Our dog, Wrigley, LOVES Josh. We did the two week board and train program and had a great experience. Wrigley came back so well trained and Josh has gone above and beyond to help translate what he taught her into our house. Highly recommend using Josh and the Velvet Snout team!

Josh IS The Dog Whisperer in DFW! Let me start first by saying Josh has trained all 4 of our dogs over the last 10 years and for good reason. Yes, I am an "over the top pet parent" and high very high standards when it comes to who and where I leave my fur babies. I refused to go the shock collar training route which most facilities use now. This is where Josh's training technique and style is by far superior to any trainer or facility I have consulted with. We lost our 5 year old dog to lymphoma back in February (yes Josh trained him as well) and added a German Shephard and French Bull dog to the pack. We moved 2 hours away but knew the only person we trusted to train our pups was Josh. Our German Shepherd was 17 weeks and needed a lot of confidence building. Josh immediately saw where his weaknesses were and built his trust right out of the gate even before starting the training process. Over the next several weeks we were updated with photos and videos showing his progress. Josh even took him to a pet store in the picture below for an obedience test. He is now able to be completely off leash with distractions and will not get out of his command. Our French Bulldog is now in his training program and has progressed by leaps and bounds! Never in a million years did we think this guy could be trained to this extent. My husband even told Josh if he could actually train our French bulldog he would quite and go work for him. (Its not looking so good for my husband) In all seriousness we are so grateful we have found someone who treats our fur babies like his own. Last I cant forget to mention what an amazing facility Velvet Snout is! They have a huge outdoor play area even with a dog pool which is kept immaculate! I just wish we lived closer so our pups could attend doggie daycare. Josh, words cannot express how grateful we are for you! Thank you for making our relationship with our dogs a healthier and happier one!

Great experience with our family dog's first groom at The Velvet Snout! She is a senior with and can be difficult to handle while grooming, but Jessie did a wonderful job on her nails and paws considering her "feet shy" behavior. She's a tough dog to groom, so we are quite impressed with the new groomer. My daughter said the facility is clean and staff is friendly. As you can see, she's happy that she's all cleaned up. Would definitely bring T.J. here again for grooming!

My dog seems to love it here. Staff is kind and has really gotten to know our various dogs over the years. They'll still comment on a dog that crossed the rainbow bridge 3 years ago.

Updated for accuracy and in response to the supposed false review comment. No direct access to the outside for dogs and individual areas for pets are small. Manager yells when customers are present. She may try to say this is false bc she fired me, but I was already going to quit the same day she did because this facility is ridiculous and unprofessional. Manager and groomer were dating iirc and got into a screaming match at work. They both left, and we were left to close by ourselves. I'd never board my pets here knowing what it's like. I'm sure they care about the animals, but they don't care about owners or employees.

The trainer Josh is the bomb! His follow up is exceptional and skills are fantastic! We have a crazy German Shepherd and he's fantastic with her! We've been to several trainers and nobody is as good as JOSH! We highly recommend him and wouldn't go anywhere else for training

We had our Doberman dropped off to train for 2 weeks with Josh. To say she came back a different dog is an understatement! She has so much more confidence which means a lot less aggressive behavior and his willingness to train us to be better owners is priceless! We loved our experience and highly recommend!

This is a fantastic place to bring your dog for training. Josh did a great job with our paranoid German shepherd. We also did a 10 day boarding and we highly recommend him.

Best boarding! Loved the outdoor area and so did our dog. We enjoyed watching her (on camera) play in the doggie pool and were so relieved she was having a great time while we were away. The staff are also great. They actually care about and will pet your dog!

I've been taking my dog to The Velvet Snout for over a year, and they are BY FAR the best place to board and/or groom in the Dallas area! They are responsive, professional, price their services fairly, and the staff love on my dog better than any other boarding place I've been to. In fact, my dog gets excited when we pull up to the building, and is happy and not at all anxious at all while inside. They have webcam access that they share with anyone who's dog is there and are very communicative about grooming or special needs for your dog while there. I've recommended The Velvet Snout to a few friends across Dallas who willingly drive to Richardson because they are so impressed with the service. Thank you to the staff for taking such great care of my pup!

I actually work for a boarding kennel, and chose to try a new place while we went out of town!! My dogs seemed super happy when I picked them up and not sad or hurt at all, they have been sleeping since they got home!!

I took my dog, Khouri into The Velvet Snout today for a de-shed treatment. I was a little nervous because he is usually nervous around strangers. However, a de-shed treatment was really needed in his case. When I came in today, I talked with the bather(I believe her name is Janet but I can't quite remember) and shared my concerns. She was very polite, reassuring, and understanding. I ended up getting a call from the bather and my dog was finished two hours early. Apparently, my dog, Khouri was very good with the groomer which is odd because he is normally nervous around strangers. When the bather was bathing him, she gave him some of the treats I had brought and told him to sit, and Khouri was fine. Apparently, the only time he was nervous was when she was doing his hindquarters. She also explained some of the stuff that was going on with his hair. She was very kind and polite, which I appreciated, and answered every question I had regarding my dog's grooming needs. When I came to pick my dog up, I was expecting to see a totally traumatized dog. That has been the case when we have boarded him before at different places. Instead, Khouri was happy to see me and ran to greet me. The front desk explained he was kind of nervous being in the plexiglass kennel after grooming and I totally appreciated their honesty. I always want people who take care of my dog to tell the truth and how my dog is doing and I'm glad they did. The front desk also explained that my dog would need regular brushing in addition to his de-shed treatment and recommended a series of brushes, as well as certain ways to brush my dog to comb both the upper coat and undercoat. All in all, I'm very pleased with The Velvet Snout and am considering taking my dog back there for daycare next time he gets groomed. I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend. Pic below of my picture before my dog got groomed for reference.

My husband took me on a surprise last minute mini vacation. I had less than 8 hrs to find a boarding facility for my babies. The one that they usually stay at was fully booked. I called around until I come across Velvet Snout. I was worried about how my babies would react with the staff, so they offered a 4 hour (complimentary) evaluation before I decided to board with them. I was a nervous wreck during those four hours to be honest! I was so worried that my babies with be acting out and wouldn’t be able to stay there. When I finally went back to check on how they did, I was surprised to find out that they were okay and that the staff had been so patient getting to know my babies and how to work with them. My husband agreed to let them board here from Thursday night to Monday morning. I had never seen my babies be walked out to me and look happy! At other places I always have to go to their room because they won’t let the staff get near them in the mornings. That was not the case in this situation. My babies were happy and they seemed well taken care of. I am beyond pleased with their services!! The price is worth every penny!! From now on this will be the only place and the only people I trust to leave my babies with when we go out of town of extended trips that are not dog friendly! THANK YOU VELVET SNOUT STAFF FOR TAKING AMAZING CARE OF MR. RILEY AND MR. BAILEY BEAN!! I also wanted to add that there is a review stating the they staff and the receptionist are rude. In my experience that not the case!! They were welcoming and friendly but most importantly they showed great care and concern for the well being on my babies and everything other fur baby in the facility!

I sent my 3 babies here: 2 Alaskan Malamute and 1 Siberian Husky for grooming and The result for all 3 was Awesome, ways beyond my expectations and their prices are very affordable too. All my 3 boys required extra work on brushing, deshedding and dematting their coats...and all turned out Great. Not only I was pleased with the results, I was also overwhelmed at how detailed and friendly all employees were. From now on, even If I move far away, I will definitely only take them to The Velvet Snout. 5 stars are not enough to rate the Velvet Snout! Awesome job! ????????????????????

After having done some brief research online regarding dog-boarding in the Richardson area, I chose to move forward with boarding my pup, Miles with The Velvet Snout. My interaction with the staff from inquiry to pick-up has been so enjoyable; each employee I spoke to was never less than very friendly and informative. Having some concern with allowing my pup to join other dogs in the day care area while I was away ( as Miles is particularly anxiety-ridden with most unfamiliar experiences ), The Velvet Snout offers to have a free 'trial' day that allows them to observe my dog's behavior around others to see if he is a good fit before charging for a full day's cost of daycare. On the day of drop-off, a staff member did a brief 'assessment' of Miles' behavior while handling him, and very kindly answered all of my questions. I provided a pretty strict food schedule, having labeled all portions of food and what part of the day to provide each to my dog ( yes, I'm that kind of person ). They were so accommodating! Also, I could tell they REALLY WERE good about observing the dogs in their care. I was given step-by-step instructions on how to conveniently access their day-care webcams from my smartphone, and I could physically see staff frequent the day care rooms ensuring the dogs were interacting in only a friendly, well-behaved manner. Over the few days Miles was in their care, I could literally see, via the webcams, his behavior begin to adjust. He grew more receptive to interaction from staff and the other dogs. They even sweetly commented on a curious quality about my dog's coat, which I felt was very observant of them! When I returned home with Miles he wasn't acting himself, and by that I mean, he just seemed less stressed and joyfully curious! I could tell he had a great stay! Though this is my first experience with dog-boarding, I would recommend The Velvet Snout to anyone who needs boarding for their pup! Check them out!

I wish I could give six stars. Took my aging, arthritic German Shepherd there this week for a wash and nail trim. After I got her home, I loved on her a bit and that's when I realized what a phenomenal job they did. Simply the best wash and brush out the old girl has ever had. The way the man talked to her, I'm certain he was gentle to her old bones, too. Good people. Great service. Will now go nowhere else. This is the place.

Ripken and Pearly are absolutely CUTE!!!!!! Lynne commented how stinkin CUTE Ms. (Auntie) Tonya always makes our babies, but especially Pearl. I told her Ripken is a boy, he is not supposed to be cute, but he sure is HANDSOM ;). I have always said Ms. Tonya is an artist! Van Gogh and Edward Scissor Hands in one :). Mom loved Lilly's grooming and can't believe how much difference there is between a pet store haircut and a work of art. Thank you for always loving our babies going on close to 20 years all totaled Ms. Tonya. We love you and our babies have all loved you because you have always loved and cared for them. See you soon.....

I decided to try the Velvet Snout after another "hotel" did a poor job on my dog. They did a fantastic job on my Pyrenees. He went in for a trim and a bath and came out very clean and smelled good. I will definitely return.

Management & Staff members are very professional, easy to communicate with, patient and caring. Our pet was happy to return here after evaluation day then after boarding 1st time. Previously at other places she didnt want to stay or return so we are happy to continue using Velvet Snout as needed. Plus...Grooming is on point! They all care about their jobs here and it shows.

What a great place for dogs! Two large yards with pools and lots a room to run around! Dogs are kept separate according to size and or energy. Our dog loves it here! Everyone working there is so nice and friendly, and our pup just loves Justine!! We’ll definitely use the boarding option in the future. Thanks VS for taking great care of our pup!!
