not impressed, this place over priced, took my money, released my dog and dog was worse off than when I took her in....took to another emergency vet who is actually trying to help and needing surgery, gave this place every opportunity, hope my puppy makes it ok and wont be any thanks to this place....keep my money, I wont be back...

We had a little scare with our dog, Lucy. We drove an hour in the middle of the night to take her and this hospital promptly looked at her. Happily everything was great with Lucy but we appreciated how they cared for her. Being from out of town it was nice to have a place to go that will care for your loved ones in a time of emergency.

This place was amazing! I'll admit that I was a little skeptical after seeing other reviews, but I took a chance, and it was absolutely worth it. It took a few hours, but that is to be expected at an emergency vet, so don't let that deter you. Heart of Texas kept me well-informed while taking care of my sick pup, which I was grateful for. They gave me a few treatment options to make me comfortable with the cost, and honest advice about how they felt I should proceed. The morning after I took my dog to them, I received a call from my regular vet asking how my dog was doing!! Heart of Texas sent ALL paperwork and notes to my regular vet, without me even asking!! I was so impressed with that level of customer service, especially because it gave me less work to do! I'm so glad I took my sick pup here, and would recommend them to others.

Dr. Sinese (Internal Medicine specialist) is like gold to me. She has given me more time with my sweet cat. I cannot imagine a vet that I value and respect more. She gets 5 stars in my book. The only negative about Heart of Texas is their pharmacy. Their markup is way high. When I can order the same antibiotic from Chewy at 1/3 the price, that seems like gouging to me. I have no problem paying big money for the expertise of my specialist veterinarian, but I sure wish the pharmacy wouldn't gouge so much on everything.

Horrible does not describe how insensitive and dismissive the staff was upon arrival. Made it seem like they weren't willing to even listen, I had to insist it was an emergency and was referred from another clinic due to the breathing issue of my cat, but dare the poor thing was meowing and the terrible ladies at the desk deemed it was not urgent and instructed me to go outside and call for help. The big hospital 24 hours sign for sure does not match their actions which made us wait outside on cold weather(35s) and locked the doors so even the staff was locked out. Ended up having to put down the cat due to respiratory failure (go figure).

I became concerned about my dog's behavior and reactions to the point when I couldn't wait any longer. Took him in on a Sunday, the staff was very helpful when I had no idea what to do for an emergency visit. He was seen quickly even though they were short staffed. The exam took awhile but the consultation afterward was VERY thorough, suggestions were wonderful, and my dog looks like he was well taken care of if his behavior and comfort are any indication. They answered all my questions and the cost of the visit was well and reasonable for a holiday weekend with medication perscribed and procedures done. THANK YOU! I'm so grateful to live close by for such excellent care. Ari gives it two paws up!

Unfortunately this was the worst facility I have ever seen. The staff was very unwelcoming and dismissed any question I had about the health of my pet. I would recommend going anywhere but here.

My cat was experiencing his second urinary blockage in a month. The crew here took great care of him and were very thorough with post care information. I wish I had known what I know now and he may not have had a second blockage! I called 4 hospitals that had to turn me away during my emergency, so I am extremely grateful for the folks that are able to do this job. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

After our eight month old cat had labored breathing and shorty after experienced a seizure we took him to another emergency vet and they wanted to run bloodwork and an x ray at an astronomical price and when we asked questions on what they could find out through these tests we were met with a patronizing, rude and judgmental tone. She basically implied the tests could tell them nothing and would probably need even more tests and seemed offended we were even asking the questions. We knew he was dying; we know our cat and his suffering was unbearable to watch, but they said he was “stable” and sent him home with pain killers and even questioned us if he actually had a seizure like we were incompetent. An hour after we got home he had a two minute seizure and was gasping for breathe and couldn’t get up. We called Heart of Texas and they said to bring him in immediately and we arrived around 3 am and they humanely put him to sleep for us as we knew something was very wrong and he was dying. They treated us with the utmost kindness and sympathy and respected our wishes without judgment to have him put to sleep. We just received our boy’s ashes today and it came in a beautiful box with a name plate and a clay paw print.

The staff was wonderful and caring. Unfortunately we lost our precious puppy due to a congenital condition but the vets, techs and specialists did everything in their power to find the cause and try to save him. In the end there was nothing anyone could do as his little body had shut down. When the time came they treated our family with kindness and helped us through this incredibly difficult time.

I have an anxious baby, which I mentioned before the visit. I really appreciated the attentiveness to this. The tech came outside to greet us, and spent time near the ground just letting Layla warm up to her. She continued to raise her and just let her warm up inside. Overall this was one of our easiest veterinary experiences. Layla was not relaxed, but probably as relaxed as I’ve ever seen her in a medical setting. I also really appreciated the time spent by the vet answering questions for me. I had been here once before under far less happy circumstances. Even then, the vets were so compassionate. Really appreciate the care and attention that Heart of Texas demonstrates, both in emergency situations and routine specialty care visits.

I took Nova to this hospital because she was feeling sick. I believe they wanted money and she was not diagnosed correctly. I was told the same story of internal bleeding. They don't do a solid exam to confirm she has any bleeding. They do a TScan only not X-ray. They want to over charge for X-ray and x-rays are necessary for a solid exam. She was put down August 25, 2021. Go elsewhere or get a second option. It’s worth the wait. Your pups matter and you want keep them around for as long as you can. This place won't care about them or you.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would most definitely do. Not only do they fail to answer the phones and give you access to information but seems like the only thing in their mind is your money. Please if you care about your pet do not take them here????????. Last night we dropped my dog and sadly he is dead now ????????????????. This place charged us a total of $2,700, did not give us a breakdown of the charges and a description of all the services provided. This is by far the most awful experience and most unprofessional, unethical service. All I have to say is Karma does exist!!! I will however miss my beautiful loving pet forever ❤️????❤️????

Pricey for a vet tech that does a poor job on communication.

I brought my bichon Nina here today after she accidentally ingested a nerve painmedication. I was terrified to lose my puppy, she had been vomiting nonstop and was lethargic. I called the ASPCA poison control line, they gave me a case number then came here. The doctor and staff were very knowledgeable andthey saw my puppy fast despite there being many people. Nina is doing much better.

Unfortunately my wife and I had to euthanize our older dog this past weekend. We came to Heart of Texas because our normal veterinarian was closed. The emergency clinic was very busy, but we were seen right away. The vet and tech were very empathetic, took time to explain everything, and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. They had a separate entrance so we did not have to walk through the lobby and past other visitors during our time of sadness. It is never easy saying goodbye to a pet, but I felt I should comment that Heart of Texas was very professional and made this as comfortable as possible for both us and our dog.

We had an excellent experience today when we took our 12+ year old dog in for diagnostics on Sunday. Team was professional, helpful, and very complete in their efforts. For a Sunday (ESPECIALLY), Heart of Texas Vet Center was FANTASTIC!

Yesterday evening I came to the Heart of Texas after finding my 15 year old Yorkie deceased in the living room. She has been a part of my family since she was 8 weeks old. A military brat, she has travel from Louisiana to South Carolina to New Jersey to Texas and a few other places in between. At 4-1/2 lbs she was a constant companion that you could always find curled under a blanket or walking on the back of the couch looking out the window. She will truly be missed. The staff was great and I appreciate their compassion as they saw this guy crying. I especially want to thank Ms. H as she got us into a room and kept checking on me until I was ready to let Sadie go. I truly appreciate her care, patience and compassion while I was there. Thank you very much.

This place is terrible, first they waited 7-8 hours before they gave my dog antivenom because I had not paid for the bill, but they never told me this fact Leading to the 7-8 hour delay even though they knew it had been a whole day since he had been bitten by a rattlesnake. Leading to my dogs swollen skin to die and fall off, and then after they wrapped his opened wound, either because the wrap moved or his skin did a part of his open wound was not covered. I called them to ask them if I could wrap it and all they said was they "couldn't give medical advice" and I would have to bring my dog even though the next open time was in 8 hours. So I called the next emergency vet over and they pretty quickly told me I could wrap it with a period pad and gauze. This place is terrible.

This place seems to care more about making money than actually providing care. They lock their doors, so you can't even enter the building. They make you pay $129.00 up front before an evaluation because they are "concerned you won't return to pick up your pet afterwards". That is verbatim the reasoning the receptionist gave me. You have to sit in your car and give them your information then wait some more wondering what is going on. Every time you call for an update the receptionist will say, "Just one minute" and 20 minutes later you will still be waiting on the phone trying to get information. I was told my cat, Titus, would get a dose of pain medication when the tech took him from me, and 3 hours later he had received no medication and had not even seen the doctor despite having an acute neurologic change and suddenly could not use his hind legs. Then, I was told by the doctor that my cat would be ready to pick up in 15-30 minutes. I waited over an hour for him to be released to my care because they had sent me a text message with my bill and insisted I pay the bill from my phone before they would release him. But, they never told me this was why I was waiting for so long. It would be more respectful to let someone go inside to pay their bill if that is the requirement instead of sitting in my car in the dark distressed because my cat was still ill and they could do nothing for him. The doctors were slow to see him but cared way more about my pet than the other staff. Very poor communication, poor customer service overall, and I would never take any pet here to be seen. They only care about money. Also, make sure you get an itemized bill because they double billed me for 5 tests, which was over $500 in overcharges. They don't automatically provide an itemized statement, you have to ask for it.

Dr. Vasanjee and the staff here have been nothing but kind and communicative, and took time away from their families to care for mine. Pet emergencies are STRESSFUL, and they did their best to heal my pup, ensure all my questions were answered, and got back to me even when it got busy at the clinic. They're still doing COVID protocols (curbside, phone communication), so make sure your phone is charged and come in a vehicle if you're able. I suggest bringing an umbrella if you're showing up in the middle of the day for shade outside, so the staff can find you if they need to and you don't have to be super far away under a tree.

This hospital was so helpful when I brought my dog in this morning! They were kind, compassionate and very caring when it came to figuring out what was wrong. I really appreciate Sarah who’s a vet tech for lending her expertise when we needed it most. Will definitely be coming back here, I’m so grateful<3

We brought in our Daughter for high fever, they asked us to deposit $3900+ right away. We sent it within minutes while talking to him waiting for the money go trough. Within 3 hours our Daughter passed away with blood came out from her nose. They told us they have no clue what caused it! They said once we take her body they will refunded the difference of her “treatment fee” right away. Since we don’t have big cooler for her we have to pick her up on the next day. Until now it’s been over 10 Days no refund whatsoever. Made few phone calls seems end up with promises that THEIR MANAGER WILL CONTACTING US but NOTHING TILL NOW, NOT A SINGLE PHONE CALL..!!! They seems just care for your money but not for YOUR LOVED ONE. Seems those reviews was right..!!! Think few more times if you don’t want to end up like us. Ow for almost $4000 we paid them they said the refund will be only $1400 something. Every person we called give different amount. That’s the cost for 3 hours of service with no answer what actually happened to her and all the blood.

Great, friendly staff and skilled surgeon! Dr. Vasanjee saw my French bulldog for a second opinion for a nose surgery that wasn’t successful. He was honest with us and took the time to illustrate on the dry erase board our options.

This place is amazing. A couple of years ago my dog got hit by a porcupine in the middle of the night. I had very little money to my name at the time. After searching all over Drippingsprings (where I lived) and Austin for help that night I made it there at about 3 in the morning. They took him in immediately! They offered a payment plan with a down payment of what I had.I will forever be grateful for them helping us in that time of need. When I got paid I finished paying off my bill. If it wasn't for them he probably would of suffered for days if he even made it that long..

Absolutely one of the worst places to take your pet in an emergency. Unhelpful staff. Ridiculous pricing. We went by the book and called ahead but when we got there with our critically ill, unresponsive, DYING cat, we waited on the porch of the building for 20 mins while OTHER people WHO JUST DROVE UP were able to just walk up and get their pet in within moments. I know they did not call or have an appointment because I listened to the conversations they had with the staff. Staff did NOT make us feel secure, and the most emotional part was trying to just understand how much it would cost. 4,000 dollars was the "beginning" cost!!! We were given different numbers by different staff every time and we had 11 calls with them when we could literally just have spoken to them face to face at the door. It finally ended up being about 1,200 dollars that we didn't even have. They don't do payment plans either which is honestly a horrible way to practice. "Pay us thousands NOW or your pet cannot be treated!" I honestly felt my inner Karen manifesting like the Incredible Hulk by the millisecond and it took a lot for me to not yell at these people, my boyfriend had to hold me back. I would NEVER recommend you take your pet here. Wes was the only helpful person and we finally got to get a REAL COST after so many calls back and forth. He also let us see Spooky before we left, which meant the world to us. UPDATE: Took our boy to see the REAL Dr. Graef, (at Coupland) he fixed him up and kept him for observation and charged us less than our monthly phone bill. Spooky is home with us and is doing so much better!

My Tank was coughing blood and seemed to have trouble breathing Our regular sent us the HTVS as they weren't able to see him immediately. The staff was incredible. They got him back immediately, ran tests and while the results were a pet parent's worst nightmare - lung cancer - the doctor was honest and very forthcoming. They put him the oxygen tank and scheduled a visit with an oncologist for the following Wednesday. I was able to pick him up Monday and we started chemo. I went back Monday night as a panicked helicopter dog mom and the vet tech came to the car and reassured me that his reaction to the medication was normal. Unfortunately Tank took a turn for the worse on Wednesday and we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy. The cancer was too aggressive, he wasn't able to breathe and wouldn't be able to do so long enough for the chemo to be effective. The staff was incredibly caring and compassionate as we said our final goodbyes. They allowed us to stay with him as long as we needed before and after. I can't express how appreciative I am to their entire staff.

Keep in note before reading before you go in for a emergency if they’re at capacity they will not take your pet even if they just got HIT BY A CAR we helped a girl who’s dog got hit and and heart of Texas was 2 minutes away said they can’t see us and told us to drive all the way to downtown AUSTIN to another clinic this poor puppy didn’t make it he was taken to another clinic and was told he would’ve made it if we were closer to them and continued to say that heart of Texas would’ve been able to help with being 2 minutes AWAY INSTEAD OF 15 minutes at the other clinic this poor baby didn’t need to enter heaven so early he could’ve been saved so is Heart of Texas really a EMERGENCY CLINIC!!
