My daughter adopted her dog from them in June 2014. The dog she saw on the website was the one she got. They were wonderful throughout the process. Unfortunately we had to put the dog down after having her a little over 7 years. She had become sick.

I adopted my puppy Kamau a month ago. I worked with Patty, Shannon, and Susan. I was approved within a few days of applying to adopt. Patty kept in touch with me and helped me through the entire process. Susan and Shannon also made sure I knew everything about my pup. I appreciate their honesty and about the health and behavior of the two dogs that I considered adopting. I was allowed to visit both dogs and each foster was welcoming and gave me plenty of advice and kept in touch with me throughout the process. My puppy came with up to date shots and the appropriate health records. Most importantly, he was healthy and well trained. I appreciate K-9 lifesavers for giving me the opportunity to adopt my precious fur baby. He’s a sweet and friendly puppy!

Working with K9 has been a pleasure! Michelle was my adoption coordinator and she was so informative, kind, and responded very quickly! She has answered all of my questions for rescuing my new puppy!

Nora from K9 Lifesavers helped us add the perfect little scruffy pup to our family. She was incredibly helpful through the whole process, and was very transparent about the adoption process. It was really great to hear feedback from the dog's foster family and we even got to meet the foster dad at the adoption event, so we could learn a bit more about our newest family member. We cannot thank Nora enough for helping us rescue our sweet doggy! I would recommend this rescue to anybody looking to rescue a dog in need. The interview process is important to ensure that the dogs are placed in the right home. I spent a good deal of time on the phone with Nora to learn more about our dog and so the rescue could learn more about us. It was thorough and our dog is the perfect fit for us!

They’re nice people with professional suggestions and I trust them. Although I haven’t adopted from them but I can wait till the right dog shows up.

I adopted my dog from K-9 Lifesavers in 2018 and the adoption process was smooth and they truly care about finding good homes for their dogs. My dog was heartworm positive (known before I adopted him) and they paid for and coordinated his treatment after adoption. My adoption coordinator was always available for questions and advice after the adoption too. Highly recommend rescuing a pup from here!

We just adopted the love of our lives from K-9 Lifesavers! We could not have had a better experience adopting our new dog. The organization goes through the entire application/approval process before you're able to meet/learn about any …

My family adopted a dog from here and after bringing her home it was apparent she was not a good fit with our other dogs or our young daughter (exhibited possessiveness with attention and aggressive behavior with any nearby food). We agonized over what to do and decided it would be best that she be returned as a different owner/family might be able to better meet her needs. The return process went smoothly until we asked to have the adoption fee waived since we didn’t have the dog even 24 hours. The adoption coordinator, Patty, threatened to sue us and send us to collections if we didn’t pay as promised. $450. Let me get this straight - we acknowledged the dog would be better suited for success with a different owner and we were incredibly embarrassed over the situation. But your first reaction is threats? Worse, I sent an email with a more detailed description of what occurred to management and they sent no reply. Complete lack of professionalism.

K9 Lifesavers has made the adoption process very easy. We are excited to be able to take our new pup home this week.

The best dog adoption agency in the DC area. They help save and treat dogs at kill shelters in the south, helping to land them in foster homes for forever home adoption.

I haven't adopted from them yet. But I have talked to them after filling out an application for adoption. They are awesome to work with and can't wait to meet them in person and adopt in the very near future! I would definitely recommend them to others.

This rescue like many small independent "rescue" organizations will post dogs on petfinder that are never available. They don't update their listings and they don't communicate with their applicants. I don't care how many applications you …

I rescued Dozer. Very happy day for me. The process is very quick if you get pre-approved. I would get my next dog from them.

This rescue is very nice to deal with. Once you are approved you can put your name in for a pet and they will bring it to an event so you can meet in person and see if you want the pet. Very easy process!

Don't waste your time! We are big into adopting animals in need in our family. We have never bought a pet from a breeder. Unfortunately we have had THE WORST experience with this rescue. We applied and tried to keep the lines of communication open. Sending emails every other day and just generally trying to be as involved in the process as possible to show how committed we are to adopting a pet. Unfortunately this "shelter" does not answer calls and all calls go to voice-mail. They assure you that you will be contacted. First lie. After your application is submitted good luck trying to get any further correspondence because it won't happen. Second lie. This "rescue" is impossible to get in contact with and its very sad because there must be so many pets in need that don't even get a chance to go to a good home because they can't send a simple email or respond to a phone call. In all honesty I believe they paid for their 5 star ratings because what they claim is just not true. Luckily I have a very nice breeder on call who has a puppy that can't be sold so we'll be adopting from her instead.
