We have always had good experiences with Lombard Animal Hospital. All of their staff are helpful and loving to the animals. They have everything so well organized to do curbside service and keep everyone as safe as possible.

Informative, sensitive staff for your furry friends. Lovely people to interact with. I learned stuff about my 8 year old cat that I never even considered. Edit: It seems like many here, I also have to update my rating of LAH. I haven't been there in 2 years since a series of bad experiences caused me to re-evaluate my support. My cat was having issues vomiting and after discussing some options we agreed to bring her in and have her examined. I mentioned that my cat gets very agitated after car rides and at the vet so they gave me gabapentin to give her before bringing her in. The first visit didn't work because, despite the sedative, my cat was still very agitated to the point that they couldn't properly examine her. So they tell me to bring her back another day with more sedative. Same story. So they suggest me spending $100 to give her a sedative injection to put her out and examine her and also propose hundreds of dollars of blood tests. It felt like they only cared about money, not about giving my cat the correct sedative amount and getting a diagnosis before suggesting extremely costly (and potentially pointless) tests. Gave me a very sour taste in my mouth and I haven't been back since. VCA has been a much better option for me since.

I have been a customer of this veterinary clinic for a few years now and over the past year and a half, since COVID, I have experienced a significant decline in quality of service from them. More often than not, they make mistakes with my requests for prescription refills, fail to call me back or get back to me when they say, and are rarely kind or humble when they make errors. I recently needed my dog's medication refilled and they failed twice to tell me correctly when they were going to refill it, which delayed the process of me picking up the medication and put my dog's health in danger. They were not apologetic and the staff was rude to me over the phone. They excuse their behavior by saying they are short-staffed. I'm sorry, but it's been that way for several months now and that's not my problem. Will be seeking services elsewhere.

I called when my rabbit was experiencing the beginning stages of GI stasis and was told they didn’t have the capacity to see him. That’s understandable, but I wasn’t given any other suggestions of other vets or resources!

We have given Lombard Animal Hospital thousands of dollars for the care of our elderly dog. Since the pandemic, they have been overwhelmed with new clients, and their quality has dropped extremely. I live a two minute walk away. My dog started choking, his nose was bleeding, and he began coughing up blood. I called in a panic and explained that I was around the corner, and that the emergency vet was 20 minutes away. They would not let me bring my dog, and coldly told me to make my way to the emergency vet. Thankfully, my dog coughed up the long, sharp, bloody blade of grass that was causing the problem, and now I'm at the emergency vet just waiting for them to check if he has damaged his throat, but truly, he could have choked to death around the corner from his own vet. They have lost my trust and my business. I can't believe they could turn away one of their own clients when they call in a panic like that. I am heartbroken.

After 18 years as a loyal customer, I was astonished by the treatment I received at Lombard Animal Hospital last week. I've been going there since 2003, when my two geriatric cats were kittens. I live clear across town but thought a continuity of care was important for my elderly cats' health. Google maps informed me that because of two car crashes, I was going to arrive 10 mins. late for my appt. I contacted the office with apologies. When I arrived, precisely 10 mins. late, I was told that my cat couldn't be seen and I'd missed my appt. So I drove all the way home to deep Southeast with my cat howling in my ear the whole time. As I left, the parking lot was completely empty. I received a call to reschedule and was explained "the rules," and told they had many new pets to see since the pandemic sparked a boom in pet ownership. I'm glad they are swimming in business, but this lack of loyalty for longtime clients is so hurtful. My cats deserved a vet that would see them through their entire lives. Post pandemic, I have decided that I value relationships over rules. I have learned that sometimes people need a little grace, like being seen even when they are 10 mins. late, especially when given a heads up. I was doing my best but I can't be perfect enough for Lombard Animal Hospital. They treated me and my two-decade long loyalty like garbage. We all deserve better.

When I called the office to ask who I could email about my concerns of inadequate care, not wanting to leave a bad review, I was told to go ahead and leave a bad review. So here goes; my dog has gone to this clinic for years, she is healthy and needed her vaccinations and medications updated. I guess during Covid they got new owners who claim to offer an Integrative approach, which sounds reasonable enough. However, my dog was booked for a just a routine check up because we had not been to vet since pre-covid. Without informing or asking us, they apparently booked us as new patients for a full integrative medicine work-up. When we arrived they spent 25 minutes trying to pressure us into taking this expensive appointment and heavily implying we didn't care for our dog if we just wanted the regular check up. Eventually she resigned herself to merely doing our routine vaccines and check up (for $360!). They said they would then call my husband and the dog to come in, but they did not. Getting hot in the car on a 85 degree day, he eventually called and the person on the phone was not aware of the situation and started at the beginning guilting him about why he was booked for a full integrative intake and curtly asking what did he want instead. They then told my husband he would have to wait an additional 20 minutes in the hot car, with a small, increasingly anxious dog, right off the very busy & noisy Lombard until they were able to get the dog in for the visit. At this point it was clear the staff was not amenable to us or our pet so we felt that the quality of the visit would be affected negatively. I don't know why they came at us with such a hostile tone and aggressive guilt based sales pitch for their preferred approach, but I can say that my husband chose to reschedule to avoid conflict. When i called to verify the time of the new appointment they couldnt find the appoinment and asked if it was for my long deceased dog and then shared that there was no new appointment at all. Now my dog would have had delayed access to heartworm prevention medication and potentially important vaccines because of their strangely petty office culture. I was able to book at another vet and she will be kept up to date fortunately. Sorry to be negative, but they did need to hear this information so they can improve their approach to integrating the prior owner's patients into their care as continuity of care is an important element of taking over a new practice. So is kindness. I hope they integrate some of that. As I stated, I would rather submit this concern to the owner privately, if you want to clarify that you have received this feedback and will work to rectify the issues, then I will happily delete this review.

Paid $160.for my dogs constant itching. Didn't get to even see Dr Lucas even though he could have stood over 6 ft away in the parking lot. Wasn't able to afford the Rx right away, and when I could afford it 4 months later, he refused to honor the prescription without my paying for another office visit! Dr Lucus gave me the impression that he only cares for the money, not the animals.

I started coming to Lombard Animal Hospital when my family adopted bunnies and our regular vet wouldn't see them. I learned about your integrative care and decided to bring our English Bulldog to see Dr. Victoria. I have had such a good experience with your clinic throughout our near-monthly visits over the past six months (between the bunnies and the dog) that I have decided to make Lombard our primary vet for all our family pets. I have recommended your clinic to my neighbors and friends. I'm so happy I started coming to your clinic!

I really don’t think I can convey the amount of disappointment and lack of professionalism I experienced at this establishment. During Covid, I expect the same amount of care and attentiveness to my pet as any other time. This was not the case with my pets care. I never once met the vet that saw my pet other than speaking to her on the phone. I was told I was getting “a” dose of revolution for him at the appointment which was actually a six pack that I didn’t realize was why the bill was so high until I had purchased it and it was too late. The revolution was more than the bloodwork itself. I was never asked about my budget and what I could and could not afford. At the end of the telephone visit, I was told the total which wasn’t doable for me. I asked for more details and they were going to test for several diseases that my pet was already tested for when I adopted him. It was a chunk of money and I had to retrieve the records again for them even though it was documented that he had previously tested negative for all the disease processes they wanted to test. Fast forward to a few weeks after the appointment, my pet is having chronic health issues again. I called the office, asked to give a message to the doctor and asked that she call me back. The next day I received a call from the vet tech who informed me that the vet was refusing to advise and stated “our hands are tied”. I had originally asked for her opinion and also if she would prescribe an anti-biotic, something that had worked for my pet in the past. I was told by the vet tech again the doctor would not advise and if I wanted an antibiotic I should go back to the emergency vet I had recently been to with him. I told the vet tech I wasn’t coming back and this wasn’t quality care. My pet was not in distress, not lethargic and in no way of critical need of emergency medicine. If I hadn’t caught his issues, you would never know anything was abnormal as he was his happy go lucky self. Just as in human medicine, you follow up with your PCP for general health concerns, you don’t go to the ED unless something is life threatening or needs immediate attention. This is no different except for a doctor who chose not to do her job. I was never offered an appointment over the phone, just told my pet wasn’t able to be seen that week. I am baffled at the fact that I wasn’t offered any sort of follow up. No phone call, no advisement to get my pet by until being able to be seen...nothing. If the conversation would have gone something like “we’re really sorry we can’t get you in, can we offer you an appointment in 2-3 weeks to follow up and have you do XYZ in the meantime?” I would not be writing this review right now, but I am and it makes me really sad. My cat deserves better. I thankfully was able to see another vet that gave me many options, worked with my budget and my cat is on the road to health. This clinic will not be apart of his care in the future. I am not a person who enjoys writing these reviews online as I understand the impact they have - in this case, i think it’s very deserved and I hope this helps others in choosing a veterinary office that is dedicated to animal care and working with owners and pets in an ethical manner. In my opinion, this office is far from that standard.

Our cat Oscar was going bald. The diagnosis from another vet was food allergies. We put him on a special dry food diet and he was getting steroid treatment, but did not improve. On advice of a friend who also cares for cats, we took him to Lombard Animal Hospital. They suggested we change his food to wet, whitefish-based cat food. We took him off of the special dietetic food and stopped any further steroid treatment. We started feeding him the newly recommend food. Magic! All his hair grew back and Oscar became happy and healthy again. ❤️ Big thanks and love to the crew at Lombard Animal Hospital ????

Dr. Victoria is my rats new vet, and she is wonderful. She was kind, courteous, and patient. She has an obvious passion for animals and an extensive knowledge. I grew up out of state and have had the same vet for 20+ years, so to feel so at home in this new place was an unexpected gift. To be able to be pay for the exam, as well as both of the recommendations for my baby, for just under $100 was a second unexpected gift. I'm grateful to have found this office.

We are new to Portland and took our terrier mix here to get her allergy medication refilled. Her skin allergies since moving here have been out of control. The vet was more concerned with getting her records from our former vet from out of state than listening to her medical history. Basically, 400 dollars later, our dog was on steroids for ten days and she was put on flea control (she didn’t have fleas). She was not given anything to control the allergies long term, not even the prescription allergy medication we had her on previously. One month later, she is worse than ever. I don’t feel as if this vet listened to our concerns or worked with us in addressing our dogs health needs in any way. I don’t want to go back to them and I am now starting the search for a compassionate, quality vet to partner with me in helping Eleanor.

We have now STOPPED coming here. Some of the new staff is just rude and unfriendly. They are difficult to work with now and seem like they are getting enough business they don't need to be nice anymore. I would definitely reccomond trying somewhere else if you want good service and employees who enjoy speaking with you.

I have brought several of my rabbits to Lombard Animal Hospital. It’s tricky to find a vet who not only knows about rabbits, but has one themselves! Everyone I’ve met here is kind and conscientious, and they’ve given me great advice for the health of my bun buns.

My pup, Zucchini, has a lot of fear and anxiety issues but needed an urgent visit for an eye emergency. These folks were so sweet and helpful getting my dog treated and knew all the tricks to be able to do so safely (for him and them.) The price was great and everyone from start to finish was helpful.

My husband and I have been taking our pets to LAH for over a decade. Their level of expertise, professionalism and caring for the well-being of our fur children has set the bar so high. I highly recommend Lombard Animal Hospital to anyone who is looking for a new veterinarian, or looking for second opinions.

This is THE vet to go to if you want what is best for your animals and your own peace of mind. Great staff, they take all of your concerns seriously and don't rush through appointments or discussing any of your questions. Great with rabbits too which is a big plus!

I have been taking my dogs there for a few years now Montie (RIP) and Milo. While Montie was having health challenges they never gave up on him. We tried everything that we could with the help of my mom. I never once felt like they were trying to sell me anything, they are very transparent, and willing to share their knowledge and resources. This place is simply amazing

If there is a friendlier and more compassionate group of people to help you through the highs and lows of pet ownership, I'm not sure I could believe it. Everyone here is super caring and willing to work with your schedule and do what it takes to make you and your pet happy.
