VCA Castle Hills is absolutely horrible. I took my kitten to get spayed along with her shots. They drew blood from her neck and a hematoma appeared on her lymphnoid two days after, which then got infected. After taking her back to them to get it checked, the Veterinarian walked in the room and told me to prepare for the worst. My kitten was experiencing something along the lines of Distemper but in cats. She then said, "if she's still alive in two weeks bring her back." I was heart broken. They gave her a pain medicine injection and some other meds and sent me on my way. Needless to say they also let her leave with a high temp for kittens. I was so confused at what I had been told, I took her to 2 other emergency vets. Finally, after having her infected hematoma tested and them able to get her temp to drop from 104 at Blue Pearl, I was told my kitten was going to be just fine and obviously the vet had messed up at Castle Hills and was covering it up. So 1,000$ later I realized how awful Castle Hills was. They lack compassion and professionalism!!!! I was also given the advice by the other two vets to report them to the Veterinarian Medical Board and was given all the contact info. Don't take your animals here and do not sign up for the laughable Care Club scam, it covers nothing when you actually need it!!!!

These guys have their act together. They take great care of my 6 dogs and keep me up to date on appointments and treatments. Best thing is my dogs have no problem going there.

I had a great experience at VCA Animal hospital in Shavano Park! It was our first visit and we were flooded with attention & service before, during and after our visit. So happy I brought my dog here. We have a new vet home! Thank you Shavano Living magazine for introducing us!

Adopted a cat from humane society called to set up an appt everything was good. Kitten got an eye infection so we called to see if they could see her sooner. They couldn’t so they canceled the original appt without saying anything. I called today 10/12 regarding her original appt and Mikey told me that I didn’t show up to an appt I was never texted about or called. Hung up on me when I questioned her and tried to set up another appt. I call back another girl answers and I can hear Mickey in the back scream out “just put her on hold” UNPROFESSIONAL and Petty. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE ANImal or we wouldn’t have had an issue. Another rep hung up on me playing that I was yelling. You see when they all get together and say “I’m the problem” I can no longer get through. Please don’t take your pets here

VCA is an EXCELLENT veterinarian care hospital! The staff are friendly, and the doctors are so professional and caring. I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Schwab to do some complex research for me regarding my dog and a trip, and she was on the task right away. The other vets are also very kind and have answered all my questions and concerns.

I have been coming to this vet clinic for almost ten years. I am consistently impressed with the quality of care my pets receive. The staff and vets do great work, and they are kind and caring. Even when losing a pet they go out of their way to take care of both you and the pet you are losing. They currently care for our three cats and we couldn't ask for better service.

Recieved a complimentary visit from the shelter and booked an appointment here. Took my dog into a room where I couldn't see what they were doing and did not give me notice on what they were doing came back with barely any results. The vet was informative which I liked but I felt pressured to get his shots after i have already said i was going elsewhere. Also, after i said i was going to call to get the flea meds for my dog at a later time. She was persistent and it made me uncomfortable. First visit and last. He will be treated elsewhere for future visits.

Terrible clinic. Our dog got ringworm here--literally only place he could have gotten it. When we took him back they said we couldn't prove he got it there, even though he had been there for a neck injury and had been bed rest since he was last there. Then they misdiagnosed and said it wasn't ringworm (and not contagious) even though others in the household got ringworm from the dog. Take your pets somewhere else!

We typically have really great experiences at the VCA, except for the recent visit with Dr.Schwab that made us wondered if she really cares for animals. Our puppy came in for a wellness check with concern of ears infection. After the examination, Dr.Schwab contacted us with updates that our puppy is doing fine, no infection or health issues. The only problem was he wouldn’t open his mouth for her to exam his teeth. I told her if she pets his face a couple of times he’d yawn for her. I also told her that we are concerned with his ears infection as I noticed he’s been scratching his ears excessively with a slight odor in his ears. Luckily we had some left over medicine from his previous visit to use as soon as I noticed the symptoms. She told us she didn’t see any redness in his ears but would check again. We received another call from Dr.Schwab a few minutes later saying my puppy needs surgery to remove four of his baby teeth and that his left ear has redness. I automatically thought if she’s just now seeing redness in his left ear after I asked her to check his ears again when she said his ears were fine before, does that mean she didn’t look at his ears initially? My puppy just turned 6 months, according to the VCA app he still has up to 9 months to get all of his adult teeth. Why did she suggested we put him under anesthesia to remove his baby teeth? Matter of fact he just lost another baby tooth today. I’m glad I didn’t agree to doing the surgery, my puppy would’ve been in pain for no reason. That made us wonder if she’s just here for the money or if she really care for these innocent animals? Our little guy loves Dr.Guerrero and Dr., he always behave for them. The fact that he didn’t want to open his mouth for Dr.Schwab tells me he’s picking up careless vibe from her and probably didn’t want to be near her. Lastly I told Dr.Schwab that we have very little medicine left and we need another tube of medicine in case the current tube we have runs out before his ear gets better. Her response was “no just use the current ointment you have”. I mean we are paying for it, I’m not asking for free samples. Our experience with Dr.Schwab was horrific, at that point I just wanted to get my puppy back as soon as possible.

I've had great experiences here. My puppy's vet is very knowledgeable and always asks if I have any worries. I highly recommend joining the pet care club! It varies from about $45-75 a month but has really great benefits.

Our old man, Odie, was in failing health and it was his time to go. We knew this and were taking the proper steps for him, but he woke up and one morning and everything had taken a turn for the worse. We wanted to end his suffering but still be there in his last moments. We called and went to 5 other vets none of which expressed any sympathies nor would they let us come into the clinic to be with him for his last moments, not did they have availability for us. That all changed when we called VCA. Julie was the person that we spoke with in the phone, she expressed her sympathies and condolences and told us we could come in as soon as we needed to. We showed up and they brought us inside immediately, every staff member was so kind. They had a room set up with a blanket and they were so gentle. Dr. Schwab was intelligent, respectful, caring, and kind. Over all they made what could’ve been a traumatizing experience one that was just sad. I would recommend coming here anytime and for anything. Wonderful people.

Nothing but GREAT things to say about VCA Castle Hills. We moved to the area and found this clinic on a weekend for our sick dog. Despite the craziness due to COVID, our baby girl was taken care of wonderfully from start to finish. If there was something they couldn’t do, they had several referrals available; a large network of care is comforting. Dr. Schwab, and the rest of the team has been incredible. We found our new Vet!

The staff here is so nice and just awesome. There’s only been minimal interaction between dropping and picking up my dog and talking over the phone, but they’ve just been great. Also, Dr. Guerrero has been amazing. My dog has been having problems with his eyes and she has really been great with trying to resolve this issue. She takes her time to explain what’s going on and what we can do to help him feel/get better. She also is very patient and takes the time to answer ALL my questions, which I couldn’t tell you how much I appreciate. So grateful to have found this VCA!
