This is one of the worst places I have ever taken my pet, run, the service is terrible, they never answer the phone and the people who work there are disrespectful to animals and people. IT IS THE WORST PLACE!

I brought my cats here for over six years, seeing Dr. Boone (Jr) and Dr. Madden several times each. Vet care - I was always pleased with their attention to the animals and advice given to me, especially initially as a very nervous, probably over-eager first-time cat owner. Both doctors and vet techs seemed to remember my cats and have a way with calming them. Office staff (because there are several negative reviewers on this point) - On occasion over several years people may not have been overly cheery at busy times but they were always professional and patient in explaining prices and then evolving coronavirus prevention measures, and they always worked hard to fit me in when one of my pets was sick - I never had to find an emergency or other vet during business hours. I was sad to have to find a new vet when I moved recently, but the office staff were very responsive and helpful in transferring records. Prices - reasonable for the neighborhood.

Just called and the voicemail just hangs up on you after it says no one to answer the phone. This is not the kind of service you'd want if you have an emergency or need to speak to someone...

It is the worst place in DC for your animals, the service is terrible. For a year I have received inconsiderate treatment, they never answer the phone, nor are they responsible in answering to emails. They constantly make mistakes with the visitation announcements and I have really felt that they are discriminatory, but that is my perception. I never want to hear from this place again and I advise you not to bring your pets here.

I’ve been with this vet since 2011 and they’ve always exceeded my expectations. Today, during a time of crisis, they were outright rude. My beagle broke his toenail and the quick was exposed. Blood was everywhere. I explained this when i called Adams Morgan, my vets, also noting my dog wouldn’t put pressure on his paw and I couldn’t stop the bleeding, and without asking my name or checking my dog’s chart, I was met with a cold, “Sir. We’re booked for today. Let me give you the number for an emergency vet clinic.” Her rude and dismissive manner was beneath the level of service I would provide to my worst enemy. Frantic, I called two DC emergency vets and City Paws (not my vet) who were also “booked beyond capacity” for the day. Thing is, they took the extra effort ask questions about Odie and his situation. They didn’t outright dismiss me after being a 10 year plus patient. Adams Morgan Animal Hospital, my vet of 10 years who were there for me when when laid my previous beagle of 15 years to sleep, failed me. I get they were booked. I don’t understand the rude lady’s attitude on the phone Your front desk staff needs some people skills. This isn’t the first time they’ve been rude and dismissive.Trust is earned. Years to build. Seconds to lose. I’m going to assume this was a bad day, so let’s hope the next visit is better

Their phone system has had issues on an almost consistent basis which makes it very difficult to get in contact with them. Today their phone system said it is down because it is July 4th (it is September 13th). What if there was an emergency and you needed to contact them? Unacceptable, I’m going to be looking for a new vet that can be reliably contacted.

Despite covid measures causing some issues they checked on my cat as I needed. Haven't seen inside but seems like a lovely place by people that love what they do.

I was looking for a Black-owned vet located in DC proper and found this place! It's super convenient (I live downtown); they know my dog well (they call him by name as soon as he walks in); and the doctors know exactly what they are talking about. I love this clinic (and my puppy loves it too!)

These amazing people fit me in at the last possible moment and took fantastic care of my cat Oliver. I found out he had a bladder blockage and they did everything for him. I couldn’t go to the animal urgent care facility and they undoubtedly saved his life. I will be making this his new primary care vet. Can’t recommend enough!

My puppy actually loves going to the vet because they are so patient and caring with him. Dr. Boone and his crew are very knowledgeable and have walked me through the whole puppy ownership process kindly. Please consider them as your vet!

I am searching for other vets after this. When I arrived a girl was waiting outside and was being told that she needed to do another round of vaccines- she claimed she was not told that they needed to be back to back. The tech said that it "must have been a busy day, they should have." I thought that was an alarming response... this is where we take our pets for their health, let's hope it's not a busy day!! I called days prior to schedule and told them my dog had received the Bordatella vaccine at a vet in Richmond (I travel frequently for work not a lack of loyalty to the vet), they said no problem just try to have Richmond send the record and they would note it for my visit. (I wanted to make it very apparent as he has been double vaxxed before and the blame was that RIchmond didn't send the form). Spoke with the tech (different one than above)- told her I wasn't sure if the record came through but he has Bordatella. Spoke with the vet, she couldn't be better which is so hard!! I approved two vaccines and my invoice came after and what do you know, three vaccines including 47.50 for Bordatella. I told the tech there was a mistake to which she rudely said "well you didn't tell me and must not have told the vet." I was livid and started saying I think I need to go somewhere else in the future and she was already walking up the stairs ignoring me. Please pull recordings of my calls if you need proof that I hammered home that he does not need this vaccine. This is two times in a row that I saw your staff reject responsibility, this seems like a complete scam.

I got to know about Dr Boone through word of mouth ( a friend takes his dog there) and my new pup loves going to this vet. The staff are really well informed and provide a good balance of loving care, preventative tips, and value. The staff remembers all dogs, and I greatly appreciate that. For example, once when I had a question about my pup and I called in to ask, the next time I called to book her vaccine appointment, they even asked me how she was doing. Dr Boone had come out to answer all my questions patiently on our first visit, which I was most grateful for.

I'm not sure what all the fuss from other reviews is about. They took my cat on short notice when she wasn't feeling right. I have never had a vet tech and a vet stay on the phone with me to talk me through my cat's behavior like Dr. Boone and his staff did. Dr. Boone has a wonderful manner and is just a joy to talk with. They're also more affordable than other places in D.C. Definitely recommend.

They aren't very pushy about upselling you on stuff for your dog or cat. They aren't the cheapest vet that I've been to in terms of services but I appreciate that they just seem honest.

First time pet owner? Don't expect their receptionists to help you out at all on the phone. Instead you can expect a condescending, dismissive tone, like you're wasting their time trying to do business with them. Also, don't bother with a courtesy thank you at the end of the call, as you'll just get a response of "uh huh" and then be hung up on. As for the actual veterinary side of things? Couldn't tell you, as nobody explained what exactly had been done and what needed to be done moving forward. They were, however, very efficient when it came to setting up a payment plan, so don't worry about that, there won't be any issues with them taking your money.

I’ve been taking my dog here since she was a puppy about a year ago. I signed up for one of the many puppy plans they offer. Staff is always helpful and very thorough in explaining treatments for my dog, etc.

They have some serious issues with everyone being on the same page. My dog got into a houseplant, I called and asked them what to do and they told me to bring her in immediately. When I arrived they told me the couldn’t see her without an appointment. They really need to get it together

Had to take my dog here for an emergency and they took her in right away. The staff was very friendly and welcoming! Will be taking our dog here now instead of our previous vet.

I had the worst experience at Adams Morgan Animal Hospital. I took my kitties for annual vaccines and check up and I did NOT appreciate the rudeness of the front desk people, but I stayed anyway because I wanted a vet close to home. What a mistake. When an emergency came, and my diabetic cat had trouble, I went running with him in a carrier only to receive the same treatment on the front desk. Even though it was an emergency because my cat was in a diabetic coma, the front desk woman said "the doctor has no appointments available for today." I explained: but this is an emergency, and this is an animal hospital, right? Well, no. She said she could not ensure that my cat would receive treatment, not emergency treatment and not even to be seen at some point of the day. I took a taxi and got to Friendship Heights Animal Hospital, where in less than 2 minutes my cat was receiving the care he needed. People with animals: if you love your pets, stay away from this place. They might sound OK for a regular visit, but if you ever have an emergency, they won't be there for you. And to the Vet: please fire the front desk people. They cannot have a job involving attention to the public. I have never experienced such rudeness from a service provider, ever in my life, anywhere in the world. It was shocking. I am still moved to tears when I remember myself desperate with a cat in a diabetic coma being told by this woman to basically go somewhere else, even though my cats were patients there. Unbelievable. Please stay away!!!

My fur baby Luna has been seen here since she was a puppy and that was 13 years ago. The care and compassion that the doctors and staff have are unparalleled. I won’t take her anywhere else.
