That place in falls church VA on route 50 is the worst and they all charge a lot the woman who is an American in the front desde has a very bad attitude and doesn't want to help I don't know how they can have someone like her serving customers I'm with banfield 16 years and I have never seen people so unprofessional that they have no respect for the clients that place is not trustworthy to take your pet if the clients treat them like that what they can do to an innocent little animal that cannot complain

I've had Banfield for one of my cats for over two years and I've been happy with the service, though sometimes it is hard to get through to someone. I took in an elderly cat and signed him up with Banfield, which was a big mistake. I signed up for a more expensive plan since I knew he had some medical issues. Well 2 months into the plan my cat passed away, as hard as that was Banfield made it even worse. I cannot cancel my plan for him, nobody ever told me you cannot cancel a plan. So I am stuck paying for an expensive monthly plan that I cannot use and if I choose to cancel the plan they charge me for the full year either way. They claim the plan is a good way to distribute medical costs over a year period, but what use is that for a pet that has passed? I didn't use all the services that are included in the plan since my poor guy passed away less than two months into the plan year, but I am still stuck paying monthly or paying for the full year in one lump sum. If anyone at Banfield ever mentioned that you cannot simply cancel a plan I NEVER would have signed up since I knew he had some major issues. This is what people mean when they say "adding insult to injury" It is a monthly reminder that my poor guy is gone and I'm throwing money away on his behalf. I will cancel the plan for my other cat as soon as I can which wont be until September 2022. Again they claim the cost is to distribute the cost over care over a year period... My cat is passed away, he had one visit from Banfield what costs are you claiming to distribute? There is no more care he can receive. The hollow canned response DOES NOT help.

I do not trust this location with the life and health of my dog. Go somewhere else! This location has screwed up soooo many times. They continually screwed up crucial information about my puppy, his health status, his vaccines, our insurance plan, etc. They also couldn't get us in for 3 days when we had a puppy with stomach problems and told us "Good luck"............ ***Bruno at the front desk deserves a standing ovation for trying to clear up the messes his team made.

I took my cat in for a simple 15 minute travel health certificate and rabies booster. $320 dollars. This is absurd. I dropped her off at 8 am, they said they would notify me when done; by 5:45 (closes at 6 pm) they had not called me. I had tried calling several times, waiting on hold for forever, and yet was never able to reach anyone. How does it take 10 hours for them to do a 15 minute check up and vaccine??? What absurdity is this? My poor cat was shaking afterward from having to be stuck in a crate surrounded by dogs the entire day. And, how could a 15 mn appointment cost $300??? Can someone explain? This place is terrible and I highly don't recommend.

I went to Banfield pet hospital falls church with my puppy and I ended up angry and disappointed. Very bad service from the guy that was taking my information, the vet doctors were all laughing and cheating while the waiting room was full and when they gave me the prices I had to pay for a healthy puppy checkup OMG not even humans pay this amounts of money.

*update: while it seems they were responsive given their note below, I have yet to hear back from them when I did email them per their request. So much for escalating the issue. Their customer service just isn’t good. And it continues to decline. It’s usually impossible to get someone to pick up on the first 4-5 calls. And once scheduled you get about a 10 hour window for when to pick up your pet. Really difficult to plan your day that way especially when they push for a ‘drop off’ vs appt because they failed to properly set up the appt the first go round. My dog has been at his current appointment (which is just an annual check up) for the past 5 hours and they told me to give them another 2 before knowing when he’ll be available for pick up. Which means he’s been sitting in a crate for the majority of the day. Ridiculous. Waiting for my pups wellness plan to end then I’m going somewhere else.

While having a pet hospital at Petsmart is convenient, this pet hospital is all about sales. Sales come before the pet and their owner. I was part of their wellness program which they claimed "helps save you money." Instead, I paid an additional $40 a month (tied to a year long-contract), plus a premium vet fee to conduct routine visits. I recall a few instances, when I was urged to do multiple procedures on my pet and increase the membership to get more "savings." I was also recommended to do multiple unnecessary exams, which ended up being very expensive. Overall, I found that at my local vet, I paid half the price for the same procedures. If you are looking for savings, go to your local vet first. You'll be charged less than at this chain that hounds sales. Additionally, my dog is a rescue, and unfortunately, is animal aggressive. At this particular pet hospital, the employees did not help me during an appointment when I notified them of my dog being animal aggressive. I stepped to the side of the line to create distance between my dog and other animals. The people at the front desk allowed multiple people to cut in line in front of me before allowing me to check-in my dog. A total of an hour went by and it wasn't until my dog began causing ruckus that a third employee came by to assist and finally helped me check-in. This scene, could have been easily prevented. As you can imagine, this event ended up causing my dog more stress, and caused me to arrive later than planned to work. After this instance, Banfield recommended that my pet stay at home rather than see the vet for medical needs. Both price and lack of organization of the pet hospital have motivated me to switch pet hospitals. My past and current vets, have dealt with my dog's emotional needs in a professional manner. I simply notify them beforehand that my pet is animal aggressive, and once I arrive, I am able to take my dog through a side door or through the back to reduce stress. And, my pet is always welcomed. I hope Banefield can improve their organization. And, I hope the company can begin to prioritize pets and their health. ‐------ Update: Be careful with their contract because it auto renews and they will continue to charge you.

This location loves hanging up customers. Staff completely hates their jobs due to the attitude they provide when doing any little task. Meds are overpriced, so I order them from chewy. It's been 2 weeks this location has been reached for approval of prescription. Had to cancel rx order and send approval to a non-banfield location who thankfully approved it same day. This is a chain, therefore they do not care about your pets!AVOID this location.

Absolutely love them! They take great care of your little companions. I had used them before in another Banfield and had a difficult time with an aging Yorkie. Was not happy with her care there and lack of a prognosis so I stopped using them. Moved back to Northern VA and after price comparisons with other local vets decided to give this location a try. I am very happy with the care they give my 4 month old Dobie mix, Pixie. #pixiedust_from_thepotomac She is happy, healthy and well cared for by them. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, understanding, and empathetic. When my 15 yr old Yorkie passed away in his sleep recently, I called them about cremation. Not a problem. They allowed me time to say goodbye and helped me to deal with his passing. I/we were treated with dignity and respect. Thank you Banfield of Falls Church. May we have a long and happy relationship ❤!

Do not recommend. We took out puppy here are multiple occasions after he got Giardia from the dog park. We NEVER ONCE spoke to his actual vet. It was always a vet assistant who called us to give us about his diagnosis/ treatment plan. Every time I asked a question they would have to go check with the vet.. it was like a game of telephone. We also NEVER ONCE were able to schedule a timed appointment. We were told that vet wasn't doing timed appointments until after her July 4 vacation, so instead we were forced to drop him off at 9am and have him wait in their crate for HOURS until she had time to see him. No matter how far in advance we scheduled him appointments this was always the case. Lastly, 90% of the time when we picked him up a vet assistant would bring him out and it wasn't even the one who worked on his case!!! It would be a random vet assistant who knew nothing about our dog or his condition. After multiple visits for Giardia with no sign of improvement, we took him to new vet and saw immediate improvement. I'm sure there are other Banfield locations that are great, this is not one of them. We wasted TIME and our dog remained SICK because he wasn't receiving proper care. We also wasted so much money on the multiple visits. Help your dog and go somewhere else.

I have visited this Benfield Pet Hospital location several times with cats and a dog and every time I left feeling annoyed by the way Benfield front desk staff treated me. Today they called us about our dog and left a message while our dog was at Benfield. My wife called them back quickly, but had to leave a message because no one at Benfield picked up (during work hours). Benfield staff did not bother listening to my wife’s message, but complained to me that they called us twice and we did not pick up. Consequently nothing was done to the dog at Benfield because they did not listen to the message. The Benfield front desk person moaned to me about having eight recorded voice messages waiting to be heard by them and that they are too understaffed to listen to messages. I suggested that Benfield staff should close its voicemail box if they are not checking messages from customers, but the front desk clerk said she did know how to do that and refused to change her practice. So don’t brother calling them! Better yet don’t bother taking your pet there because they don’t have time to deal with the workload they already have.

Don't buy Health care service. I used their service for 5 years for $35 a month, then I had a credit card number change and missed payment for couple of months, they sent to collection agency to collet $350 from me for my future 10 months worth of services, but they don't even reinstate my service. I paid and will never go back to Banfield.

DO NOT come here if you value your pets health. I took my 2 y/o lab mix for his comprehensive visit on 8/14 where they cleaned his ears (I asked for this—not expecting him to be returned to me in worse condition than when he was brought to them). Immediately after his visit he had ear irritation which has now turned into a skin infection. I had to bring him for a follow up appt. I dropped him off at 8:30 am for his follow up visit, and by 3:30 pm and they still had not called with a status update. The update I was given (at 4:15 pm) was that my dog just had bad allergies and that he scratched his ear too much. I had to demand they test for different infections before it is ruled allergies and lo and behold after requesting they take another look it is indeed a skin infection and my dog will need antibiotics. If you value a vet who cares for your dog, is timely, and sanitary DO NOT bring them here. My dog has never had any health issues before this, and we will definitely not be returning to this location.

I’ve had a plan with Banfield for ~9 years, but first time using this location. I took my cat in for a comprehensive exam here and let them know I was very concerned about him having an ear infection. They seemed to disregard that concern altogether. They did take an ear swab sample, but never told me about the results or if/when I should hear back. I paid for an ear cleaning and his ears are still absolutely disgusting right when I picked him up, so I’m pretty sure you’re just flushing money down the drain here. They gave him lots of other tests and exams, but again, no results provided or explanations of when I should expect to hear back. I gave them my phone number 4 different times including when I dropped him off and they called the wrong number 3 out of the 3 times they called me. They didn’t return my pets collar, so in rush hour traffic I had to turn around to get it. The ONLY thing that was good about my experience was when I dropped my cat off, they told me a joke that made me laugh…

They were great at the beginning when my pup was small and new. But they botched her spay surgery, blamed me for it, and I had to pay for the revision surgery out of pocket. I never even got an apology (which doesn’t surprise me bc then they would be admitting they did something wrong). Ever since they’ve tried to milk me for money on unnecessary stuff as much as possible. I dropped my dog off for one vaccine and it took all day for them to get it done. My puppy wellness plan ends Sept 1st and we will not be coming back.

This location will neglect your dog while your dog is waiting for service. Do not bring your pet to this location. Their service is horrible now !

They have steadily declined, not just because of the pandemic but that didn't help, it's almost impossible to get a human on the phone initially, and they will book you for what they think is a convenient drop-off appointment where you will have to go back later and pick up the pet and never talked to the vet. Does not help if you are on their Wellness Plan Insurance. That's the service you get if you are paying them every month already.

Customer service poor, not patience, and helpful at all. After calling this location in the morning and afternoon I took my dog for a check in the evening. She started to limp suddenly, very concern I asked the guy if the vet can take a look to her leg and he said that at the moment they can't that they were about to close. He didn't even bother asked the vet, and when I asked for an alternate day he said with appointment in two weeks, really? He didn't even check in the system. At the same time, I took someone else to get a quote for a puppy, they only give price with no explanation. This place is really expensive, I paid a lot and giving that poor service it is not fair. I called to Tysons location and the lady was really nice, she took the time to find a spot for my dog, and she said that I can drop her out the next day. I definitely recommend this location. At the beginning I used to take her over there, but I decided to change because it was further, now after this incident I will definitely take her back there, I never had issues before.

Very good bed and clean room. Good breakfast too. Maybe do turkey sausage smithfield breakfasts for the sandwhiches instead of pork. I had an overall good experience.

They almost killed our dog by not providing the right amount of anesthesia- they ended up telling us they couldn’t do the procedure because she has a heart condition - our dog doesn’t have a heart condition ( confirmed by a cardiologist). They ended up charging us more, and when we asked why they said because we were trying not “kill your dog” very insensitive and unprofessional and the vet didn’t even have the decency to come out and talk to me about it - she kept sending her assistant out! Horrible experience If you like your dog and cat do not take them here

We took our two cats to Banfield for routine physicals and vaccines recently, and did not have a positive experience. The service we received was subpar at best (negligent, or even legitimately harmful at worst). The staff all seemed perfectly nice and were helpful upon check in. However, they informed me that they would be unable to fit both in until several hours later than scheduled due to emergency issues with other patients. So they offered to let me drop the cats off and return as soon as their exams and shots were complete later that day. Not ideal. But fine. When I returned a few hours later, I paid them a ridiculous amount of money for the two simple exams and shots (over $300), successfully fended off their annoying additional efforts to sell me on hundreds of dollars more in unnecessary products and services, then left with my poor, scared cats. When we arrived home 10 minutes later, I noticed one of them was drooling profusely, visibly shaking and wheezing terribly. I called back and they said it sounded like anaphylaxis and told me to return immediately for emergency treatment. I flew back in record time and they treated him promptly with an IV and antihistamines to restore his breathing and treat the extreme reaction, which they attributed to an unexpected allergic response to the vaccines. Luckily, it worked and he seemed fine fairly quickly, but I don’t understand how this happened, as he has never had an allergic reaction before. The vet explained that this was actually common in older cats, which at 12 he certainly is, but if that is the case why not keep him a bit longer for observation after administering the vaccines in the first place? I would have been happy to do that if necessary or even suggested as an additional measure for older cats at greater risk of vaccine intolerance of any kind. They never mentioned this as a possibility or even suggested I keep an eye on them at home for any issues when I checked out initially. If it’s common at all then at least some monitoring afterward should be standard practice for animals over a certain age. It was not at all here, and he could have died as a result. Luckily he didn’t and all was ok. That time anyway. But of course they charged us another $200 for treatment of the reaction. And then, after saying he was fine to go home that night (and since they don’t have overnight care there), they tried to insist we bring him back the next day for monitoring, "just in case." When I asked how much that would cost and if it was truly necessary, they were vague and said it would probably cost a "small additional hospitalization fee of only $100-$200." ?!?! When they finally admitted that this monitoring was indeed unnecessary, I declined the service, and he was completely fine at home. But I paid over $500 that day for two well-cat visits, and could easily have paid more if I'd followed their full “recommendations.” And worst, they failed to monitor them properly after the vaccines, which could have been disastrous if I lived further away or failed to see the problem quickly enough. I don't know if they actually did anything medically wrong, necessarily, but it certainly wasn't a good experience overall. We'll be going elsewhere in the future.
