Hot Diggity! Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Portland, Washington

We had amazing experiences with Hot Diggity. They helped take care of a lapse in coverage due to our mistake and made sure our dog was safe and secure. Love these folks!

We have used HDD for years, both with our late dog and our current dog Penny. Due to past abuse, Penny is very particular about who she trusts, and we were very anxious about leaving her to go on vacation. But Indy put in so much work and patience in the weeks leading up to our vacation, and really earned Penny's trust to the point that we were comfortable leaving. Indy has a very sweet and calming presence that Penny really responds to! She also really listened to the information we gave her about Penny, including triggers and particulars, which again we appreciated so much. Indy's updates are always very personal and we can tell that she actually dotes on Penny and really cares for her. With every update we were able to relax more and more, which was so amazing and appreciated since this has been our first vacation in almost 2 years. Indy was very responsive the entire time we were gone, which was again so appreciated. It really helped us to let go and actually enjoy our time away. When we got home, Penny seemed happy and calm, and it was such a relief knowing that she was loved and cared for so well. We highly recommend HDD!

I was really hesitant to write a review. I recognize the importance of these for small businesses…but I am choosing to do so just to ensure this doesn’t happen again and if you have any concerns about your dog’s safety you ask clarifying questions of this company. A friend of mine placed a frantic call to me from across the country that HDD would not be able to continue caring for their dogs. One of the dogs had barked and then nipped a dog walker. Throughout the week, different employees were sent to walk their dogs. Some had no issues with the dogs, some were afraid and would not complete the service. I do understand that larger dogs can be intimidating when they are barking/growling/etc. But when HDD called and had my partner and I complete the services they were paid to do…we were shocked at how little issues we had with the dog. my partner had also never met the dog before and I had only met him for a couple minutes several weeks prior to this. On separate occasions we both entered the apartment and had no issues. Now, was the dog scared when we walked in? Yes. Did he growl/bark? Yes. But this is not unusual behavior for a dog that is meeting a stranger and has had a fairly stressful week. Within 5 minutes both my partner and I were able to gain the trust of the dog and had no issues. Another employee for the company had also had no issues with the dog. My frustration with HDD is this…if you’re gonna professionally work with dogs, this behavior did not seem out of line for a frightened dog and was easily handled by several people. Dogs are animals and they are unpredictable. I would absolutely never want anyone to be in danger but Being able to understand the difference between fear and aggression seems like it would be an important skill for anyone working with dogs and entering into homes. And with that said…there was an employee that was able to enter the apartment with no issues…why could they not continue the service? The only answer was to completely drop them as clients (and by the way charge them for services not completed) while they were thousands of miles away?? No solutions offered ? It appears that HDD has a history of great service and I do believe that this is an anomaly. My goal is not to dissuade you from using this service (although I would not recommend) But instead I just highly recommend that you ask about each employee scheduled to care for your dogs and how they might approach unforeseen behavior. Also have a solid back up plan because HDDs back up plan was to not continue to provide care for an animal.

Update 2/11/21: due to personal circumstances along with being informed that Bibi has left the company, I'm currently attempting to get my account with HDD closed and a refund for payments made on future services. It's now been nearly 24 hours with ZERO acknowledgement of my request. While Bibi is amazing, other walkers who were sent to work with my girl have either made mistakes that were completely unacceptable or just disappeared after one or two walks. If I don't hear back from the admin office by 10AM today, I'll be attempting contact again until I can talk to someone who can give me straight answers. If they don't immediately start the process of closing my account, I'll be filing a report with the BBB by the end of the week My dog is very high energy and has a history of some not so great behaviors, so I had to be very careful about who to hire to help with her care Hot Diggity! has exceeded expectations so far. They had me fill out detailed forms where I could explain my pup's specific needs throughly. Then, they matched her with a walker who has experience with dogs who have similar temperament and size. I got to meet Bibi before the first walk so we could chat a bit and make sure my girl was OK with her I'm very happy knowing that my girl is in safe hands when I have long work days!

We switched to Hot Diggity! a few months ago and we couldnt be happier. Their communication is top notch and they are as reliable as it gets. They have also done overnight pet sitting for us, and that was also a great experience with constant updates and our pups in good care. Highly Recommend.

These folks are absolutely OUTSTANDING! I feel so fortunate to have found them to take care of my kitty cat when I leave town for work or personal travel. The office staff is professional, courteous and highly responsive. The cat-sitter, Sarah, is extremely sweet and does a wonderful job keeping in contact while visiting my apartment. I would recommend this company to anyone-- it's been a five star experience every time. Thank you!

Absolutely fantastic service. I was so nervous to travel and I have never left my cats at home and the two sitters who took care of them twice a day were incredible! I cannot recommend more. They provided updates and photos of my babies every time they visited as well as a list of the things they did. One of my cats is very shy and was scared to come out or eat the first few days and they communicated back and forth taking my suggestions and ideas. After those first few days it seemed Sarah had it down to a science. My shy kitty was eating all her food in the 15 mins that I scheduled twice a day. I came home to a clean liter a vacuumed apartment and two very happy kitties. The special diet one of them is one was given proper attention and I was free to be present on my time away, not worried since I saw their happy, silly faces everyday ensuring they were just fine. They even watered the plants and brought in all the mail. Once again, so happy with the service and I will book them again in a heartbeat!

Love this service! They are all so friendly. My pup has really enjoyed his walks. And the updates after his walks are greatly appreciated. Easy to schedule as well. I HIGHLY recommend!

I booked Hot Diggity to come take care of my cat while I was away. The first visit went fine, with only the litter box being missed. But we got a cute pic and felt things were fine. So I booked a second appointment. That's where things took a turn. The sitter left my house and didn't properly shut the front door, causing the auto-lock to jam and fail to lock the door. I was not told about this, only found out when I went to check my app. I contacted the company the next morning explaining what happened, and the sent the person back to check the door. This time she closed it properly and locked it, as my app informed me. After fixing the mistake, they sent me a message saying they wanted $15 for a "security check" and that they believe their employee locked the door properly the first time. They proceeded to explain to me how my own lock works, relying on speculation to determine that everything was fine. When I replied that I would not pay the $15 because they hadn't locked the door properly and needed to fix their own mistake, I got a long-winded response which devoted only one short sentence to apologizing. The rest of the message was about how they believe the employee (which is fine, that's not what I have a problem with) and that my lock was definitely secured properly (no evidence, but hey). They then pointed to the fact that their sitter had marked on the report card "home secured" as further proof that the door had locked successfully (what??). At the end of the day, companies like Hot Diggity are not only responsible for our pets, they're also responsible for making sure we can entrust our home to them unsupervised. That's very different from taking your pet to a pet hotel. If something goes wrong, it's my entire house and everything in it that's at risk. Based on the responses I got from them, they clearly don't understand that concept, despite claiming “peace of mind” in their marketing. I don't mind mistakes, I mind not owning them. If you want to bring a company into your home unsupervised that will blame you, your locks, your phone, whatever they can think of, rather than accepting responsibility (and all over $15!!!), then Hot Diggity is the place for you.

Hot Diggity is absolutely fantastic! You can set up the schedules you need for them to come by, and specific instructions for each of your pets. Not only do they follow everything to the letter, but they take wonderful pictures on every visit! They also send detailed emails every visit on how things went. There’s no doubt that they love and take care of all of your fur babies.

Absolutely the best! I have an older dog with some complex medical needs and they take care of her perfectly, with excellent communication. I love the emails and pictures! I know that my dog is getting excellent care and I don't have to worry because of the clear communication. They have gone above and beyond for us - including when I accidentally left the wrong key and was out of town on New Year's Eve! I am very happy to have found such a reliable and caring service and will be sorry if we ever leave Portland and our trusted dog care family.

High-quality and comprehensive pet care. Hot Diggity's pet sitters are lovely people who did a great job taking care of my cat and residence while on vacation. It was like I never left. Each visit my cat got his food, medicine, and lots of loving attention. The post-visit updates via text/email made me feel at ease and that everything was being taken care of. I discovered that my very anxious fur baby loves to run. I wasn't sure what I was going to do because I don't run. I decided to give Hot Diggity a try and we have never looked back. Tipper enjoys every person he has ever had. Running, hiking....he loves it all and his people love him! They are patient and kind and send great pictures. They also love on Luna, the little one, when they get back. Give them a try if you are even considering having a human come be with your fur babies...you won't be sorry!

When I originally started using Hot Diggity, things were really great. When I left for two weeks, I thought my kitties would be in good hands. I had purchased extra litter in preparation but, when I came home, there was hardly any litter in the box and the new container was left unopened. Half my plants were dead and my cats were stressed. I didn’t feel comfortable with just an apology and a promise that they would put a note on my file so I decided to no longer use their services. Original Review: I travel a lot for work and have two kitties that need someone to check on them every few days. Hot Diggity! has been very reliable and there when I need them even when it's a last minute "my trip is going over can you please stop by?" They even made sure that my cats were comfortable with them when they were sick and needed their medicine. They are extremely open to feedback and handling the quarks of two inquisitive and mischievous cats. I feel at ease knowing they are checking in on my little ones while I'm gone.

We have used Hot Diggity for about 1 year now and we are very happy we found them! They have great, highly trained, super professional, and friendly staff. We have had them for drop in visits and we have also had them stay in house for pet sitting. Both services have been great and we have no complaints. They have offered me great peace of mind knowing my animals are in good, trustworthy hands.

I am often out of town for work and family. I love that the same person takes care of my two cats and that I get daily photos and a little update about them. It helps me feel secure that someone is checking on my house as well. Would highly recommend them!

Jill, the owner, is super responsive, she set us up with a meet and greet with our dog sitters right away, the sitters are friendly and reassuring, and the app is totally intuitive and easy to use! I've used Hot Diggity several times to take care of my cat when I'm away. They're easy to schedule with and do a great job.

After having recently had surgery to replace both hips, I needed help walking my dog Fred. For over a year Licia at Hot Diggity faithfully showed 3 times a week to walk my best friend. Myself, Fred and 2 kittens fell in love and so Licia became one of the family. The service has been a godsend. It is good to know Hot Diggity is there if I need them for walks, vet visits, even overnight stays. The lines of communication are good and the service very dependable and trustworthy. I am slow to trust anyone with my dog and all walkers we had demonstrated love and care for animals. I also felt comfortable having them in my home. I do not hesitate to highly recommend Hot Diggity.

Their website said they were able to pet sit in Sherwood and then they told us they were not able to go to Sherwood. Very misleading. They finally wrote us back and said we are sorry and we will have our IT bring that city down. If they were a good business they could have made an exception and watch our dogs since it was their mistake.

Hot Diggity Dog is an incredibly pet sitting service. I work in the pet industry & their attention to detail & care is unparalleled. The online service & consistent communication is wonderful. We have 8 pets in total in our family & often are fostering pets. Hot Diggity always handles this with ease & puts our anxiety to rest when they watch our pets. They are obviously avid animal lovers & their team is always amazing. I can tell by the way my pets react to all of them that they are excellent people who know what they are doing when it comes to pet care. Their prices are INCREDIBLY affordable considering how wonderful their service is & it is absolutely amazing that they do not charge per pet. It feels wonderful to be able to leave for holidays, trips & vacations knowing that Hot Diggity has our back. It's also so nice we have trustworthy people staying in our home while we are away, as that can be a bit of a leap of faith at first! We are very over-protective of our pets & completely trust Hot Diggity Dog! You should too.

I want to say thank you! I had an unexpected death in the family and had to travel across country the same day. Within 1 hour they had me set up for overnight and day visits. This was around Thanksgiving too. Michele stayed at my house and was beyond amazing!!! I came home to two happy pups, a clean house and flowers for condolences. Awesome person and easy company to work with!
