My female GSD had severe diarrhea to the point where she was bleeding. I was super worried being it was a Saturday, the wait times for other places were too long or weren’t taking new clients. I called this location and they advised me to come in with no wait time. They advised when they examined her I would have to wait in my vehicle and being that I had never been there, I was a little uncomfortable with it. The nurse advised after her exam I could go in and sit with her. The DR came in and spoke with me and allowed me to record the conversation due to my husband not being there which I truly appreciated. She prescribed us some antibiotics and sent us on our way! I was very thankful they took my girl in and I didn’t have to wait to be seen. My girl did have an accident in their waiting area and the front desk girl was very understanding and reassuring that it was okay lol Thank you so much for taking care of our girl as she is back to her old self!!

Was just turned away because I have a Pit Bull. He is 15 and was visibly showing signs of distress, having trouble breathing, shaking and vomiting. Avoid this vet if you are having an emergency and own a Pit Bull.

Shoutout to Kim the Tech! Me and my partner's 16 week old caught parvo and we've been strapped for cash since our other pups recovered from parvo and she worked with our budget. I hope my pup makes it, but I greatly appreciate everything they've done for us, will definitely be making them our go-to for emergencies!

I just want to thank the vet techs and vet at Animal Emergency Room. We got home on Monday and saw our outdoor cat was in bad shape. We knew he had cancer, and it was just time. He hadn't eaten, and he was weak. The male vet tech saw us quickly, and even more so, kindly and compassionately. His demeanor was calm. I also appreciated the kind words from the female vet tech who thanked us for bringing him in so he could pass quickly, asked us if we needed more time, and then very kindly cleaned him up afterward and left us with a card stating their condolences and even gave us an ink print of his paw. It really touched my heart. The vet too gave us his condolences and told us to stay for as long as we needed. I can't imagine how difficult it is being a vet in an ER. I was really moved by how great the entire staff was as we helped our kitty pass quickly. Thank you again to the whole team.

I called about my dog ingesting some diluted bleach as I don’t have any money at the moment I asked to speak to the vet just so I can see what I can do to help him right now she sends me to poison control where I have to pay a fee to ask a question I call the clinic back and she continues telling me how the vet will tell me the same then asked me if I had any credit to use I told her no and I would just like to speak to the vet because with all of respect I’m not speaking to a vet just a receptionist and she tells me good luck then hangs up on me now no one will answer the phone for me

This place doesn't look like much and they need more help, but I spent the entire day driving around San Antonio trying to find a vet to look at my blind dog. A super emergency it wasn't but could have been serious. This is the only vet that came out to my car to look to see if the problem could wait or had to be treated. They were in surgery and really couldn't take the time, but did it anyway. Every other vet in town gave me a polite "FU". I understand vets and techs don't grow on trees but accessing a pets condition as part of the process to make sure my child and yours won't seems like it's just common sense. Kudo's to these wonderful people making sure we were ok. And I will go back there during their hours if we have another problem. Thank you so much!

Although they weren't able to help me with my pet's issue, they were more than helpful finding the right place that could. Thank you Emily especially.

The price is not bad at all but the Vet is rude and dismissive, it was uncalled for.

My puppy died after receiving 1500$ worth of treatment here. Nobody explained to me that parvovirus has no cure, nobody explained to me how sepsis is the ultimate cause of death in a hospital setting. We were discharged with antibiotics after they "strongly" recommended she stay longer, I wanted to have her get the best treatment so badly but I ran out of money. This place took everything I had up front, and not even 6 hours after having her home. After giving her antibiotics, after syringe feeding her, her heart stopped beating. We could have kept her hydrated better if we were discharged with anti nausea medication which we werent. We could have prevented her organ failure if they had her on a more frequent antibiotic schedule. (Once every 12 hours is not enough if organ failure can happen in less than 6 hours) They could have at least helped us find a way to pay for having her stay hospitalized until she was better after paying so much up front but no. No money, no treatment. If your pets are seriously I'll and you don't just happen to have a couple thousand dollars lying around they will die if they go here. They won't tell you anything about your pets condition, or even attempt to explain possible survival rates. I'm sure if you had the money to just hand over to them they'd do their jobs well enough but if you run out half way through your pets treatment you will be completely on your own and they will do absolutely nothing to help you or your pet.

Loved all the staff. I trusted them 100%. Only downside was the wait time but other than that. They actually work with your budget and make you feel comfortable. Their hours are GREAT as well. Thankfully my baby girl is back to normal!

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PETS!!!!! I brought my puppy who was 8 weeks old with vomiting and diarrhea. She got tested for parvo and another test and she tested positive for parvo shortly after. The best thing they recommended was hospitalization with fluids and treatment and the total came out to 1,100 dollars. Two hours later the vet called and said she passed away from low blood sugar or it could have been other things due to her soft spot on her head and when they tried to do cpr but they didn’t have a big enough tube to even fit for her. Then they only refunded back 600 out of the 1,100. They handed me her in a bag and wanted me to take her out like that so i asked for a box and they gave me a empty syringe box to put her in. I will NEVER bring my dogs here again they killed her faster than the parvo did. Before i even left her with them i had a feeling this was going to happen too.

On Friday morning, April 2, one of our dogs showed signs of not feeling well. Observing her issues (vomiting/diarrhea) thru the day, we decided it best to get her seen sooner than later. Our regular emergency vet was overbooked and they suggested Animal Emergency Room. The counter staff did come out promptly and collect our information. We did wait over two hours in the parking lot before our pet was allowed in. I have no complaint with this because there were customers ahead of us and an animal needing emergency action was also brought in. My teenage daughter opted to go in with her dog while I waited in the car. The staff updated me periodically and the net result was our dog was diagnosed with Parvo. Her vaccinations for it were not completed correctly as we thought (Parvo sucks BTW). Severely ill and dehydrated, she needed their care overnight. The next morning they contacted us and advised she was not recovering well and needed to stay another night. I GIVE THEM 5 STARS BECAUSE: 1. THEY KEPT ME FULLY INFORMED OF MY PET'S NEEDS/CONDITION 2. PROVIDED OPTIONS FOR TREATMENT AND ASSOCIATED COSTS 3. AFTER THE SECOND NIGHT, THEY CALLED FIRST THING TO SAY SHE HAD EATEN, PERKED UP AND WAS WELL ENOUGH TO COME HOME. This reduced the projected bill by over $500. They could have kept her all day and charged me the full amount with me none the wiser, but they were upfront, honest, and most importantly, made our dog well again. THANKS TO THE WHOLE STAFF.

Due to my fur babies health conditions, we visited many vet hospitals and emergency vets here in San Antonio. From Becker's animal hospital to Blue Pearl( this place is horrible! They gouged me with prices and made me feel it was my fault for a genetic problem my fur baby was born with. I will never set foot in that place again) Animal Emergency Room is the only place I will go. This group of vets and staff were absolutely amazing! From their compassionate vets and front staff to their affordable prices, they put your furry loved one first before finances! If you are in need of a emergency vet for your beloved pet, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!

Last night my 5 year old Belgian Malinois started seizing which is something she’s never done before. We scooped her up and rushed her to AER where we were met by the awesome staff. We were brought in and my girl was immediately seen. They were able to get her hour long seizure under control and showed outstanding compassion during the ordeal. While we don’t know what caused her seizure I am eternally grateful to the folks at AER for saving my girl and pulling out all the stops for her medical care. I work with sick and injured animals every day and there’s nothing that can prepare you for a medical emergency with your own. If you’re looking for an honest vet who will work with you and ensure your animal receives outstanding care AER is the place for you. Thank you Dr. Buck, Dr. Smith, JP, Jennifer, Lindsey and Rich you guys are awesome!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Doctor was very rude and rather then listen to what we had to say just questioned us like we were making up our pets condition. Also rather then pull other customers into a room to discuss their pets issue they did it in the waiting area which was very unprofessional. Only positive was the man at the front desk and vet tech we dealt with were friendly.

I’ll rate it one star, despite the veterinarian being blunt and seemed frustrated with the staff she had a point in regards to my pet. There’s were the one star goes to. A caucasian vet tech unprofessionalism and cynicism which I justified due to the unprecedented times we are currently living was unnecessary. The male receptionist initially seemed knowledgeable and talkative but that all turn into sarcasm when I asked to take my pet home since I have waited over 3 hours and he only had a stool sample plus I have already paid. He pointed out that I am not the only person in town that needs veterinarian services! Not to mention that when I arrived there was only one pet ahead of me. I left that place feeling really conflicted in regards to my dog because if that’s the way they treated me that I can speak for myself I could just imagine him! On the record they have surveillance there and not even once did I put myself down to their level with the exception that I didn’t thank them when they handed me my dog like a bag of trash without a single word.

Cheaper, faster, and more knowledgeable than Emergency Pet Clinic on Broadway St. The doctor was extremely helpful. Open 24 hours on weekends. Willing to see exotics. Answers the phone immediately without a messaging system, and has minimal paperwork. Will happily come back again.

We explained symptoms of our cat that he had problems with urine and possibly constipation. The Vet looked at him in the back and then told us nothing was wrong and almost made us feel as if we were overthinking it and that he did NOT have a blockage. The shot he was given is a last resort for cats that don't like pills to treat a UTI. He began vomiting the next day and tried to call the vet again, but no one answered. We didn't know if it was a side effect of the medicine. I called back today and was frantic, he had gotten worse. The girl that answered the phone had Zero compassion as I was explaining what was happening and was upset emotionally. I heard her laugh as she seemed annoyed to hear me. I stopped her mid conversation and told her I didn't appreciate her thinking this was a funny matter. We decided to take him to a different Vet where they could instantly tell his bladder had a major blockage and was advanced in Kidney failure. We had to make the hard and difficult decision to put him to sleep and out of pain. In a matter of days our family member went from being described here as "OK" to being euthanized for blockage that can be felt by hand that caused Kidney failure. To the girl that laughed, how could you have no compassion.

Took my dog there today. She was throwing up and showing signs of parvo. They saw us quickly, Ran test and found out that she was positive for parvo. They gave her antibiotics, an IV for hydration and a shot to coat her stomach and a shot to address her nausea. I also got pills for the next 4 days. It was a lot to do and they did it quick and efficiently. I hope my dog gets over this parvo sickness. I have them to thank for helping get it under control. It was all around the $450 range. In an emergency setting that isn’t that bad for everything they did. Reasonable I’d say. Would recommend for ER visits.

While I never want a reason to go here again, if I ever have an emerncy for my pets this is definitely where I'll be going! The staff is so helpful, and polite. I called when I got to the parking lot, they came out immediately to help me. They made frequent trips back out to my car to keep me informed. They saw my baby (10 week old puppy) immediately and took such great care of him! I cannot thank you enough for everything! I was there for just over an hour, which is unheard of. Their prices are very reasonable/affordable. The service is A+. I just really can't say enough how happy I was. My baby is already feeling better! Barking and playing and eating like he should! Thank you again!!!!

Very nice people. Took very good care of our doggo, and they even let us visit her in the back while she was hooked up to IVs and stuff.
