We sought them out because we had worked with Dr. Felton at another office before opening Grateful Heart and she was so sweet with our pets. She also always took her time with answering questions and going into more detail and embodies someone who loves their profession. It was totally worth waiting several months to get the first appointment and establish care and we've been so well taken care of since. Before we even had that first appointment, I let them know our cat had passed away as some of the staff may have remembered him. They not only sent us a touching card signed by everyone with flower seeds to plant for him, they made a donation and we were able to setup a memorial remembrance page and fund through OSU. It was just really special that before we even gave them a dime, they invested time, energy, love, and money to us with no expectation (a true gift). We got a new puppy and were able to get scheduled with Dr. Felton before she needed her last round of shots. They have a great smooth system going there and it's a really lovely, modern office. Dr. Felton was just as awesome as we remembered and was genuinely excited to meet our sweet pup. Even more impressive though was that just a few weeks later when we thought she ate a poisonous mushroom, I was able to call and speak to a tech and get an answer right away about how to handle it! No appointment or wait, just immediate helpful service that reassured us before we ended up trying to make her throw up (she was fine!)! It was the same story a few weeks ago when we had concerns and were able to get some suggestions right away. She wasn't improving and we checked on any appointment availability and were able to get an appointment within a day with Dr. Ault (also great). What a relief and no added emergency charges. Finally we wanted to get some x-rays to rule out anything major going on and they literally got us in the day before they closed for the holiday weekend. While we didn't get a clear answer on what caused her to have digestive issues, we were able to rule out major problems and that was what was important. We continued the treatment and meds we were given and she's back to normal. We got attentive care and follow up and we are so appreciative. We are in good hands and so lucky to be a patient here! Dr. Felton, Alex, and Amber (and the whole team whose names escape me right now) are truly some of the most incredible human beings we’ve ever been lucky to meet. We have two dogs that have very different personalities and needs, both that are typically extremely wary and anxious when going to the vet. My bulldog, Fynnah, completely relaxed around Dr. Felton. Alex and Amber have also being so supportive and helpful while my partner Jess and I navigate cancer treatment for our other dog, Stella. We seriously don’t know where we would be without the support we have received from this team and feel seen as people who care about the quality of life for our old dogs. I can go on and on about these folks but they are truly a cut above the rest. Thank you for all you do!

It’s hard to put into words what Dr. Felton and her team mean to me. Dr. Felton has been my veterinarian for almost 10 years, and has helped me navigate some difficult situations with my cats. She leads with her heart and always takes the time to help you understand what is going on with your pet. Her patience astounds me. I know there have been times it probably would have been easier to rush me along, but instead, she listens and allows me to express every concern or question I may have. She is one of, if not, the most compassionate person I have ever met. The team at Grateful Heart are equally kind and knowledgeable, and are a true representation of Dr. Felton and her style of care. Dr. Felton is an extremely compassionate vet and my animals love her…but more importantly, she is up to date on the latest medical treatments and takes the comfort and pain control of animals seriously. We drive a long way and past lots of other vets to make sure our pets get the best care.

Dr. Katy and her husband are the best people to bring your pet babies to! They really care about their clients and love on your fur babies! Dr. Katy explains everything thoroughly and really takes the time to address your concerns. Everyone at grateful heart just seem so caring and lovely!

Beat vet in Portland, hands down. We absolutely love Dr Felton. She has taken such great care of our two cats. It is clear that she truly loves animals and is invested in doing a thorough and thoughtful job. The rest of the staff is friendly and kind. Could not recommend more!

BEST veterinary ???????????? All are kind, understanding and treat our furry babies with care ???? they are truly dedicated to our pets. Having a strong "personality" doggie, they all were amazingly caring, non judgemental and helpful from the 1st visit to the last day when my 4-legged baby crossed the ???? bridge.

So happy we found these folks, they came highly recommended from an emergency vet that we unfortunately had to see. We have a geriatric cat that has required a lot of care this past year. In this cat's 18 years of life we have seen many vets, Dr Felton and team are by far the best of the best. Reasonable, thoughtful and responsive. Dr Felton takes a great deal of time to explain what's going on and lay out options. Expectations exceeded, cannot recommend enough.

Very disappointed they are not able to help during pet emergencies or serious problems.

THE best vet in town, no questions asked. So compassionate. So helpful. And doesn’t break the bank! Dr. Katy Felton and her team always take their time to talk through any and all details about your little furry one and deliver the best care I’ve ever seen. I cannot recommend them enough!!

I cannot begin to express how wonderful Grateful Heart is. After moving 3,500 milestone Portland with our two miniature schnauzers, one that is blind, we were anxious to find a vet they would feel comfortable at. From our first appointment (pre-COVID) Dr Katy sat in the floor to meet them and gave them toys to take home. I knew this was a special place right from the get go. Both of our dogs were obsessed with going here and would howl in excitement if they knew that is where they were headed. Sadly, our little guy developed aggressive lymphoma and had to go to forever sleep earlier this month. Dr Katy and Mr Alex made us feel like family and took the time to make our little guys going away a special occasion and were just as heartbroken as we were. As hard as it has been without him here we’re glad he got to spend his final moments here as he loved them. Several days after his passing we received a sympathy card which really hit home and shows just how much the staff here cares. We cannot recommend Grateful Heart enough. Here your pets are more than furry friends, they’re family.

Wonderful people! Just played with our doggie until she was comfortable. Alittle pricey to do a spay with but for any emergency or Routine appointments I’ll be sure to make an appointment with these guys. My dog pulls to the door when we walk past this place. Cant beat that!

Is Dr. Felton the best vet ever? Yes. She is the incredibly kind, very personable, and loves animals (all animals - she's vegan!)! I'm so happy that my sweet baby boy Paddy gets to have such a wonderful doctor.

I've been taking my pets to see Dr Katy for 11 years. She is the kindest, most compassionate vet I've ever met. She takes time to get to know every animal in her care. She's patient and loving with my nervous Lab. She's even nice to my cat Milhouse, who is undoubtedly GHVH's worst patient! She has a great team around her as well. I live in SE but followed Dr Katy to her new hospital. I wouldn't dream of seeing another vet!

WOW!! finally.. after 7 years I’ve found a compassionate and caring vet for my adventure cat Rumi. I asked my fellow shelter volunteers who they recommended in Portland after all of my previous vets threw their hands in the air with my anxious-at-the-vet guy. (My last vet refused to see him again unless he was completely sedated ????) EVERYONE suggested Dr Katy ???? We had our first visit yesterday, and while I wasn’t able to go in with him, I felt confident he was in good hands. Dr Katy called me and we had a very thorough conversation about Rumi. She told me every detail about the exam and how he responded. I was so relieved they went above and beyond to minimize his stress and anxiety. This was the first time I felt like my voice mattered, and I was being heard!! It felt like we were collaborating together on the same page for next course of actions. I loved that!! I feel like I could write a novel about how wonderful this place is.. thank you thank you thank you GHV for taking such good care of my sweet guy!!!!

Dr. Katy and staff are the best! They ALL care and answer every question you could ever have. My pups are nervous sometimes around new people and places. They took the time to let them calm and used different methods to achieve this. Great vet! I highly recommend coming here.
