Monday morning at 2am our world stopped and our 1.5 year old French Bulldog started to rapidly lose feeling in his back legs and was in so much pain. We rushed him to the team at Boundary Bay where we found out he needed emergency back surgery and I must say that they are absolutely amazing from top to bottom. The knowledge of the staff and love they showed our boy Cash made this so much more bearable for us. The surgeon was so great he eased minds and did such an amazing job with cash. Cash is now home and doing great. I cannot thank all of you enough for everything you have done for cash and ourselves. If I could give 100 stars I would !!! Thank you thank you thank you !

We had to bring our puppy Debbie to Boundary Bay at the advice of the vet we saw on Christmas Eve that said she needed access to specialists. This was the last thing we felt our family needed with a very recent unrelated trauma. The staff at BBVSH were absolutely next level, working tirelessly through the holidays while all our vets are of course closed, not once did I feel like I was an inconvenience to them. Every single person I spoke to was so friendly and caring. They even sent us photos on Christmas morning of her all dressed up for the festivity. Every person we came in contact with was here for the right reasons and they truly care about your pets well being. They do a great job of explaining everything in layman's terms I couldn't feel an eyeroll behind the phone from anyone to my million questions. The moment the vet spoke to me and gathered some history she had a hunch of what was going on (and my google PhD very much agrees). It sounds like we have a long road ahead of us but they've already set us up with a specialist appointment for January and I'm very certain our puppy is in the absolute best care available. Thank you so much to all the staff at BBVSH for making an emergency visit (over Christmas none the less) as warm of an experience as possible.

In Oct I had to rush my dog to Boundary Bay. I just need to thank the staff that took care of the phone calls, directions, meeting us at the door, the call no pet owner needs to get (We had to put our Big boy down) how patient and understand and kind everyone was. The time they gave us to spend with our dog to say goodbye and checking on us. The Dr. who came in and got down on her hands and knees to administer the medication well I held my dog (he is big so he pretty much was laying on me and then his head on my shoulder) to make sure he knew how loved he was and there was no other choice and how sorry I was but he wouldn't be in pain anymore. What you guys do and how you carry yourself is beautiful. I thank you for everything you did for Oden and my family in a time like this.

My dog Bella was recently diagnosed with cancer. To find out your beloved companion has cancer is devastating. It is also so full of ups and downs. Recently I rushed my dog to ER due to odd behaviour and the fact she may have a bleeding mass. The staff were so amazing. They were patient, kind, compassionate and caring. Dr White was amazing and provided my dog the best care. She kept me informed and eased my fears. I can’t remember everyone’s name but all the other staff caring for her were exceptional too. Thank you to Dr Robinson for speaking to me while Dr Herrera was away. Letting me know what may be going on. As well, to Dr Herrera thank you so much for giving my girl a fighting chance. I have hope and trust I am getting the best care and treatment for beautiful girl Bella. Thank you to all the staff at Boundary Bay.

Took my dog in under an emergency and was met with the friendliest, genuine and professional staff possible. Couldn’t be more nervous with the him being so so scary sick and trying a new place not knowing anything about them. With the vet “stereotype” this can be scary but I’ve never felt so confident and trusting in a clinic before. My dog is back to normal, they broke down cost in such a way where I didn’t feel pressured or guilted into what I needed to do. Obviously he’s my furrbaby and I’d sell my soul and then some to have him healthy and forever so cost isn’t an issue or even a question but not feeling pressured was super helpful during my panic and allowed me to think more clearly. Couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who worked there. My dog is back to his usual pep and I’m so relieved.

Called them for a harness for my dog, confirmed they had it in stock, confirmed the price, told him I was driving in from Vancouver, arrived, price was more than double, seemed like a bait and switch.

I am very disappointed with my experience at boundary bay hospital. My complaints with the over night staff and the doctor. I arrived at the hospital at 12am this morning. My cat needed a laceration repair. After speaking to the doctor about what route we’re going to take and my financial issues and she quoted me my bill would be a total of $250-300. She then called me about an hour or so later and said my cat would be good to go in 20 minutes. That ended up being an hour and half. When I called in between the overnight office staff showed me a lot of attitude. Dr Ashton called me at 2:45am to pick up my cat in 20. I called 40 minutes later, they said they were in the middle of wrapping up her arm. I call 15 minutes later and one assistant was confused and the other had attitude saying “I just talked to you 5 minutes ago” and that my “cats not ready we have other animals that need triaging”. Very confusing since they said she was already getting wrapped. The bill was doubled to $540 without my knowledge. They said the initial pain meds they gave her around 2am would last until 9-10am. Apparently they had to administer more pain medication by 4am without my consent which ended up being an additional cost of $240-$290. The office staff showed much attitude. Nothing they said made sense. I called them out on these changes. I asked for a receipt. They did come outside with the receipt lowered by $115 with no explanation. Very sad to experience this while your worried about your pet. Owners beware.

If it wasn't for all the hard working staff at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital we wouldn't have our sweet baby Mollee. What started as a little bump on her paw we first thought was a sliver, after having it removed we were told it was cancer.... our worst fear. The staff quickly reassured us they would do everything they can to keep our little girl with us. Found out it hadn't spread.. phewf! Next was to find out how to get it all removed while hoping to keep her leg. They were able to reconstructive surgery! With a little rearranging of paw pads she was able to keep her leg... YAY!! She's also been getting a vaccine that we hope will help it not to come back in the future from the oncology department. Our dogs are our children and we felt everyone there treated her that way too. We cannot thank all of the staff enough, you literally took the worst time in our lives and made it more bearable. Mollee just finished her last shot for 6 months, they sent her away with a little bandana, toy and a certificate which of course made me tear up. THANK YOU to all Boundary Bay staff we are forever grateful!

Had to take my dog in as she was a great deal of pain and GI issues. They were very professional and courteous and managed to fit me in quickly on a Friday night when other locations were unable to take us in. Dr. Jill Thatcher was very informative and updated me with the potential plan before proceeding. She also had clear discharge instructions, given verbally and via a printout. I recommend them to anyone and will be going there for future needs.

We received care for our French Bulldog Stella who ended up having a brain tumour. It was devastating news for us, but the compassion and understanding that Dr. Drury and the whole team had for us was immeasurable. They guided us through the process, explaining and listening to us all the way through our journey...... Thank you so much I highly recommend this hospital for any of the services they provide, in addition to all of the above, they were able to assess and help Stella with her pain quickly as they have all of the necessary equipment on site. Thank you to the whole team at Langley Boundary Bay Veterinary Hospital we truly appreciate how you handled everything in our time of grief.

The most horrific experience. Dog had partial tarsal arthrodesis in July due to injury. Surgery went well as per surgeon. Day 10 dressing changed at Boundary Bay, sutures removed. I was told that incision appeared healed but she had small sore on her paw. Day 13 I took dressing off to change it, incision was infected with bone and plate visible and deep tissue necrosis to her paw. Antibiotics and dressing changes daily, the wound was healing slowly until the plate broke the bone, informed the surgeon, agreed to remove the plate, post 2nd surgery in October incision healed except open area which was getting more open until i could see the sharp edge of the bone, removed the bone with sharp edges, within a week wound healed. The dog is not weight bearing and never was since 1st surgery, perhaps never will. I rarely write reviews but in this case I had too, to worn others that want the best for their dogs but could end up with more problems. I trusted reputation of the clinic.

It was so refreshing to go to an emergency vet that wasn't just interested in taking my money. Came here after our dog was experiencing pain. We felt like we were in great hands the entire time. Got the sense that they genuinely cared about my dog and they gave us a very detailed report of the visit. In addition, they made sure to follow up with us a couple of times after. Thank you ❤

Unfortunately we got the news after 2 weeks of appointments and tests that our beautiful dog Stoli (turning 5 next month) was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was incredibly heart wrenching to hear that news, especially to hear that chemotherapy rarely helps with this type of cancer and we'd be best to just enjoy our last few days with our sweet boy (the median life expectancy after diagnoses was 9 days, and he had no prior health problems). Of course myself and my entire family had many questions, and my brother who was the one who got the awful phone call about his diagnosis was in shock and couldn't remember much about what the oncologist had told him. Our entire family is so grateful for the emergency staff and the way they handled our sweet boy and were able to get the result we had been waiting for for so long, unfortunately they were not what we wanted to hear. But we are grateful for the work & the attention given to him (Thank you Dr.Ashton). Although we became quite unimpressed when we asked if we (my family) could speak to the oncologist who had originally just spoken to my brother, to go over his results again and just explain to us the chances of survival and if there was absolutely anything else we could do to save his life. Dr.Herrera (the oncologist) was short on the phone and sounded quite annoyed by our questions, even once saying "I'm pretty sure I've already answered these questions". We were all in shock over the thought of losing our sweet dog and it felt like she couldn't even give us 15 minutes of her time. There was no condolences, and no compassion when our family needed it the most. I am not saying that her work was bad or she did anything medically wrong, but the bedside manner of dealing with a family who is losing their baby needs to be worked on. Our hopes is by reading this there is a change in the way she communicates with families who are going through this awful process of knowing their pet who just a month before was hiking everyday and playing in the ocean, will no longer be apart of their lives in a few days. Its a subject that should be handled with compassion. We had to say goodbye to our sweet boy this past week and it was one of the hardest things anyone in my family has experienced. I wish I had a more positive review to write about our interaction.

Wonderful team and advanced, well-equipped facilities. Your pet will be in excellent hands at BBVSH if they are ever in need of emergency or specialty care. Can't recommend enough.

They had me wait 4 hours in their parking lot while they let my dog bleed in a kennel. I finally told them to give me my dog back after they still hadn’t looked at her 4 hours later. My previous dog was treated there for Cancer in 2013 and it was a very different place at that time. This place is obviously poorly run now and I would not take any animal there for an emergency!

Fantastic team! Our dog needed a CT scan and emergency surgery and they were absolutely awesome. They kept us up to date every step of the way, were patient with us since when emotional and distraught, and the costs came in under their quote. Vet clinics everywhere are experiencing staff shortages so we were so grateful that they were able to take care of our guy as quickly and caringly as they did. I would absolutely recommend this clinic for emergencies.

While I do wish my golden never required special treatment from either Dr Elliot in oncology or Dr Harmon in cardiology, I am forever grateful for their compassion and empathy. They have both taken the time to fully explain the relevant conditions and treatment options, even during the challenge of a global pandemic. Dr. Crawford completed a challenging surgery that without a doubt added years onto my dog’s life. It’s really unfair that dogs have to suffer from these types of serious medical conditions, but having caring doctors makes it much easier to manage. Thank you!

My dog had both of her TTA surgeries done at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital. (I never considered having them done at a clinic that wasn't Board Certified.) Certainly receiving the diagnosis from my vet and then sending her in for surgery (twice) was scary (for both of us), incredibly stressful, and expensive. But it was the best money I've ever spent. I trusted the BBVSH staff and surgeons completely and they didn't let us down. Every person we worked was kind, patient, helpful and clear -- and beyond capable. My dog's second-knee recovery was very complicated and long (her fault, not theirs), and her surgeon Dr. Crawford spent many, many hours with us exploring options for speeding healing and keeping her happy. So kind. Today, several years later, my now-senior girl adventures, swims, hikes and runs like the wind. Dr. Crawford and his team are our heroes. Yes, her treatment was expensive -- much more than a regular family vet. But I was willing to pay for the very best care and surgery by the province's top doctors. 10/10 Recommend.

Had my little dog in today for a surgical consultation for a luxating patella. We saw Dr. Evan Crawford. He was saw kind and informative as he went through all of the information I would need to make a decision for my little dog. I felt very comfortable and that my dog was in very good hands. The staff was extremely kind and went out of their way to make me and my dog comfortable too. Thank you Boundary Bay.

They’ve taken such good care of my senior dog with cancer (who had surgery to remove it!). They truly consider the animal’s quality of life when recommending treatment options, which is so important. The care they have for the animals is top notch, and the staff are so lovely to deal with (coming from a very nervous dog owner who calls hourly for updates). Dr. Crawford and the whole team have held our hand/paw throughout the ordeal and have gone above and beyond. They’re well worth the drive, and well worth every penny.

I am a human emergency physician. I am clear that my knowledge has little cross over when taking care of my dogs. My dog Luke has been to Boundary Bay vet for emergencies throughout his 15 year life. All of the staff - receptionists, vet assistants, vets - are always fabulous. They never try to rip me off with suggesting tests that Luke doesn't really need. When Luke was younger, he swallowed a nut and ended up with a horrible GI obstruction. This team saved his life without a doubt. I cannot thank they enough for the high quality and informed care they provide. I would not hesitate for a second to bring animals to this excellent service to Langley residents and beyond.

Extremely happy and thankful for Boundary Bay hospital, they saved my dog. They took the complaints and symptoms seriously after another hospital released my dog with no diagnosis.. Boundary Bay found the problem with proper testing and had her in surgery FAST. The aftercare visits with them have been so easy, their communication was immaculate, I was given perfect/easy instructions on how to take care of my dog at home. I really can't say enough amazing things about this place.

The staff at Boundary Bay were incredibly empathetic, professional, and compassionate during one of the worst moments of our lives; our 1.5 year old Bernese Mountain Dog required surgery for a foreign body removal late at night. A huge, and heartfelt, thank you to Dr. Geoffrey Hutchinson for his incredible work on our boy. Thank you again for taking the time to answer all of our tear-filled questions at crazy hours of the day and night.

Top notch Oncology Service. It’s a position no pet owner wants to be in, and a great hospital makes a big difference. Thank you Dr. Herrera and team for the outstanding and accommodating care. I appreciate the sympathy card and miss Athena very much.

We have been seeing Dr. Wright for the past year and super happy with her knowledge and professionalism. I have an English Mastiff and due to their size, care for them is different in many ways. Dr. Wright performed surgery on dog, she had complications post op and Dr. Wright got her back to being fully functional again. I can't thank her enough. My dog is my baby at 160 pounds ????.
