We brought our sweet boy here a few days ago because he was vomiting and had very bloody stool. He stayed for 2 days in the ICU and was very well cared for! We were an absolute mess worrying about our baby and they were so sweet every time I called and answered my million questions with patience and understanding. Thank you so much for taking care of our Simon, we are so happy he’s OK and appreciate you guys so much. Hopefully we won’t have to come back but if we ever do we know our doggies will be taken care of.

We unfortunately had to say goodbye to our 14 year old cat tonight. The team at Mountain West Vet were incredibly kind and compassionate toward us. We are ever so grateful to them and the great care they gave our Pete in his last moments.

Absolutely outstanding! We had an emergency with our Chihuahua and they took amazing care of her. Very kind and professional staff. I would highly recommend this place if your pet is in need.

Unforeseen and unwanting circumstances happened with my pet.... The management was very respectful understanding and helpful during the difficult times. I applaud their professionalism and how well they took care of my family both with my pet and us as humans. Thank you Mountain West... My pet will be missed but you helped put us at ease.

Updating my review after a second visit with my new dog. From 1 star to 3 stars. I can’t hate this place as they did save my puppy from Parvo. But here’s a few things to consider before bringing your animal here. We brought our dog in, we were pretty sure he had parvo as we have delt with a parvo dog before. The vet came out and did a parvo test on him, and told us they’d call us with his results within 15 minutes. So 45 minutes goes by and the doctor calls us and tells us some treatment options, I told him “treatment for what?” And he replied with “did nobody tell you? Your dog has parvo” my point is communication isn’t the greatest here. Prices: I do understand this is an emergency clinic so prices are high. It was $4500 in total for our dog to stay there for 5 days. HOWEVER; 5 days was not enough, they sent our guy home too early, when we got home with him he was next to death. So I called them back and told them, but they didn’t want to see him again unless we forked another $1,000 over. I get it, I’m a 20 year old kid that wasn’t very financially smart, we declined another day with hopes he’d make it. Short story, our little friend is now happy and healthy and that’s all I wanted, even if it was extremely expensive. So for that, thank you Mountain West. But please be more friendly and understanding.

I spent 6 hours here just to get a parvo test and vitals without the vet looking at her. During that time frame I had to keep calling to find out what was going on with her. My wife called them to see if they would tell her anything different and was on hold for 10 minutes. We told them we wanted to take her to another vet because of customer service. When They bring her out to me I was told that I wouldn’t get charge for the service. I was charged for the service

I will NEVER go here again! The vet I tried to talk to, but ended up getting yelled at that my puppy may die or have seizures, needs some customer service. I definitely don’t appreciate spending A lot of money somewhere that treats me like garbage. The same points she was trying to make could have been expressed in a much different way and they could have kept a customer! Don’t go here unless you want to be disrespected and pay an arm and a leg. Worst veterinary experience ever.

This was the worst time ever. I got different phone calls and every time they would call to get Into they had stuff wrong. This was the only er vet that I could get into and I wish I didn’t have to go here. I would not recommend this one to anyone. I get they get busy but having the right info on the chart is important part. This is the worst er vet I have ever been to.

I'd like to thank the staff that helped me with my dog Chewy. They were very caring and showed a lot of sympathy towards me at such a hard time with the situation of having to put my dog Chewy to sleep. They also sent a card to my house with such caring words. My family and I appreciate everything they did.

They've saved two of my dogs lives and put down one of my cats in the most compassionate way possible. I won't take my animals anywhere else, especially in an emergency setting. So grateful for these guys, y'all rock. ❤️

It saddens me to write this review because Mtn. West used to have an amazing exotics department with Dr. Laura Boehler at the helm. Now that Dr. Boehler is no longer at Mountain West and Dr. Bahan rarely works there, I cannot recommend going to Mountain West for rabbit care or emergencies, especially for exotics. The first time I used the exotics department last spring, I was impressed with the care I received for my rabbit. The tech I worked with, Jess, spent almost an hour going over proper rabbit care and answering my questions. When my rabbit developed an abscess and stopped eating, I went straight to Mtn. West Emergency and saw Dr. Bahan. Dr. Bahan immediately called Dr. Boehler and got my rabbit started on the correct protocols on a Saturday since no exotic vets were working. Over the next few months, Dr. Boehler worked miracles with my female bunny who had a huge infection throughout her entire throat and cheek that required multiple surgeries to heal. Unfortunately, when my male rabbit developed the same infection in his lungs and when I brought him to the ER, Dr. Boehler was not in the clinic. The exotic vet there, Dr. Lofgren, informed me that a CT scan was necessary to treat my rabbit but failed to mention he would be sedated for the procedure, the risks of sedating a rabbit with pneumonia, or get my consent for any kind of sedation. My rabbit subsequently crashed and died immediately after being given sedation in preparation for the CT. She didn't even stabilize him first prior to giving him a drug known to suppress breathing. I have reached out to the clinic with questions and have yet to hear any response other than the receptionist acknowledging my email and letting me know it was forwarded to management, and this was well over a month ago. Since that incident, we have taken several other rabbits in for emergencies. Dr. Boehler has not been working any of the times we've been in and received substandard care. Before driving a rabbit from Lehi in severe GI stasis to the clinic, we called multiple times to confirm there was a vet currently working who would be able to see the rabbit. Once the foster arrived at the clinic, the staff refused bloodwork and x-rays and said no one there could treat exotics. Again, this was after confirming they had a vet on staff who would see the rabbit before she was driven up. They gave the rabbit fluids and critical care, which we had already done at home. We ended up taking the rabbit to a 17 year old rescuer to stabilize so she did not die. This rabbit also had a temperature of 94 degrees which was not even mentioned to us before leaving the clinic, and they did not place her in an incubator to raise her temperature prior to releasing her. Not only were we given substandard care, we were charged and emergency fee on top of the appointment fee, for being told that THEY COULD NOT HELP US! Between multiple vets who do not know what they're doing or refuse to try and management that completely ignores concerns and errors, front desk staff that are often rude, and Dr. Boehler no longer working at Mountain West, I will not be bringing any personal animals or animals with my rescue back to Mtn. West ever again, and I will be recommending that my many rescue contacts also go elsewhere.

Do not go here unless you want to be overcharged, disrespected, and separated from your pet. I've never written a review before (good or bad) but I am so disgusted by the services I received from Mountain West that I've been moved to do so. This is how they trick you. 1) You book a consultation. 2) They overcharge you. 3) If your dog needs surgery or additional care they recommend you see your primary vet as their services are "really expensive." 4) You visit your primary veterinarian (which you now realize, should have done in the first place ). When my dog was hit by a car, I took him straight to mountain west as it was a Sunday and my primary vet was closed. What started as a 90 dollar consultation ended in me paying 660 dollars for virtually nothing. The staff (including the veterinarian) became frustrated when I asked questions, and obviously, I had a lot of questions as: 1) Per their covid policy, I was not allowed into the facility (which was very hard for me). 2) I am not familiar with medical language. 3) I want to know exactly what I am paying for. They did not take the time to go over my bill with me or explain my dog's conduction. In actuality they made me feel stupid for asking questions and having concerns regarding payment. They ended the appointment by telling me that he'll probably need surgery and that I should take him to my primary vet as "they are really expensive and I wouldn't want to do the surgery through them." Mountain west does NOT care about animals, they care about money. My dog was hurt and I was in a vulnerable state. They took complete advantage of me. Thanks for nothing Mountain West!

We had a wonderful experience with mountain west hospital for our sweet, old dog. We had to take her in on an emergency and Ryan was so helpful from the beginning. Dr Kara was so compassionate, understanding and provided calm assurance that what we were doing for our dog by euthanizing her was the right and humane thing to do. It’s always a tough situation and both Ryan and Dr Kara helped us with every step! I will recommend all pet owners that i know to go to mountain west animal hospital!

This office was a blessing.. our senior pup Zeus was battling a bad infection that caused a fever.. we tried local places in Salt Lake and were either turned down or told it was a 8 hour wait.. we honestly didn't know if he'd make it that long with his fever.. we called Mountain West and they got him seen as soon as we got there.. kept in contact with us via phone calls while they worked on him and we waited in the parking lot.. gave us honest expectations and worked with us when we didn't have a large amount of money to spend at the moment.. I wish they could be our primary vet because they are just awesome and really seemed to care about our baby. Bless them!

If I could give them 10 stars I would! I brought in my brand new kitten (Gary) in on a Sunday as he was throwing up and lethargic. He ended up having Feline Panleukopenia Virus, it has a very high mortality rate. I am 100% positive the only reason he is alive is due to their excellent care. He was in hospital for 4 day and they contacted me twice a day with updates. I would highly recommend them to anyone with an emergency vet situation. But people need to remember they take A LOT of emergencies so you will need to be patient, just like a human emergency room. The short time I was waiting in my car I saw so many extremely injured animals being brought in, they didn't turn away a single one. They have a lot on their plate, kindness is key.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the staff that helped me with Star ! I would recommend your hospital that needs emergency medical for there dog. The curbside service was a little weird , but understandable. Maybe charge the on hold music to something a bit more uplifting . lol

I almost had my best friend euthanized last night. Finally after speaking with the doctor we put her on some medications. The staff and the doctor were great. I called this morning to ask a question about her medication and the man whom I spoke with was extremely rude and snapped at me that she wrote it that way for a reason. I called back later today to have them ask the doctor and all they told me was that the rude man was correct. They did Not explain anything to me nor did they comment on the rude behavior. The only way I would ever return to this place is if my cats life depended on it. Very rude and unhelpful, besides the ones from last night. They were empathetic, but the people I spoke with today totally changed my entire opinion. If it weren't for last night, this facility would have negative stars. Very unprofessional and rude. Update: I just called them back again shortly after posting the above review. I explained to the lady on the phone that I felt that my questions hadn't been answered and that I also felt that the other 2 individuals whom I spoke with were very rude. I feel much better now that she politely Did answer my question and helped me understand. I am sure that it just depends on who is helping you at any given time although I do hope that the facility can work with those who are struggling with people skills to learn some positive customer service skills and maybe also some coping skills since they are working with the public in a very important position. Thank you to those who Have been helpful to me and my baby!

Dr. Kara and her staff are absolutely amazing. I found a stray cat who was hit by a car, Dr. Kara was so attentive and informative of options for the stray. We ended up keeping her and she is doing very well. Thank you to everyone at Mountain West. I will most definitely come back and highly recommend.

My dog was throwing up one day with blood and multiple times. Ended up coming here Because every where else was booked solid. It took them about 4 hours from the time he got there til they were finished. It was a reasonable amount of time. I work in Healthcare as a nurse and I felt the vet was very informative & patient. They ended up stating he probably had pancreatitis & gave him some medicines for home, also did it fluids/ medications & xray to find the problem. He immediately turned the corner on a good note that next morning. Finished the medications and changed his diet, and he's doing tons better. The techs as well were timely. They seem to really care for these animals. I was grateful for them. It was pricey $500, but for 24 hour emergency vet that's expected. My baby boy Jasper and I are so grateful.

Do not recommend. There are other vets in the area including ER vets. I had a horrible experience here with their receptionist and the vet and will never be back. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

Worst vet I’ve ever been to. 1 star just because they’re not my usual vet. My Aussie has some mouth issues (bleeding gums, kept pawing at her mouth, trying to chew something out of her teeth, wouldn’t eat). My vet was understaffed and booked for the day so I went here. Never have I ever been to a clinic with such lack of communication and direction, lack of explanation and procedures, and lack of responsible doctors. After leaving my puppy here for 3 hours and having over 5+ confusing phone calls, I announced I would be coming to get my puppy and didn’t care if she was ready or not. Once I showed up I walked in and they told me I needed to go back to my vehicle, call the number, and press #2. I called and was sent to voicemail, I called again and someone answered saying “this is an emergency can you please hold?” I said yes. After 30 minuets of being on hold I finally yelled at a nurse, who was outside, to grab her attention. I asked if my dog was okay and she said she would go check. Soon as she walked into the building I was taken off hold. I paid $120.95 (not bad) and then waited another 15 minuets for my dog to be brought to me. Once my dog was brought out she was not excited to see me. She wasn’t jumping or sniffing, was not listening to commands, and would not look directly at me. I immediately asked what was wrong with her and the doctor said “oh it’s just the sedative, she will go back to her normal self here soon.” I was happy to have my dog back so I blew it off and left. At my regular vet, my dog has had sedatives before and needed her vaccinations. Not once has my dog been afraid or weary to see me again. Even with bandages around her arms she has been joyful. I do not trust or recommend Mountain West Vet. None the less, my dogs mouth problems were not fixed here. Do not bring your animal to this clinic.

I chose this vet clinic as a recommend from Parrish Creek Vet clinic since their Vet would be gone in training until late September. I needed a bird vet for an overall health check and beak/nail trim from our newly adopted bird Claire. She was my mother-in-laws bird, whom recently passed away. I personally wished I would have waited for the Parish Creek Vet to be back in town and not rush the appointment, but she desperately needed a trim and a health check. My overall experience with Dr. Balin was okay. She seemed knowledgeable and experienced. Although, Dr. Balin or her assistant injured Claire's foot while doing the nail trim. I do not know personally who did it since they will not let you into the building with your pet. I had to wait in my car and worry about her the entire time. Claire could hardly use her foot for over a week and is still limping on it. The appointment was about a month ago. I called the clinic the next morning told them about the injury, but they seemed unconcerned. Dr Balin said she was probably being a "drama queen". They wanted me to bring her back in, but she had already experienced enough trauma with moms passing and the new injury, so we wanted to wait. Another service I asked for was a beak trim, but she only trimmed the tip. We could have done that at home. We took her there to have it professionally done. The $360.00 I spent on the visit was not worth the money. Do not take birds there for a beak and nail trim. I feel if they actually cared about our pet they would have called to see how her foot was doing, but obviously more concerned about the money. Will never go to this Vet again. If anyone has a good recommend for an experienced bird vet, please let me know.

Our cat broke her femur at 9pm at night :( We called them and they were very accommodating and comforting. We drove our cat down there and they had her x-rayed and assessed within the hour. She spent the night there and then had surgery the next morning. The surgeon was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. My little girls were happy to have our cat helped and treated in a very timely manner. Due to covid you have to drop your pet off with them in the parking lot, and they provided us with snacks, drinks and a coloring book for my daughter!

They took my Sugar Glider in on a Sunday night, and were very compassionate and loving to him. He's 11 years old and was acting like I might lose him. They found he has cataracts and arthritis, dehydrated and a possible respiratory infection. They worked with us to be able to afford to treat him, and despite being blind, he's thriving again and has such a will to survive! I can never thank them enough for the love, compassion and care they gave Gabe, whom I have raised from his first day out of pouch! I highly recommend them to anyone who loves their pet as family!!! ❤️

Simple uti with classic symptoms. I’m traveling and basically wanted to start antibiotics. Very expensive and unsympathetic. I get tests are useful but this was very straightforward. I’ll just have take to my vet in Texas in 2 days. It’s a pretty office and it was pretty expensive. And a massive waste of time.
