I can't believe I haven't already written a review! Alex and his team at The Canine Mind are fantastic. I have done the puppy class with Willow our new border collie pup. That alone was transformational for her as well as my husband and myself. During the group puppy classes willow went from terrified and screaming in the corner to actually engaging and playing with the other puppies. Through that class we also learned the nuances that go into having a second dog at home, and how play time is critical for confidence building. After willow completed that class we did the next class up with both of our dogs; willow and Lucy. Willow of course was advancing and learning more foundational skills, while Lucy we worked on confidence with. And another great help in that class with Lucy. She used to scream in the car nonstop, after this class it was a quick correction and now she is such a great quiet dog in the car. We also learned more techniques to help both of our border collies gain confidence, this is a big one for them since they are such a sensitive breed. Now we are doing the two week board and train for Willow. She is almost a year old now and has great foundations but has also struggled a bit through her teen phase so I have no doubt this training will help solidify those foundations and build her up to be all she can be. I recommend The Canine Mind to everyone I can. Their knowledge and skills impress me, I try to be careful with who I trust my border collies to because they are so sensitive and everyone at this business has my full trust with my fur babies. What I appreciate most about the training here is that it's all about training a great dog for life, learning practical and helpful things, not just tricks. For example the command 'place' I have used in so many situations...one most recently was to get my dog on the scale at the vet, and then up on the table at the vet. The peace of mind that I have two great dogs is worth every penny I've spent with these guys. My dogs are less stressed too, now that we have a way to communicate and clear expectations. I could go on and on, but I'll just end this review with this; this staff is simply the best.

I took my 1 year old husky mix, Coco for the 2 week training course. I was very skeptical at first because I was having a hard time getting him to listen but after the 2 weeks there was a dramatic difference in his behavior. I continued the training at home like I was instructed to do so and Coco is an absolute dream dog now. He used to bolt out of the front door any time he could, chew on everything, run away constantly and now he understands he shouldn’t do any of those things. He is off leash more often than not now because he is so well behaved around people and other dogs. Giving him more freedom and time to play and be a dog has strengthened our bond, something I didn’t expect from the training but our bond is stronger than ever. The “training” is a continued process that I now enjoy doing with Coco and it doesn’t feel like a fight anymore, to him it’s playing and he loves it. The best part is that he is still my energetic playful Coco he always was but well behaved now. I see so many stories of people giving up their dogs because of behavioral problems and I didn’t want that to happen to me and Coco so I looked into training. I found this place, it was reasonably priced with good reviews and I’m glad I picked them. Thank you to everyone at The Canine Mind that helped train Coco and giving us that foundation that we so desperately needed. It was worth ever penny!

Alex and Melody at Canine Mind were so helpful. We had questions when our puppy was only 8 weeks old, and they reassured us. Followed that by puppy training, and that made us feel very comfortable with doing a 2 week board and train. So thankful for them. The Canine Mind is the best dog training/boarding in Salt Lake City. Alex and the team offer exceptional puppy/dog training. I started my puppy training with the team several months ago. My dog will soon go through 2 week board and train as well as several boarding stays over the summer. The staff is kind and supportive as well as trustworthy and very reasonable. My dog means the world to me(he is my child) and I always feel safe and confident that the Canine Mind Team will treat him well and take very good care of him, no matter what.

The Canine Mind team has helped me and my fearful rescue pup so much. Before we started the Companion Dog series, my newly adopted dog was too scared to enjoy his new home. We got valuable recommendations from Alex and started training. Now (only partially through the course) my dog knows basic commands, loves his walks, is relaxed in our home, plays and wags his tail all the time. I was a little reluctant at first to drop that cash but very worth it, very good value.

We can’t say enough good things about Canine Mind! Alex and his team have always been so easy and fun to work with, and it’s clear that they’re passionate about what they do.
