule a procedure I know nothing about, or know if it’s necessary. They also charged my credit card 3 times. Twice at first, called them to correct it, think it’s good, check in the morning and there are 3 charges for the same amount. That’ll get corrected. I’m not concerned about that part. It’s frustrating that it even needs to be corrected. The staff I did talk to seemed to be understanding, concerned, and empathetic for my pup. There should be an app or network of pet emergency room wait times—try to lighten the load on these folks.

Came in on 9/7 to have them run a T4 (thyroid test) on my 12 year old beagle. They said it would take 24-48 hours (things take time, I get it). Doc performed an evaluation, took blood work and x-rays (NON OF WHICH ARE NECESSARY FOR A THYROID CHECK). I thought it might be helpful to rule out anything else. Sent him home with pain and muscle relaxer No call after 48 hr, so I call them. Receptionist said the results were in, but they doc hadn't looked at them and someone should call shortly. They did, but only to say that somehow they had NEVER SENT OFF FOR THYROID TESTING. It's been now 4 days of my dog shaking uncontrollably, excessive drinking and urination, and now diarrhea and vomiting. Don't go here.

I took my roommate here to put down her elderly cat with serious health complications and everyone was so beyond understanding from start to finish. My roommate was obviously very upset and needed me to be the person in charge but they made a horrible situation a little easier. First you drive to the parking lot and they have a phone number listed and you call and tell them which lot number you’re in. Then they bring out the intake paperwork and call you in so there’s no waiting crying in a waiting room. They put us in a private room and had someone explain the process gently, and even had treats for the dogs and cats available. We were given lots of extra time to do things at our own pace even though they were closing. We also had cremation services and they put so much thought and care into that as well, from an engraved box for the ashes to hand written notes to a saved patch of fur. I can only speak on our experience but really just blown away by how kind and caring everyone we interacted with was.

My cat was brought in for not having touched his food in the past 48 hours. There was a bit of a wait (2 hours for me personally) but that is completely understandable given the high demand for vets right now. Once we were seen, the process was quick and easy for me. I wasn't able to go in with my cat but it sounds like the vets got along very well with him. He was out in less than an hour. I was worried about the cost but the doctor was very generous and lowered my bill so I was able to provide the care my cat needed without taking a huge financial hit. I was very pleased and thankful for the hospitality they showed me and would recommend going here. 11/10 :)

Had to take my dog here for stitches last year after a pretty bad accident. They were able to see us a lot sooner than another emergency vet and I'm so glad I took her here; they took such great care of her and made me feel at ease despite not being able to go into the building due to the pandemic. My dog healed nicely and I'm so grateful for the staff at this VCA.

Wow, I was out of town on business when I got that dreaded phone call. My husband had left our Yorkie under the care of someone else and he had run away and got hit by a car. He was taken first to Dove Lewis which quoted him $15.000 dollars cash to repair his damage. That's right Fifteen THOUSAND DOLLARS! My husband brought him home according to DL to await euthanizing. Not on my watch. I took him to my wonderful vet at Linwood Vet center which referred us to this hospital. Got seen on Monday, Surgery on Tuesday. Something occurred that required us to bring him in daily for a simple blood test and I had another serious event happen and missed the second day. I called and was blessed to speak to Alyssa. They were so busy and I did have to go in the evening but she was so honest and such a kind person. She didn't beat me up for not calling just kept me in the loop and made time for me in a business that seems to me to be so busy that you have to be extra special to work there. The vet and the discharge nurse were so smart wonderful and informative.\ And my new favorite Alyssa, you will never know how bad my day was or how much I needed someone like you .

I’ve been here twice and both times during covid chaos, but each time for a different dog. I appreciate that they’re fairly nearby, there’s a dedicated parking lot, and the doctors and techs have always been pleasant and helpful. I’ve only had phone interactions with the veterinarians, but they’ve been positive experiences. Plus, my first time here was free of charge (I was panicking, but apparently my dog just had a little bee stinger in her paw that was very easy to remove). The insanely long wait times represent the new standard lately and frankly, I’m just glad they were able to see me both times when other local facilities had reached capacity. My only grievance is that just about every front desk interaction (again, only via phone) left a sour taste, hence the star deduction. I know you are stressed and overwhelmed, but pet owners feel the same way.

VCA Southeast Portland animal Hospital is awesome. I bought a corgi puppy which ended up getting parvovirus, and VCA did a test and admitted him instantly. They administered IV as well as an anabiotic shot and antinausea medication to help with the symptoms. The following day he had one more follow up IV to keep him hydrated. I’m thankful for their help and catching it so quick which attributed to his survival. I would definitely recommend going to them.

If you love your animals do NOT take them here. We had to put our cat down yesterday. 14 years in our family, few weeks old to now, and they did her wrong. They took her, wrapped her in a blanket then placed her in a box and brought her to us. They didn't even sedate her first, which other clinics will do. After 5-10 minutes of saying good bye to her. They sedated her in front of us. They didn't even wait 2 minutes for it kick in. Instead they said after the sedation shot to "Keep talking to her." Then proceeded to euthanize her when the first shot hasn't even kicked in yet. I 110% believe my fur baby was in pain in her last moments because of them. DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!!! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PAIN OR WHAT YOUR PET IS DEALING WITH!!!!

How dare ANYONE leave a negative review for this place, because YOU can't afford it, or because the wait times are too long for you? This is a vet, but it is also still a business! If you can't afford to pay when you get here, how do you expect a company to continue to provide services for ALL the public, (During the middle of the CV19 DELTA pandemic) , if they give out charity care for you? Get pet insurance. It's the cost of 4 lattes a month. And speaking of pandemic, THESE folks are STILL open and providing services for you. Sure. You may have to sit in your car for 3 hours, like I did, but guess what? YOUR PET GETS CARE... That could not be possible, were it not for this company. Look... At this point, I don't know if Olaf, my cat is going to pull through his medical emergency. He is still very, very sick... But these folks took him, and cared for him, when no one... Not even my own vet had any appointments. The $350 it cost me to take Olaf to VCA, is nothing, even though I'm as poor as everyone else. You know why? I have one more day with my cat, and potentially, thousands of tomorrows.

I just have to write a review for these lovely, lovely people. My cat had an ataxia episode (couldn't get his feet under him and looked drunk walking) and we just...freaked out. My partner called VCA Southeast and the lovely people there talked to him all about the cat and his needs and calmed us down and suggested, since he was walking normally and acting normally, we wait and bring him in, in the morning. This was good for myriad reasons, not the least of which our cat has not let a vet touch him in about seven years. They advised us on how to give him gabapentin the night before and again in the morning, and lo and behold, they were able to do a full exam, diagnose his middle ear infection AND a possible food allergy, and gave us back an untraumatized cat. A lot of our stress was not just about what was wrong with the cat but that we were certain no vet would be able to look at him. I am so, so grateful for Dr. Currah and the whole team there at VCA Southeast. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

If you care about your pets do not go here. They took in my cat in came out with an outrageous fee to test her. Once I told them can't afford this huge ridiculous amount they gave her back in a box, no one telling me anything but still made me pay 115 dollars. I paid 115 dollars for a box and towel. They are a scam. The vet lied and said she is getting better and my cat died the next day. Lots of other vet clinics in the area who would love to help you, they don't give a dam about any pets.

I brought Leo here months ago and they were very informative which made me feel better about him being sick. Several months later, I called after their schedule was full for the day; they were dealing with multiple emergencies. The receptionist was thoughtful and concerned about my current issue and had the Dr call me at her earliest convenience. Dr Holmes was VERY pleasant, helpful and reassuring. We talked like friends and she put my mind at ease. I moved to another part of town but if either of my pups need attention, I will be travelling back to this clinic.

Have unfortunately had to take my pup there twice. The first time because of a UTI after a spay and the second because of an injury on her paw. For starters, the wait time is ridiculous. However, I understand they are busy so is what it is. With that being said, you would think they would at minimum come out to look at your animal and then decide whether or not to make you wait in your car for 4+ hours. After our first visit the lady who brought our dog out was not only rude, but completely incompetent. We use prong collars. They work. They are safer than flat collars. Period. Full stop. She comes out and says “this thing (thing is said rudely)on thing is too tight” rolls her eyes, and hands it to me. Starters, most people don’t know how to correctly use one—they aren’t meant to hang down nor be “too right”. Hers is fitted perfectly. Anyhow, that happened. So fast forward to the injury. Discharge instructions pretty much non existent. The stitches came out and I was concerned about it so I emailed them a picture (at their request). Was told the vet would call me as soon as they looked at it. That was yesterday. Nothing at all. Long story short, she had to go back in to get restiched today ($720 later), but I took her to heart and soul—who didn’t make me wait in the parking lot and got her right in. Only saving grace about this place is the vet—she was so kind and sweet—not sure why she is working there, but is what it is.

It was a bad day for us. Staff took care of Mokey-Jo, & me. VCA-VETS, were there for us! That's all I need to know. Thank you so much! Mokey-Jo crossed the Reign-Bow Bridge, now she's coming home.
