This clinic almost killed my dog!! We took her in because she was bleeding from her mouth and had a swollen neck. They had us waiting forever but finally took her in after we told them the bleeding won't stop. Seven hours later she was …

Pet Shotz will get you better service then this place hands down. With my dog on the edge of passing it wasn’t until we showed money was there a sense of urgency. I’ve been to plenty of vet clinics in San Antonio and this one takes the cake for being the worst. No answer as to what was wrong with my dog and having smart remarks to my family while looking for answers. Take it from a complete stranger with one less family member now that pet Shotz may be busy but their business , compassion, and hard work to figure out what’s wrong with your pet is worth it. And way more affordable. This place shouldn’t exist

I’m so sad that this is the only ER around. They take your money first and they don’t even check the dog good. They check for symptoms rather than checking on everything. I knew this place sucked but didn’t have any other options. Thank you for not disappointing me after 8 hrs of waiting.

As bad as could be. Long waits. No sense of urgency. Wouldn’t let me go in with my dog while they put her down because I was standing outside, next to, not touching both masked. Lady was rude and showed zero compassion.. She literally stood next to the person I stood next to to tell me. This is after spending $1000..

If I could leave negative stars I would it’s Christmas Eve and my dog is going to die because she needs an emergency c-section that I can not afford the vet told me to get her euthanized since I cannot afford the surgery. What an awful place.

Poor aftercare/customer service. We were visiting San Antonio for the holidays. We had to take our 12 year old dog to Emergency Pet Clinic for vomiting and severe diarrhea on Christmas Day. The initial exam (included bloodwork and x-rays) was expensive ($900) but not surprising. The consult with the vet (Dr. Holmes) and the on-duty tech was good. They sent us home with some gastrointestinal food and probiotics, which have worked reasonably well so far. Our complaint concerns the difficulty in obtaining additional food. This food is only available with a prescription and from a vet. We were not told this when we picked her up, nor was a prescription provided initially. We called a couple days later to pick up additional food as we were initially sold 3 cans. The receptionist stated 1) she was not sure if they enough on hand; and 2) the EPC policy was not to provide more as they wanted us to get it through our regular vet. Just to be clear: 1) they knew we were out of town and unable to get to our vet until early the following week; 2) we paid $900 for the initial visit DURING WHICH THEY PRESCRIBED THE DOG FOOD; and 3) our dog was “not really” their patient according to their policy just 2 days later, EVEN IF JUST FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUYING A FEW CANS OF THE DOG FOOD THEY PRESCRIBED AND WHICH THEY KNOW CAN’T BE PURCHASED WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION. Finally, after getting brushed off by MissionVet (see below), calling EPC back, pressing the issue, and having our vet email them, EPC “made an exception” and sold us 12 cans. Bless their hearts! They also, provided a prescription so we could go elsewhere to pick up more. It is not clear why a prescription (and explanation) was not provided in the first place. That would have saved a lot of aggravation. (Please see our review of MissionVet Emergency and Specialty for a even more disgusting experience in trying to buy a few cans of “prescription” dog food). As is if to ensure that we were completely irritated: When we arrived to pick up the additional 12 cans, the EPC receptionist told me that they under billed us for the first three cans. For our convenience, she just charged the balance due to the credit card we provided for the initial billing. I laughed out loud, but I was wearing a mask, so I guess it was lost on the receptionist. I understand that EPC is focused on emergency care and not the distribution of dog food. However, making reasonable accommodations so owners can follow up on your aftercare instructions seems like common sense.

I had an excellent experience with Emergency Pet Clinic. From online registration, to vet tech handoff, talking to the doctor and explaining procedures, to final payment and returning the pet to me. All very professional and friendly. My cat woke up this morning like nothing had happened. Thank you EPC for caring.

Wow, what a bad experience! I have never been to an emergency vet that literally was so freaking slow. I was prepared for 3 hours or so wait. Meanwhile, over 7 hours later, I still don't have my animal. It is like she is a hostage. She is ready, I have paid, but They have kept me sitting in a dark parking lot for 1 1/2 hours just to get her. Paperwork, I was told was ready 30 minutes ago. WTH?

AVOID AT ALL COST, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR PET BACK WITHOUT A FIGHT!!! 1. You MUST pre Pay for services that have not been completed 2. Each Dr. charges you different prices 3. You get calls for additional charges that they say are needed for more care. 4. Prices are OUTRAGEOUS in compassion to other emergency care clinics. I called around sadly after the fact 5. If you cannot pay due to your cards being maxed on the weekend and have to wait they will NOT give your pet. Pet is held HOSTAGE until payments are paid. Even when it is still an emergency and you want to take them elsewhere

My dog was very sick. They took care of his needs in a very gentle and humaine way... I did have to wait a longer period of time due to Covid 19 restrictions and on a Sunday which alot of vets are closed... I was very satisfied with the way I was treated and how they were with my dog.

I showed up to the clinic at 0030 to have my dogs eye assessed 24 hours post dog fight. My dog didn't get seen by the doctor till 0430. I called the front desk at 0330 because i hadn't received an update and found out my pet hadn't been assessed yet. I got tired of waiting in the parking lot so i just went home to wait there. I finally received a call from the doctor to inform me of his findings and plan of care. I finally was able to pick up my pet at 0630 after treatment. I would not return to this location. If you do go to this vet i would recommend just heading home after your pet enters the building to avoid a long wait time in your vechilce. Poor communication and customer service.

We had to take our sweet 3 year old, 5.8 lb. Chihuahua, who was near death on Sunday. She had a terrible bacterial infection called Leptospirosis. We had to wait a couple of hours before they could take her in but we were happy to do it. We had called numerous other places and were told that they were at capacity and not able to take any new patients. They saved our baby with excellent treatment, great Drs who were very knowledgeable and caring treatment. Drs stayed in contact with us at least twice a day with updates. We received pictures of her twice a day as well. Staff and Techs were very nice and caring. Yes, it was expensive but having dealt with an Emergency clinic in the past, this one is reasonable by comparison. Our baby is coming home today, much improved. I highly recommend Emergency Pet Clinic and will call them 1st if we ever have a need again.

Horrible wait time! Waited for 2+ hours and never got taken cared of. My dog was having a bad allergic reaction and could have gotten worse thank God he didn’t. Ended up going to another clinic and was admitted within the first 10 mins. Stay away from here! I am not the only review complaining about wait time and service. I repeat DO NOT bring your pet here. If I could give negative stars I would.

Took a sick rabbit here . Has stasis and they didn’t work on dealing with the rabbit for a good three hours before they did anything . Wouldn’t do anything until they got a payment ! Also we made a charge against them and they took their money back for a job that they didn’t do ! DO NOT use THEM!! They will KILL YOUR ANIMALS!

I have been here twice for vet emergencies for my dogs and both times I was highly satisfied with my experiences. Staff and doctors are extremely friendly and professional. My dogs were taken care of quickly and pricing for ER is very reasonable. I am lucky to have such an amazing facility so close to my home in case of emergencies.

Do Not Go here! I am begging you! After a 7 hour run around I finally left. I found Becker who was amazing they were quick and affordable. EMERGENCY PET CLINIC quoted me 1,700. if it's life or death then go for it. Then they said they will try to get me a cheaper quote which I was confused on, why quote me 1,7000? That was red flag number one. Then they call back saying it will be 1,100 again I was like ok. Like just fix my dog. Then they said she was going into surgery so I was ok thank you. 2hrs later I asked how was the surgery they said she didn't go. I said is everything OK what happened. Well they never started surgery. So I went to go pick her up and she was not shaved so how did they do an exam without shaving her? I went down the road to Becker who was upfront and honest. Once they shaved her, they let me know it will only be 500. They were also done in half the time! I was willing to pay 1700 for my fur baby but with the run around I couldn't TRUST EMERGENCY PET CLINIC, I mean how do you do an exam without shaving her to see how bad the cuts are? I thought there were 2 cuts but once shaved she actually had 5.

1st Emergency clinic that I found nearest to me when my baby Bella got hurt. Wait time was less than 30 minutes. My baby had to stay overnight for observation. Alittle pricey but worth it. My bill was between $1,500- $2,000 I had to pay $1,106.18 so they can give my baby pain medication, electrolytes, antibiotics, xrays, visit and the overnight stay. Thank God they were fast taking my baby in. Staff was very friendly and the vet explained everything very well.

Called them at 0405am Sunday morning. Recording said all business on line. Spoke to receptionist. Explained I am handicapped Vietnam veteran VIA bus riding tech challenged. She got me in que and told me to come in. She would and did assist me upon arrival. She was amazing as was Vet who examined my pet. I had been there before in 2010. Familiar with procedures for terminal pet. Main change is customer waits in automobile. Very efficient & COVID protocol priority. My pet taken at 11am. Within an hour recommendation made. Sad ending, same as before. Pet put down. I would probably still be out on street were it not for receptionist. I changed setting on Smart phone. Dark screen no internet. She brought back and connected to their Wifi and provided me something to eat during wait. Above and beyond. GOD BLESS entire staff.

They evaluated our cat when he got hit by the garage door and our other cat when she had a swollen foot. They're both doing great. Thank you for being there when we needed you. Their COVID- 19 procedures are solid as well and we feel safe there. I hope we never have to go again, but I'm glad they're a part of our community.

Very bad experience. The waiting time was more than 3 hours and then my dog was getting worse. I called them to tell me my dog could barely breathe and they still didn't want to take her in and to keep waiting in the car. I went to another place were they immediately took her in cause they did take her as in emergency unlike this place.

Called eight different vet emergency clinics, this was the only clinic willing to see my Labrador after her labor stalled. Very friendly, super understanding, quick! only took about an hour to relieve my sweet girls issue. I hope I don’t have to come back, but if I do need an Emergency Pet Clinic, I will come back here!

Do not bring your animal here, charged us 2500$ for nothing. Our dog would have died if we didn't take her elsewhere.

At this clinic waiting for 5 hours just to be told that my pet had not even been seen or assessed yet. When asked to just bring out the pet so that I could take them elsewhere, was asked to wait. Which I did. Over and hour so far. And still have not been given my pet so that I can take them somewhere else. This place is absolutely a complet joke.

Take. Your. Animal. Here! After going ER to ER and being turned away over six times, these were the only folks that would see my dog at midnight. Unmatched performance! Very friendly staff. Fast turnaround. I don’t know what they are doing differently than others, but it works! God bless Emergency Pet Clinic, during this hard hard time in our country and a shortage of vet techs. I owe you big time!

I give 4 stars only because of the waiting time and I feel it was pretty expensive. It was our first vet visit ever, so I am not sure if this is just normal or not. ~$300 for diagnosis, infusion and antibiotics/ medicine for 'tilted head' bunny. But most importantly, we came in with a dwarf bunny almost dying, and now we are back home with noticeable improvement. Bunny accepts medicine and fluid food and currently cuddling with the kids.

Excellent service, excellent human beings, treat us with a lot of love. Like the puppy, and in between the pain of the situation, they had a lot of love with us and Meggo

*STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEATH TRAP and READ THESE REVIEWS! PETS ARE DYING IN CARS AND THEY DO NOT CARE!* I get pandemic precautions, but you're an ER! Sick animals don't need to be sitting in hot cars for hours. There has to be a way to provide them with shade at the very least, even during a pandemic. I sat in my hot dying car with a puppy that had already been throwing up this weekend for 2 and a half hours. We never even got the help we needed. I took him home rather than make him suffer any more and got him better with doses of Pedialyte. Have a vet tech friend thank god. Those jerks wanted to keep him over night after the heat had made him so much worse. I knew he would sit in that cage by himself with no relief all night. Hell no. Be forewarned people, outside there is absolutely no shade or place to sit with your pet. Be prepared to kill your battery waiting, or roast alive. If you have an animal in fragile condition, take them somewhere else. Watch for those red flags because there's plenty. I wish I had read all these awful reviews first. I never would have tried to go here. That was a helpless couple of hours. *Actually, just shut this place down, for love of god. They will let your animal die while they chat and chew at their air conditioned desk. May karma find you all. Heartbreaking.
