The young lady Ashley is real rude always running her mouth and don’t care how she talk to the customers she really disrespected me today I came in to get my dogs shots and she shut the door in my face and told me she don’t know what to tell me the waiting list is full for today I don’t know what to tell her response was real rude and the business hours on the website is a lie They make they on time up .great doctor the lady at the front desk is great. They need to work on new management team in new business hours it’s really confusing people and wasting peoples time when we going off the website the website business say 9 to 12:30 they are closing at 10:30 and 11????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

With two locations in DC this organization does fantastic work leveraging volunteers to improve the general welfare of animals, mostly dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small pets. In addition to offering rescued dogs and cats for adoption, they also provide health and vaccination clinics and a host of support services. There is a wonderful atmosphere devotion and dedication within this organization. Your pet and any concerns about their welfare are the focus of HRA’s staff and volunteers attention.

Most professional, organized animal rescue I have seen. Great foster program as well as other. We fostered a dog and ended up adopting him. The amount of support was nothing short of amazing.

Would not entertain adoption because they were at lunch. I was totally judged literally at the door. I guess the appetite of the staff at 3:30pm is more important than adoption. Not professional towards me.

Look who I picked up at the adoption place. His name was Angel. Now he is called Bumba. He is 3 and a great companion. The process was easy and I really enjoyed the experience.

Very COVID conscious, but did not give us very helpful instructions or even advice on administering medications to our adopted cat. Also, the main area (the only place we were allowed in) smelled strongly of urine which was not amazing. However, the staff was professional and didn't keep us waiting too long and our new companion is amazing!

What a waste of valuable time. I put in an application for a cat 2 days before another person, but my application went ignored because of an upcoming live event. A person who showed up 20 minutes before I did, put in an application 2 days after I did but was somehow "first in line." No one explained this odd timing scenario and it is not posted on their site so I drove across town 45 minutes for no reason. Then the lead had the nerve to suggest that I was confused. I was insulted and turned off by everything about this experience. People want to adopt animals but places like this make it undesirable. Shame on HRA. If I ever donate to an organization, it won't be HRA

Since moving to DC, the HRA/WARL have been a GO TO place for me to re-center and surround myself with unconditional love from Man's Best Friend. This organization is amazing, and does making things for our fur babies. Thank you.

Horrible organization. Recommended euthanasia for my sweet puppy for absolutely no reason. They literally take cats and release them into random neighborhoods in the city and its an actual program... releasing strays onto the street... This place should be promptly shut down

I would give them - star if I could. They took advantage son with my dear grand puppy. The puppy was sick. My son was in the process of of getting insurance for her. She had an appointment at the animal doctor in two weeks, however because she was so sickly. He took her to several animal hospitals. They all wanted a substantial amount of money to treat her. My son last option was to take her to Humane Society thinking they will assist him where he could make payments. Humane Society had my son to sign her over to them. My son didn't want her to die so he signed her over to them They fixed her stating that was their policy. My son who just went back to work was unable to pay their fee and my grand puppy was adopted off to a family. This has been very stressful on my family. My son dearly loved my grandpuppy and so did we

All I would say is save your time and save your energy. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO ADOPT FROM. After giving me and my family false hope they’ve accepted our donations, lied to us about the adoption and medical records, and finally decided that we shouldn’t have animals at all due to our past pet laying down from his actual life span years. They will judge your history of having pets and lie to you about why you can’t adopt. They are very picky and I feel like this was based off our races. The staff member JACOB needs to be fired for his irresponsible conduct. He caused me to cry due to his demanding tone, he tried to quiet me as I was mentioning my feelings, he called my family liars, and so much more. He was the worst person i’ve ever met and wish I could unmeet him. I felt like it was all due to our family not being from here and race. He needs to be seriously dealt with as he lied about so much regrading the pet I wanted to adopt. He has caused trauma and depression amongst our family. Stay away and find other great places that will give you your forever friend.

How do I pick a compatible family dog from a picture on a website? We're not choosing an animal for its looks. We're looking for manageable temperament.
