There was a time when North Shore was a five star veterinarian hospital. Over the last five years plus things have changed… long wait times even though you’ve made an appointment. I waited over an hour past scheduled appointment time my previous appointment and today 30 minutes past appointment time. If you’re short on staff then DON’T schedule so many appointments. This is disrespectful to the customer! Is the customers time not important? It should be! About 2 1/2 years ago we had to put down one of our beloved dogs… my wife and son wanted to be there… my wife was really concerned and needed reassurance that we were doing the right thing… we waited briefly in a room for the vet. She then explained the process, assuring my wife we were doing the right thing, it would be painless and he’d pass peacefully. (I have had others pets euthanized and know the process) To my surprise the vet did not start an IV to administer the 1st of the two shots. Instead she injected the 1st shot IM into the rear hip. My poor dog whimpered and flinched looking back at her as the shot was pushed and injected into his muscle. My wife and son were shocked, this traumatized them! They never wanna be with me if we ever have to put down another one of our beloved pets. I did explain to my family that this is not the norm, that every other time I’ve had this done they start an IV. Then they inject one shot pushing it through the IV then push the second shot and this peacefully euthanizes the animal. Unfortunately, on this day the vet chose not to follow this process. A professional veterinarian would never have done that! To this day my family still feels bad for our boy… he experienced PAIN minutes before we said good bye… I feel guilty… that’s on North Shore Vet Hospital!

Have only seen them a few times, mostly routine. My dogs hate other dogs and have problems with fireworks/loud bangs. Northshore has been very accommodating to my dogs' issues(sneaking us in a back door), and prescribed a sedative that helped calm them when fireworks went off on New Year's. So far, I am very satisfied.

Tonight my 16 year old dog went for a euthanasia consult. She was nearing the end of her well and long lived life. Not only did the vets squeeze us in (on a holiday week and on top of a COVID chaos world) but they stayed late when they had absolutely no obligation to. They were SO kind, compassionate and understanding. They listened but more importantly they gave honest feedback about my dogs quality of life. We ended up choosing euthanasia as the best option tonight. She went peacefully in my moms arms. The vet was absolutely phenomenal. I applaud every vet for doing this part of the job because I know it is mentally taxing on them as much as it is for the human who is losing the pet. I cannot say enough good things about our experience today (and in many years past) with Northshore Vet for our dog and cats. Their unwavering kindness and professionalism is top notch. I so highly recommend them. Thank you for everything you do. Your whole staff is immensely appreciated! -Maddie, April & Dolly Brooks

We’ve used this vet for the last year and I must say that they absolutely love and care for the animals. I haven’t had a reason to bring either of my cats in yet, but they have been so wonderful with my rescue pup who is very shy and skittish around new people, especially at the vet. I took him yesterday to get a routine blood test and he was not having it. He was so scared but they didn’t force him to do anything and we ended up skipping the blood test to come back another day. I appreciate their kindness and not forcing my sweet rescue boy to do something he was so scared to do. They suggested we try a mild sedative so we are going to try that next week. I’ve never had another vet that was so gentle. In my experience, all my former vets would have held the dog down and just got the blood test done. I can’t say how much it means to me (and my dog!) that he wasn’t forced to do anything so he can build trust with the staff there. He left a happy boy and hopefully will return that way next week. Thank you!

Would rate as a five star if front office personnel treated clients in a more professional manner

These guys were great. They saw my little pickles the hedgehog when no one else would. She was on her way out and they brought her back.

Very very strong on the Covid protocols. Maybe a bit overdone? (Sit in car, text on arrival, etc). Quality of care fantastic!

Got my cats checked in right on time. The vet came out to my car to discuss everything and didn't rush. My cats are thicc and I didn't feel like he was judging me at all. We went over a feeding plan and good to go! Definitely my new vet!

We started bringing our pets the Northshore Vet when it was actually on Northshore Drive (maybe 2000-2001). Since that time we've had two cats and one dog that we have entrusted them to care for. Every vet (no exaggeration) I have seen there has been very compassionate and knowledgeable. In my experience, the front office staff has been polite and professional on the phone and in person. On the phone, the staff has given me good advice. They have not prompted me to bring in my pet when it wasn't necessary (just to make a buck), and on the flip side, the staff has prompted me to bring in my pet when needed. No one there has ever pushed for unnecessary tests or tried to sell me anything we don't need. I have never once thought about taking my animals to any other vet.

Northshore was my dog’s vet for several years, and they were always great, but they truly shined when I lost my dog. They were incredibly compassionate and caring, and details like the card they sent afterwards felt personal and comforting. I can’t imagine having to go through that experience anywhere else. Thank you to the staff for all of the love you all put into the entire process.

Having deep trust and love for my kitty’s previous vet, I was very worried about finding him another great one when first moving to the Bellingham area in August 2020. The team at Northshore has proven to be incredibly helpful and superb to work with as digestive problems have suddenly developed in my cat over the past 6 months. The assistant staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful even just over the phone. They are willing to take the time to relay a question to the vet and bring back an answer whenever possible. The vets themselves are friendly and clearly explain the situation and your options to address it, happily taking the time to answer questions too! Somehow the whole Northshore operation runs super smoothly and extremely timely despite the weird times we are in. I’m thoroughly impressed and grateful to again have a place I can trust to give the best care to my kitty! Thank you everyone at Northshore for your hard work!! ❤️❤️

I can’t say enough good things about Northshore Vet! Dr. Kim Barron is an excellent vet who has literally saved my cat’s life multiple times, and I’ve never felt so included in my pet’s healthcare. She and all of the staff are so friendly and caring and clearly love what they do. I trust them completely and recommend this vet wholeheartedly.

Got my dog in for surgery with a next day appointment. Everything went well and it was a reasonable price.

They charged me $30 for a phone call. A phone call!!!! When I asked what that's about the vet got defensive and said "my time is valuable and I'm trying to build a relationship with you" girl, it's not a relationship if I have to pay you to be my friend ????????. I asked one other billing question and the vet got frustrated, told me to just call reception and basically hung up on me. Do I have to pay to call them too? They took my kitty at 8:30am and still didn't have her in for surgery at 3pm. Nearly $600 for booster shots and a spay surgery and of course no payment plan option. They also let my cat tear at her arm that had the IV in it so she has a hot spot now. Cool! If I'm paying $600 for anything the service better be immaculate. Instead I got attitude from nearly every person I spoke with getting nickle and dimed all the way! (Heather was the exception). I'd expect this from a seedy lawyer's office or a used car lot, not a "top of the line" vet office. Bizarre billing, bizarre behavior, absolutely not impressed. But at least I'll always be able to make myself laugh when I think about the absolute audacity of a vet's office charging $30 for a 4 minute phone call that ended with them hanging up on me.

So far so good after the initial first visit and exam. I'm one of 'those' dog moms and used to work in the industry. The vet answered all of my questions and concerns graciously and thoroughly. My great Danes neuter is scheduled in a week. They came highly reccomended for giant breed veterinary care. Looking forward to working with them.

I'm overly protected about my baby seizure alert dog in which he is in training. The Doctor was so nice and respectful and curtious that's the kind of staff I want to handle my baby this is my 3rd seizure alert dog I've had and I treat them like my own son's. My baby always comes first before me and anyone else. This visit is the beginning of a whole new beginning for you guys and us. Thank you so very much

Dr.Aaron takes such thoughtful care of my dog pack. I can tell his concern is genuine. I've been going here since 2013. They have excellent safety protocols in place for coronavirus -- you should feel safe with their system of outdoor drop-off/pick-up, and telephone consultation and payment.
