A great place to get a pet cat or dog. Highly knowledgeable. They will inform you of everything you need to know about your pet. While your there check out the thrift store.

An acquaintance found a lost puppy, and recruited me to keep it off the streets. I don't know anything about puppies and pets in general, but Helotes Humane Society was able to help out and found a foster within 24 hours, even on a weekend! Also the receptionist cats were adorable. 10/10 would suffer through bad allergies again to pet the kitties.

In short: Young stray kitten gave birth on my back patio. She had 3 kittens, she didn't care about them. I took care of them for about an hour and a half calling multiple shelters asking if they could take the kittens, and Helotes Humane Society answered and said they could take them.! When I arrived they were very kind, and I know the kittens will be in good hands.

Found a stray cat keeps it going to my backyard and you might puppies food so we put in a an animal carrier and took it to the humane helotes society there were no help it looks like they wanted the cat to look better so they can keep it but if you're humane society it doesn't matter what your cat looks like you're supposed to help

Volunteering with Helotes Humane Society is so rewarding. Started fostering about 8 years ago. Over 50 fosters re adopted and too many foster fails . If you can't foster there are a lot of other volunteer opportunities. HHS is a great way to support our furry friends and our community.

Very nice staff. We found a cute puppy that we will be taking home in a couple of days. They have a small dog park area, which is nice to be able to spend time with your possible new dog. I could tell they wanted to make sure the puppy went to the best home possible with people who know what a responsibility they are taking on. Thank you for your work!

This place deserves some kind of award. They have so many community events for low cost vaccines and a great dog park on premises.

Not deserving of a 1 star review as the staff makes blatant threats toward inquiring individuals. Not helpful in the least bit. This place is NOT a sanctioned humane society through the city of Helotes. The Real Helotes humane society is located at a separate facility paid for by the city of Helotes. This "group" are not trained or certified professionals and discriminate against people with disabilities which is a violation of the ADA! From looks of this place I would bring into question if this place is a glorified puppy/kitten mill. They should be investigated by the state and other federal organizations. If you are reading this and have given money to this organization for an adoption and have not received the animal that is a form of theft. Having read all these reviews and dealt with these people I refuse to do any sort of business with them and will be spreading the word to other veteran 501c3 organizations.

Few months back, I applied to adopt a cat. I have had social anxiety with the pandemic and needed a partner in crime(figuratively) to help distract me and love. I got a call from a nice woman, said someone else applied, an older gentleman and they were giving him first dibs and if he doesn’t adopt they will cal me back. Well she called back and said Prince had been adopted and encouraged me to apply for another since I did qualify. So I did. Never got a call back. I even called to check and still did not get an answer. So very disappointed. For this reason alone, i am giving this a 1 star.

We adopted Dexter in 2019. He is a great addition to our family. The process was easy. It is easy to see that Dexter had a great foster home, thanks Angie.

Came here to help volunteer and it was great! Up until the lady upfront brought out her vape and blew a cloud right in front of a small kitten. I'd say be careful.

Everything in their store is looked over very well and in practically new condition. Then ALL of the proceeds go to the animals. Shop here first for gifts or for yourself. You'll be happy you did.!!

We want to save a life and this humane society makes it so difficult to adopt. No wonder people go and purchase animals instead of jumping through hoops. Their communication is absolutely terrible when they didn’t even know what dogs were what breed and if they had been spayed or neutered. They looked down upon us for not knowing the adoption process and were not helpful whatsoever. It was as if we were a burden to them. I’ve spoken with other adoption organizations like SNIPSA and they’re top notch. Highly recommend using them if you’re in San Antonio because they help you through the entire process and their employees actually show compassion. Would not recommend using this facility EVER and that’s sad for the animals whose life depends on people like us...

Well the app says open on Tuesdays however l am here with donations and the door says closed. Only open thurs fri sat. I want to update after dropping off a car load. I DO LOVE this place to shop. The young man who takes donations is the sweetest courteous guy. The volunteers LOVE what they do and the purpose . l have never gotten anything bad here. Sometimes they have better things so check back often. They have lots of parking in back, but if you have trouble walking drop off at door then park. But you really need to update your websight and information. I have 5 or 6 cats at my apt l fear for. They are hungry and are scared. I feed them as much as able. It would be AMAZING if you had some volunteers who would help catch them and get them adopted. People who abandon their cats when they move out of apts. ..l have special words for. These are cats and kittens raised inside used to being lived and cared for. Now forced to run for cover and scavenge for food .please help.
