We've had really terrible experiences with the Hope Center. Everything here is about adding as much cost and providing as little care as possible. From demanding on-site visits to confirm things our primary vet has already confirmed, to …

If I could give this practice 0 stars, I would. I truly hope people think twice before bringing their pets here. My dog was an oncology patient and their department is a mess. There were multiple times where we called and were told to wait in our car for someone to come out, only for us to sit there for 30+ minutes and find out that they completely forgot about us. Dr. McMillian lacks compassion and it often felt like we were speaking with a robot. If you offer any other opinion besides her own, she immediately gets defensive. One time we brought our dog in the middle of the night (we live 45+ minutes away) and we were “highly encouraged” to drive back home, pick up her chemo medication and then drive all the way back. We did that, because we care about our dog’s health, and then they didn’t even give her the meds they practically forced us to drive home for. We ended up having to put our dog down less than a week after our last appointment with them and we didn’t get a single call from someone to check in, see how we’re doing, offer their condolences, etc. Heck, we got a handwritten card from Best Pet Rx, a pharmacy we used ONCE, but a practice we gave tens of thousands of dollars to couldn’t even make a 3 minute phone call to tell us how sorry they were. It’s disgusting. These are only a few of the issues we had, but I could go on for hours about how horrible our experience was with them. I sincerely hope no one endures what we did. We have other pets, but if they need to see a specialist I would rather drive hours away than ever consider the Hope Advanced Veterinary Center.

We couldn't go inside for my dog's appointment, but the people thats met us outside were amazing and cordial. After the appointment, the doctor called me by phone with a great summary about my dog's health.

We are thankful for the Hope Center, all the wonderful staff, the amazing veterinary technicians, and Dr. Sobel. Our cat has a rare autoimmune disease and has been going to Hope regularly since his last relapse. They took good care of him through multiple hospitalizations and blood transfusions. The only negative is that Dr. Gisselman refused to prescribe the medication that ultimately saved our cat's life. If we had listened to her we would have lost him earlier this year. Luckily, Dr. Sobel agreed to prescribe it. Hope is more expensive than other vets in the area but they are knowledgeable if you have a special case.

I truly hope your dog doesn't die. My dog got turned away today because they were too busy..... And I'm a customer with five dogs and 20 years doing business at this place. Something has changed here... Its not Covid, or staffing. Its leadership. It appears this is just a business and not a practice anymore. I guess there is a new meaning for 'hope',! For, I hope i find someone in time to help my dog and i hope you all find care when Hope turns you away as it did to my best friend Viking today.

We got a new puppy and four days after her adoption she began having small focal seizures that were dismissed as gagging and indigestion from transitioning to new food. She had a grand mal seizure and were referred to the Hope Center by our regular vet. They charged $2,000 just to admit her and wouldn't take her in or begin treatment until we confirmed payment. The evening staff was great and called to update me about her condition. The daytime staff was awful. I had to call several times for updates and even after requesting an update on my pet they would come to the phone discussing another pet and when I corrected them and again gave my pet's name they said "Oh I don't know, I haven't been back to check on her for awhile." Part of the $2,000 was a neuro consult. They wanted another $5,000 for a spinal tap and an MRI, while readily admitting that they didn't think she would survive the seizures as they weren't responding to the IV anti-seizure meds. When I balked at paying that much for a dog they thought wasn't going to live anyways I was asked, "what if it's rabies" There was no chance of rabies exposure. She'd been an inside dog from birth even though there were transfers of care through rescues. I was told that we could spend $5,000 to rule it out or "they could put her head in a box and send it to Richmond for testing". To say I was shocked and hurt is an understatement. The rescue was amazing, they helped with half the ER fees and took her back to their vet to get her help. Sadly, the seizures were too much for her and she had to be euthanized. Because the vet at the Hope Center mentioned rabies, she had to be tested for it. So as we waited for the results, I got to have "that" mental image in my head. In case they were curious, it was negative. The evening staff was amazing, but the day time staff left a lot to be desired and left some horrible emotional scars on our family with the flippant comment about how they would test for rabies. Our little girl deserved better than that and so did my family. UPDATE- The response said that they would personally reach out to me to address these concerns. Its been a week and I still have received no contact from them.

We brought our beloved beagle Amy to Hope Center where we had to put her to sleep after valiant efforts by the doctors there to make her well. They were all (the doctors, technicians, and persons answering the phones) very kind and patient. In particular we would like to thank Dr. Hawthorne for everything she did to help Amy. We will miss our sweet Amy always.

Great place to come for top notch veterinary care. I have read reviews that complain about fees & what not. I have never experienced overcharging or bad customer service. I have always had Wonderful helpful staff & great vets.

Dr. Adkins is incredibly sweet and informative. Most vets rush you off the phone when you have questions but she took her time in explaining everything to me. If you have any optomology issues for your pets you must see the best in the area.

A big thank you to Dr Caro in Emergency. I live in Atlanta but am staying in the area for a month. My golden retriever was throwing up and couldn't hold anything down. He was so lethargic and he never gets that way. I called Hope and they took him right in (you park in a numbered spot and a tech comes out to pick up your pet). Within an hour, I received two calls from Dr Caro about his x-ray results, diagnosis and continued care. It's such a relief to have such a professional, efficient solution for your pet care needs when you're away from home. Thanks Hope AVC!

The whole time I sat in the waiting room, I could hear the receptionists making fun of emergency callers who were distressed about their pets potentially dying in some emergency or another. They gave me a price estimate and hours later told me it would be $200 higher. When I balked at this, they said part of it could be taken off and done at my regular vet for much cheaper. When I asked what the risks were of waiting for my regular vet for those tests, they dodged my question repeatedly. I later consulted a veterinarian friend of a friend who told me the reason Hope said I should call a $65 hotline and come in (cat may have eaten a tiny piece of a grape) is actually something veterinarians use to get money out of pet owners and not a real risk.

I had to take my cat Zod in for an ultrasound. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were in and out in about 25 minutes as promised. I live about 2 hours away but this was the only place that could see him before December.

These people saved the life of my best friend. Rose, Stephanie, Dr. Ganjei, Dawn, Dr. McNeill, the emergency team are some of those real-life heroes who go on, each and every day, to quietly make the world a better place. Thank you for caring so much for these little fellas! I cannot think of these people without gratitude in my heart.

Omg, this place is staffed with Angels. During our scariest moment with our Pup, these folks show compassion for both furry ones and their parents! I cannot recommend them enough!

Five star for treating my furry baby well but just warning - please read the breakdown of invoice before admitting your pet carefully. I found several duplicate checks that doesn’t offer value, for instance, two blood checks that only shows red blood cells level (white cells value not available) and heart check whose results doesn’t mean anything (because cats in ER are so common to show odd heart measures due to infection/anxiety/etc). 36 hours visit and there’s a $3000+ bill waiting. Very pricy here but reliable if you have to

Our new puppy was not eating and had loose stool with blood. We rushed her to hope center. They did a great job dealing with her symptoms and she was discharged the next day. The cost was outrageous at $2k for a 24 hour stay. We were given a mail-in fecal sample kit. We mailed this in right away. We never received a call-back from Hope. The discharge instructions said they will call within 3-5 days with the results. We assumed everything was ok since no one called us back. Our reg vet did a fecal check and found giardia. I wondered if this was the cause of her hospital stay. I called Hope and was told her sample was positive for giardia. It had been a month since her hospital stay. We have an organ transplant recipient in our household who is immune suppressed and could have contacted giardia. Luckily we are very careful, cleaning and hand washing. The puppy also was suffering from lack of appetite and we just assumed it was her personality. She was mostly asymptomatic now of the giardia. Our vet is taking great care of her now and she has had her first round of antibiotics. I asked Hope to call me back to discuss the test result with a tech or Dr. Days later no one has called me. I emailed them as well and no response days later. I wanted to know about my pet's treatment for giardia and inform them of the breakdown in communication so they can remedy this before it happens to someone else. They dont care. I think Hope is overpriced, incompetent and has horrible customer service. They put my family's health and puppy's health in danger. Once I paid the bill, they stopped caring.

I really liked the staff here. They were super nice and checked our pup’s eye out after hours. They have an on call ophthalmologist who can help. Chewy left wagging his tail and feeling happy with the extra pets and some pain meds. Thank you for your help Hope Advanced!! UPDATED: I went back to Hope Advanced after a horrible series of experiences for my dog’s high eye pressure. Dr. Adkins is great, she gave me helpful advice and actually took time to understand how to help Chewy. She didn’t want to immediately move into drastic measures like surgery, instead wanted to give my big guy a fighting shot and time to heal from his updated treatment. I regret not coming here sooner and am so thankful that Hope Advanced is here to serve the DMV.

They are worth there services to help our family and our aging dog of 16. To give us a little more time with her. They helped us understand what’s going on with her and what we need to do for her. Thank y’all so much

My cocker spaniel had breathing/dry heaving issues. Being an "internet veterinarian" I realized this could be serious. Given that the next regular appoindt for our vet was a week away, which we had already been scheduled, we took our pet to Hope, which explained all the possible causes and didn't force unnecessary procedures. Our dog is fine and within the care of our regular vet now.

I’ve only had the pleasure of dealing with this Vet center once but I 1000% recommend! Amazing, friendly, helpful staff! I called their office while in their parking lot because I had the assumption my dog had kennel cough. Instead of trying to get me to pay hundreds in fees for a diagnosis, they directed me how to take care of my dog at home. My pup was feeling better within a few days with their advice. I’ve heard tons of stories of other vets charging hundreds to thousands of dollars for a diagnosis like this. Thank you for not taking advantage of people and actually caring!

Front desk staff is not professional over the phone. Voice seems very snappy and inconsiderate. Stating we're at capacity and we only deal with critically ill. How do you know my pet is not critically ill if you're not even thinking about seeing him? The way they talk to you is like they don't care. Figured the front desk staff they hire would be there cause they care about animals and not there to just have a job. Please retrain your staff in customer service.

Bad experience. They didn't take us back for a consult; did it in the waiting room without telling us their name or title. Left us waiting for a very long time even though we were the only ones there and were unprofessional; our dog had an accident and wasn't feeling well. It was cleaned immediately and a tech came up front and complained 3-4 times about the smell. Tried to charge us almost $1800 to give fluids and have our dog fast overnight. I came here because our vet recommended it but I will not be returning. Our dog who never barks, not even at the vet, was barking in the back as well.

Folks were super nice and understanding when a pet passed away, they didn't rush and were considerate in a stressful situation.

Great place, great doctors. But I do have a suggestion your facility may want to hire a security person because I have noticed alot of these customers are being rude and not only that but to the point they are making threats to the employees there. Hearing that grown man wanted to slap a young lady at your facility is unacceptable. That is a threat and if he did that would be an assault. This is just a concern I have for your employees and there safety. Maybe your managers need to have a meeting with employees on what to do when threatened. This is very concerning

Two dogs with complicated medical issues. We are regulars here. Far more ER trips than trips to their regular vet. We trust all the specialists at this hospital. They really listen to you and offers different treatment options. Been going here for a few years now. Very content with the care and services they provide.

I brought my dog here on Sunday night with a growth on her ear that was rapidly growing. She was seen by Dr. Maciejczyk, who was absolutely wonderful. From the looks of it, the growth was suspected to be cancerous. Dr Maciejczyk was thorough, thoughtful, compassionate and expense conscious during the entire process. News like that is devastating, and having someone to really walk you through it was a relief. Not only did she stay on the phone with me as long as I needed, but also answered the same questions over and over, and was so patient with me while I tried to gather myself. She went above & beyond for our girl just in case the cells did come back as cancerous. She began formulating a plan for her almost immediately, as well as wrote out clear instructions for my follow-up calls with her primary vet and an oncologist. I am so grateful for her kindness, knowledge and approach.

This place is amazing, truly. The doctors and staff are so caring, knowledgeable, and patient. I've had the misfortune of having to bring each of my cats here on separate occasions and both times I felt completely confident that my pets were in competent hands and that they would treat my pets as their own. Absolutely incredible, thank you all for saving my cats!
