Great groomer!!! Super friendly!! I got to meet my groomer before my pup went back and she did an excellent job. Definitely recommend!

I like that Pet Paradise offers half-day camp—it's a great option for my high-energy dog. Recently, their management seems to be disorganized and they once cancelled my reservation without first calling.

We made an appointment months ago for our two dogs to stay at this location during family weekend. When we arrived, one of the workers came right at our one dog to try to put an ID collar on her without any introduction and wasn't happy when our dog reacted. She then asked if she would be able to handle our dog during the stay. She is a 10 pound Havanese who has never hurt anyone. I was stunned that someone working at a pet establishment would ask if they'd be able to handle this dog. Then I brought our things to the front desk and the other worker saw her medicine and immediately said she didn't know if they could take her. The first employee made a phone call and they both announced they wouldn't take our dog after all. No sorry. Nothing! I had spoken with someone ahead of time and they said we would just have to fill out some paperwork when we arrived. And this was a tiny pill that the dog happily takes. The website says, "Pet Paradise employees are thoroughly trained to administer medications. If you have a senior pet, please inform an associate and we will gladly accommodate their needs." This is unbelievable! We have never been treated like this and it was appalling!!

Very accommodating when my medical emergency required my toy poodle's length of stay to change. He was well cared for and happy while in Pet Paradise resort. Though I'd feared my long absence would adversely affect him, he squealed with delight and so did I at our reacquaintance!

My dog was attacked by another dog at play group his first day there. They have not been willing to tell me what happened to the other dog, was an animal control report made of a dog bite, has the other dog been banned from the facility? I don't know because they won't tell me. The only positive is they have paid the vet bills for treating my dog for his torn ear flap.

Melanie did such an amazing job with our cavapoo, who I’m sad to say was a bit matted because I was using the wrong brush. She was gentle and knowledgeable, and she gave him a great cut. His face looks adorable. Check in staff was great and the price was very fair. We will come here from now on.

The only place we trust to watch our pet overnight for boarding! Love that we can check in on her via camera as well!

This review is for the Charlottesville, VA location. Lately things have been disorganized, unprofessional, and frustrating. There has been an influx of new people, a big turnover rate, and at the same time a new wing of their property has opened up - despite the fact that they don't have the resources to staff it. The new folks doing day to day stuff don't seem to care about how unprofessional or unhelpful they are. In order to rectify issues, you are directed to call corporate which will take the majority of your afternoon/morning depending on when you call. Just be prepared to be on hold for long periods of time and when they answer, in many cases being told they're sorry they can't help. Examples of frustrating situations include: Pet Paradise called everyone who made (well in advance) daycare reservations for the week before and after July 4 - to cancel them, in order to accommodate boarding appointments (the possibility of appointments - this was anticipatory). So if you were planning ahead and knew you would need daycare and got your appointment in, and confirmed, you were now out of luck. We found out the hard way that reservations for customers who use their services daily are not quite as important as the reservations for (potential) customers who will be boarding, which is clearly a more lucrative option for them. This location had a fire inspection last week during which they put all of the dogs into crates. They did not notify anyone in advance that this was going to happen, so if you weren't watching the web cams at all times, you never knew. Essentially you paid Pet Paradise that day, unbeknownst to you, to put your dog in a crate for an extra hour+. For context, dog playtime starts around 9:30 (they say 9, but if you watch the cams you'll see that it's more like 930), and start getting put back into crates around 2:30/2:45 in the afternoon every day (they say 3 but the cams tell a different story). On average, you're paying them $32 daily when the dog is crated for roughly 30% of that time. More, when things like inspections occur. They have signs up on both entrances to tell you when to use which (i.e. use this entrance after 9am). Which seems helpful and efficient! But these timeframes rarely coordinate with reality. More often you go from entrance to entrance, trying to figure out where and who to speak with, for something as simple as a grooming appointment. When you do mention how disorganized it seems, eventually someone will tell you that it's not their fault. Or it's company policy. Or they're understaffed. But good luck tracking down anyone who will take responsibility for customer service. In general, if you want to call the center - you forgot to tell them something about your boarded pup or want to check in with your baby - there is no local way to do so. The number given on google will route you to a phone farm that acts as a go-between for you and the local center. Making a tweak to an appointment, or trying to get an appointment for grooming and daycare in the same day - good luck. You'll be on the phone for 20 minutes minimum. Which would be tolerable if their website was useful. But their website has tons of "nuances" that can also be described as "bugs" where you can't do things you need to do or schedule things a certain way - again, just very frustrating. The feeling that I get is that this business is a machine cranked out from FL, where the bottom line is getting as many animals boarded as possible, with as little overhead as possible, which would include professional training and customer service, and policies that take care of pet owners as much as the pets themselves. We've given this place a year and I'm at the point where I don't have the patience to give them any more. If you decide to take your pup here, you may eventually come to the same conclusion. No service is worth the amount of frustration that comes with this place, and no business that actively takes shortcuts or devalues overall satisfaction deserves your hard earned money. Period.

I took my puppy Niko for a Get Aquainted Day, as I was instructed when booking online with a representative. When I arrived I was told that unfortunately that they did not actually do this service on the weekends. Niko could stay but I would need to pay for the day. We were in the middle of moving and I didn't want to have to take him back with me if I didn't have to. The kind lady behind the desk, Charlie, mentioned an alternative that would save me money as she could tell by my face this wasn't the news I wanted to hear. Robin went above and beyond as well, calling our vet to get his vaccinations up to date in their system. With the help of Charlie and Robin, Niko was able to get some much needed play. I truly appreciate both these ladies and the young lady that had one on one time with Niko through out the day. I recommend, if you haven't already, going and seeing Chsrlie and Robin at Pet Paradise. With everything that has been going on in the world, even our pets need some R&R. Thank you ladies!

Convenient drop off and pick up times keep me coming here. I live about 45 minutes north of here but I don't have to take time off work to pick my dog up.

I told them my dog does better without me. I told them that if Im holding the leash he can be reactive. I told them not to get in his face. Before I tried to drop him off I spent 20 minutes on the phone going over all this. Hes boarded elsewhere and has done great, never an issue. He reacts if I'm around, as many dogs do with their owners. I told the manager, Ramona, this as well as she checked him in. She immediately got in his face with me holding the leash. He reacted. I even told her while she was doing it not to and she chose not to listen.

Took my 9 month doodle here for her first groom. They were friendly, accommodating and prompt. The online schedule process was easy and all questions were answered. I enjoyed the reminders for the appointment. Brittany was her groomer and did a fantastic job on her groom. We will definitely be back.

We used to bring our dog here when it was Pampered Pets. Since the change, we tried it a few times but are overall disappointed with the experience. The staff continues to be nice and kind. Yes, the hours are longer than previously but the dogs are placed in individual cages early afternoon. At the end of the day, we find her, along with many others, barking and whining. She seems to be hyped up and stressed at pick up. She used to be exhausted out of her mind and now is pretty energetic at the end of a long day.

My dog has attended doggie day care at this facility for several years. Ever since Pet Paradise bought out Pampered Pets, the quality of care and the attitude of management has made me reconsider continuing to use their services. Many of the long time employees who I knew loved and cared for my dog have voluntarily left their employment due to the new environment. Class sizes have increased -- at Pampered Pets, they were right around 15 dogs, who were carefully selected for their play styles and ability to get along. Now, PP allows up to 30 dogs in a play group. If there are only a few larger dogs in a day, they combine them all into one group, regardless of age or play styles. Under prior ownership, the dogs would get an house of rest time during lunch to relax and chill. Now the dogs spend much of the end of the day in kennels so that the group areas can be cleaned without having to pay employees to stay after business hours. All of this, and the prices increased! In addition, the corporate policies are ridiculously strict. They require bordatella vaccinations every six months, even though my vet tells me the vaccination is good for a year. I am ok with this, because it keeps the dogs healthy. However, when my dog's vaccination expired on the first of the month, and I had an appointment for him to get the vaccination three days later, I was turned away at the door and told my dog could not come in that day because his vaccination was "expired." No grace period whatsoever, despite the fact that the vaccine is actually good for several more MONTHS, let alone three days. When questioned about this, the answer? "It is corporate policy." A good corporate policy is to understand that a vaccination does not simply stop being effective upon the day that it becomes due, and to understand that clients are busy. A good corporate policy is to work with those that keep you in business, particularly during a pandemic when your business is down. I could go on and on about the disappointments, but you get the point. They have become an unbending, corporate nightmare, that treats its clients, and importantly, its employees, very poorly. While my dog loves to play with his friends there, I can no longer continue to pay good money to this place. One final caution: I would NEVER board my animals here. The way that they handled the fire that occurred there was atrocious. No communication with owners, no acknowledgement of the volunteers who helped out during the emergency when their own management's response was complete paralysis, and no real change to prevent the same thing from happening again. Again, it was all about protecting the corporation, not about being transparent and doing the right thing.

I have been bringing my pup Nate here for close to a year and a half for day camp and day boarding and I highly recommend Pet Paradise - Charlottesville! They are so friendly, professional and always know who we are when we walk in the door which always makes you feel at home. Nate loves seeing everyone and I can't thank Dustan, Ramona, Shannon, Katie, Nadia, Robin, Sandra, Charles, Mike and all others enough that have helped take such good care of my boy! Thank you! ????

We take our dog to day camp at Pampered Pets once a week. We have really enjoyed our experience there and would recommend it. The staff is always very nice, friendly, and easy to work with. They also do a good job of letting how your dog behaved and what other dogs they played with.

We have been boarding our dog here for years. Or dog absolutely loves going there. It has made boarding her an easy decision when we can't bring her on vacation. We also have done training classes with Valarie and found them very helpful. Overall I highly recommend it.

I had booked both my dogs two days before my Wedding. Got a call the day before their appointment canceling (due to illness of groomer). No attempt was made to find a replacement groomer, no attempt to appease my inconvenience. First (and ONLY) time thought about going back since the fire. However, Animal Connection (who luckily fit me in!), found a way to squeeze us in. Will be going to them in the future!

Used to take my dog here all the time under the previous ownership. Have taken her here 3 times since and things just seem off. My dog would always be exhausted and could barely move after playing all day but now she's still completely energized afterward. She's also dying of thirst when we get home. I have a feeling that they keep the dogs in cages for the majority of the time now - she's in the cage every time I go to pick her up. They say it's easier to put them in cages at the end of the day but they start really early (2-3pm). I get it, I mean I'm sure it is easier but if I wanted easy I could keep her in a cage at home for free rather than taking her here. It's really sad, this place used to be so good. Now it seems like they're just keeping people's pets locked in cages all day.

We had previously gotten our golden doodle groomed here back when it was still Pampered Pets. Unfortunately this last time, our dog came home looking like a completely different dog and not in a good way. We didn't even believe it was our dog until she finally stopped acting so weird because she was so traumatized from her grooming. She certainly was a little bit matted and so we expected them to have to shave her down a little bit more than usual, but I told the groomer that I really like to have her long and that if she could keep her as long as possible that would be great. The groomer told us that she would do her best to keep her as long as possible, and that the matting didn't seem so bad. I don't know if she got confused or made a mistake or was just straight up not telling us the truth, but when we picked up our dog, she was completely shaved down to the skin including her head, ears, and nose, and all her whiskers were gone. She also had bald patches on her chest and on her tummy. She also has scabs on her ears from what I'm guessing would be a cut from the clipper. One of the worst parts is that they didn't even call us to warn us that they were going to be doing this to our dog. Even if the matting in her fur had been that bad, we would've appreciated a call to let us know that our dog was going to look like a completely different animal when we picked her up. We also would've appreciated possibly having the option to have them brush her out, even though we had told them beforehand that we didn't want to incur any additional charges. However, had we known that she would end up this way, we probably would've been willing to pay more. I didn't say anything when I picked her up because the groomer wasn't there and I was still in shock, but once I got home and gathered my thoughts I called the front desk and was told that someone would call me either the following day or the following Monday after that weekend to explain. It has now been three weeks and we have not heard from anyone. My husband has called them three or four times and left messages and we still have not heard anything back. We could not be more disappointed with the service and with the type of cut they gave our poor dog. We were mostly calling to find out what happened and whether or not we can get our money back but unfortunately we can't reach them short of actually stopping by and asking for our money back. It's safe to say we won't be coming back here, even though the first two times we got her groomed here they did a great job and she still looked a lot like herself. But after this experience, there is no way we can trust that they will do a good job every time.

Good boarding rates. I also had my dog bathed and she was a fresh beagle when I picked her up. They do a good job and have excellent customer service.

They offer a lot of perks for dogs to enjoy their time away from you. Unfortunately employees there aren't treated as well. My dog stayed there for a week during my vacation and he was noticably different when we picked him up. He bounced back immediately and it may be just the situation of being away from us for that long. I'm not sure as we'd never left him that long before. Either way, two different accounts tell me that employees are treated unfairly. This is from employees working there for years. Management changed in the last year and it wasn't good before and apparently it hasn't gotten better. Unhappy employees have to reflect on our pets in some unquantifiable way. I'll leave it up to you to decide.
