Preppy Pet Richmond RICHMOND, Texas

This was my first time going to Preppy Pet’s grooming service and I was not impressed. Upon dropping my dog off on a weekday in the morning, I was told his grooming was going to take 3 hours. It has never taken that long for my small breed dog to get groomed. After I picked up him, I noticed he continued coughing and wheezing…. Two days later my dog is unable to breath, I rush him to the vet to find out he’s contracted kennel cough from the grooming spot. I called them immediately only to hear excuses from the receptionist and she agreed that they don’t look for the Bordatella vaccine when taking dogs in for grooming. I requested to speak to the manager or owner and never heard back from either of them. I would not recommend dropping your fur babies here

I recently went in for “training” with Preppy Pet Richmond. I was appalled to see how poorly ran the facility is— from leaving dogs alone in groups while working in entirely different parts of the facility, to having one kennel technician alone working a manager’s job, a receptionist’s job, and cleaning the entire facility on their own, to putting toys in with dogs who can become toy possessive at any time and begin fighting eachother, to leaving me alone with dogs that I had never met for an extended period of time. Not to mention I was told I was going to be contacted by a manager after this “training” day, and did not hear anything for over a week before receiving an automated email that my application had been denied. This place is unprofessional at best and entirely neglectful and dangerously ran at worst. If COVID has restricted you running your business in a professional and efficient way, then perhaps you shouldn’t have a business open at all. Either way, under NO circumstances do I recommend you leave your dog here.

We’ve been taking our yorkie here for 2 years now, they are always friendly and nice. The place is clean and well kept. I feel comfortable and confident leaving my baby with them.

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! First of all, the owners are friendly, personable and aim to please. They understand how important our fur babies are and they treat them that way. My dog (Tiny Terror) is jumping out of the car window to get to Preppy Pet! He loves it and is always exhausted when I pick him up. Thanks for all you do to ensure the safety and care for my best friend!

I am a new customer of Preppy Pets in Richmond Texas I have left my little Dash hound with them twice and so far each experience has been great I was really nervous because I used another kennel for over 15 years so I was like a mommy dropping a kid off to school for the first day but I must say all the staff have been very warm and friendly and seem to interact very well with all the dogs

I cannot say enough positive things about this place! I found them in February when working in the area and needing a place for my new puppy. I visited many daycares around the area and Preppy Pet Richmond was the cleanest of all. The price for daycare is great, we were going every other day at the time. I finished my job in the area and went back to work inside the loop and we continued to utilize their daycare and boarding services despite the drive. Blade goes Monday-Thursday, I can go to work knowing my dog is well taken care of! They love my boy and he loves them! The communication between staff and myself has always been open and clear. Each of the staff members are very knowledgeable in animals and seeing which dogs play well together. They have both indoor and outdoor play areas. The outside is clean turf with a great canopy for shade. My pup doesn’t do well in the heat and he can play for hours in the shade here! We have taken advantage of the grooming services offered and very pleased with each time we have gotten him groomed. The cost to board here is amazing and the service is great! If you are looking for a daycare, boarding facility, grooming, or all of the above- check out Preppy Pet Richmond, you won’t be disappointed!

My Maltese hated going to the big name boarding place and was stressed to the max when dropping him off and he was a wreck for a week afterwards. Not here at Preppy Pet Richmond! The owners are very nice and patient with pets. We didn't think that we had the right dog when we picked him up because he was so happy. He was himself on the ride home and once we got home. He had not lost his voice. The prices for everything are excellent and the groomers are great, too. I feel very happy and comfortable boarding my pet here.

We love this place! We’ve been customers since they first opened. They spent a lot of time giving my husband a tour and answering all of his questions. They’ve been very accommodating with feeding schedules. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Wonderful place to take your pet. We bring our puppy doberman and he loves it there. Very affordable, clean, and professional. Thank you for taking good care of our boy.

My boys get groomed here every month. My bulldog sheds ALOT. They have helped eliminate this problem. My boys love this place. They treat my dogs like family. Thank you for taking care of my boys and answering all of my questions.

I went on a trip out of town to the beach a few days ago and had to board my Chocolate Lab, He's a sweet boy but I have never boarded him before. The staff explained everything to me and I felt very confident after they did. The place is new and everything is super clean, staff are super helpful and nice! Needless to say my pup stayed there and was well taken care of! Preppy Pet Richmond will be my go to place for my Lab when I have to go out of town.

Very friendly and professional. I have used them twice and haven't been disappointed. They even noticed that the feeding for my dog was different on the second visit.

Highly recommended!!!! Family owned business. They are very friendly and accommodating. Usually my dogs will cry behind me leaving like a baby going to daycare, but not this time. Michelle started playing with them as I was checking them in. Because of Melissa and Michelle, I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing my dogs were also on a vacation. When I checked them out, all of their belongings were already packed for me. They even brought to my attention my dog had a small bump which I discovered later from the vet was a tumor. I am so grateful for these ladies going above and beyond the scope of their job. I will surely use them every time I travel and need to leave my fur babies behind.

This is the first time my pets stayed at Preppy Pet. I was really nervous about leaving my dogs in a new place. The ladies there were very patient and understanding of me asking a lot of questions when I visited the location. I picked up my pets today and they were their happy selves. My chihuahua is 14 and she was walking around their lobby like she new the place. This told me she felt pretty comfortable being there. I would definitely try Preppy Pet again. So far so good. :)

I took my dog here for the first time and he stayed for 4 days. While I was on vacation I received emails to call them ASAP. When I called they wanted to know how he should be groomed & also vaguely mentioned that my dog had “allergies”. She tried to say that my dog has had these allergies for a while. He was perfectly healthy before I took him here. Now he is pooping blood & peeing every where & not even barking. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU LEAVING YOUR DOG HERE. Other people in the reviews have experienced similar situations to mine. I believe it is a scam to make more money through vet visits and medications.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place and their staff and this includes the owners! I brought my rescue dog Birch in, and no matter how difficult he was, these ladies still allowed him to stay there. They dealt with his anxiety issues and his mischievousness when he didn't want to go into his cage. I thank these ladies for their help because if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have been able to give him the care and attention that he needed. They also make sure to keep everything spotless and this includes the kennels! Thanks again ladies!
