Horrible client experience! I'm looking somewhere else! They traumatized my cat!

We have been here since our dog was a puppy -he is 6 now.Today, they charged us $ 72 to examine the dog when they couldn't even look at him because he got aggressive and they called us right away. I totally understand that people's safety first, but it is a scam that they make us pay for exam and time when they did not look at it. Very disappointed for the service.

I've brought our dog to Powell for years, and generally felt... okay about the experience. Expensive, but informative and good care. Since COVID, they've moved to a touch-less system. Understandable. It's difficult to have the rapport with your vet that I think we all desire, but I get it. Earlier in the year our dog has a small nail issue, and I was left feeling taken advantage of as she was in and out in 10 minutes with little more than some doggie antibiotics for $175. On our last touchless visit, I was quoted an astronomically high $690 for a dental cleaning, I decided to look elsewhere for options, as our last cleaning was $350. I checked in with a few other vets, all bid within the $300-400 range, and so I went in for an actual in person visit at Banfield in Beaverton, due to family recommendations. The last time we got a dental cleaning at Powell, we also asked for a quote to remove a small cyst about the size of a dime. We were told it was benign, and not necessary, but would be $1300. Banfield, quoting us nearly half the cost of a dental cleaning, also let us know that removing the cyst, while she was down for the dental cleaning, would cost $150. I know firmly believe that Powell Vet is price gouging their customers. At Banfield, we can get a dental cleaning and cyst removal for $500. The EXACT same service is $1990 at Powell. At Banfield, I can see my vet, speak with them, get a sense of what's really going on. At Powell, they want me to drop my dog off with no contact and charge me 4x the price. Shocking.

If you’re not a current client, don’t bother attempting to become one. When I called they said while they are accepting new clients, they aren’t seeing them for about 8-9 weeks out.

I started using Powell back in 2015/2016 when I got my first cat while living in the area. They were consistently great. Powell is Cat Friendly Certified and we’ve never had an issue with the waiting room - they have an area blocked off for cats. Dr. Welker and Dr. Flora are our absolute favorites. Both are so knowledgeable and Dr. Welker was like the cat whisperer with one of our cats. We’ve since moved out of state and are struggling to find a Cat Friendly Certified clinic or a vet as awesome as the ones at Powell.

I can't say enough good things about Powell Vet. Everyone is amazing: so caring and friendly, and so so loving to our sweet dogs. One of our dogs was diagnosed with mast cell tumors and they were so competent in treating him and then referring out to an oncologist. When the day came that we had to say goodbye, Dr. Welker was so compassionate and genuine. We will forever drive across town to bring our dog friends to Powell Vet.

I'm really upset at this place. I had been referred here and even referred another friend here. However the events and treatment after a recent dental cleaning on my senior dog, I will not refer anyone else.

First time visit with a new puppy. Vet and staff were great. Answered all my questions. They were great with my dog. Didn't feel rushed. Clearly explained next steps.

All around great staff and great care. Definitely pricier than some other places, but to get to see vets that actually remember you and your dog is awesome. Also, they ended up doing a tick removal free of charge the one time my pup got a tick since it was such a quick appointment. Not something you’ll see at other places, is my guess. All this said, my pup loves coming here, despite the shots and temperature-taking!

Very personal staff and individual care. Our Dr. sat with us for 20 min after finishing exam and immunisations to just talk about our new pup and let us ask questions.

I took my new puppy in for a check up. He's a rescue and still young, so he has some fear of people. I mentioned it to the vet tech, Sara, and she said give him his space when she could. She was patient with him while trying to scan him for a microchip, as he would get nervous and growl and try to get away. She would back off for a second and let him smell the device she was using. She lost Dr Gummer know he was scared of people before he walked in. When he came in, my dog started barking at him. Dr Gummer asked for the lead and if he could take my dog to get to know each other. They returned after a few minutes and my puppy was more calm. Dr Gummer was great with him through the rest of the exam. Dr Gummer also talked to me and addressed my concerns that brought me in in the first place.

We took our family cat here for her wellness exam as an alternative to the location on SE Powell Blvd. The staff was friendly and polite. They had a nice waiting area with some books with photos of animals that were fun to read with my 3 year old.

This place can be a little expensive but I'm still giving them five stars because they are skilled and compassionate. Dr Welker is the best vet I have dealt with, it feels like your dog is her only patient when she is in the room.

My poor pup has had a rough couple of incidents (ate some incense sticks on one occasion and got attacked at the park on another). Powell Vet did such a great job with him and never charged for things he didn’t need, never did stuff he didn’t need but did everything he did. They were fantastic and I plan on goin to them for the rest of my puppy’s shots and other work he needs done! :) Shout out to Dr. Flora for seeing him in an emergency when he was bleeding from an attack at the park. She got him in and fixed him right up! <3

This place is incredible. Every time we go in with our cats we get the best care from all the staff and especially Dr. Welker. Our oldest cat is extremely nervous and she works very well with him. We have had to call and ask for advice multiple times for our kitten and the techs always call back, leave messages, and call back in a few days to check on how things are going. We cannot say enough good things!!

Dr. Flora is an amazing doctor and she genuinely cares about animals. One of my dogs had chronic ear infections that required surgery 3x a year, very painful for him. He has been to multiple vets and nothing. She saw him one time and gave us options that NONE of the dozens of vets even mentioned, he's been pain free for months. I don't trust anybody else with my babies.
