They were so informative and super friendly towards me and my puppy. They gave me very handy advice on things to do and not do. Overall very pleased with my visit and I’ll be back again in a few weeks for another check up.

Dr Owens and the entire staff are great. Dr Owens has been seeing our Harley since March 2021. We "trust" his care and he has done a lot for Harley. Thank you for helping our family.

The only Animal Hospital I'll go to. Dr. Kohnen and Vet Tech Kim provided me and my dog excellent customer service. They took great care of my dog, and answered all of my questions about her, and her care with a smile. This is the only Animal Hospital I've gone to where my dog was excited during her visit. I've been going to River City Animal Hospital for over 13 years, and will continue to do so.

The staff here is wonderful, they took great care of my golden Ranger (Walker, Texas!) and Dr. Kohnen is a good Ag!

Deceiving business practices. So sad. Dr. Kohnen is a good doctor, and I really appreciated his days as the Dog Dude. But, I recently took my pet there and was very disappointed by the misleading way in which his business is being run. My pet was prescribed a certain injectable medication. I was given a hand-written scheduled with the dates of future injections, was given enough syringes for the entire duration of the protocol, and was told that they didn't have enough vials in stock so that I would need to come back later for the rest. All documents, including my bill, the dispensing label attached to the bag of syringes, and the vial itself said "8 week" supply. When I 'went back later' for the remainder of the medication, the story changed. They said that I had to pay again because it wasn't that they had run out of the medication when I was there the first time, but that they gave me what I paid for. I would have been OK with paying for a second vial had they been honest from the beginning. It would have been different had they said "we don't have enough vials today so we only charged you for what we have; come back in a week for the rest". But that's not what they said or put in writing. Very disappointing.

They were amazing! I brought my dog here to have a growth removed and they did an amazing job. Their prices are reasonable and the Vet knows his stuff.

Wow this place was a gigantic waste of time and money. I first called to book an appointment, which I explained my dog was pregnant, needing a c-section soon, and wanted to make sure her and the puppies were healthy. I bought her in to be seen and the vet calls me on the phone to review how the appointment. He states how it went well, our dog and her puppies are healthy. I told him that I wanted a c-section which I had previously stated as she is a french bulldog, she will likely need one. He went on to tell me to hold so he could google it, then tells me they could do the c-section. I get a call the next day with from the vet referring me to another vet so that they could do the c-section. Basically $200-$300 wasted at this vet. I have to go to another vet clinic.

After rave reviews about Dr. Kohnen from a couple friends, I decided to make the drive across town to have my pet seen. Unfortunately, after my call with Lynn, that won’t happen. Her tone and heavy sighs while responding to my questions made it clear that she wasn’t interested in having my pets as patients. I wanted to be sure since I would be traveling quite a distance that I all of my pets needs would be met. I felt rushed and even talked down to a little. I am glad my friends are pleased with the care there but I will be sticking to me current vet where I feel welcome. I guess it is true, one sour apple can ruin the bunch. I do believe this clinic would have been a great transition for my babies due to the Dr’s reputation, which is my reason for leaving 4 stars.

Vet and staff are caring and enjoy their work. The cost is higher than most but it is conveniently located to my father's residence. Like most Vet clinics they asked to run multiple tests which of course are optional.

Most compassionate Care we've ever had for our dogs. The love all the staff showed showed our pups meant the world to us, and our pups clearly loved being there. Even when the worst happens, and you have to lose your pups they made every step of the process as comfortable as possible. Hands down the best ????

Went here with my pet for over 10 years. Overall had a good experience, but we took our pet to ER a week and a half ago to have her put to sleep due to a lot of pain from an existing condition. I called River City 2 days later to see if they were notified.receptionist gave her condolences but Dr. Kohen never did. I think he should have. It would have been the right thing to do. I was very disappointed that he didn't call.

LOVE taking our bulldog here. He is always taken care of and the staff is always pleasant, profession, and knowledgeable! Pricing is a little high, but they do offer a military discount to help.

Although my time at River City was sad, the staff were very compassionate and helpful. Dr Jones was informative and kind. Nahomi, the tech, was very sweet to my Kitty and kind to me. They always saw me quickly. The prices were fair..however I don't have experiences with other clinics. I would highly recommend them to friends and family. If I get another pet I would go back.

TL:DR - vet was “too busy” to see an emergency patient they have been treating for years. My family and I had been coming here exclusively for years. 5 dogs, 4 cats over the years. Many thousands of our dollars have been spent for care here. That had to end today. My mother’s dog, who has again been an exclusive patient here, was hit by a car. He was up and moving, but had wounds that needed care, as well as X-rays and the like. When we called, we were informed, verbatim, that they “were too busy, we’re triple booked right now,” and were told to take him quite literally across town. The ONLY explanation I can think of (since there are vets everywhere around here) for that recommendation was so that we wouldn’t develop a relationship with another vet near the house. Believe me, I understand being busy and overbooked. But, as a referral business, the least they could have done was have us bring him in, stabilize him, and get to him when they can. I could understand that. He was not hurt so badly as to exceed their services, either. That I too would have understood. I cannot express how disappointed this has made me. I can also guarantee that no other animal from me or my family will ever cross the threshold here again. I am glad Dr. Kohnen is busy - especially too busy for patients that have been coming to his office since he opened his doors. Fortunately, he will not have to worry about us clogging his books in the future.

Abby started going to Dr. Kohnen about 2 years ago. We have been very please with the sweet staff and the professionalism of Dr. Kohnen. Abby goes there for Day Spa and she loves it. They treat her very special and have never been rude to me or my husband. When Abby needs her shots or has been ill, she was taken care of with love and urgency. We recommend RCCAH to anyone with a pet.

Nice office, everyone is very friendly and the doctor explains everything in detail. My dogs have a good time when they go get groomed.
