My dog got into a bunch of trailmix which had lots of raisins. Tanasbourne had me call poison control and then let me bring her in right away to be seen and induce the vomiting. They took her in and kept her for two days, and was so caring …

Never go here. They're some of the most incompetent, and inconsiderate vets I've ever encountered. They don't care about your pets as they should. I would not waste the time or money unless this is your absolute last option.

Rushed my cat here at midnight when she started experiencing breathing problems/convulsions. Unfortunately, my special little girl did not come home with me, but the staff here were incredibly kind and helpful during the entire ordeal. I cannot thank them enough for their patience and understanding over my loss. Strongly recommend this place for any sudden pet emergencies. I give my thoughts and love to anyone who also experiences a one-way trip here.

Our dog had acute abdominal pain appear out of nowhere just as we we're winding down for the night. The only emergency vet clinic open was this Tanasbourne location. Normally our dog is extremely active and healthy. All of a sudden he's yelping tail tucked abdominal muscles super rigid peeing on the floor. Once we presented to the clinic first thing the representative said to us " are you sure he didn't get in any cannabis?" After describing the onset, they reluctantly agreed to triage him, repeatedly reminding us that they had an 18-hour wait time to see a vet; I assume that means tomorrow morning when the vet comes in to work?? After 20 minutes they return laterwith our dog to say he was "super stable" and "must have pulled a muscle or something" and they had given him Gabapentin "an anti-inflammatory." Gabapentin is not an anti-inflammatory for one thing but that sheds light on their general skill level. The general attitude and disregard was really is upsetting. They basically brushed us off and sit and give us the 18 hour wait time and asked "are you sure you want to come back?" Really?? Knowing dang well that most veterinarians are open the next day. They did not offer Imaging or even a full exam. Now my dog is still still tense, tail tucked, trembling and rigid, still urinating all over the place when he tries to walk. Something is wrong with my dog and I'm pretty upset that they wouldn't even do an ultrasound or an x-ray

Overall bad experience, no compassion or pain meds at initial triage until I pushed, when she in fact had a serious injury. IVDD diagnosis, severe pain. The first vet tech we met with for triage returned to me with an immediate almost confrontational attitude. I just wanted information about how to keep my dog comfortable while we waited, but she seemed annoyed. She said they couldn't palpate any pain, didn't give me a chance to explain all the changes in behavior (i.e. shivering was not normal for her) and acted like I was a loon for bringing her in. We sat for about 2 hours and finally I asked again if there was any way we could make her more comfortable while we waited. She was taken back about 5 hours later - the next vet felt her belly and back said she had a slipped disk, did not want to do an x-ray, gave us pain meds and rushed us out. No discussion of the importance of confinement for healing. Took her to her regular vet, got x-rays, bloodwork and a full discussion of what she needed in order to heal. tldr; Avoid unless you know your dog is critical and can't get to another hospital in time.

Had a good experience taking my cat here twice when he had a bout of pancreatitis. Pricing seemed comparable to what I expected for emergency vet care, the doctors were great and willing to put up with me calling every 8 hours for an update. I will say, they are quite busy, probably because they have higher reviews and better availability than some other emergency clinics. Wish there were more places around Portland like this one.

Brought cat in for UTI, cat tests positive for UTI. Staff scare us into X-raxs even though it is clearly a UTI, then use the X-rax to try to scare us into a, Doctor admitted, currently unnecessary surgery for big $$$$. When we refused the cat suddenly wasn't ready to go, now its been well over an hour quickly going on two and still not cat to take home. Keep getting told they don't have enough staff to discharge the cat that was ready to go an hour ago. I inform them my partner and I are disabled and must return to car because their chairs hurt and we don't feel safe hanging out in their lobby indefinitely during Covid. Thats when staff cut me off to tell me what I am allowed to do IF I want my cat, and going out to the car to wait for a call when the cat is ACTUALLY READY is not one of the options they wanted me to have. I am in the car now, I expect the staff to leave me waiting here for a long time out of spite. I was told at 11a to get my cat, paid the bill over the phone. Its almost 1p and I am going yo ho inside to see whats the hold up.

My cats face is swollen infection so I bring my cat here and they tell me it'll be a 24 hour wait. I need my cat seen now as she may be dead by morning. This place is a joke. They lost my business.

The website and front door says 24/7 but don’t bother trying to call on Saturday because they don’t answer the phone, this has happened more then once to me and no it’s not busier than normal because I drove in and asked, sadly this seems to be a thing and while I get they are under staffed they could forward calls to a answering service or have a recording stating they are out or busy ect. Love the vets there but that’s the only positive. Hopefully one of these days they get another 24/7 vet hospital on the area to take some of the load off .

They were professional, calm, and understanding as they fixed up my little boy cat after his tail vs door accident. There was some back and forth on the wait times which went from 2 hrs to 6 hrs, but this is to be expected at a 24hr emergency vet (especially on a Sunday). You can’t go in expecting it to be a routine vet visit with appointments as they have many walk in emergencies. They also offered to neuter him while he was under for his tail amputation, and this was incredibly appreciated as I’ve been trying to get ahold of vets in my area with absolutely no luck. All in all, I really appreciated them and my only complaint is that I wish I lived closer.

These people saved my cat, Scooter's life. Scooter had a very rapidly growing growth in his intestines and I was able to get him in to Tanasbourne for the surgery to remove the growth. I came at midnight worried out of my skull and he was admitted and getting prepped for surgery nearly immediately! They called me throughout keeping me involved in decision making and after when he was in recovery. They kept him for a few days to keep an eye on him, but gave me the option to come visit him! The aftercare instructions were easy to understand and they didn't mind when I called them later with dumb questions. A week after surgery I panicked and brought him back in and not only did they see him immediately, they put my fears to rest, refilled his medication and didn't charge me for the second stop by ( because nothing was wrong with Scooter, I just didn't know what the surgery site looks like when its healing!)All around, a fantastic emergency vet, they know that we are all scared for our pets and they are kind, thoughtful, respectful and give top notch care. Did I mention they are affordable? I appreciate them being open 24 hours because so rarely do emergencies happen during 9-5. While I have a primary care doctor, knowing that these amazing humans are available if I need help makes me feel like a better cat mom.

If only I could give this place a better rating. This place is the BEST option for pet assistance and emergencies, My dog Latte had been trembling all night with labored breathing, I began with calling every emergency vet around me and none picked up the phone, I thought all was lost and that I'd have to make my fur baby suffer through the night until morning, Fortunately, the Miss who worked at the desk (I never got her name but she wore a very lovely poncho.) picked up in a timely and polite way, Gave me a price estimate and recommended I bring Latte in to get looked at. 30 minute drive but it was worth it. The front desk clerk was very polite, kind and courteous, her manners were incredibly good and she stayed professional, she explained that the doctor is doing something and so I waited for the doc. Wait time wasnt even that long, I waited roughly 30 or so minutes which is not much at all considering it was a walk-in emergency, Doc was very kind to Latte and supportive that she was anxious and took her to take a look. Few minutes pass and she explains what was wrong very clearly and in a simple way to easily understand, she administered pain meds and sent us on our way. We only paid $65 for the exam, $60 for the look at and $5 for the pain meds, Very good pricing without breaking the bank and wonderfully chosen for an emergency clinic. Had a wonderful checkup with Miss Courtney and the front desk and I will definitely recommend this spot to my friends who have pet emergencies too. Amazing service!

The staff answering the phone is to say the least arrogant. You're not allowed in the building - not because of Covid anymore, as all businesses are now open, but because it's more convenient for the clinic to have everyone just waiting in their cars. The owner's pick up policy is very disrespectful to people's time. I arrived a few minutes before the provided pick-up time, and was then told *then* that the "discharge can take one hour or even two hours". When I asked if they could give me a narrower wait time window, I was told that the practice was an emergency clinic and that they work on the discharges between patients, and "that's why discharge could take up to a few hours", depending on how busy they were. "You have to stay here and wait in the car" - I was told with a military tone. And so I did. They had my dog and my credit card; I had nothing to bargain with. I couldn't even say: 'I'll take my dog elsewhere next time', as they are the only 24h vet hospital in the area. The only thing I can do is leave this review, so others know to be prepared for long wait times seating in their cars.

The Vet called me within the expected time frame. I hopped in the car for the 45 min. drive in and they saw my cat right away. Quickly got her abcess taken care of and the bill was reasonable. Nothing negative to say about this vet.

My dog was having some pretty major bathroom issues and was very weak, so I brought her in and they were able to see her right away. The whole process went very smoothly, all of the staff from the front desk to the tech and the vet were very communicative, responsive, and got my pup all taken care of. It's a bit of a trek from where I live, but if she ever needs an urgent vet visit again I would definitely go back.

There was a treat emergency. Naturally I was shamelessly a brat and demanded Kardashian treatment…even though I didn’t deserve it they went above and beyond to make sure my pooch was taken care of…and my emotional terrorist self. They were absolutely fabulous, understanding, and so kind!!! I cannot give enough stars!!!

The receptionist warned us that there would be a 4-6hr wait, which was incredibly helpful for preparing ahead of time, even in an emergency. They were friendly, happy, and kind. They only charged us 1,620 when DoveLewis wanted to charge us 6,000. They triaged the pets first to make sure they were stable before having them wait. If the pet was not stable they took them right away. Our baby was taken pretty quickly and was being prepped for life-saving surgery before we left the parking lot. They called us to give information and updates. Instead of the "possible" six days of hospital stay DoveLewis told us would be needed for her recovery, our baby was home the very next day post-surgery. We were incredibly impressed with the professionalism, the quick response to our baby's emergency, and their kindness. Tanasbourne Veternarian Emergency has the feel of a real hospital whereas DoveLewis made me feel like I was applying for Snap benefits. Those of you who have had to apply for Snap benefits, you know what I'm talking about. ????

Major customer service issues in front office staff & phone skills. Poor communication & absolutely no respect for peoples time . The closed front office & parking lot waiting room??? Why? Even though they are busy & understaffed like every other business in town , having people wait for hours when not necessary in parking lot drop off & pickup. They need someone to compete with them but I guess when their the only show in town they can run poorly & still stay in business. No complaints about Vet which communicated well. The only thing they were prompt @ was making sure to get our credit card info to get paid

This hospitals immediate and thorough response saved our dog JJ. We drove nearly 3 hours to be treated at this hospital. We were turned away by 3 other vet offices to treat his symptoms, which turned out to be salmon disease. He would have died.

While I didn't want to go to the emergency vet, not ONE person I talked to at Tanasbourne Vet Emergency made me feel like it was the wrong decision to come here. They brought my Rainy back from a near diabetic coma and she back to her punky self. They were responsive, attentive, patient, and understanding. Would highly recommend them; if needed.

Do Not sign anything under duress!!! After being up for 48 hours with a puppy having seizures and then taking her to ER sitting there in tears in and off phone with different people telling them how I just want the best for her. I was given the option to sign some papers to turn her over to a pet rescue. I was so distraught. They told me she would need to spend the night in er for observation. It could be a liver shunt (which is survivable with surgery and special diet for life) or "water" on the brain which is not. Blood tests would tell. I was told they would hold the paperwork until the blood work came back as I was unsure what to do. I was so confused. When I called the next morning they told me I had surrendered her to the rescue!!!! I Didn't!!!!

As the closest ED to us for cats, we called ahead to make an appointment for an emergency visit and let them know we were coming in. We were turned away over the phone by this and numerous other hospitals in the area. We finally went to DoveLewis in Portland and were told that if we had waited any longer our cat would’ve gone into kidney failure. I’m not sure how a veterinary emergency clinic can claim to handle emergencies while turning away potentially life-threatening cases.

It’s definitely a hit or miss with whomever Doctor you get and the type of information … Some are super informative and semi empathetic others like the one I had initially and now again this evening was cold and a tad sarcastic… Not at all the bed side manner I would appreciate right before trying to get some rest due to worries about my puppy. But she made sure to tell me a few times that hopefully she won’t be calling me in the middle of the night with bad news . I am thankful for the 24 hour Emergency Vet services. With Covid things are more difficult to not be able to see your pet. And to solely rely on various techs and vets with different levels of manners, it’s a degree of ups and downs along with the sickness of my pet that makes this time even more stressful and sad.

I’ve had two animals go to this location with no issues, aside from them asking us to call but rarely answering the phone—but just called to get a very dismissive rude girl who answered the phone. I’d been calling all day to finally get ahold of someone for her to be dismissive and rude on the phone. I get you all are busy, but it doesn’t mean to be rude to those asking for help for their loved ones. My suggestion, do something about her, bc I it was rude enough for me to write a review. Won’t be going back. Thanks!

The doctors and nurses here are amazing. They helped us through the difficult decision on our 12 yr old pups end of life care. They were amazingly professional and compassionate. This would have been a much harder process without them.

Taken great care of our cat who had to get his leg amputated due to multiple fractures. We have visited multiple times and although wait times have been pretty long on a few occasions (is expected when visiting any ER vet), they have been very attentive and kind throughout this stressful process, they even remember him when we bring him back for visits! There is a tap house and coffee shop in the same parking lot which is super nice to have access to while waiting. I would highly recommend this vet over others in the Portland area.

Brought my dog in after she cut her back leg open. It wasn't that serious, and it was a Friday morning, so I knew we'd be waiting awhile. The staff was friendly and let me know that it would be a few hours, as they see pets in the order they arrive UNLESS a serious case comes in, which is as it should be. Eventually my dog was seen, and the vet called me pretty quickly with her recommendation and a plan. It felt like a fair price for the exam, sedation, stitches, a cone, antibiotics, and painkillers, and they even trimmed Frida's nails while she was sedated. Yes, it took all day, but as I couldn't even get an appointment with my normal vet, and they did such a good job with Frida, I think it was worth it!

Really kind and attentive in the midst of being really busy. Lots of vets are backed up now and I was happy to be able to get my cat’s leg looked at the same day. People who are complaining about wait times need to realize that there’s a pandemic, they are short staffed and there are triages. My cat hurt his leg and I was willing to wait as long as possible to be seen same day than wait until October to get him with my regular vet.
