ok, so they are a bit disorganized and might get things mixed up on the phone a lot, but the surgeons do amazing work. \

First, I want to say that we are pretty picky when it comes to care for our corgi. He is challenging both medically and behaviorally, and it's important to my husband and me that he is treated kindly in all situations despite his unique personality. ;) I am a certified positive reinforcement dog trainer, and that also contributes to what might make us "tough customers." I know that motivating cooperation instead of "forcing" cooperation is ideal not just in the moment, but for future medical visits. All of that said, we have been overwhelmed with Dr. Rasmussen in the oncology department and BluePearl. We have worked with her over more than three visits and for about a year. Each time, she has been incredibly respectful of my husband and me, answering all of our questions and concerns patiently and thoroughly. She shows both our little boy and us great compassion and understanding. We have so many questions, forging our way through the first cancer experience we've ever had, and Dr. Rasmussen has never spoken harshly or with exasperation. I have no doubt that our boy receives the best care that he can when he visits Dr. Rasmussen.

This place does thousands in testing, schedules surgery, has you bring in the pet to leave them all day and then doesn’t do the surgery because they were busy. No phone calls. Go elsewhere.

My family and I came here 3 years ago when our elderly dog Max had to be put to sleep. He was fine that very morning and by late afternoon/evening his legs gave out. He was 13 years old. Our primary vet clinic was closed that day. So we had an emergency ???? and found this place that was open. It was nice well kept beautiful looking interior but sadly wasn’t there for a happy occasion. If I had to come here again for an emergency I would come here.

We will be forever grateful to Dr. Mallory Repellin, and the BluePearl staff for the care they provided euthanizing our much loved 17yo shepherd mix Loki on Thanksgiving day. We were devastated to have been out of town for the holiday, but in conjunction with committed and compassionate pet care professionals from Olde Town Pet Resort in North Bethesda, they provided a loving and peaceful end of life experience for her. They even facilitated us to be there remotely via FaceTime so she could hear our voices, we could tell her we loved her, and say goodbye. Thanks too for working on the holiday to care for others, and going above and beyond for a pet her grieving family. Truly something to be thankful for.

Quick to get you in and a nightmare of a wait time and service. You pay extra for an emergency visit and they take forever to do a physical exam. Once they get back to you (in our case, 2.5 hours later), they give you a quote for pricing and time for what's need. We were told it would be 3.5 hours for an xray and the bill would be a certain dollar amount (or within 20%). After 6.5 hours later we were finally contacted with results of the xray, and we were sent a bill that was 50% more than what we were told. Just a bad experience with little to no answers. Of the answers we did get, they were short with little to no explanation.

My dog was treated in June in the emergency room. The $800 bill had to be paid in full before the treatment. Six months later, in the mail, I received a bill for the $800 which had already been paid in full plus interest. I called and left a message for the finance office and am awaiting a response. Not sure whether this is an embezzlement at BluePearl or a fleecing of the pet owners. BluePearl needs to immediately investigagte/audit its billings and collections for duplicate billing of its patients. State's AG and MC's attorney should look into whether there is systematic duplicate and/or overbilling issues at BluePearl.

I had a very bad experience at this Blue Pearl. I posted a long description on Yelp and I wanted to post on Google as well to warn other pet owners. I've been to 3 different vet hospitals with my injury-prone dog over the years, so I know the way the Blue Pearl staff and surgeons treated me and my dog was not normal or acceptable, to the point of malpractice. I ended up going to Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center and I can't recommend them enough, they were more than helpful. Save yourself time, worry, and money--do not take your pet to this Blue Pearl.

Having to put a member of the family down is never easy, but the staff was kind and thoughtful and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye.

The employees seemed nice but once my pup walked up to the property his hair was literally standing in his back til we left. The vet was friendly but anytime we asked questions they would beat around the bush and weren’t very clear. Obviously I asked more questions since I wasn’t getting any solid information. Then was told I was being “funny” for asking questions. Weird. After X-rays and other tests they recommended but we did not follow through with, they ultimately said they couldn’t help any further stating their surgeon was out till next week. So why did I spend almost $700 on tests if they couldn’t do anything further for a week? Seemed like a waste of time, especially since blue pearl is a specialty hospital. But I give the 1 star because I was very appreciative that they were able to send me to another vet that was perfect in every way.

I had an emergency situation on September 11th 2021, where I had to rush my 15 year old dog whom I had since he was a little over a month old to Blue Pearl. It was a Saturday and the only place that was open, and I had been there once before, where I received incredible care for him. This time I knew it was going to be the last time I took Him there, and let alone anywhere, he had been battling splenic cancer, kidney failure, and diabetes. I called them and Amanda Parson picked up the ER. It was almost as if my dog sensed my tears and panic, and the Universe had intentionally put her there at the exact moment and right time. She was compassionate even prior to my arrival. When I got there she rushed me into a beautiful and peacefully set up room, and ultimately we all sensed what was going to be best and have to happen. I had to put my best friend, and the only unconditional love I had been blessed with for 15 years down. He was suffering, a lot. The whole staff there is remarkable, but Amanda Parson is an Angel that my Dog sent me before leaving. She took care of the whole process, comforted me throughout the whole process, and even after. Her compassion was incomparable to any one whom had crossed paths with My Dog and I in 15 years. I ultimately had wanted to have him put down (if ever needed) by his Vet since 2 months old. BUT I AM SO THANKFUL AND GRATEFUL I CALLED Blue Pearl and AMANDA picked up that phone. She went above and beyond to make sure He was attended to with the best love and care, before being put down and well after throughout his Cremation process. She made sure I had all the information necessary to make the decision I felt would suit his needs best and made sure EVERYTHING ELSE WAS DONE WITH LOVE, CARE, AND COMPASSION- EVEN UP UNTIL AFTER I RECEIVED HIM BACK. She made me feel as much ease as I possibly could during this period of mourning. Even has kept in touch after to follow up. I honestly, understand that the death of a dog comes with the responsibility of the ownership of one. However, it was my first time experiencing this pain, guilt, and sorrow. So it didn’t and hasn’t made it easy at all for me. However, My Dog was full of Love and I know he wanted the process for me to be as easy as it potentially could. God blessed me with Him, and He blessed me with Blue Pearl and mainly Amanda Parson. I will recommend them forever and be thankful to them forever. ❤️????????????????????

WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PLACE !!! My dog was attacked and bitten several times by another dog roaming freely in my neighborhood. I called blue pearl and was told to bring him up immediately. When I got there I had to call for help at the door. I was then told that they would not take me because they were full( even though it had only been 20min since I called) I was left outside there front door with my dog bleeding profusely... they would not even come out or look at him. I was then told to try someplace else or (sarcastically) was told that I could try waiting 5 hours or so and come back, otherwise too bad and tuff luck.... NOT THE RESPONSE I WANT TO HEAR FROM AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!

Blue Pearl ER rocks! We live in Falls Church and NO ONE could see our baby girl for her injured foot. The emergency pet hospitals in our area were at capacity. We called from the road, let them know what happened and she was able to be treated for her injury. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR BEING THERE AND CARING FOR OUR PUP!!!!

Refused to see my dog late Sunday night, I explained that my beautiful dog was probably going to die if not seen immediately. I explained that I was also about 3 miles from their location. After asking repeatedly if there was nothing they could do I gave up - they referred me to a hospital in DC of Manassas VA. How kind and caring of them. Person on the phone was a jerk to say the least. I took my beautiful girl to Metropolitan animal Hospital in Rockville where we were seen immediately and experienced nothing but kindness and compassion.

This month I brought my cat to BluePearl, and promptly upon arrival the staff took her in for care. They also kindly provided me with water bottles and tissues as I waited in the waiting room which was extra service I did not expect, but greatly appreciated. What I appreciated the most though, was when I spoke with Dr. Randolph about my cat's diagnosis. He spent ~45mins on the phone with me, sharing with me salient information, and answering the many questions I had - I would say a question was my last and then follow-up with more. He demonstrated great patience and willingness to help. Dr. Randolph even provided tips and contact info for me transitioning my cat to an ER with fine needle aspirate services quickly (I had chosen to transfer her myself). He did not sugar coat any of the findings, and next steps were very clear.

I came here because my vet recommended it for weekend emergencies, after my puppy accidentally ingested something she should not have. They have some type of policy which requires you to wait six hours if by the time your dog walks through the door she seems alert and basically is not dying. I’m sure this works for someone whose emergency is such but for me, i just couldn’t wait and take the risk. I pointed out that there was absolutely no one in the parking lot or the waiting area but that didn’t matter. They still had to follow their policy. As a dog owner, you feel vulnerable, you don’t know what could happen and it looks like an emergency for YOU and after driving all the way over there they tell me that basically they can’t take you because my dog is not dying? That felt utterly awful. I’m not coming back ever

I don’t understand how they can call themselves an emergency vet. I called 3 other emergency vet hospitals who all told me they were at capacity for the night and would not be able to see us. After calling our regular vet the first place they recommended for emergencies was BluePearl, so I called to see if they would be able to check on my dog. They stated I would have to wait in the parking lot and it would be a 2-3 hour wait so I made the 50 minute drive just to be told at my arrival they had stopped service as another emergency had arrived. There were no other cars in the parking lot which is odd since I had been told over the phone I would need to wait in the parking lot while my pet was being checked out. The tech completed a wellness check and determined my dog had a fever but because he was “stable” we would have to take him to another hospital. When I originally called I was asked what was wrong with my dog and felt confident and reassured they would be able to help my dog feel better, that obviously changed after they declined to provide service.

I would NEVER recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone that is actually expecting their animal to be compassionately cared for. When we first arrived, the vet tech came curbside to take an intake. I took my dog out of car for him because as I told him she has anxiety. My dog refused to walk in or put weight on her back leg. Instead of compassionately approaching my dog or asking how she does being picked up. He aggressively picked my dog up. Now let’s get to the actual care part. The vet spent less than 5 mins with my dog. She called me stating she was discharging her with ointment for her ears as they did appear infected. In regards to my dog’s leg (the reason for the visit), she miraculously was walking for the vet so she didn’t do any further exam. She suggest I monitor her and if it got worse bring her to her vet for exam. The whole reason I brought my dog to urgent care was that I had been observing and it was getting progressively worse. At no time did they discuss charges or let me opt in or out of anything. But wait… the unprofessionalism gets better. So after waiting over an hour since they stated they were bringing my dog out for discharge I called back asking where my dog was and I was rudely told they were doing a procedure on her. One which the vet did not inform me of nor did I agree to. I asked that they discontinue treatment and return my dog to me. As the true professionals they are here, they hung up. I spent the next 30 mins fighting to have my dog released as the tech kept saying I couldn’t get my dog yet. It took me threatening to call police for them to release her. So I finally get my dog and she won’t walk out on her legs, but apparently she was walking fine for the vet? She is returned with no medications. I call the vet, who is even more unprofessional than the techs. She finally agrees to give me meds if I come back and pay. So I come back and pay. First off they sent my dogs vet records and bill to wrong person. So someone that should not have information about my pet or where I reside now does. I even informed them on checkin to remove that email and individual from patient account, but they were too busy not giving care, belittling their customers, and running up pet bills. So I try to pay and since they have all my dogs information wrong it won’t let me. So 40 mins later after their portal freezing 5 times I’m finally able to pay and get my meds. So in final, if you want less than 5 mins of vet care in which they will not listen to your concerns about your pet our evaluate them, want to wait over 2.5 hours to get your pet discharged and a vet bill with procedures/costs you did not agree to, and for your pet to leave still being ill this is the perfect vet for you. Every individual is rude. I truly think they harm more pets than they help. The individuals that work here have no level of compassion period. I will never take my pets here again and suggest you don’t either. There is a reason they were the only urgent care in the DMV not at capacity last night because pet owners know better than to risk their pets lives here. Also a reason that the reputable veterinary clinics didn’t recommend them as an option. There are much better options in this area for you and your pets. Oh and I almost forgot.. a vet that was not involved in my pets care looked at my LinkedIn. So clearly patient rights and privacy are not a practice at all here. My pets medical records were released to someone that should not have knowledge of my pet and now I’m being personally stalked by a vet that had nothing to do with my case. So clearly, myself and my pet were discussed which violates oh so many privacy laws. I will be reporting them as my safety and privacy were violated all in just trying to get care for my pet which my pet did not get and she still can’t walk. All because I advocated for my pet and wanted her removed from their care before they did more harm. So do yourself a favor and just don’t go here.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place for emergency care. The front desk staff were super friendly and sweet to me and Leo, Dr. Richard answered all my questions and made me feel at ease with my pup’s condition, and the facility was super clean with a spacious waiting room. I feel comfortable knowing that my dogs will be in excellent care for any future emergencies.

Will never bring my dog here again. They didn’t help my dog with his stomach issues! They rather take my money than help! They gave me a prescription for acid reflux to go buy at a grocery store, I never had to go out and buy the medication for him! Especially when thats not what he had and they PRESSURE you into trying to get you to do what they want!! I bought my dog here before for the same issue and they gave me the same meds that’s helped him and now they rather do other stuff that doesn’t involve in helping him in what he has! This is a terrible place! A waste of time & money.

My daughter recommended taking Shadow to Blue Pearl when his vet at Greenbriar found a high white blood count in his senior check-up. My husband and I have been impressed with the highly skilled, kind and caring staff in the Oncology Department at Blue Pearl. Shadow has been diagnosed with leukemia and been treated for this acute illness since February. We feel that Shadow has been given the best care possible enabling him to battle this disease.

Best place ever. Special thanks to Dr. Abby Speas, Dr. Breiteneicher(Dr.B) and all the nurses and technicians. My cat needed surgery to remove a benign tumor on her neck, this included consultations, CT scan, Heart radiology and surgery. The staff are wonderful and the surgery was very successful. I am 100% happy with everything. This is an amazing place!

We are so grateful for the care our beloved Simon Cat received at Blue Pearl. He had a health emergency two nights ago and we didn't know where to go. We found Blue Pearl and raced him over. They kept him overnight, identified that it was neurological, and in the morning called on our behalf to help us get in with an emergency veterinary neurologist. We want to thank Dr. Chivvis and Dr. Gehrke for all their expertise and support during a heartbreaking time for us. Because of their compassion and efforts we were able to let him go gently knowing we did everything we possibly could for him. We are also grateful to the desk and nursing staff for helping take care of our fur child. Thank you.

My dog Sephora developed a high fever and I took her to Blue Pearl in the middle of the night for help. The team was great and got her back quickly and checked her in. The quickly informed me that she would definitely need to be admitted and that I was free to go home and they would call us frequently with updates. Dr. Williams took care of her overnight and kept in good communication with me several times throughout the night. He was very thorough in explaining everything and patient with me (very anxious momma). He took the time to answer all my list of questions. He was very aware that this could be a very unexpected costly visit for my baby girl and he did what he could to keep cost down by doing only what absolutely necessary to diagnosis and treat my baby girl. Dr. Thompson took over during the day and was equally as impressive. She also took time to go over all her labs and plan of care and was receptive to my input as well. Dr. Ban was also involved in her care but I did not have the opportunity to speak with this provider but thank you for your help. Last but certainly not least, although I didn't have much communication with the Vet Techs, they worked very hard together with Dr. Williams and Thompson to nurse my baby girl back to health. Thank you Kailee, Mike, Mariam and Vanessa for taking such good care of my baby! -- Julia (and Sephora)

I have been blind-sided by extra fees literally every time I've had to take my dog here. The surgeon seems skilled but the service is horrible. They've surprised me with fees at every visit or checkup since the surgery. EX, I was told her follow up would be included in the surgery cost only to take her today and find out that the checkup is included but not any of the scans. And of course they didn't tell me that till after they were done. So I still owe over $100 dollars before I can pick my dog up.

My husband and I brought our sweet cat here for an emergency health issue. Unfortunately her prognosis was grave and we had to put her down. The staff at BluePearl made what was a very tough, sad situation easier to handle. The doctor and techs were very compassionate, explained her condition clearly and answered all of our questions. We were able to take the time we needed and cuddle with her through the end. I felt comforted knowing we made the best choice for our fury friend. Thanks, BluePearl. ????

Trying to get medical care for your furry best friend can be absolutely terrifying, and so after my best friend in the world was diagnosed with a copper storage disorder in his liver - the stress was unbelievable. And it was compounded when the first vet I took him to, the other specialist in the immediate area, constantly got his appointments confused and then told me that I didn't need to worry about copper from my pipes, when my primary care vet confirmed that I did. So I had been paying them to slowly poison my dog, and came over to Blue Pearl and Dr. Dowling. Which is one of the single best decisions I've ever made in my life, since not only is the entire staff incredibly well-informed and courteous, even going out of the way to reschedule appointments around snow-storms, but Dr. Dowling has given my dog better care than I feel like I've ever received from any of my own doctors. Every single score on every test result is explained, and we discuss different options for handling all of it. I went from pulling out my hair to just petting his, I can't say enough about how awesome the entire staff is. I believe Dr. Dowling just moved across state lines, but I feel like she left me in wonderful hands, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the care Rollo's gotten from the entire staff. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
