Very friendly place. I've never been to a vet that wasn't expensive, but I've definitely been to places more expensive than Affordable Pet Care. I'll be continuing to bring my dog and future pets here

Kept my appointment time. No waiting (with appointment). The price was reasonable. Lab results came back quickly. They didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary services. Managed my expectations well. Friendly and professional

NOT AFFORDABLE This place has pretty alright (mediocre) customer service, but like other reviews, it really is all about the money for them. Charged me 180 for a urinalysis, but I got curious and called another reputable place that would do it for 130. Always try to up-sell on procedures and medications that are completely unnecessary.

Great customer service from start to finish. The front desk employees were greeting customers as we walked in. The Vet tech was caring and careful with my new Chihuahua puppy. The Veterinarian Dr. Horten is caring, calming. Thank you all for my puppies first vet visit going great.

Unfortunately they took a loooong time but they are very nice people.

Took my kitty to get fixed and he apparently acted like a brat, but the ladies were awesome with him. By the time he left, of course he had their hearts. Thank you Affordable Pet Care for taking care of my little man.

So so nice!! Everything went quick and the employees were so nice. Loved our vet. She explained everything we needed to get a pup certified to fly in cargo. Was surprised by such a nice setup in the waiting room as well.

Veterinary staff is friendly, services are standard and reasonably priced for the San Antonio area. They prescribe medication for my dog but never have it in stock and ask me to come back later. This time when they called, I couldn't get there until a week later, but I let them know that. I went. They didn't have it again and offered to give me a prescription to get it elsewhere. If I had time or interest in spending time shopping around for the medication, I'd already be doing that. It's poor customer service. They wouldn't even call to their sister location to see if they had it there so I could drive over and pick it up from them (obviously no offer to try to get it from them for me, which seems like a thing to do). Since I am not in love with the clinic, it's not anything special, I'll be taking my dog elsewhere when it's time to renew and refill his prescription. It's a shame, but I guess that's just poor business. They must have a ton of customers so they don't care.

Bad experience from the start. They failed to send me the email informing me that I wouldn't be staying with my dog during the interview process and then refused to let me tour the facility. I was told a handler would call to update me on my dog around 1p.m. and that my dog would be ready about 3-4 p.m. Never recieved an update call and I had to call at 4 asking if my dog was ready for pick up.. To which employee replied "Yes she's ready to pick up whenever." As I walk in I witnessed an employee almost give a client the wrong dog!!! I was there to pick up my dog during her interview!!!! Such a frightening first impression. When I mentioned the mistake I was told it was ok because the client thought it was funny! And when I asked why I never got an update call she coldly replied, "We get busy." Needless to say my dog will not be attending Camp Bow WoW. I will not risk them giving my furry child to the wrong owner. They lack professionalism and customer care is non existent.

We been taking our pugs there for 3 years and its a great place to go to and will continue to.

Dr. Horton & her staff are beyond wonderful!

We took our dog here for a major visit for his ear infection. This was our dog’s first major vet visit apart from his puppy shots. He was very defensive about his ear, makes sense because he was in a lot of pain. His first appointment went well, they cleaned his ears and it was great. But, soon enough the infection was back. The 2nd time was worse. He already did not want to go inside or with the vet tech. After the exam, a technician came back and the vet repeated many times our dog was quite aggressive, had anxiety and if he bites someone (staff) it will be reported. My dog has never been the aggressive type, so I felt bad. However, we were given a trainer’s card to call and get our dog in classes with her before he should come back. We looked her up and her classes ran about $300 for a few hours. We went to another vet who saw our dog with no problem and we are so glad we went somewhere else.

They took real good care of my Charlie he was up and running around in no time. Highly recommended.

Affordable Pet Care is not a good long term vet for your pets. They will not build a relationship with you and they are very focused on rules, policies and fees. Every call requires a new "exam" if another vet did the exam, they will not accept it. if you are a day late on a refill they will require another exam. Most people that work with animals seem to really care about animals but Affordable Pet Care does not give off this vibe. The original vet retired a few years ago and the quality has gone down since that time.

I have taken my pets here for 25 years. They have always been fairly priced and extremely friendly until this past year. I have been extremely disappointed with them. They misquote me prices on the phone and they are constantly trying to get me to do tests and procedures I don’t want. This last time was the final straw. It was the third time in a row I had gone on and they had charged me twice what they quoted. I also feel that the vet herself does not listen to me when I talk to her. Never thought I’d have to switch and extremely sad that I do but they seem to be all about money now.

I have been using affordable pet care for year and years, this was my mom’s veterinarian.. when Dr. Fankhauser was here. I like the vet and staff but they try to upsale every thing. Brought our shih tzu in today for suspected kennel cough and they wanted to sell me heart worm medicine and do a heart worm test because he hadn’t had one yet. The bill was over $250 without the heart worm test/treatment… people are already worried and I feel like to keep piling tests and charges on takes advantage of worried pet owners.

Why tell someone after they arrive and prepaid that it could be a 3 hour wait time in the car. ? ? With a sick dog? Ridiculous.

They nickel and dime you. They refuse to give your dog medication or care without a checkup on every single visit. A month behind on your heartworm or flea medicine and want to get a refill online? Not so fast! Come in and pay us for an examination before we okay a basic prescription from an online provider. I've been told my dog has Lyme's disease and impacted tooth which needed immediate care, when in fact this wasn't the case. Friendly people. Quick service. But man, it really is all about the money for these guys.
