We’ve been taking our cats to City Pets Vet for more than 4 years. We particularly like the Vet assistant Jen who always takes care of our two cats. She is always nice, attentive and professional.

I chose City Pets because they are close to home and had decent enough reviews, I work from home so it was perfect because our recently adopted dog needed a lot of work—vaccinations, parasite tests, fixing. The vet techs I’ve spoken to were absolutely wonderful and they’re the reason I gave the place 3 stars at all. I can’t say the same for their vets. My dog has very severe separation anxiety and their only solution was to “exercise him more” and to send me home with two types of sedatives that do nothing for the him. We’re not first time dog owners and have a high energy breed so we account for his energy level perfectly well and know his anxiety is much more deeply rooted than just a few extra walks can fix. We do give him sedatives for any appointment involving a needle to keep the vet techs safe—however I got told from one vet tech that he needed sedatives after a non-bloodwork appointment because he was, “barking and whining a lot.” You know, like how a nervous dog does in a scary place with strangers. On top of that, the vet went on to talk AT ME for about 10 minutes almost completely glossing over the issue we came there for in order to upsell expensive flea and heart worm medication saying the kind we use, “doesn’t work” (which is very odd considering my dog has neither fleas, ticks nor heart worms) AND MORE SEDATIVES AFTER I TOLD THEM WE HAD PLENTY AT HOME. They will push you into medication you don’t need and I am sorry I let myself be talked into hundreds of dollars of useless meds. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere that will truly listen to your concerns even if they don’t end in a $300+ bill every time.

My daughter had brought out kittens there to be taken care of to be told so much wrong information .. she had paid for a ear cleaning for the kittens having ear mites to my daughter bringing them home with dirty ears still not as bad but there was still a lot of dirt. This place gives false information they need to get there staff together!! Never again will I allow my daughter to come back.

I brought my two cats here for several years and was very happy. Sadly, a stray cat I took in 6 months ago fell ill very quickly and needed to be put down. I think it’s extremely unfortunate that they are choosing not to allow people to come in to be with their pet when the animal needs to be put down. OSHA, OHA and the governor’s executive order during the pandemic all allow veterinary facilities to let owners in the building to accompany their animal for euthanasia, and for two other specified reasons. I mentioned this to them, and that I have been fully vaccinated and am happy to double mask, and they told me they still wouldn’t allow me in. How is that compassionate? There’s no way I would hand my pet off to a stranger to cross the Rainbow Bridge without me there. I doubt any of the people who work there would either. I will never go to City Pets Vet again. Other veterinarians allow owners to be with their animal family member during their last moments. I hope City Pets reconsiders this confusing and ridiculous policy.

Our worst experience ever - do NOT recommend. Their whole 'fear free' strategy was anything but for my dog. In my opinion, the absolute lack of regard they showed for my dog, his safety, and his wellbeing was just offensive and unacceptable. Their response to my VERY long email voicing those thoughts was responded to with this: "We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your visit to our clinic." The end. No explanations, no telling me they will take this feedback and try to improve or learn from the experience - just NOTHING. We will NEVER go back to this clinic.

Fine, professional help. However I feel that they try to upsell you on unecessary things. Just be cautious & think about what you really need. Know that it is ok to say no to things they suggest, especially expensive tests & medications.

Brought our Doberman and a former roommate’s cat in recently for routine check ups and vaccinations, highly disappointed we chose this establishment. Upon arrival, it was not clear on why the door was locked and several techs were near the glass just watching us in confusion when we had an appt. We had no previous email with clear instructions and no actual human to come forward and give us direction on how we were to hand off our pets. A simple “make sure to check out our website for COVID related instructions for our facility” when we made the appt would have been nice. We stood out in the rain in confusion for ~10 minutes while awkwardly trying to get anyone’s attention. Finally we have a phone call and they acted very surprised to know we had arrived. Eye roll. Fast forward to our Doberman’s boarding facility reaching out that she didn’t have all of her vaccinations and she’ll need them before we board her again in a few weeks. Called City Pets and of course, they acted like we were to know to bring her back and that she only received a booster. Silly us, how were we to know without ANY advisement? Seriously, what veterinary doesn’t give a follow up call regarding patients? We had no follow up emails or calls, or even an invoice to indicate what I had paid $362 for. But we sure do have coupon emails from them. I don’t exactly feel safe going forward to have our dog’s life in their care.

When I adopted my dog two years ago I was very happy this vet was so close in my neighborhood. They are excellent and so caring. You can feel how much they genuinely care about your pet and their health. My dog and I are very pleased with their service.

Exploitative. Quoted me at $2,000 for a procedure I had done at another vet for $450.

I am so relieved I found this vet. I had an emergency where I needed an exam for my ESA dog in order to fly and obtain a health certificate for the airline. My current vet gave push back for three days which led me to have only 2 days left before flying. Timing was of the extreme essence. They fit me in on the same day and did a curbside pickup due to co-vid. They performed a thorough exam and provided my certificate. I was having the worst day. Even my phone battery was at 2% as I was speaking with them but they were so gracious and professional and worked with my shortcomings. I loved the veterinarian - she was so kind and loving to my pup. I am so utterly grateful for them that I will be leaving my current vet and switching to City Pets once I return. Thank you!!

City pets vet is really wonderful. Our cat has a difficult time at the vet but the team at city pets vet put in a lot of effort and tried a lot of strategies to help her appointments go more smoothly. City pets provides excellent care and they really care about all the animals they see.

We're so glad we chose City Pet Vet for our French Bulldog Simone. The staff love him as much as we do, and they're so careful with him (he gets anxiety when we take him). He gets lots of pets and treats, and work with the vets to give him monthly injections to help curb his allergies. The main reason I'm writing this though is because one weekend Simone was stung by a bee and had a severe allergic reaction. City Pets Vet made room for us and watched him for 3 hours to make sure he was going to be ok. Simone has made a full recovery, and I attribute it to the hardworking people here. I recommend this place over and over again.

City Pets gave egregiously incorrect info, was rude and unprofessional, and I was forced to walk out with my pet. Called two separate times to confirm an initial appointment for my kitten. Was told that they neuter, vaccinate, and microchip at 8 weeks old. Was also told that they do accept the insurance I have and take care of contacting the insurance company for a reimbursement. Appointment day comes and I fasted the kitten for 12 hours before the surgery as I'd seen in my research. Arriving at the clinic I learn that they do not neuter, vaccinate, or microchip until 6 months old. They also do not deal with the insurance companies at all, and it's up to me to deal with it. So basically everything I had been told by the receptionist (two separate times) was wrong. According to the tech I talked to on the day the only thing they were planning on doing at that appointment was looking in the cat's ears and weighing him (and then probably trying to up-sell me on overpriced cat food, flea medication, and other things I already have, but to be fair that seems to be all vets in my experience). There was no apology, rather "I'm sorry you misunderstood" and someone snapping "We don't do insurance." I didn't misunderstand, the vet gave me the wrong info and refused to take any ownership. It's fine if they wait until 6 months to really do anything, and it's fine if they don't take insurance- my point is that they gave me mega wrong information about pretty routine/basic pet things, and then became rude and defensive about it. It wasn't going to be a very expensive appointment, that wasn't the issue, I had just lost confidence in them. In the end, mainly the cat is hurt and confused: his first fasting for 12+ hours, went on his first car trip (that he likely remembers, at least) and freaked out, and waited outside the vet next to a major road for 20 minutes with us in his kennel, none of which he understood, and all of which was for nothing. Would not recommend. Lots of other options out there.

We just got our first pet in a long time and chose City Pets Vet on Division St. because after calling around to 4 other vets in the area, they were very knowledgeable, kind AND the most affordable! Even during COVID-19 when no one could enter the clinic, their communication was excellent and I felt the love they had for our little guy. I feel so lucky to have them right around the corner - we’ll certainly continue to trust them with all our animal care.

Dr Hurn and her team are so kind and patient with my dog Arthur and they are great at communicating cost and options up front. They are very gentle with my pup and he's always at ease in the clinic. I also appreciate all the precautions they've taken during COVID to keep everyone (and every pet) safe.

City Pets Vet are the best! They have been so friendly and helpful, while still being super safe during these crazy times. I am thankful that I found them and would recommend them to anyone who has a furry friend. ????????

My son had been taking his dog to City Pets Vet for two years. On one occasion during that time I was taking care of Kali when she lost a toenail. There was blood everywhere and I couldn't tell where on her foot it was coming from. I wrapped it in a towel and called the Vet! They let me bring her right in, did a small surgery to clean up the tear, and explained everything I needed to do for the next few days in words I could understand. All my questions got answered and Kali was still in love with everyone who had helped her when we left. So of course when I adopted my small rescue dog this month, in the middle of COVID-19 shelter-in-place, I called City Pets Vet for Cooper's first exam. Even with all the restrictions, Jennifer, Jen, and Dr. Gilmartin had a seamless system worked out to care for my dog. Thanks go to the whole team.

I've been taking my cat to City Pets Vet since January. I've been very satisfied with their service. It's always easy to get an appointment and I've managed to get next-day or same week appointments every time. They are also very transparent about how much things will cost. They are honest with you about what needs to be done, what they recommend to be done, or what isn't entirely necessary or can wait and they get your approval for everything individually. I also appreciate the steps they have taken to ensure everyone's safety during COVID-19. Even though I don't get to be in the room with the vet, I still feel well informed and like they are taking the best care of my cat.

I had a great experience here. Even during COVID where I had to wait in my car, I felt that they were taking good care of my cat. The prices are fair and the service is wonderful. The doctor fully explained everything and answered all of my questions.

I took my new kittens Debbie and Jeffrey Duane to City Pets Vet for their first vet visit. Got rid of nasty fleas, got Giardia meds, started immunizations. Kittens now back to demolishing my home. Good!

Everyone is so kind and dedicated to taking good care of my dog. They go above and beyond. Really appreciate it, especially when dealing with medical problems not just well checks and vaccines.

My dog, Harriet, loves everyone at City Pets Vet - her excitement level skyrockets when we walk through the door! Everyone who works here is wonderful, from the front desk staff to the techs and veterinarians. I've seen 2-3 different doctors over the past two years and they're all wonderful. Dr. Greene has been our most-visited doctor and she's thorough, knowledgable and well-spoken. I definitely recommend City Pets Vet!

I spent a lot of time here, with a very old and sick pet. Everyone is so compassionate and gentle. Dr. Green was very knowledgeable and thorough, and gave realistic expectations regarding treatment options. I'm so glad to have found this vet!

We just had our first couple of visits at City Pets Vet and they were great. They staff are very kind and knowledgeable. My dog hates going to the vet and they were very patient and helpful with getting him the treatment that he needed while keeping him as comfortable as possible. He had a checkup and several vaccinations and had blood drawn and it was all done with him on the floor which is much more comfortable for him, though it meant that the vet, techs and I were also on the floor :)
