Cats in The City Portland, Washington

I just picked up my two kitties from boarding with Cats in the City for 10 nights. We found that the communication style, especially for a facility at this price point, was not for us. We understood we would receive one MeowMessage per day but were not expecting these messages to be so generic and lack any personalization at all. We ended up paying an extra fee for two days just to receive a couple of photos and a blurb about what our cats were doing. While the photos online look nice and our cats seemed happy, we just weren't provided the information to make the judgement for ourselves. We're not sure if we would board here again if the communication policies remain.

Wonderful and friendly staff! We really appreciate how they give verbal feedback on how our cat's service went and also email a report. Our kitty always comes home happy and pampered. We love Cats In The City!

My cat is very shy and nervous and hates any disruption to his routine. I live at least 30 miles away from cats in the city ????️ but it's worth it to me to have him taken care of properly while I'm away. They love cats & take good care of them.

They were well organized & efficient. They did a wonderful job. Although I'll never subject kitty to a lion cut again (he was so miserable), I didn't realize how effected he be by it. They did a great job with all the services he received, I will bring him back in the future.

We have used their pet sitting services twice now. Dan has been fantastic with updates and catering to our kittens individual needs (one is very shy and the other is very outgoing). It's been nice having piece of mind knowing that the kids and home are looked after. Thanks Dan! ????

Such a nice job, both in explaining every detail of the stay and also the groom itself. My extremely nervous kitten came home totally calm. I think that says a lot.

I took my cat here for grooming, which included nail trimming, a lion cut, and teeth cleaning. They did a great job. They also have a nice boarding set up.

My very anxious kitty Winston was getting all these mats in his hair in the heat. I cut them out and he looked terrible! Cats in the City communicated perfectly, groomed him in the CUTEST lion cut, and even dropped him home and inside my house while I was out. I can't recommend them all highly enough!!

Professional, high quality cat grooming. My cat was very calm afterwards and did not act skittish, scared or freaked out in any way.

My cat gets very overheated in the summer because of her thick coat so I brought her here for a lion shave. It was a little on the expensive side ($180) but they did do a really good job and they were super professional.

My Birman was so matted and won't let me groom him. Cat's gave him a lion cut, and he's so much happier. Was pretty spendy,but absolutely necessary.

Just a few doors south of Glisan (pronounced "glisten") on SE 80th Ave. Once there, leave the pre carrier on the porch and knock or ring the doorbell. Friendly greeter/intake person confirmed the services our cat is going to receive before calculating the total price. Interesting that they also have boarding service. Courtesy notices go out to the cat's human to allow for travel to return home.

The best place I have ever boarded a pet! I highly recommend them!

They did a great job grooming our little floofball. They were able to get all her mats without shaving her. Their handling of pandemic precautions was also very stellar. Thanks a bunch!

Miscommunication led to a not so nice cut for my cat. I called to complain and was absolutely brushed off by Owner (Shawn) and was told he didn’t need my business. It made me feel like my opinions didn’t matter and that I just wasted $250. Not only was I left with a cat that had her beautiful mane chopped off but also had to find somewhere else to go. I felt just terrible. Then I got a call from the groomer himself (Dan). He apologized to me and explained to me what happened. He made me feel understood and knew where I was coming from. Just this nice gesture alone made me feel comfortable with taking her back to this business again. Mistakes happen but how we choose to react to it says more. I’ve had a total of 2 cuts here and the first was good and the 2nd not so much (for obvious reasons). All in all, your pet will be taken good care of but watch out for the Owner’s attitude. Never let him feel like your worries aren’t worth it.

Just needed a nail trim for my ancient and frail cat. These folks were prompt, friendly, gentle, and reasonably priced. I was out of there in 10 minutes.

My fur babies always come out a pound lighter (long-haired) and smelling great! They never seem distraught after their visit like they do after coming home from the vet. Highly recommend Cats in the City.

We boarded our cats here during the recent wildfire evacuation. The staff were amazing, courteous and compassionate. Our cats were well cared for for a reasonable price. Mickey and Minnie will be back! Thank you.

This is my second time brining my big baby Periwinkle and each experience has been perfect. They're so thoughtful and always make sure to tell you how their appointment went. If you have a cat that needs grooming and you've been wondering where to take your kitty, being them here.

They always treat my Persians wonderfully and they come home fluffy and clean. Just a tad spendy

Great staff. They took care of my very stressed out kitty very well. I was thoroughly impressed and will be recommending them to others and using them again! I was able to call to get updates and they texted or called me to let me know how she was doing as well.

Our cat had the works today. They came down to the car and carried him in. They brought him back to the car when I picked him up. He looks like a new cat. Great job.

Kitty got trapped in the crawlspace overnight and was so filthy that I decided to give Elaine her first bath. I sent a text per the website instructions and received an immediate response and was able to bring Elaine in the next day. I never thought I’d spend $100 to bathe a cat but it’s well worth it! The staff was friendly and communicative. Highly recommend!
