I was referred to CityPaws by a neighbor and took my puppy their for his core vaccines. The staff was always pleasant, wait times were never long the only thing I didn't care for was the parking, but that's just part of patronizing a business in the city.

I’ve been a longtime client, since 2016 but this will likely be the last time I go out of my way to take my dog here. I scheduled an appointment a week out for time sensitive issues and got on the cancellation list. Was told there were several cancellations today, and rearranged my schedule to drive across town from deep in Southeast to make it. Rush hour starts at 3pm now apparently so hit a ton of traffic but still make it right at the advertised grace period of 15min . Call to check in and am placed on hold for 15 total minutes as we wait outside just to be told to reschedule and that the grace period has changed to 10min. Was I ever notified of this change? No. I received no call to confirm or check in if I was running late. Even the signage at the front desk says 15min grace period. So, two hour roundtrip for nothing. I thought the higher prices were worth paying for the appointment availability and attentiveness but those qualities no longer exist. Not to mention previous requests for medical records were ignored. Infuriating waste of time.

A solid run business with compassionate people. Not happy with turnover of veterinarians, but they seem to recruit quality doctors. Support staff is great

I do not usually write reviews but the outstanding service my dog received today deserves recognition! She got to a small chicken bone outside and although I got most of it out of her mouth, she was acting uncomfortable and like she still had something stuck in the back of her throat. I first called Friendship emergency vet and they said they had a 1-3 hour wait (plus it is a 20 minute drive). I was about to leave but my husband called City Paws and told them the situation. They said bring her right in. I got there abt 10 minutes later and the staff was waiting outside the front door to meet us. They took my dog back immediately for the doctor to examine her, while I gave check-in info as we had never been there before. They called me back to speak to the doctor 5 minutes later. The vet was extremely smart and friendly. Overall the service blew me away. Everyone from start to finish was so nice and made me feel at ease. My dog perked up significantly and was back to her normal self before we left. I was back home in way less than 1 hour from when she even ate the bone. Thank you!!

The receptionist at this practice is GROSSLY DISRESPECTFUL. I can sincerely say that I've never been addressed with such rudeness in a professional setting. Deeply shocking; I am new to Washington DC and had heard only good things about the doctors here, so it was a bitter disappointment to be treated so disrespectfully by the staff. CityPaws, I've sent you an email informing you of the details of this incident, and I hope to hear from you as to how you plan to prevent this from happening again. The reviews indicate that I'm not the only person toward whom your receptionist has behaved appallingly badly, and I would like to think that you as the business owner will be addressing these concerns. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I highly recommend CityPaws. Their staff are helpful and professional, and their doctors are compassionate, kind, and knowledgeable. The only negative experience I ever had was having to wait a fairly long time for a nail trim for my cat but it was during COVID and because if a staff shortage so it’s understandable. It’s a quality and well-planned practice that I have complete confidence in. I especially appreciate Courtney up front who is always helpful and efficient.

CityPaws used to be better than this. One word to describe them now - unprofessional. I cannot believe the owner still hasn’t fired the receptionists ???? is this a joke? If you care about your business, you should have a better people at your door. Dear receptionist, please look for another job if you don’t care about your duties. We do not want you guys to be there and do now want to drop off our dogs to you.

The actually doctors are amazing at what they do. But the lady at the front desk who answers the phone has to go. Shes impatient and cut me off before i could even finish my thoughts. She gave me absolutely no help and hang up on my face. I’d like to speak to a higher manager or owner about because it’s not the first time.

The staff is awful specially the receptionists... I think they're not happy with their jobs. My advice to them look for another job! They say is their policy and I believe that this is the true considering that I read before about they only caring about the money. They don't care about your pets. I am going there for a while and always get disappointed with something new. They cannot follow your pet’s history and always do something wrong. The last one for us was the wrong rabies shot they gave to one of our dogs. By the way if you need to take your dog there for an emergency remember that they only take you in if your dog is having a stroke and they’re still gonna charge you the price for an emergency. So good luck for you that decide to take your dog to their care.

We took our cat there and the reception was the rudest we have ever had at a vet. On top of this the treatment did not work and three weeks later we still have difficulties to communicate with the vet. So overall my worst experience.

CityPaws has always been super helpful and responsive to the care needs for our cat Vincent. From allergies to infections to teeth cleaning, they’ve been able to get him better and everyone is so nice there. Even though I’m no longer nearby I have kept CityPaws as our vet because with COVID it’s been next to impossible to find a new vet. I’m grateful to have them though and don’t mind the extra drive to know Vince will get taken care of!

I have been taking my dogs to CityPaws for a while now. While I love the doctors who tend to my pet, I am very disappointed with the receptionists in general. They are quite often very brusque, not friendly to distressed pet owners who are trying to see if they can make their per feel little better. It is just fine when you are taking the them for a regular check up. However, when there is a sick dogs you are trying to deal with, you hit the wall. They claim that it is the office policy and there is no appointment in sight.

I've had mostly good experiences bringing my dog here for the past three years in DC. With that being said, when my dog was attacked and I needed someone to look at him immediately the front desk told me they would not see him because they "don't take emergencies" and suggested I go to a Virginia pet hospital. I'm not sure how this is a good solution for those who don't have vehicles, have been a client for years and live one block away. City Paws is great for routine pet needs but when you actually need them they extremely unhelpful.

Dr. P and the CityPaws staff are AMAZING! They are always super helpful, make things easy to understand, and my 4 legged child LOVES them all! Seriously, I thought I would have to carry her to the vet and she gets excited! 10/10 would recommend!

CityPaws on 14th Street provides excellent care for pets. Not going in with my cat was strange but the staff at CityPaws took care of my cat and called me during her exam to let me know her status and see if I had any questions or concerns.

The staff has always been friendly to us. A few years ago they helped me resolve my dog's skin issues which took about 6 month to figure out and resulted in us buying Purina HA. The food was previously available through other retailers but it is becoming more limited to vets only. I input an order based on a coupon I received from City Paws and it took five days before they denied the order citing "No Vet-Client-Patient Relationship." If we have no relationship, then why are you sending me coupons?! From this vet's perspective, it is probably more lucrative to have my dog's skin issues flare up again using a different food and/or force us into an office visit rather than help ensure that she remains healthy and fed properly. Keep in mind that it took five days to even review it whereas the place I ended up going approved it same day. Customer service has definitely declined here.

About a week ago on my daily morning walk, I encountered a man in a motorized wheelchair stuck in the middle of an intersection. I asked if he needed help and he told me his chair ran our of juice. I offered to push him to a local business so he could plug in. It was 7:30am and not many businesses on 14th St. are open at that time, but after pushing this man 6 blocks (it's very difficult to push a motorized wheelchair that isn't charged) we came to City Paws - "thank goodness" I exclaimed aloud. I know they have very strict COVID protocols, so I called the front desk and asked for assistance. I explained that the man need not come into the business, but just needed to run his power cord to an outlet in the lobby for a few minutes so he could charge up and get on the bus. The front desk associate told me she had to ask permission and returned saying they could not help - they didn't have an extension cord. I looked through the window while she was talking to me and saw an extension cord on the ground and asked "what about that one" and she immediately and defensively responded "that won't work". I asked, I pleaded, can we please just try - it would make a huge difference in this gentleman's day. She refused. I begged for any help they could provide, but again they refused to help. I know it's not their business to help strangers on the street, but I was so frustrated and so disappointed in the folks working here for blatantly lying to me while feigning their desire to help, and assisting in the least to help a man in need. I wish CityPaws had taken the extra step that day to simply take care of one of its community members and help a man in need. I like to support business that mirror my values. Sadly, CityPaws is not that business for me.

I have nothing but good things to say about City Paws. A few weeks ago, one of our dogs had an emergency and CityPaws took her in with no questions asked. Unfortunately, we had to put her down, but there is no other clinic that I would have wanted to go through that ordeal then at CityPaws. They were empathetic, caring, and gave us their honest opinion on what options were available to us. I highly recommend them and they are the only vet we will use in DC.

I took my american bully here two times being brand new to the city and a few blocks away I was very excited to find him a new veterinary. From the 2nd visit where my dog had an irritated eye they were very timid of him. Keep in mind my dog was just as scared being that I had to take him to the ER a couple days prior to this visit which was just a follow up. Anyways they attended to him and a few weeks later I simply wanted to talk to the vet about CBD options for my dog who shows extreme signs of anxiety. At which time the receptionist put me thru to a voicemail for the vet which stated in the voicemail that she was out of town. I hung up and called back and asked to talk to any vet about cbd options and i wasnt interested in leaving a voicemail for someone who was going to be out of town for two weeks. The receptionist told me that the veterinarian was still at her desk so she would put me thru to her again so I can talk to her and not to worry about the voicemail. I got put thru, it went to voicemail. I left a voicemail. And to no surprise I did not receive a call back. BEEN VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH THE TREATMENT AND SERVICE FROM SAID EXPERTS. Regret spending my good earned money here because they did nothing to make me or my dog feel welcome or like they even valued our business.

Doctors are amazing. Support staff leaves a little to be desired. On my last visit, the assistant said she was pregnant and couldn’t pick up my (petite 10 pound dog) so she decided she would drag my already scared baby across the lobby down the hall. When I brought it to the attention of the front desk nurse, she argued with me rather than apologize.
