My husband and I just found a stray dog hunkered down in our driveway cold, missing hair, hungry, with what looked like tumors on its paws, so we brought it to the Humane Society. More like the groan and complain society, they complained that we didn't tell them it was in such bad shape (even though we called them on our way there and told them the condition it was in so they would be prepared for it) then told us we should have taken it to the vet (I'm not taking a stray dog to the vet we aren't wealthy)and then proceeded to grumble about them not having a vet on staff, this is why I avoid this place at all costs they couldn't just take it and have that be that ????.

I love the Humane Society of Skagit Valley, The staff is the best and the facility is so clean and easy to get around the place, it's been a very stressful time trying to work around the covid situation but they did a great job, I use to volunteer there but some personal sircomstances with my husband I had to stop. I really hope you go visit with the staff and the many pets there. I promise you will not be disappointed.

My little kitty. Mr. K...escaped out of my apt. last week. He must have lost his sense of direction because he wandered on down the street. A lady heard him crying and went out to see what was going on she saw my kitty and called animal control who picked up my pet and took him out to the humane society after having him checked by a vet...to make a long story short I went out there the next day paid to bail him out of the kitty jail. And brought him home safe and sound, he was SO incredibly happy and relieved to see me poor little guy. nobody could ever convince me that animals don't have feelings. :( ...I feel so bad for the animals that had to stay there...Thier poor little eyes are so sad.

Great place! Please adopt those amazing dogs or cats and give them a great life. I adopted my beautiful Jenny and I am so happy with her. She's such a sweetheart. Remember is not the dog, but the dog owner. No dog is a bad dog.

It was very heart warming and eye opening. These animals need rescued. People should really consider helping an animal in need.

Great place, loving shelter, they put allot or effort into finding good homes for their animals. I didnt have the best experience or luck, but that doesnt mean its a bad place.

The staff are always friendly, caring, and very informative. Animals are always well taken care of and clean. You can tell that each staff member and volunteer truly care about the animals and their mission.

The Skagit Humane Society was very helpful today. We had 12 cats dumped in our area and they helped take some of them in, got them safe, cleaned up, medicated and fed. Their facility was clean, staff was friendly. Adopt don't shop. Thank you Skagit Humane Society for the good work you do!!

I attempted to adopt an animal from your facility and from the start it seemed because I wasn't from Skagit County I was being discouraged. The email I was sent to prove I could properly apply said only people who live outside Skagit had to prove these things. My landlord had a hard time getting you to respond AND you lied to them about the size of the animal I was trying to adopt. We did go a different direction. Same size as we would have gotten with you. The dog gets walked many times a day, goes to a dog park near us, spends time on our porch and is loved more than anything. I think you should change your criteria because your judgment is unjustified if a family is going to give the animal everything it needs.

This place is amazing! It’s been a week since I adopted our beloved cat Roxy! They mean what they say when they say you’re getting a sweet cat! My Roxy is the sweetest! She’s a very calm and loving cat! I couldn’t ask for more! The fact that they let me interact with her before I decide to see if we are a match is also a great idea. The place was clean and there’s plenty of room for the cats to ran around. I am very satisfied with my adoption.

Fantastic shelter for cats! The volunteers there are extremely friendly and helpful and very loving towards the animals. The building is clean and all the animals have great areas to roam and play in. They do a good jobs socializing the cats and caring for any sick animals. It was a no-brainer when I found my cat here that I would take her home!

Wonderful. Really nice people here. Adoption price was very reasonable at $100 for adult cat. Did not include rabies shot however.

Wow, $250 to adopt? I guess this organization isn't crazy about finding a home more than finding money.

They double booked appointments, let us view and bond with cats that were adopted, cut our 30 min appointment short by 13 minutes- we stood outside in the wind and rain for 10 minutes past our appointment time. They told us we had to leave so they could go to lunch, and that we had to reschedule to adopt because we "ran out of time". Honestly, it was a sad experience for our family. We have been looking for months, and this was really discouraging in these already difficult times.

Back in March of 2017 I went to look at two kittens brother and sister. I told the staff I would adopt them withing a couple days. The morning of I get a call saying that someone else is coming to look at the cats and will probably adopt them. I explained I was adopting them and asked is it first come first serve? The answer I received was "well yes but no..". My boyfriend and I went into the shelter to explain to the staff and they pulled out my file, as we are reviewing it a random staff person comes by glances over at my file and says " these cats wouldn't do well with dogs." It said I had a dog under PREVIOUSLY OWNED PETS. I no longer had that dog. I was then told that I needed to have my landlord contact them to know it was okay to have pets. So I do it, landlord talks to them everything's fine. Then! They say my landlord needs to call back saying we've paid the pet deposit. This all couldn't have been done within the same conversation? Awful and unprofessional staff. I was crying on the phone when we left because I had to give out landlord a check and then come back, not sure if the cats would still be there. We ended up getting the cats and they are very happy but it was the crappiest most b.s. process I have ever been through. The staff doesn't care and are extremely rude. I will not adopt another pet from them. I spoke with a friend about my experience and she said she also had a bad experience with this shelter. It's just upsetting because it's great to adopt animals but this place shouldn't make it so difficult.

Wonderful place to go and adopt. Cats are well cared for, amazing staff. Also there is a chunky princess to pet and play with while you are there. Amazing prices on toys for cats and dogs, way better than another pet store
