Had a total of five surgeries on two different dogs knees,.if you take your dog here with a limp, you will have to have a implant surgery. Will not try any thing else, will go right for implant surgery. It cost the most, have spent thousands of dollars here. We were a little late paying our last payment and was it was going to be turned over to a collection agency. That did it for me, they only concerned not for dogs, but the money, go at your risk. My dogs knees are worse than ever

My Titus means the world to me and his sudden vomiting and lethargy was worrisome. He was treated quickly and everything was explained. He didn't require surgery for a small obstruction but Dr. Freedman watched him closely and communicated what the options were. Very pleased with the care and the staff at Albermarle Vet!

Can’t praise enough Dr. Freedman and his staff. For the last 15 years Dr. Freedman has provided second opinions, diagnosed and treated our Portuguese Water Dogs using the most advanced techniques as well as common sense and kindness. Well worth driving from Richmond to get expert opinion from Someone you can trust.

I opted for this practice when I moved to town, based on positive reviews. My cat had been well-monitored by my hometown vet, so I was surprised when off the bat, this practice recommended expensive oral surgery, but I went with it — it may well have been necessary. I liked them and their interactions with my pet. During the third oral surgery on my otherwise healthy 12 year-old cat, I realized they had told me she was sedated at about 9, but at 12 I still hadn’t heard anything. After the surgery, she was horribly ill, and records later verified that she had been sedated for three hours and twenty-five minutes. My hometown vet and a human surgeon friend were appalled. My cat rebounded but has never fully been the same. (Edit: The issue was discussed extensively in person in 2018; just had reason to review the records in 2021 and, when I saw the verification of the anesthesia time in the records, decided it was worth a review.)

They are always helpful, prompt and, most importantly, genuinely care about my animals when I bring them in.

I was referred to Dr Freedman after our dog was hit by a car and broke her pelvis. Even though I wasn’t a client at Dr Freedmans he still took the time after hours to answer calls, emails, and figured out the right medication to put her on to make her urinate on her own and to get her catheter out after 3 long weeks. After 2 other offices couldn’t figure it out he did!! When Dr Freedman and staff finally met Genie yesterday all of them were beyond exceptional from the receptionist to the vet techs they are very loving and caring. We were not rushed in any way with our appt time. We got great news on not needing surgery at this time which other Drs said she would need ASAP. They truly are all about you fur babies. We have found our new Vet!!!

I am so impressed with the team at VCA Albemarle Vet. My sweet puppy had some unforeseen complications after her spay procedure. The team was able to see us first thing in the morning without an appointment. The puppy ended up having to spend the day at the vet for close monitoring, and I felt awful leaving her. But, the team called me frequently and were able to text me photos to show me that she was getting snuggles and love, and most importantly she was safe. It really made a difference, and gave me comfort throughout the day that my pup was being cared for just like she would have been at home! This team was so thoughtful, caring, and compassionate during a scary time, I cannot thank them enough. They treated my puppy as if she was their own and that makes all the difference in their care!

I've had really good experiences here with my service dog and two cats. Especially now, with all the health precautions, they're keeping a high level of compassion and care. I like that I can text about appointments, and also that the techs always call after a visit to check how things are going. I get the sense that they really care about how my pets are doing.

I brought my cat here for the three years I lived in Charlottesville. The care she received was always the best in every way. Our concerns were always listened to and addressed in a professional manner, but I still always felt like they truly cared for the wellbeing of my cat and loved to see her. Further, our regular doctor (Farah Haynes) always remembered us and my cat's unique concerns, and tailored the care she gave towards her. We recently moved to Europe, and Dr. Haynes helped make the process of taking my cat with us as smooth as possible - which was especially appreciated as we've moved during the covid-19 pandemic. We will miss Dr. Haynes and the staff at the Albemarle Veterinary Health Care Center very much!

We have worked with Dr. Freedman for many years. Our beloved dogs have always been treated so well, as have we. Having worked with many veterinarians over the years in different locales, we can say without question that Dr. Freedman is the most skilled, most professional, and most caring vet we have ever encountered. Absolute best in his profession, in our opinion.

The VCA clinic got me an appointment on super short notice (half an hour) and was very helpful on the phone even though I had a lot of beginner kitten questions. The staff was warm and friendly and took great care of the kittens. Thanks VCA!

Dr. Freeman and the staff there are the best out there. I have been going there for years and they take great care of my Brittany and make me feel like a VIP customer. They are patient, friendly, don't mind answering my many questions and most of all very thorough with my buddy. I would certainly give them the highest recommendation to others!

Dr. Freedman and his staff are absolutely amazing! My husband and I took our dog Ruckus (Boxer/mastiff mix) to see him back in March for evaluation of CCL tear. Dr. Freedman performed the surgery back in mid April. Not only did Ruckus have a torn CCL he also had a complete meniscus blow out! Before the surgery Ruckus refused to bare weight at all on his hind left leg. Today, he is running, and playing with our old girl once again and is happy as ever! Can not thank Dr. Freedman and his staff at Albemarle Veterinary Health Care Center for the love and care they have not just for my Ruckus, but for all the animals they care for and heal! If he ever needs the other repaired (GOD WILLING :)), we will be taking him back to see them for sure!

The staff were very friendly and super helpful! Vanessa made us feel so welcome right away. Becky was was very patient with us when we asked so many questions, she walked us through everything we needed to know and was very patient with our pup when he tried to escape during his shots. Dr. Freedman was very good with our newly adopted 5 month old lab, Bear. Bear loved being with him, and we really felt comfortable with discussing our concerns with him. We feel so fortunate we found this place and we highly recommend!

Dr. Freedman operated on my poodle for his ACL. I drove from Fredericksburg once a week or more for around a month as Dr. Freedman's method of operating is less invasive. After the surgery, my dog continued to limp. Dr. Freedman did …
