My dog is bleeding out and this “ urgent hospital “ advises me that it’s only by appointments!!! What type of URGENT HOSPITAL is by appointment? By the way this is my first review ever. Took the time to let you guys off and advise to change your company name to don’t care about your pet call a year prior

We have been able to take our two chinchillas here for their annual checkup as well as treatment. Each time the staff was warm and friendly and showed such caring for our animals. Dr. Rivera is caring and patient with both animals and people answering our questions and providing helpful advice.

I’m very happy with the service I’ve received here! I’ve had to bring my rats in a few times over the past 6 months and they’ve been so good with them. Dr. Rivera and the staff are very kind and much more knowledgeable about rat care and medications than other vets that treat rats in this area. They’ve been super easy to work with and very understanding when it comes to voicing my concerns about treatments and scheduling. They are in high demand and generally pretty booked up so I’d recommend calling at least a week in advance if you need you pet to be seen, but they also offer emergency services which is great. I would highly recommend this office for anyone with exotic pets.

I recently moved to this city and was worried about switching vets for my 2 dogs and cat. I’ve been bringing my animals to Dr. Rivera for a few different issues that came up, and have been pleasantly surprised by the staff. He charges fair prices and answers all my questions.

Took my daughter and her chameleon for a first time check up. We were late, 10 or 15, minutes. So they said they are going to charge us another $80. Had no idea they would do that. I was coming from my job in Draper, picking up my daughter in west Lehi. I under estimated the time it would take to get there. Next time, I would have had a better idea on the time. You know, first time late should be forgiven. Totally would have accepted that charge if it happened again. Owner came in and stared me down and wasn't going to budge. I find that rediculous. It's unwarranted. I'm going to be looking for another exotic animal vet. There is nothing special about this place and they are obviously not interested in keeping my business. The vet and vet tech that we saw seem really nice ... I wouldn't have minded coming back to have Frankie seen by them. But, their policies are more important to them than keeping my business.

My wife and I recently got a guinea pig (Jet) and became worried when he developed a frequent cough. After some Google searching, we found the Utah Veterinary Hospital. We liked how much information their website provided us (not to mention the clean and easy-to-navigate layout of their website). So we called their office and they were able to quickly schedule an appointment for Jet within 48 hours. Upon arriving, the front desk ladies checked us in quickly with absolutely zero waiting time for the exam room. The vet tech for our visit (I think her name was Kinsey) was very kind and loving to our pet, and she was very attentive to all of our concerns and questions. Kinsey performed her measurements (weight, temperature, and some other things that I forget) very carefully and efficiently. When we had questions about how to trim Jet's nails, she took the time to show us the proper technique to avoid clipping the quick of the nail, as well as what to do if the quick is accidentally nicked. Kinsey was super helpful and eager to answer any and all questions that we had. Dr. Rivera treated us exactly the same. When we had questions for him, he thoroughly and carefully answered our questions. He quickly and confidently determined Jet's diagnosis, and even talked with us to discover the root cause (a problem with Jet's bedding that was causing him to have respiratory issues). He informed us what we can do to inherently improve the situation, as well as prescribed medications to combat the respiratory infection. I'm just now realizing how incredibly long this review is, aheh. Anyway, it was a great experience. We went in having lots of questions, and we came out having received lots of extremely helpful answers. Super friendly staff, and overall just an awesome experience. 5/5 would recommend.

They called me last week to remind me of some shots I needed for my dog. They requested a deposit before they could book. I told them I didn’t have it on me but would call back. I googled their number this morning to book my appointment and decided to read the reviews. I’m astonished the way this office responds to a negative review. It is very unprofessional and childish. If your business is receiving this many 1 star reviews and you handle them in a way of fighting back and threatening law suits it makes your business look really bad. Just on that I have decided to take my business else where. Oh and if can’t find “Liz Smith” in your system try Elizabeth Smith.

100% recommend!!! We had a sudden change in our dog's health and started making calls to see where we could take him for an evaluation. After striking out with 4 places, one of them our last vet clinic, we found Utah Veterinary Hospital. Within 90 minutes of making that first call the dog and I drove to the clinic, checked in, physical exam, blood draw, blood labs evaluated and prescription filled - in 90 minutes!!!! We had our records transferred to UVH that same day, I don't think we could have been any happier with how that first appointment went. Other awesome things: so clean in there, floor to ceiling windows kept the dog calm, fold up exam table was not pulled down until the exam started (our dog knows what happens on those tables), follow up call the next day to make sure the dog was still okay, and many more. Really, give these guys a try, they care about you and your animal

I have always loved my vet, but they are getting really hard to get into lately. I have cats that fight a lot and get abscesses and have had to use Pet Urgent Care for those. So we thought we’d try this place hoping to find a good vet with more availability. Pros: was able to get an appointment within a few days. Staff- techs and front desk were very nice. These 2 factors are the reason for the 3 stars. Cons: Cost. Lack of trust in the treatment plan. The vet looked at my pet for a couple of minutes and then had the tech come back with an expensive treatment plan. The plan recommended a ton of other procedures that had nothing to do with the concern I came in with, like teeth cleaning and nail trimming when I’m concerned about an abscess. It’s confusing to sort out what was really necessary and what was optional when it’s all presented as if it’s needed. I recommend that you really quiz them line by line about each thing. The estimate to drain abscesses was 3 times what Pet Urgent Care charges and 9 times what my regular vet charges. I wish I wasn’t so up to date on typical costs for this procedure, but I have cats that don’t get along. ????????‍♀️ The tech was great and tried to do a good job, but he couldn’t do anything about our frustrations, of course, and couldn’t explain why their costs were so much higher than other clinics. I felt concerned that I was being taken advantage of, so trust wasn’t developed. They gotta get their costs in line with other clinics or be able to explain why they are so much higher. I am sticking with my regular vet and Pet Urgent Care.

I have loved coming to Valley Veterinary and so has my puppy. He broke his leg and they were the only vets around with time to see him. My puppy has wiggled out of his splint numerous times and I have always been able to come in and get it reset without issue. Once my puppy sees we are at the vet's, he get excited and wants to be friends with everyone there. I appreciate the way the staff has treated myself and my little furball. I would reccomend this place to anyone.

We enjoyed our first doctor visit. The vet is knowledgeable and his assistant Patrick (I think is his name) a tall, dark hair, slim guy. Is very knowledgeable as well, he was very kind with my dog.

I've had good experiences with vets in Utah Valley except for this one. I had Samuel Rivera DVM. I have three specific complaints. First, the experience is like attending a time share presentation. You get a price quote for an exam and treatment but when you show up you are pressured into purchasing a long list of incidental services before the vet will see you. Second, if you call to follow up on your pet's condition, you will not get anyone on the phone who can speak specifically about your pet. Third, they will not give you a copy of the prescription that you get and pay for your pet because they want you to drive all the way down to their office to get refills and purchase the meds only from them.

Took my brand new kitten in. They were super friendly, reasonable, and I didn’t have to wait to be seen. They made me and my new kitten very comfortable and we felt well taken care of. :)

Took my dog in for a back injury he had been seen for about a year ago. The vet told us he was paralyzed and would never walk again and couldn't even wag his tail. He was rude to my wife and repeatedly told her that if we would have brought him in for check ups, he wouldn't have lost movement of his legs and would be able to walk. When we took him in the first time a year ago, we were told the same thing and that our options were to put him down or have a $9000 back surgery. Well after all this advise from the vet, my dog is back and walking again a week after taking him in. I can't find myself trusting what they tell me anymore. If I would have listened to them from the beginning, my dog would not be here anymore because he would have been put to sleep.

We were referred to Utah Veterinary Hospital by our Vet because our Yorkie needed to have a surgery that she did not do. We have had the most amazing experience!! The staff is so amazing!! They are all so helpful and friendly. We are going to switch to them to be our Vet from now on.

My Dog has a mass that is most likely a abscess on his throat and it's growing at a very fast rate and pressing on his airway. I called and they got me scheduled for the next day and charged me around $50 for a deposit. On the way to my appointment my car broke down and my phone also died. When I was finally about to get ahold of them only 20 minutes after my set time for my appointment. I explained my situation and asked we could still be seen and they refused service's. I asked what could be done because it is life or death for my fur Baby and asked if they could make a exception and please see my dog with us not being to late. and I was told that for another $55 I could make a new appointment for later in day. So I'm trying to figure out if this Vet even cares about animals or only cares about the money... My dog is Dieing and they don't want to even work with me at all. So yes they only get 1 star. Because zero isn't a option.

Can’t say I’ve ever been more annoyed going to a vet appointment. My dog has had a limp on his front leg that comes after active play and takes days to go away, for the better part of a month now. Took them twenty minutes for the tech to come in. I explained all this to the tech who said well that sounds like an acl tear but I’m not a doctor. To which I said it’s his left front leg and front legs don’t have acls do they? So he agreed and said so it’s the right front correct? And I said no, it’s the left front. Then he said he’d go get the dr which took another twenty five minutes and the vet asks what’s going on even though I had explained it all to the tech. The vet does an exam and my dog visibly shows discomfort when he’s examining the leg. Vets response? Well he’s clearly doesn’t like me examining that leg but I don’t see anything and I don’t think we’ll find anything in X-rays so here’s an anti inflammatory to try for two weeks and we’ll see what happens. The best part, they “forgot” I had paid my deposit for the visit over the phone prior to my visit which they said was their policy so the front desk tried to ring me up for the full amount again. Can’t say I’ll be back to a clinic that can’t be bothered to fully exam and find a solution and then tries to double bill.

Best Vet Office ever! I rescued a chihuahua and her teeth were in horrible condition. I took here for them to take a look at them. They were so gentle with her. She ended up needing surgery on her mouth. They were fast and safe with her surgery. She is now happy and healthy! Thank you so much for helping my sweet little mocha.

Alexis has been really helpful taking multiple calls from me with the ongoing issue we were having with our dog. Although the doc is man of few words, the staff is very helpful and able to accommodate their schedule with mine.

I had a rabbit named Jack who was always in there. Had to put him down the hardest decision I ever made. Every person in that office was very sympathetic. I am so very grateful for the girls that help me through this. Staff, Dr. I recommend this place to all. Thank you for being so kind. Diane

I came in with my new puppy for an appointment and the wait time was 40 minutes. As I sat waiting in the lobby the girls up front were on their phones the entire time and talking about other clients. After an additional 20 minutes in the room still no interaction with a nurse or doctor. Severely disappointed in the lack of organization and the way the office runs.

Has a one person per exam room policy which they neglected to tell me when I booked the appointment and paid the non-refundable $50 fee. They thought it was perfectly fine to have my six year old sit in the waiting room alone while I was in the exam room and not able to see him. They ended up doing the exam in the back (out of eye sight which also made me uncomfortable). The vet came into the exam room to talk to me while my son was in there- breaking their own rule about how many people are allowed in the exam room. Also dictating that it was unnecessary to take my dog to the back- the vet was going to come in the room with us anyways!

I was a new customer and made the error of not realizing that I was making an appointment with the wrong animal hospital. I didn't realize that it was the wrong one until I showed up at the hospital that I thought that I was making an appointment for. I explained this to them and that could not make it in time. I lost my deposit. If this is how a new customer is treated, I would never want to be a customer nor would I recommend them to anyone.

I recently moved to American fork. Our dog that we have had for 9 years has cancer. I explained to the receptionist while booking that we wanted to have her evaluated and see if she’s still comfortable or if we needed to start considering other options. We proceeded with booking the appointment and the receptionist took the time to make sure I understood their new policy of pre-paying for the exam, $47. Before I arrived, I arranged to have my four children under six years old babysat and my husband to use his lunch hour to attend the visit. We arrived to a sign that said STOP call before entering and only one person may enter no exceptions! (As a point of reference on Covid restrictions…masks, social distancing and gathering restrictions are NOT in place. Stadium of fire which filled up all of BYU stadium took place a few days ago!) The clinic and its employees were not wearing masks FYI. Anyway, a vet-tech waves us BOTH in before we call per the signs instructions. We check in and she tells us only one person may come back to the appointment. The other person can wait in the lobby. I asked why that was. I was told it is the “county wide policy”. I sat down, sure that they would make an exception due to the sensitive nature of our visit today. However I decided to call my vet in Saratoga springs where I had just moved from and ask if they also had the “countywide policy” in place. They confirmed my suspicions…there is no countywide policy restriction. This restriction was a clinic policy. My husband and I walked back to the receptionist and explain our predicament. We are here to discuss potentially needing to euthanize our dog today, and that is a visit we feel we need to do together. If that is not possible that is OK. We have called our old vet in Saratoga springs who confirmed there is no countywide policy and could see us both. So if we cannot see the vet together today we would like a refund so we can we can go elsewhere. The receptionist said she would speak with her manager on the matter. Additionally, I let her know we are both fully vaccinated and would be very happy to wear masks if they’d like. This all took place at the start of our appointment, 12:20. We did not hear from the receptionist again until 1 o’clock. It took FOURTY minutes for her to return back to us. She told us that this was their policy and they would not refund us. My jaw absolutely dropped! I explained once more how I was here under a sensitive matter to discuss having to put my dog down due to cancer, how I had been sitting here for over 40 minutes, how nobody notified me at the time that I booked my appointment of this policy, yet they remembered to notify me of a policy in which they made me pre-pay for an exam. An exam that I haven’t had and they won’t refund me for! She repeated it was policy and they would not refund me. I Insisted I speak with the manager and proceeded to wait in the middle of the lobby, hoping to avoid being ignored for another 40 minutes. After 10 minutes the receptionist returned and asked for the credit card I paid with. She refunded the $46 exam fee, but she did not even apologize one time. I left at 1:10, 50 minutes later. The manager never even came to speak with me…

I've never been happier with a vet. We have bulldogs and they can come with their own health challenges, but their team has always been so incredible to help us with any issue we encountered. I have not had a single bad experience with Dr. Rivera or his team. They are attentive, always remember our pups names and have comforted me through some hard situations. I'm so grateful for them and the care they take. I would recommend them to anyone.

***Edited because apparently this place will "take legal action" for leaving a bad review after reading their responses to others with awful experiences. I'm not some "unruly guest" I was nothing but kind and grateful to these people. I'll just say that the "care" my pet received sent him into heart failure and I very much doubt they documented that as they told me it was and allergic reaction over the phone. A good vet at another hospital saved his life for less than his procedure cost here and they DID document it. If you care about your pet take them somewhere else.

Excellent customer service, easy to book appointments, and healthier pets! I'm so glad I drove farther to go here, because they finally got Waffles healthy from a few rescue-pup parasites.
