We were referred by our vet. Our 5 year old male cat had a urinary blockage. The vet said he would die from this if we didnt do anything. They wanted $4000. Wow. Being on a fixed income we couldn't afford this. Just found this hard to …

Great experience! Our puppy swallowed a toy whole on Christmas Eve. We came down from Frederick and seen promptly. Luckily we avoided surgery because the docs and techs gave the time to try regurgitation which finally worked! Everyone was …

To say we had a positive experience with this hospital is an understatement; our experience with VRA was nothing short of stellar. The two neurologists we worked with - Dr Kaiman and Dr Greenebaum - were so kind and attentive. We never felt …

Wonderful experience here - my dog had surgery to open his larynx so he could breathe freely again. He is 4 days post surgery now and doing great - I was given extensive instructions to make sure he has the best recovery. Very easy to follow and he is so much more relaxed and happy now. Everyone was very informative and responsive - would recommend VRA to anyone.

I cannot express how professional, empathic, and caring the office staff and doctors were. I got my dog euthanasia because of kidney stones. The entire staff helped me with this traumatic event. I was sad and I appreciate the time they let me cry in the office and were very patient with me.

We've had our jazzy since 2010 when she was just a puppy our hearts is broken to pieces this loss is hard on us. So, Thank you????

Everyone was wonderful to work with. Our Frenchy Truman was treated and the care and knowledge was outstanding. Dr. Crumley the Ophthalmologist specialist did everything he could to explain and work with us to get Truman back in line. They care and the facility is very nice too.

Dr. Mitterman did such a nice job with Davis's surgery (FHO). He's made a speedy recovery.

Was the wait long? Yes but it is posted when you walk in. But if you are truly having an emergency, you wait. Once seen. Stella was made comfortable. Surgery scheduled for the next day.

I can't say enough good things about VRA. Right now my chihuahua is seeing Dr. Reese for a spine issue and Lisa for weekly PT and they're both so attentive and caring and really know their stuff. I also brought my late dog in for several emergency situations at the end of her life and they took wonderful care of her and were so compassionate with both her and with me. Everyone from the front desk staff to the techs to the doctors are caring and professional and I highly recommend VRA both for emergency and specialty care. I know this is such a stressful time for the veterinary profession - a shortage of staff, a pandemic, pet parents being stressed out - and just wanted to say thank you for everything you do.

Very clean office, very nice staff, and a very good doctor. It broke my heart I that my kitten needed a neurologist, so it was a pleasant surprise to find such a great practice. I was able to schedule an appointment fairly quickly and they emailed me the intake packet to fill out at home (I love when doctor's offices do that). The appointment was kept on time. The doctor watched the videos of my kitten's movements and did a thorough workup with him. She chose a conservative approach with careful monitoring. Finally, I was emailed a complete medical summary of my kitten's visit, the doctor's workup, and her impressions, diagnosis, prognosis, and recommendations. I was thoroughly impressed with this practice.

Dr. Mitterman and their team are WONDERFUL! Our dog Darla was limping intermittently and we took her in for a consult. Dr. Mitterman took time to really love on her and then explain Darla's diagnosis to me, answering all of my questions. It turns out that Darla needed surgery on both knees to repair them. It was an expensive endeavor, but would have been expensive anywhere we went. The whole process (that we went through twice) was made so much more bearable by the kindness of Dr. Mitterman and everyone they work with. The friendly people at the front desk act with such patience and care, the technicians (shout out to Jessica) clearly love dogs, and when I had questions about my bill several people were willing to look it over with me. Leaving your baby overnight is never fun, but it was so much easier to do so at a place that we trust. We are excited for Darla to live a long life full of playing and hiking thanks to these thorough surgeries. Thank you, VRA!

Best Veterinary service I've had for our cats! Front desk staff, Margaret, and Dr. Conway, have all been terrific with their professional and empathic specialty care. Wish they provided routine veterinary services!

Our Dog was admitted to VRA on day after thanksgiving. We didn't realized that she was in critical condition until the Doctor on duty at that day at the hospital apprised us. We had to leave her at the hospital for six days. This was the first time she stayed out of our house. We received the first comprehensive update from Dr. Williams. He patiently address numerous questions we ask and he was kind and caring and inform us that our dog's care would be transferred to Dr. Lechner on Monday. Then, we started receiving daily updates twice a day from Dr. Lechner. He was really good at providing updates and patiently address numerous questions we ask everyday during daily updates. We also realized that our dog was in good hands because we knew he really care about the well being our dog and his only goal was to ensure our dog recover and to release from the hospital. After our dog returned home, we had to take the dog back to the hospital for follow up visits and Dr. Lechner would share the blood test KPI written on a white board and analyze the data to show the progress our dog has made and he was thrilled to share good news with me. The hospital would send phots of our dog which we really appreciated because we missed our dog. One occasion I had to request Dr. Lechner to send us a photo of our our dog and he said he will take care of it. We never received a photo that evening. The following morning Dr. Lechner asked me did you receive a photo of your dog and I said no and I was surprised he remembered our request previous night and also he exhibited his kindness to us. Soon after the morning update, we received a photo of our dog. Our dog continue to improve while we had few setbacks. However, I strongly believe under Dr. Lechner's care, our dog is going to fully recover. This has been not easy for us. However, Dr. Lechner and his team have provided excellent care to our dog and Dr. Lechner has exhibited excellent professional skills such as kindness, caring, and expertise in our dog's illness. Also, VRA entire staff including the techs and front staff have been friendly and caring. Finally, I would like to wish Dr. Lechner, his staff, and the entire VRA community Happy, Healthy, and Safe Holiday.

This was the first time my cat had medical treatment. This required her to be there for 5 days. They called every day with an update. The entire staff and Dr. Conway is great and so caring.

Extremely sweet and caring staff. Brought my 10 year husky there for treatment as she has been battling cancer all year. Despite not being able to save my baby the staff was beyond helpful. The Vet handling her case was so determined to help us and answered all of our questions. I want to sincerely thank the staff for doing all they could for my baby Zoey and I can't recommend them enough. Excellent facility and wonderful staff. Please don't hesitate to take your companion to the vet please don't wait for signs - prevention is key in some of these life threatening cases in saving their life or being able to provide them quality of life in their final days. ????????????

VRA is the place I go. Along the years, I unfortunately had to go many times for emergencies. The quality and professionalism are constant and have been over the years. Dr. Conway is an amazing internist. She saw one of my dogs recently. The rehab is amazing. Two of my dogs are currently going. I can’t say enough about the care and help I got from them. Erin at rehab became my dog’s favorite human! CVCA and Synergy at this location are also the best and we go there as well. For some places around DC, services vary depending of the vets and staff there at the day you are going. Not at VRA. Constant amazing services. I have been going since they were at “the barn”. Sometimes you have one shot at making your pet better or save him/her and you can’t make a mistake. That’s why I go there. Because sometimes you just have one shot.

I took my dog here several months ago, where he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer and where chemotherapy was not recommended. This review is neither about his diagnosis or prognosis, or care received - while extremely expensive, the staff was competent. Rather, this is about how this hospital chose to use my email address. My dog, now deceased, was seen during covid “please stay in your car” times. They obtained my email for invoicing purposes. They also decided it was a good idea, as the institution that told me my relatively young dog was dying, soon, and there was nothing we could do about it, to also put me on their email advertisements list. If you had any doubt that this place is about money and operating as a retail business instead of a medical institution, tactlessly sending me advertisements about their services and discounts for my dead dog should confirm it to you. This should not be something that is automatically done. I should not have to hunt for an unsubscribe button. I should not have to be reminded on that day. If they are going to do this, they should ASK. And if notice of consent was hidden in the fine print of documents I signed while crying my eyes out about losing my best friend: shame on you even more.

My dog's eye had popped out and the ER had told us the situation was hopeless and that he would have to have the eye removed. We brought him here and Dr. Bill Crumley was able to operate successfully and return the eye to it's natural position and recover his vision. We cannot thank Dr Crumley and the staff enough for saving our pup's eye!

Though this location is rather pricey and the wait was understandably lengthy due to the cases being brought in, The service was top-notch, with very caring and friendly staff. They walked me through and kept me updated with each step.

I had a terrible experience. The lady at the front desk is sarcastic and has a know it all attitude and would not let people talk and the young black guy has a very smart mouth unfortunately, i had to witness how he was instigating a customer that was upset about being overcharged. These kids do not know what compassion is! You have to understand that you have to deal with people go through a rollercoaster of emotions! they are worried about their pets and at the same time they are concern about how they are going to pay for the bill and for them to be instigating people instead of helping them it just shows how immature these people are. Do not take your dogs here!
